White House Protest Calling for the Rising Up of Muslims and Establishment of Sharia Law in United States

British extremist Anjem Choudary - who once said 'the flag of Islam will fly over the White House' - has announced he will lead a demonstration calling on Muslims to establish the Sharia law across America.

Dark Rose

Little Rose, be not sad for all that hath behapped thee:
The friars are coming across the sea, they march on the main.
From the Pope shall come thy pardon, and from Rome, from the East-
And stint not Spanish wine to my Little Dark Rose.
Long the journey that I made with her from yesterday till today,
Over mountains did I go with her, under the sails upon the sea,
The Erne I passed by leaping, though wide the flood,
And there was string music on each side of me and my Little Dark Rose!
Thou hast slain me, O my bride, and may it serve thee no whit,
For the soul within me loveth thee, not since yesterday nor today,
Thou has left me weak and broken in mien and in shape,
Betray me not who love thee, my Little Dark Rose!
I would walk the dew with thee and the meadowy wastes,
In hope of getting love from thee, or part of my will,
Frangrant branch, thou didst promise me that thou hadst for me love-
And sure the flower of all Munster is Little Dark Rose!
Had I a yoke of horses I would plough against the hills,
In middle-Mass I'd make a gospel of my Little Dark Rose,
I'd give a kiss to the young girl that would give her mouth to me,
And behind the liss would lie embracing my Little Dark Rose!
The Erne shall rise in rude torrents, hills shall be rent,
The sea shall roll in red waves, and blood be poured out,
Every mountain glen in Ireland, and the bogs shall quake
Some day ere shall perish my Little Dark Rose

To the Editor:

JoAnn Fitzpatrick's column on religious resistance to the Obama contraceptive mandate was a cacophony of inaccuracies, invidious stereotypes, spleen venting complaints, and simmering resentments (COMPLETE DISCONNECT, February 18-19, 2012).

In her rancor towards the Catholic Church over moral issues --- so typical of the bourgeois Catholics of the 1960's --- Fitzpatrick dismisses the significant threat to religious liberty contained in the President's decision to require contraceptive, abortifacient, and sterilization coverage in health insurance plans.

In an unprecedented expansion of state power, the federal government --- by an executive branch regulation --- will coerce Catholic employers into subsidizing, through their insurance carriers, practices abhorrent to their consciences. That is why Baptists, Evangelicals, Lutherans, Eastern Orthodox Christians, and Jews, have joined Catholics in opposing this bureaucratic aggression against the First Amendment.

Sincerely,

Mr. Romney: Did you force Catholic Hospitals or Did they Volunteer to Hand Out Abortifacients?

The Boston Globe asked the Romney spokesperson to explain the discrepancy between the facts of record and Romney's assertions.

1. They evaded answering questions about the alleged volunteers:

Asked about Romney’s debate statement, Romney spokesman Ryan Williams did not address Romney’s claim that the requirement was voluntary, but stressed Romney’s opposition to the law.

It seems to me that they are trying to evade answering a critical question. Did the Governor force Catholic Hospitals into handing out abortifacients or did the the Cardinal volunteer?

And, it gets curiouser:

2. They lied; and 3. It appears Romney looked and looked in 2005 but could not find laws that provide Catholics with legal exemptions:

“Governor Romney – as Planned Parenthood complained at that time – fought at every stage against a state law that would have required Catholic hospitals to provide emergency contraceptives despite objections based on religious conscience,” Williams said. “Facing an 85 percent Democrat legislature, he vetoed the bill and explored using his executive power to provide an exemption from the law based on conscience.”

Well now...I'm confused.

This explanation still leave us guessing whether Romney has figured it all out, or whether he is still...clueless.

Are we to assume that since the 2005 exploration, the GOP put the Constitution under Romney's nose?

If he didn't know the laws existed in 2005, and how to use them, how could he possibly have the intellect to put all the pieces together now?

Furthermore, he is not giving an accurate account of events in 2005.

His own health department and numerous attorneys on his staff and lawyers who are experts in the area of religious freedom, showed him the laws that provided exemption. Many meetings and phone calls took place. Yet, in spite of the discovery we know happened, what Romney did was use the power of his executive office to issue an edict that Catholics were not to be afforded their legal exemptions. Because, he had feelings in his heart of hearts that Catholics should be forced to give out abortifacients.

Why be evasive, Gov. Romney?

Did the Catholic Church volunteer or did you have a widdle feeling in your heart of hearts and issue the same illegal edict against Catholics you now say you oppose?

Catholics voters have a right to know.

This is Visible to Me at Every Mass

I cannot imagine being invited to these mystical events, sitting before them, and not entering the prayer that takes you there.

Hat tip to Philip Johnson for the amazing picture.

Did Romney Lie About Cardinal O'Malley Volunteering with Emergency Abortifacients at Catholic Hospitals?

Excellent article and chronology at Boston Catholic Insider.

KING (Moderator): Governor Romney, both Senator Santorum and Speaker Gingrich have said during your tenure as governor, you required Catholic hospitals to provide emergency contraception to rape victims.

And Mr. Speaker, you compared the governor to President Obama, saying he infringed on Catholics’ rights.

Governor, did you do that?

ROMNEY: No, absolutely not. Of course not.

There was no requirement in Massachusetts for the Catholic Church to provide morning-after pills to rape victims. That was entirely voluntary on their part. There was no such requirement.”

I've spoken to numerous prolife grassroots leaders since last evening about Romney's assertions that Cardinal O'Malley volunteered to give Catholic doctors, nurses and pharmacists an order to hand about abortifacients at Catholic Hospitals.

Romney certainly lying about his public interpretation about how he would enforce the law. The official public policy machine of the Massachusetts Bishops, the Massachusetts Catholic Conference, is on the record defending religious exemptions provided to us through both state and constitutional law.

Yet, when Romney made his assertions last night, I smelled the sulfur of Bryan Hehir, who was the Cardinal's representative and spokesperson for Caritas Christi and Secretariat for Health and Human Services.

While the Mass Catholic Conference and prolife Catholics were testifying against Romney's unlawful mandate, is it possible that Cardinal O'Malley sent Bryan Hehir under the radar to tell Romney that he would voluntarily order Catholic Hospitals to hand out abortifacients?

Is this what Bryan Hehir was eluding to when he testified to the 'fair adjudication' of Catholic conscience protections in a society?

Romney has made very serious allegations against Cardinal O'Malley.

Were our conscience protections adjudicated by Cardinal O'Malley?

I think we have a right to know the answer.

Is Romney accusing Cardinal O'Malley of voluntarily ordering Catholic Hospitals to give out abortifacients?

Did you hear it?

Romney said this evening, he never forced the Catholic Church to give out abortifacients. He said, that was all done voluntarily.

Really?

None of this happened then?

"In the end, neither amendment was included in the bill," said the Massachusetts Catholic Conference. "House Majority Leader John Rogers, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to defend the hospitals' right of conscience, made it clear during floor debate on July 21 that the House blocked the Senate amendment so that the 1975 conscience statute would continue to have full effect."

The conference provided me with a copy of this bulletin, and Rogers assured me its account was "accurate and true."

The Catholic Church still opposed the bill because it would facilitate abortions. But at least the religious liberty of Catholic hospitals had been preserved -- or so it seemed.

On July 25, 2005, Romney vetoed the bill -- even though it was clear his veto would be overridden.

He published an op-ed in the Boston Globe the next day explaining his decision. "The bill does not involve only the prevention of conception," he wrote. "The drug it authorizes would also terminate life after conception." Romney said the veto kept his pledge not to change the state's abortion laws.

Romney made no mention of the religious liberty issue in his op-ed. But then, the bill, as the Massachusetts Catholic Conference and the House majority leader understood it, did not allow coercion of Catholic hospitals.

On Dec. 7, 2005, a week before the law was to take effect, the Boston Globe ran a piece headlined: "Private Hospitals Exempt on Pill Law." The article said the state Department of Public Health had determined that the emergency contraception law "does not nullify a statute passed years ago that says privately run hospitals cannot be forced to provide abortions or contraception."

Public Health Commissioner Paul Cote Jr. told the Globe: "We felt very clearly that the two laws don't cancel each other out and basically work in harmony with each other."

Romney spokesman Fehrnstrom told the Globe that Romney agreed with the Department of Public Health on the issue. The governor, he said, "respects the views of health care facilities that are guided by moral principles on this issue."

"The staff of DPH did their own objective and unbiased legal analysis," Romney's spokesman told the Globe. "The brought it to us, and we concur in it."

The Globe itself ruefully bowed to this legal analysis. It ran an editorial headlined: "A Plan B Mistake." "The legislators failed, however," the Globe said, "to include wording in the bill explicitly repealing a clause in an older statute that gives hospitals the right, for reasons of conscience, not to offer birth control services."

Liberals joined in attacking Romney's defense of Catholic hospitals. But that defense did not last long.

The same day the Globe ran its editorial, Romney held a press conference. Now he said his legal counsel had advised him the new emergency contraception law did trump the 1975 conscience law.

"On that basis, I have instructed the Department of Public Health to follow the conclusion of my own legal counsel and to adopt that sounder view," Romney said. "In my personal view, it's the right thing for hospitals to provide information and access to emergency contraception to anyone who is a victim of rape."

According to Romney tonight, he wasn't involved in the enforcement, enforcement was volunteered.

The only person with the authority to "volunteer" Catholic Hospitals, is Cardinal O'Malley.

Is Romney accusing Cardinal O'Malley of voluntarily ordering Catholic Hospitals to give out abortifacients or is this another one of his bold-faced lies?

Ex-Judge Christina Harms' Heinous Cruelty Costs Her Job

A Massachusetts ex-judge was in the news here today boo-hooing about the withdrawal of a job offer after BU found out she was a monster.

A retired Massachusetts judge on Tuesday defended her decision to order a mentally ill woman to have an abortion and be sterilized against her wishes, and she blasted Boston University for rescinding a job offer after her ruling sparked controversy.

Christina Harms said she believes the schizophrenic woman would have chosen to have an abortion if she had been mentally competent. In her ruling, she granted a petition from the woman’s parents to have their daughter declared incompetent and awarded guardianship to them for the purpose of consenting to the abortion.

Get that?

The woman was lucid to express that she is a practicing Catholic and against abortion. She was lucid enough to go to her doctor and make the sound decision to come off of medication that would harm her baby. When the people around her were coercing her into an abortion, she was lucid enough to get herself an attorney to defend her freedom and the life of her child.

But Christina Harms - got to love the irony of her name - said she knew, in spite of all this, that the woman would choose to have an abortion to protect her well being.

That is some gift of clairvoyance. No matter what people say and do, Christina Harms can do the thinking for all of us. She's an extension of everyone's brains.

The Appeals court overturn Harms' ruling:

In overturning Harms’ decision, the Appeals Court used unusually strong language.

The court said no one had requested sterilization and said Harms “appears to have simply produced the requirement out of thin air.’’

Harms said she based her sterilization order on concerns that the woman had had two previous pregnancies and would continue to have unprotected sex, unplanned pregnancies and therefore “serial abortions.’’ The woman had aborted one of her earlier pregnancies. Her parents are raising a child she gave birth to from the other pregnancy.

What is that supposed to mean? Women on the welfare rolls for women with children from numerous men should be involuntarily sterilized?

Adolf Hitler eat your heart out.

After the inhumane, unconstitutional and cruel treatment of Catholic woman was made public, the job she applied for at Boston University was not offered.

Cry me a river.

The Obama Arrests of People Praying in Front of the White House

Anyone know what happened here?

Occupy Wall Street folks squatted on land, offices and other public and private places in Washington DC. They were lewd and lascivious. Had open sex. Boozers. Drug addicts. Thugs who terrorized and in some cases destroyed public and private property. The government embraced it all.

I would be deeply concerned that on a day when Catholics show up to pray, the government of the Obama had them arrested.

Is that what happened?

I've watched this tape a few times and I'm not sure.

Did these good folks cross into a homeland security area in front of the White House to pray?

If so, that's a bit of a..horse of a different color.

There are areas around the White House blockaded to protect a sitting President. I agree with arresting anyone who enters into that zone for any reason. If you do so, you're probably going there to get arrested. There are times in history when that is called for. But are we at that point? I'm not convinced.

There's no such thing as an official code of ethics in civil unrest - but if we go that route, it has to be led in a way that honors things like the security policies of a sitting president. (Even if we can't stand him!)

I am concerned about the pitch of crossing homeland security barriers for a number of reasons. Protests, unfortunately, attract mentally and emotionally unbalanced people who are not part of a particular movement. Rather, they are attracted to the energy of the unrest. A mentally unbalanced person may not know your mission from a hole in the wall, nor do they care. They're simply unstable and they feed off of drama and could potentially do something that can implode your ministry and mission.

Years ago, the life-saving work of Operation Rescue was impeded when John Salvi went into two abortion clinics and mowed people down with a gun. Though Salvi's presence was independent from Operation Rescue, his actions were pinned on them. Not only was the incident used to create legal 'buffer zones', where the work of saving lives is impeded, it gave enemies of sidewalk counseling and prayer an excuse to petition the Cardinal to issue an edict to stop this precious ministry.

We are in some crazy times.

I appreciate the zeal of people who want to call attention to our plight by crossing a homeland security barrier. But, do we really want to do something at this point in time to give them the excuse they need limit our rights to gather and protest?

What if we get closer to the deadline of this HHS Mandate and nothing substantive has been worked out through the branches of government?

There are ramifications to crossing homeland security barriers that I'm not convinced is the right stratagem at this time. Picket, pray, protest - but keep it moving and don't step on the toes of homeland security. It raises the pitch to a level where the dogs can hear it.

We will need to conduct ourselves in a way that preserves our right to legally demonstrate the unrest in a way that honors the sanctity of every life. Where nobody feels threatened. Let me rephrase that because prayer threatens some folks: Where nobody feels their lives are threatened.

There may be a time and place for civil unrest/protest in some rather large numbers. Thankfully, Obama is a supporter of protesting to get the message through. Wouldn't it be delightful if he looked out and saw a million or two Catholics camping out in DC until everyone got the message? We might need to pray on every corner of Washington, DC.

Maybe I have it all wrong. God knows these are brave souls who dedicate themselves to our mission. But I can't help thinking we ought stay away from supplying them with ammunition.

Joe McCarthy - He Who Laughs Last, Last Best

I've been having a little offline discussion with some Catholic writers about where the Mystical Body of Christ is at this point in time. I have a lot of nerve, actually, because I really don't know where we are in following Christ to His Passion, Death and Resurrection. Maybe Gethsemene? The Apostles have just woken up to find they are seizing Christ?

Maybe we are further along. I don't know. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter where we are.

I wasn't trying to pinpoint the exact location. My effort was more about bringing the spiritual battle between the powers and principalities into their political focus...the battle for the soul of our country that can't be seen with human eyes. Some in the group can see the battle more than the others. Some are oblivious to it. Their political observances and philosophies are superficial, without supernatural substance.

My objective in the conversation was to get them to cast their net into the deep. To stop thinking and writing things that obscure truth, puts the shinola on nefarious agendas, throws grenades at the army of God, under a caricature of mr and ms congeniality. We have a limited window of opportunity to mitigate the consequences of cowardice and complacency. It's time to cut the baloney and tee up some zeal. People aren't going to do that until they can get over themselves, see what is going on in the spiritual world and respond to the call.

Public writing isn't all it is cracked up to be when your fiat is all about evangelism, Catholicism, the Sacraments. There are spiritual battles within the battle that wash up on your shore. Sometimes you are ill-prepared for them. Sometimes you have your own going on. It really take a lot of examination and discipline to take a stab at responding to each particular situation for the glory of God. It is never as simple as blowing out opinions or responding to defend something you've written because your credibility and reputation, your ego is at stake. Your prayers are vital. Thank you for them.

Everything a Catholic needs to know about 'politics' is in the Book of Revelation. It is just all a matter of when, how and who. Let us face it: Who wants to be the generation that lives through that ugly mess. We could be centuries away. It could last for centuries. As it has before. Still, I do think the United States is teetering on the edge of the communism the democratic party has been ushering in for decades. Joe McCarthy is having a good last laugh. While I doubt Obama even realizes what he has subscribed to - there is little doubt now: he is rolling out communism.

This is an excellent article illuminating the pre-communist era Obama and the Democrats are ushering in.

Another good source of illumination to the transition to communism is He Leadeth Me.

Catholic writers have got to cease and desist from glossing it over. Time to give it everything we've got. Maybe God, in His Mercy, will let this cup pass.

Against Contraception Without Apology

Our own Fr. Landry (Fall River Diocese)... in The New York Times!

Fugghet about putting on a fake pregnant belly. This is what authentic compassion for women looks like.

Father Landry worries that other priests’ reticence keeps Catholics in the dark on church teachings on contraception. “In most places,” he said, “they don’t hear about it because there are a lot of priests who are conflict-averse, and when you preach in a way that people aren’t pleased, not only do you lose parishioners, but you lose their budget envelopes along with them, and you’ll also get some nasty e-mails and face-to-face conversations.”

Father Landry, 41, is balding, ruddy and blue-eyed, and he speaks quickly and confidently. He gives his parishioners the stiff, 80-proof doctrine: the church hierarchy bans all artificial contraception, and the withdrawal method. The only permissible forms of birth control are abstinence and “natural family planning,” using knowledge of a woman’s cycle to restrict intercourse to times when she is unlikely to conceive.

Take the time to read the article and witness God's grace in the vocation of this priest. We are so blessed to have him and the couple of handfuls of priests in Massachusetts who are equally gifted.

Ok - so that's the good news.

The not so good news?

Cardinal O'Malley has Bob Bowwow Bowers teaching pre cana at The Paulist Center.

I didn't even realize he was still a priest. I thought was defrocked or walked away from his vocation. He's been on a toot/leave of absence for close to ten years. He doesn't call himself "Fr." anymore.

Here's a few articles on Bowwow Bowers:

Here.

Here.

Here.

In your wildest delusions, can you imagine this individual on a list to teach young couples Pre-Cana?

I shouldn't be surprised, because Cardinal O'Malley has repeatedly demonstrated it's exactly what he really loves when it comes to teaching doctrine about marriage and human sexuality. But, even I was surprised the Cardinal would be so bold as to make Bowwow Bowers an official resource for young couples entering into the Sacrament of Marriage.

Quite a comparison between these two priests, eh?

Why I don't go to Church

Uncle Sam Wants Men...

...to wear a fake pregnancy belly onto the battlefield.

What's next? Tampons and bras?

Those poor men. God help them.

Santorum Leading Romney Nationally by Eight Points

THIS has to be prayer! Wow.

By the way..do you hear the deafening silence from Anne Fox and MCFL?

When a real prolifer is gaining on the candidates who give Mass Citizens for Life money, sit by your computer and wait for MCFL to help the prolifer get elected. When you see bupkis, you'll know it's them.

Their silence is actually an improvement from the passive-aggressive press releases to sabotage prolife candidates. Her usual and customary talking point 'he won't get momentum/can't win' would be limited to people who don't read secular newspapers. So hopefully, she's stumped.

Of all the money e'er I had,
I spent it in good company.
And all the harm I've ever done,
Alas! it was to none but me.
And all I've done for want of wit
To mem'ry now I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be with you all.

Oh, all the comrades e'er I had,
They're sorry for my going away,
And all the sweethearts e'er I had,
They'd wish me one more day to stay,
But since it falls unto my lot,
That I should rise and you should not,
I gently rise and softly call,
Good night and joy be with you all.

If I had money enough to spend,
And leisure time to sit awhile,
There is a fair maid in this town,
That sorely has my heart beguiled.
Her rosy cheeks and ruby lips,
I own she has my heart in thrall,
Then fill to me the parting glass,
Good night and joy be with you all.

Romney Needs a New Game Plan. Huh?

Romney needs to figure out a new case for himself. And unrelenting attacks on the latest interloper to challenge his "inevitability" may become less effective because Romney has gone there so often.

OMG.

Is it possible we'll see another round of the Mittens reinventing himself?

The worst part for Romney is that the best case against Santorum on the matter of electability involves the former Pennsylvania senator's positions on social issues, which are well to the right of the center. Yet if he goes after Santorum as too socially conservative, Romney risks casting himself to Santorum's left on social and moral questions. And it is precisely Romney's image as an inconstant conservative that created an opening for Santorum in the first place.

Romney has been for and against the same things so many times, every political portfolio known to mankind has been exhausted.

To slice the throat of his competitor, he's got to undermine who he now claims himself to be.

The game is at check mate.

Obama's Wizards Claim There's Been a Compromise; Wants Lawsuit Thrown Out.

“Plaintiff’s challenge to the preventive services coverage regulations is not fit for judicial review because defendants [Obama and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius] have indicated that they will propose and finalize changes to the regulations that are intended to accommodate plaintiff’s religious objections to providing contraception coverage,” the Department of Justice (DOJ) wrote in its brief to the Washington, D.C. District Court.

OMG. That's a legal argument from the Department of Justice?

Excuse us. But, when an objection is raised, it only becomes an accommodation or a compromise when both parties agree to them.

“Apparently, the administration has decided that the mandate, as written and finalized, is constitutionally indefensible,” said Hannah Smith, senior counsel at The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty “Its only hope is to ask the court to look the other way based on an empty promise to possibly change the rules in the future.”

The administration’s legal filing relies on an announcement by President Obama at a February 10 press conference, in which he stated that the rules may be changed in the future. But that announcement is not legally binding and does nothing to change the law on the books, which is already harming religious organizations like Belmont Abbey College, Smith explains.

Is it me, or is this a no-brainer?

A judge can't dismiss a lawsuit when one of the parties in the alleged compromise is still raising objections because there hasn't been a compromise or accommodation.

These are the legal braniacs of the President of the United States?

I'd expect better arguments from a high school debate team.

Kinda scary.

Good Stuff on Obama

Subject: Charles Krauthammer

Dr. Krauthammer is frequently on the Fox News Channel. He is an M.D., a lawyer and is paralyzed from the neck down. A friend went to hear Charles Krauthammer. He listened with 25 others in a closed room. What he says here is NOT 2nd-hand but 1st. The ramifications are staggering for us, our children and their children.

Last Monday was a profound evening. Dr. Charles Krauthammer spoke to the Center for the American Experiment. He is a brilliant intellectual, seasoned & articulate. He is forthright and careful in his analysis and never resorts to emotions or personal insults. He is NOT a fear monger nor an extremist in his comments and views. He is a fiscal conservative and has received a Pulitzer Prize for writing. He is a frequent contributor to Fox News and writes weekly for the Washington Post.

The entire room was held spellbound during his talk. I have summarized his comments, as we are living in uncharted waters economically and internationally. Even 2 Dems at my table agreed with everything he said! If you feel like forwarding this to those who are open minded and have not drunk the Kool-Aid, feel free....

Summary of his comments:

1. Mr Obama is a very intellectual, charming individual. He is not to be underestimated. He is a cool customer who doesn't show his emotions. It's very hard to know what's behind the mask. The taking down of the Clinton dynasty was an amazing accomplishment. The Clintons still do not understand what hit them. Obama was in the perfect place at the perfect time.

2. Obama has political skills comparable to Reagan and Clinton. He has a way of making you think he's on your side, agreeing with your position, while doing the opposite. Pay no attention to what he SAYS; rather, watch what he DOES!

3. Obama has a ruthless quest for power. He did not come to Washington to make something out of himself but rather to change everything, including dismantling capitalism. He can't be straightforward on his ambitions, as the public would not go along. He has a heavy hand and wants to level the playing field with income redistribution and punishment to the achievers of society. He would like to model the USA to Great Britain or Canada .

4. His three main goals are to control ENERGY, PUBLIC EDUCATION and NATIONAL HEALTHCARE by the Federal government. He doesn't care about the auto or financial services industries but got them as an early bonus. The cap and trade will add costs to everything and stifle growth. Paying for FREE college education is his goal. Most scary is his healthcare program because if you make it FREE and add 46,000,000 people to a Medicare-type single-payer system, the costs will go through the roof. The only way to control costs is with massive RATIONING of services, like in Canada .. God forbid!

5. He has surrounded himself with mostly far-left academic types. No one around him has ever even run a candy store. But they are going to try and run the auto, financial, banking and other industries. This obviously can't work in the long run. Obama is not a socialist; rather he's a far-left secular progressive bent on nothing short of revolution. He ran as a moderate but will govern from the hard left. Again, watch what he DOES, not what he says.

6. Obama doesn't really see himself as President of the United States but more as a ruler over the world. He sees himself above it all, trying to orchestrate & coordinate various countries and their agendas. He sees moral equivalency in all cultures. His apology tour in Germany and England was a prime example of how he sees America as an imperialist nation that has been arrogant, rather than a great noble nation that has at times made errors. This is the first President, ever , who has chastised our allies and appeased our enemies!

7. He is now handing out goodies. He hopes that the bill (and pain) will not come due until after he is reelected in 2012. He would like to blame all problems on Bush, from the past, and hopefully his successor in the future. He has a huge ego and Dr. Krauthammer believes he is a narcissist.

8. Republicans are in the wilderness for a while but will emerge strong. Republicans are pining for another Reagan but there will never be another like him. Krauthammer believes Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty & Bobby Jindahl (except for his terrible speech in February) are the future of the party. Newt Gingrich is brilliant but has baggage. Sarah Palin is sincere and intelligent but needs to really be seriously boning up on facts and info if she is to be a serious candidate in the future. We need to return to the party of lower taxes, smaller government, personal responsibility, strong national defense and State's Rights.

9. The current level of spending is irresponsible and outrageous. We are spending trillions that we don't have. This could lead to hyperinflation, depression or worse. No country has ever spent themselves into prosperity. The Media is givingObama, Reid and Pelosi a Pass because they love their agenda. But eventually the bill will come due and people will realize the huge bailouts didn't work, nor will the stimulus package. These were trillion-dollar payoffs to Obama's allies, unions and the Congress to placate the left, so he can get support for #4 above.

10. The election was over in mid-September when Lehman brothers failed, fear and panic swept in,we had an unpopular President, and the war was grinding on indefinitely without a clear outcome. The people are in pain and the mantra of change caused people to act emotionally. Any Dem would have won this election; it was surprising it was as close as it was.

11. In 2012, if the unemployment rate is over 10%, Republicans will be swept back into power. If it's under 8%, the Dems continue to roll. If it's between 8-10%, it will be a dogfight. It will all be about the economy. I hope this gets you really thinking about what's happening in Washington and Congress. There is a left-wing revolution going on, according to Krauthammer, and he encourages us to keep the faith and join the loyal resistance. The work will be hard but we're right on most issues and can reclaim our country before it's far too late.

Catholic League Rips Elijah Cummings and Catholics United a New One

It's no brainer: The same reasons why the Klu Klux Klan wasn't chosen.

Catholics United is a group organized to kill The Mystical Body of Christ.

When you pick experts to testify on the ramifications to Catholics being "mandated" to collaborate in the ethnic cleansing of the poor and uncatechized, you don't choose people who disavow the tenets and doctrines of the Catholic religion.

They're Klu Klux Klan Katholics.

That's why.

A report from CMR on the hearing HERE. There are fantastic links to the testimony.

The sleazeball antics of the democrats is a compelling witness of their incivility and disrespect for diversity and the unity of our country.

Obama's done a swell job of changing politics in Washington. If he was trying to sabotage America, he couldn't have done a better job.

Oh...wait.

Please add this spectacular news to your prayers!!

More detailed info on the appeal HERE.

God Bless all those involved in the correction of this grave injustice.

Open Letter to Sr. Carol Keehan

To: srcarolk

Subject: Your new statement

+
IHS

Dear Sr. Keehan:

Would you kindly clarify the context of your latest statement?

I am particularly interested in a clarification of who "we" is in the following sentence?:

The impact of being told we do not fit the new definition of a religious employer and therefore cannot operate our ministries following our consciences hasjolted us.

You and your employees?

Why should YOU be afforded protections every other jolted Catholic business owner is not?

By your own hand, you will now, like the rest of us, have to contract with your insurance company to provide the uncatechized and the poor with tools for the destruction of their immortal soul. Not only will the carrying out of each act of destruction involve YOU and the uncatechized/poor soul you have led into temptation, the contract will require the hiring of a third party to commit the act. You've managed a trilogy.

It would be better for you on your day of judgment to simply keep a free stack of pills in your office and hand them out to souls who will fall into the temptation you have laid before them. The evil you have brought upon Christ's Church and our country is incalculable.

If the objective was the ethnic cleansing of the promiscuous and the poor, all that would be necessary is for the pills to be provided for free right at the pharmacy. This entire thing is a charade.

God sees what you have done. Sunt mala quae libas. Ipse venena bibas.

*******************

Hey kids - it looks like Dug in Deep is over at Fr. Z's slinging the malarkey we didn't buy here. If you have an account with Fr. Z, please set the record straight and drive it out!

Would Obama consult al queda for Homeland Security policies?

If the man is this stupid, maybe the answer is impeachment

I think its safe to assume Obama knows the expertise and authority to advise him on an acceptablle solution to giving the uncatechized and poor ethnic cleansing pills is the heirarchal appointee of the Pope, not Sr.Carol Keehan.

I can appreciate the Register's article, but don't the Bishops have to say this publicly in order to officially declare who has the teaching authority and Deposit of Faith?

Isn't Carol Keehan implying she is the Pope's go-to gal for the Deposit of Faith?

This is the moment to establish unity and clarity.

The Bishops need to publicly declare that Sr. Carol Keehan is a know nothing, without the authority to speak for the Catholic Church.

Obama's Epic Blunder

Some astute observations in this op-ed (and some not so astute...)

I’ve found by observing this president closely for years,” argues Daily Beast contributor Andrew Sullivan, “that what often seem like short-term tactical blunders turn out in the long run to be strategically shrewd. And if this was a trap, the religious right walked right into it.” Religious conservatives are now identified, he says, with “opposition to contraception.” Republicans have achieved “fusion with the Vatican.” Obama is evidently playing the very deep game.

Consider the implications of this praise. It means that Obama assaulted the core beliefs of some of his fellow citizens in order to lure them into politically self-destructive behavior. The president is willing to trifle with the constitutional rights of religious people to get a rise out of them. In this scenario, Obama is a Machiavellian monster, undeserving of high office.

A Machiavellian monster is precisely what he is. He's finally showing his true colors.

First, Obama has made clear who is part of his ideological coalition and who is not. Discussions on the structure and restructuring of the contraceptive policy were conducted between the administration and pro-choice and feminist groups. The institutions targeted by the mandate — particularly those represented by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops — were not in the room. The administration engaged in no substantive consultation with Catholic bishops, who were only called to receive pronouncements. Interest-group liberalism is alive and well in the Obama White House...

Second, the administration has consistently adopted and applied a view of religious liberty so narrow it imposes almost no limits on federal action...

Third, Obama has surrendered his main political appeal to religious voters from the last election — his embrace of faith-based social service providers. Any attempt to repeat this outreach will seem absurdly disconnected from reality...

Fourth, with a single miscalculation, Obama has managed to unite economic and social conservatives in outrage against government activism and energize religious conservatives in a way Mitt Romney could never manage. Culture-war debates in America are evenly divided. But the objects of culture-war aggression do not easily forget.

I do wonder if he knows what he's gotten himself into. What the 2000 years of martyrdom means.

Bishops Expose Six more Flaws

Barack Hussein didnt even bother to institute the "compromise".

I wonder if they will blither on during the election about how important it is toweigh weigh welfare reforms against the genocide of the poor and uncatechized.

Think we are done with that?

Obama Pretends He Doesn't Know The Difference Between The Pope and the Dopes

I can't believe this...but Maria was right.

Obama is pretending Carol Keehan's disobedience to religious law is equivocal to the authority of the Pope.

"I can't speak to differences within the Catholic Church,"

White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew said on Fox News Sunday when reminded that "the most powerful statement by the Catholic Church in this country" was a denunciation of Obama's att empt at accomodation. "I would point to the statement put out by the Catholic Health Association which knows a fair amount about what it requires to [provide] health care in this country," he added.

They don't know what the differences are within the Catholic Church and can't speak to them.

In their ignorance they knew exactly how to avoid getting the official answers on Catholic ethics and religious liberty. What a coincidence.

Wow. They're either really stupid or pathological liars.

Maybe they're both?

Obama says he's done negotiating with Catholics

The compromise meets our concerns, he said.

Though the Catholic Church has told him it hasn't, and has made that public, Obama is making like a ventriloquist in speaking for the Catholic Church. A compromise has been reached, he says.

Aren't both sides usually involved in a compromise?

Nobody from the Catholic Church is involved in the compromise, so how can it be reached betwixt the parties?

Kinda creepy.

Like a dictator creepy.

Do you think the dictatorship has commenced?

What is going on in Syria?

How sad is it when the world has become so chaotic that you can't keep up with the madness?

I kept reading headlines this week with the intention to catch up to the news and just saw this.

Of course that's what is happening. As if we didn't know.

What is going on in Syria is the same thing that is going on everywhere else. Obama's allies and friends are using terror and violence to take over another country.

Mighty nice of Doug Kmiec and Sr. Carol Keehan to coerce American women to line up and take their free pills to kill the Mystical Body of Christ and their children. It's an ugly job cleaning up the blood if Obama and company have to stoop to this level.

I think they'll come for us at some point. Right after they get the Jews would be my guess.

Wake up America. For the love of Christ, wake up.

Anne Fox of MCFL is the Massachusetts Doug Kmiec

Anne Fox and MCFL is beginning to chalk up more of a history contradicting, rebutting and damaging the pro-life agenda than working for it.

C. J. Doyle, executive director of the Catholic Action League of Massachusetts, acknowledges that Romney did well to veto the bill, but was displeased by his decision to heed his lawyers’ advice and nullify the older conscience statute. “It was Governor Romney who effectively pulled the rug out from under Catholic hospitals by coming up with this rather novel, unheard-of interpretation of this pre-existing statute,” he says.

Anne Fox, president of Massachusetts Citizens for Life, reflects on the incident with more sympathy for Romney. “His lawyers came in and said, ‘This is the way it has to be,’” she says of the December 2005 incident. “I’m not sure how many people would have said, ‘Well, I don’t care.’ I don’t know what else he might have done.”

In January, the Romney campaign quoted Fox in an e-mail to supporters, saying, “Romney has had a consistent commitment to the culture of life” since he was elected as governor, without commenting on his other actions.

“The veto,” she says, “was a big thing.”

The veto was a dog and pony show. He knew they had the votes to trump the veto.

It wouldn't be so painful if she were simply making an ass out of herself, but she is making an ass out of the very logic we need to use on the exact same order Obama is now giving Catholic Hospitals. We had state and federal laws protecting Catholics in Catholic Hospitals and Romney chose to trump it with an order.

Anne doesn't seem to have her facts right. Romney has numerous lawyers on his staff. There might have been one that told him that federal and state laws didn't protect Catholics from being forced to give abortifacients but others whose only agenda is interpretation of the law told him the law does protect Catholics. We had numerous constitutional lawyers of our own sit down with Romney and point him to the laws.

He didn't make his decision based on the law. He made it because he said he did not hold the law protecting Catholic conscience protections in his heart of hearts. Romney said his deepest convictions, in his heart of hearts, was that giving abortofacients free of charge was more important than Catholic conscience protections. He is the author of obamacare, replete with taxpayer funded abortions.

Can anyone make sense out of her chicanery?

What could possibly be her gripe with Obama? Obamacare is the law and the lawyers are telling Obama that's just the way it is. How could he say "well I don't care?"

We are surrounded by useful idiots.

Rick did an op ed at Politico that nailed it:

"He said then that he believed 'in his heart of hearts' that receiving these contraceptives – free of charge – trumped employees' religious consciences. Now, a few years later and running for president, his heart is strategically aligned with religious voters opposing this federal mandate," wrote Santorum in Politico.

Here's Romney's exact quote:

"My personal view, in my heart of hearts, is that people who are subject to rape should have the option of having emergency contraception or emergency contraception information," Romney said in 2005, according to Gitcho.

When it comes right down to it, as it stands now, Romney violations of the constitutional rights of Catholics was worse than Obama's. Why is she still shilling for Romney? Has she or MCFL come out to endorse, help, support Rick Santorum?

Anne. Put a sock in it. Please.

Immaculate Contraception - an "Accommodation" that Makes the Birth Control Mandate Worse

Romney Loses More Momentum at CPAC

The Mittens used the word 'conservative' 29 times during his CPAC speech.

“Now ... is a time to reaffirm what it means to be conservative and why this must be our greatest hour as conservatives.” (Hey, that was a two-fer.)

“We conservatives aren't just proud to cling to our guns and to our religion.”

I know conservatism because I have lived conservatism.” (Ding-ding!)

He can say it all he wants. Saying it and being one are two different things.

As our colleague Karen says in the comments section below - we all need a good laugh.

The people I spoke with who were in attendance said the energy was around Santorum at the Conference. Meanwhile, Santorum is surging in the polls in Michigan.

Obama's Sham "Compromise" - Lay people don't have constitutional freedom of religion

Have you notice that Obama's putanas are now claiming that contraception has proven to give women health benefits?

That's right ladies. They're so much better than vitamins and antioxidants, they're going to give them to you for free.

I'll tell you something, as a woman, I'm offended by the implication they think women are this stupid.

You want to give women something good for their health? Give them free groceries and Lancome. How about free eyeglasses for women who can't see without them?

Birth control pills and abortifacients give such enormous health benefits to women they need to be free?

Please. Tell me women are not this stupid.

I digress.

The mandate is law. The "compromise" is a policy. Even if it were a good compromise, which it isn't, it is a policy of a conniving liar. All that stands between the law and the policy is an election.

Let's talk about the creep factor of 'the compromise'. I can't help but to presume that Obama knows the history of American Bishops well and he is relying upon their long history of cowardice to hand their flock over for the slaughter.

What Obama is essentially doing, is putting an offer before the Bishops that creates and arms length from the transaction....for the Bishop. The Bishop will agree to enter into a nefarious contract with the insurance company that puts a layer of people between the Bishop and the the sin of commission to his employees.

The theological and ethical problem with that arrangement is, he is hiring people to commit his sins.

That's not even the worst of it. For the delusion that hiring people to commit his sins will leave him eligible for Heaven, he sacrifices a whopper. He compromises away the conscience protections of every American who doesn't work for him. None of the rest of us will have conscience protections.

Naturally, Carol Keehan is backing it, but it seems she and the two goons at Catholics United are the only people who are willing to sell their soul for this turd.

I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for Kmiec. What's your prediction?

ADDENDUM...

According to Whispers in the Loggia, the Bishops have issued a response. They didn't bite the apple.

“The only complete solution to this religious liberty problem is for HHS to rescind the mandate of these objectionable services.

UPDATE 2

Good analysis by Robby George.

This so-called “accommodation” changes nothing of moral substance and fails to remove the assault on religious liberty and the rights of conscience which gave rise to the controversy. It is certainly no compromise. The reason for the original bipartisan uproar was the administration’s insistence that religious employers, be they institutions or individuals, provide insurance that covered services they regard as gravely immoral and unjust. Under the new rule, the government still coerces religious institutions and individuals to purchase insurance policies that include the very same services.

It is no answer to respond that the religious employers are not “paying” for this aspect of the insurance coverage. For one thing, it is unrealistic to suggest that insurance companies will not pass the costs of these additional services on to the purchasers. More importantly, abortion-drugs, sterilizations, and contraceptives are a necessary feature of the policy purchased by the religious institution or believing individual. They will only be made available to those who are insured under such policy, by virtue of the terms of the policy.

Absolutely correct. The Catholic Church would have to adopt the policies that make birth control available. They would have to add this coverage to their existing policies. We can't do it. And, not only that, the 'accommodation' is adding another layer of sins as we would symbolically wash our hands of our own policy by hiring uncatechized people to commit them.

Furthermore, people who practice the Catholic religion, and need to abide by it's tenets for the purposes of their own salvation, are not afforded their rights in the Constitution to own a business and operate it without violating their own religion under this 'compromise'.

I am still flabbergasted that all this time, he had the power to tell drug companies to give people the pills they need for free if they can't afford them.

Wow. Think he'll extend his magical powers to seniors and the poor, sick and dying who are skimping on lifesaving meds because they can't afford them?

Put your accommodation where the sun doesn't shine, pal. Even the Bishops can finally smell the stink of your sulfur.

The Catholic fight with Obama is getting ugly

A big fugatz on Capitol Hill, with support crumbling among the Democrats.

and EWTN and Priests for Life have filed federal lawsuits. Knowledgeable sources are quietly saying the Bishops' Conference is also revving up to file a federal lawsuit against the Obama Administration.

"The president is very interested in finding the appropriate balance between religious beliefs and convictions -- and he takes those very seriously -- and his commitment to making sure that women of all faiths have access to these important health care preventive services," Carney said Feb. 7.

"We certainly don't want to abridge anyone's religious freedoms, so we are going to look for a way to move forward that both provides women with the preventive care that they need and respects the prerogatives of religious institutions," Axelrod said the same day.

The Bishop's Conference has lost hope in the Rope a Dope. Bishop Dolan says Kathleen Sebelius has terribly misguided judgment and the 'bishops are fighters'. Miracles can happen!

I know you're wondering how the Bishops, whose cowardice, inertia, dissent has caused this problem could deserves our credibility.

I think the short answer is, maybe some of them don't. But, I'm seeing Don Bosco's prophecy here. I've highlighted my thoughts about where we are with the Bishops.

On May 30, 1862 , Don Bosco recounted that in a dream he had seen an immense sea on which a great many ships were arranged for battle against a larger and taller ship. He also saw others which were defending the tall ship. Here are his words:

"In the midst of this endless sea, two solid columns, a short distance apart, soar high into the sky. One is surmounted by a statue of the Immaculate Virgin, at whose feet a large inscriptions reads:" 'Auxilium Christianorum' ('Help of Christians') . The other, far loftier and sturdier, supports a Host of proportionate size, and bears beneath it the inscription: 'Salus credentium' ('Salvation of believers').

"The flagship commander - the Roman Pontiff- standing at the helm, strains every muscle to steer his ship between the two columns, from whose summits hang many anchors and strong hooks linked to chains. The entire enemy fleet closes in to intercept and sink the flagship at all costs. They bombard it with everything they have: books and pamphlets, incendiary bombs, firearms, cannons. The battle rages ever more furious. Beaked prows ram the flagship again and again, but to no avail, as, unscathed and undaunted, it keeps on it course. At times, a formidable ram splinters a gaping hole in its hull, but immediately, a breeze from the two columns instantly seals the gash.

"Meanwhile, enemy cannons blow up; firearms and beaks fall to pieces; ships crack up and sink to the bottom. In blind fury, the enemy takes to hand-to-hand combat, cursing and blaspheming. Suddenly the Pope falls, seriously wounded. He is instantly helped up, but struck a second time, dies. A shout of victory rises from the enemy, and wild rejoicing seeps their ships. But no sooner is the Pope dead than another takes his place. The captains of the auxiliary ships elected him so quickly that the news of the Pope's death coincides with that of his successor's election. The enemy's self-assurance wanes.

"Breaking through all resistance, the new Pope steers his ship safely between the two columns; first, to the one surmounted by the Host, and then the other, topped by the statue of the Virgin. At this point, something unexpected happens. The enemy ships panic and disperse, colliding with and scuttling each other.

"Some auxiliary ships, which had gallantly fought alongside their flagship, are the first to tie up at the two columns. Many others, which had fearfully kept far away from the fight, stand still, cautiously waiting until the wrecked enemy ships vanish under the waves. Then they too head for the two columns, tie up at the swinging hooks and ride safe and tranquil beside their flagship. A great calm now covers the sea. " (memoirs, Vol. VII. Pages 107-108).

Big changes coming. Big.

Another Response from the Archdiocese on the HHS Mandate: Getting better, but we are not there yet.

The good news is, the Cardinal released a nastygram criticizing 'the Administration' for casting aside the First Amendment, denying Catholics fundamental freedom, etc.

He goes on to say, we cannot simply accept the 'unjust law now proposed at the federal level' and he encourages Catholic lay people to stand up and fight. He asks for prayer and fasting and recommends people get behind the lobbying efforts at the USCCB.

This very positive development is slightly mitigated by a the revelation of the surrender. On the one hand, they say they cannot just accept this mandate. On the other hand, they say they are preparing to. It's a bit anticlimatic.

There's a third option which appears to have been taken off the table: Saying they will not comply with the law - because they cannot comply with the law. Complying with the law is actually more than a violation of conscience protections, it is forcing the sin of omission upon the Bishop.

Let's see if we can expose the ethical problem with a little parable.

The White House is saying everyone has to provide their employees with free crack pipes. Preparations are underway to either violate their consciences and give out the free crack pipes or outsource giving their employees free crack pipes to a vendor.

The bishop actually doesn't get to wash his hands of accountability on the commission of outsourcing the free crack pipes to their employees.

There's a show down coming gentlemen. You can't do it. What you need to prepare for is jail and you have the duty to tell the man ahead of time, so he knows what he has on his hands and he can make his decisions accordingly.

Go Santorum!

Wow, eh?

I didn't even turn the television on. Climbed under a rock, afraid to see Romney's smirking face.

What a reprieve. We're back in the saddle baby!

Here's some good links...

On birth control, Romney mirrored Obama. Our friend CJ Doyle is speaking out about the author of violating Catholic Conscience protections.

C.J. Doyle, executive director of the Catholic Action League of Massachusetts, told Salon he didn’t want to “let Romney off the hook because the initial injury to Catholic religious freedom came not from the Obama administration but from Romney’s administration”; he explained that there was a preexisting exemption for religious institutions already in the Massachusetts law that was stripped out on the advice of Romney’s gubernatorial legal counsel. “President Obama’s plan certainly constitutes an assault on the constitutional rights of Catholics, but I’m not sure Governor Romney is in a position to assert that, given his own very mixed record on this.”

Doyle said Romney was “very consistent at working both sides of the street on the same issue,” but his record on this has been “one of cynical and tactical manipulation.”

He agreed that Romney’s old pro-choice agenda has been somewhat overlooked by his conservative religious brethren. Romney can only pray that they hold off, and they may do so just as long as he continues to kowtow to them. Coming out in favor of the Susan G. Komen Foundation’s decision to pull the funding plug on Planned Parenthood covered his right flank this week, though evidently not well enough for conservative voters. Romney said, unequivocally, that the government should follow suit, but yesterday’s election results could complicate his well-documented problems motivating conservative voters.

You've got that right.

Sweet baby Jesus, please..please keep the forked tongues at MCFL, MFI and other Romneybots tied into little knots.

Doug Kmiec's New Letter - Frankly my dear, we don't give a damn.

It's funny, I was just asking around Christendom as to whether anyone had heard from or seen Doug Kmiec - and TA DA!!

Another shameless shill for and to Obama. We want him to succeed. We admire the many things he has done. But please sir, I ask no longer as an ambassador but as a friend, and friendship will not permit me to disregard duty to faith and country, why put the cold calculus of politics above faith and freedom?

..many individuals who stood as people of independent mind against those who sought to defeat your efforts to promote the common good.

There he was, an independent mind, in the midst of all the boogeymen who seek to defeat the common good.

What audacity he has to stand in the public square and say he admires Obama's agenda, wants him to be successful and paint the prolife grassroots as people who seek the defeat of good for their fellow countrymen and women.

This letter is all about him:

I asked you some months ago to explain why you remained silent when our international inter-faith efforts were wrongly assailed. You did not respond.... The Barack Obama I knew would never have asked me to make that choice.

Doug Kmiec put the cold calculus of politics above faith and freedom. The
'common good' agenda he shilled for has all been executed.

We don't know what happened in Malta. Frankly, my dear, we don't give a damn.

A Delayed Tip of the Hat to the "Archdiocese"

Last week, a funeral Mass for former Mayor Kevin White was celebrated at the infamous St. Cecelia's, whose pastor is, the infamous Fr. Unni. TTC readers will remember Fr. Unni for scheduling a clapping fornicators Liturgy last June.

While no doubt Kevin White was a liberal Democrat, I don't ever recall an instance when he used his pulpit to take whacks at the Catholic Church or Catholic teaching. I would credit Mayor White for kicking off the redevelopment and transformation of the City of Boston, particularly our Waterfront, which had fallen into a state of disrepair. He suffered many years with Alzheimer's. May his soul and the soul of all the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Though Mayor White never caused a scandal with Catholic teaching, several Catholics raised concerns to the Archdiocese due to the combination of Fr. Unni's terrible discretion, unfaithfulness to salvation theology and the fact that several local politicians who have caused scandal were scheduled to hijack the funeral to give speeches at Mayor White's Funeral.

I am happy to report that our Rite of Christian Burial was celebrated with dignity, respect and protocol it deserves. It was clear that much went on behind the scenes to avoid a repeat of the disaster at Ted Kennedy's funeral.

Barney Frank and Mayor Tom Menino were permitted time to speak prior to the start of the Liturgy. I wasn't there, but to the best of knowledge and what is reported, other than telling a story using the word 'bleeping', the moments were not used to say something scandalous about Church teaching. They were real eulogies. I suppose you could gripe that they were given the time to do so, but I can truly see it as an act of pastoral compassion. I can't say for sure, but it is my guess, they were given guidelines about what could be said.

To the best of my knowledge, our the Rite of Christian Burial burial was respectfully executed. Bishop Hennessey filled in for the Cardinal who was...ah...you guess it, on a jet somewhere.

We've had a rough couple of years here in Boston. Ok, a rough decade. Catholics who have been robbed of their faith have taken, how shall I say this...unusual methods to expose the dishonesty, dysfunction and corruption that exists internally.

We have a new Vicar General with a kind heart and a no-nonsense reputation. The jury is still out but we are starting to see a few signs that are hopeful.

I thought it was important to salute the obvious efforts behind Mayor White's funeral Mass and to express our gratitude. Thanks to Monsignor Deeley, Bishop Hennessey and others who were behind the orchestration of our beautiful rite.

Pray for us.

More from the Passion

More from the Passion

Amid all these apparitions, Satan held a conspicuous place, under various forms, which represented different species of sins. Sometimes he appeared under the form of a gigantic black figure, sometimes under those of a tiger, a fox, a wolf, a dragon, or a serpent. Not, however, that he really took any of these shapes, but merely some one of their characteristics, joined with other hideous forms. None of these frightful apparitions entirely resembled any creature, but were symbols of abomination, discord, contradiction, and sin—in one word, were demoniacal to the fullest extent. These diabolical figures urged on, dragged, and tore to pieces, before the very eyes of Jesus, countless numbers of those men for whose redemption he was entering upon the painful way of the Cross. At first I but seldom saw the serpent; soon, however, it made its appearance, with a crown upon its head. This odious reptile was of gigantic size, apparently possessed of unbounded strength, and led forward countless legions of the enemies of Jesus in every age and of every nation. Being armed with all kinds of destructive weapons, they sometimes tore one another in pieces, and then renewed their attacks upon our Saviour with redoubled rage. It was indeed an awful sight; for they heaped upon him the most fearful outrages, cursing, striking, wounding, and tearing him in pieces. Their weapons, swords, and spears flew about in the air, crossing and recrossing continually in all directions, like the flails of threshers in an immense barn; and the rage of each of these fiends seemed exclusively directed against Jesus—that grain of heavenly wheat descended to the earth to die there, in order to feed men eternally with the Bread of Life.

Thus exposed to the fury of these hellish bands, some of which appeared to me wholly composed of blind men, Jesus was as much wounded and bruised as if their blows had been real. I saw him stagger from side to side, sometimes raising himself up, and sometimes falling again, while the serpent, in the midst of the crowds whom it was unceasingly leading forward against Jesus, struck the ground with its tail, and tore to pieces or swallowed all whom it thus knocked to the ground.

113

It was made known to me that these apparitions were all those persons who in divers ways insult and outrage Jesus, really and truly present in the Holy Sacrament. I recognised among them all those who in any way profane the Blessed Eucharist. I beheld with horror all the outrages thus offered to our Lord, whether by neglect, irreverence, and omission of what was due to him; by open contempt, abuse, and the most awful sacrileges; by the worship of worldly idols; by spiritual darkness and false knowledge; or, finally, by error, incredulity, fanaticism, hatred, and open persecution. Among these men I saw many who were blind, paralysed, deaf, and dumb, and even children;—blind men who would not see the truth; paralytic men who would not advance, according to its directions, on the road leading to eternal life; deaf men who refused to listen to its warnings and threats; dumb men who would never use their voices in its defence; and, finally, children who were led astray by following parents and teachers filled with the love of the world and forgetfulness of God, who were fed on earthly luxuries, drunk with false wisdom, and loathing all that pertained to religion. Among the latter, the sight of whom grieved me especially, because Jesus so loved children, I saw many irreverent, ill-behaved acolytes, who did not honour our Lord in the holy ceremonies in which they took a part. I beheld with terror that many priests, some of whom even fancied themselves full of faith and piety, also outraged Jesus in the Adorable Sacrament. I saw many who believed and taught the doctrine of the Real Presence, but did not sufficiently take it to heart, for they forgot and neglected the palace, throne, and seat of the Living God; that is to say, the church, the altar, the tabernacle, the chalice, the monstrance, the vases and ornaments; in one word, all that is used in his worship, or to adorn his house.

Entire neglect reigned everywhere, all things were left to moulder away in dust and filth, and the worship of God was, if not inwardly profaned, at least outwardly dishonured. Nor did this arise from real poverty, but from indifference, sloth, preoccupation of mind about vain earthly concerns, and often also from egotism and spiritual death; for I saw neglect of this kind in churches the pastors and congregations of which were rich, or at least tolerably well off. I saw many others in which worldly, tasteless, unsuitable ornaments had replaced the magnificent adornments of a more pious age.

114

I saw that often the poorest of men were better lodged in their cottages than the Master of heaven and earth in his churches. Ah, how deeply did the inhospitality of men grieve Jesus, who had given himself to them to be their Food! Truly, there is no need to be rich in order to receive him who rewards a hundredfold the glass of cold water given to the thirsty; but how shameful is not our conduct when in giving drink to the Divine Lord, who thirsts for our souls, we give him corrupted water in a filthy glass! In consequence of all this neglect, I saw the weak scandalised, the Adorable Sacrament profaned, the churches deserted, and the priests despised. This state of impurity and negligence extended even to the souls of the faithful, who left the tabernacle of their hearts unprepared and uncleansed when Jesus was about to enter them, exactly the same as they left his tabernacle on the altar.

Were I to speak for an entire year, I could never detail all the insults offered to Jesus in the Adorable Sacrament which were made known to me in this way. I saw their authors assault Jesus in bands, and strike him with different arms, corresponding to their various offences. I saw irreverent Christians of all ages, careless or sacrilegious priests, crowds of tepid and unworthy communicants, wicked soldiers profaning the sacred vessels, and servants of the devil making use of the Holy Eucharist in the frightful mysteries of hellish worship. Among these bands I saw a great number of theologians, who had been drawn into heresy by their sins, attacking Jesus in the Holy Sacrament of his Church, and snatching out of his Heart, by their seductive words and promises, a number of souls for whom he had shed his blood. Ah! it was indeed an awful sight, for I Saw the Church as the body of Christ; and all these bands of men, who were separating themselves from the Church, mangled and tore off whole pieces of his living flesh. Alas! he looked at them in the most touching manner, and lamented that they should thus cause their own eternal loss. He had given his own divine Self to us for our Food in the Holy Sacrament, in order to unite in one body—that of the Church, his Spouse— men who were to an infinite extent divided and separated from each other; and now he beheld himself torn and rent in twain in that very body; for his principal work of love, the Holy Communion, in which men should have been made wholly one, was become, by the malice of false teachers, the subject of separation. I beheld whole nations thus snatched out of his bosom, and deprived of any participation in the treasure of graces left to the Church. Finally, I saw all who were separated from the Church plunged into the depths of infidelity, superstition, heresy, and false worldly philosophy; and they gave vent to their fierce rage by joining together in large bodies to attack the Church, being urged on by the serpent which was disporting itself in the midst of them. Alas! it was as though Jesus himself had been torn in a thousand pieces!

So much for our little pity parties.

First Obama Came for the Catholics

Post of interest written by Michelle Malkin HERE.

She duly notes, as everyone else does, that Obama and and his religious bigots have awakened the sleeping giant.

Did you ever think in our lifetime, we would see Bishops Roger Mahoney and Robert Lynch threaten civil disobedience over a sanctity of life issue?

Truly incredulous when you think about it.

From time to time, I've spoken about my own journey of tapping into the mystical gifts of the Church. (Though, I shouldn't call it a journey because I was dragged there unwillingly.)

When you have made a visit to the mystical world, even when you are at a distance from it, you can feel its energy. As intensely as you can feel the wind of an unexpected and approaching tornado. 99.9% of the time, you don't know what it is, but you feel it. 0.01% of the time, whether angelic or demonic, it grabs enough of your attention, maybe even curiosity, to pursue further observation, processing.

I read enough, observed enough, felt enough to recognize the mystical in Blessed John Paul II. Nearing the end of his reign, I would hear him say that we are approaching the Springtime of the Church.

Living in the theological and political armpit of the universe, where the seeds of communism and persecution of the Catholic Church were planting themselves, I couldn't imagine what on earth the man was talking about.

I wanted to see the blossoming of the Church at the sermon on the mount, all seated peacefully, gathering multitudes. The easy way. But, as often as Blessed JPII talked about the springtime of the Church, he would say with a beaming grin, "Be Not Afraid". It took me a long time to figure out those two things were tied together.

Even as I see it all playing out before us, I am amazed. Absolutely amazed.

Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich was really tapped into the mystical world.

Over the ten years of blogging, I've cited excerpts from her writings from time to time. They are worth spending some time reviewing.

Here's a few...

Among the sins of the world which Jesus took upon himself, I saw also my own; and a stream, in which I distinctly beheld each of my faults, appeared to flow towards me from out of the temptations with which he was encircled. During this time my eyes were fixed upon my Heavenly Spouse; with him I wept and prayed, and with him I turned towards the consoling angels. Ah, truly did our dear Lord writhe like a worm beneath the weight of his anguish and sufferings!

Whilst Satan was pouring forth his accusations against Jesus, it was with difficulty that I could restrain my indignation, but when he spoke of the sale of Magdalen’s property, I could no longer keep silence, and exclaimed: ‘How canst thou reproach him with the sale of this property as with a crime? Did I not myself see our Lord spend the sum which was given him by Lazarus in works of mercy, and deliver twenty-eight debtors imprisoned at Thirza?’

At first Jesus looked calm, as he kneeled down and prayed, but after a time his soul became terrified at the sight of the innumerable crimes of men, and of their ingratitude towards God, and his anguish was so great that he trembled and shuddered as he exclaimed: ‘Father, if is possible, let this chalice pass from me! Father, all things are possible to thee, remove this chalice from me!" But the next moment he added: ‘Nevertheless, not my will but thine be done.’ His will and that of his Father were one, but now that his love had ordained that he should be left to all the weakness of his human nature, he trembled at the prospect of death.
...

and later she sees this...

When God had created the first Adam, he cast a deep sleep upon him, opened his side, and took one of his ribs, of which he made Eve, his wife and the mother of all the living. Then he brought her to Adam, who exclaimed: ‘This now is bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. Wherefore a man shall leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and they shall be two in one flesh.’ That was the marriage of which it is written: ‘This is a great Sacrament. I speak in Christ and in the Church.’ Jesus Christ, the second Adam, was pleased also to let sleep come upon him—the sleep of death on the cross, and he was also pleased to let his side be opened, in order that the second Eve, his virgin Spouse, the Church, the mother of all the living, might be formed from it. It was his will to give her the blood of redemption, the water of purification, and his spirit—the three which render testimony on earth—and to bestow upon her also the holy Sacraments, in order that she might be pure, holy, and undefiled; he was to be her head, and we were to be her members, under submission to the head, the bone of his bones, and the flesh of his flesh. In taking human nature, that he might suffer death for us, he had also left his Eternal Father, to cleave to his Spouse, the Church, and he became one flesh with her, by feeding her with the Adorable Sacrament of the Altar, in which he unites himself unceasingly with us. He has been pleased to remain on earth with his Church, until we shall all be united together by him within her fold, and he has said: ‘The gates of hell shall never prevail against her.’ To satisfy his unspeakable love for sinners, our Lord had become man and a brother of these same sinners, that so he might take upon himself the punishment due to all their crimes. He had contemplated with deep sorrow the greatness of this debt and the unspeakable sufferings by which it was to be acquitted. Yet he had most joyfully given himself up to the will of his Heavenly Father as a victim of expiation. Now, however, he beheld all the future sufferings, combats, and wounds of his heavenly Spouse; in one word, he beheld the ingratitude of men.

The soul of Jesus beheld all the future sufferings of his Apostles, disciples, and friends; after which he saw the primitive Church, numbering but few souls in her fold at first, and then in proportion as her numbers increased, disturbed by heresies and schisms breaking out among her children, who repeated the sin of Adam by pride and disobedience. He saw the tepidity, malice, and corruption of an infinite number of Christians, the lies and deceptions of proud teachers, all the sacrileges of wicked priests, the fatal consequences of each sin, and the abomination of desolation in the kingdom of God, in the sanctuary of those ungrateful human beings whom he was about to redeem with his blood at the cost of unspeakable sufferings.

...

and this:

As there was nothing but darkness in the dwellings of these men, many among them, instead of directing their steps towards the Candle placed on the Candlestick in the House of the Spouse of Christ, wandered with closed eyes around the gardens of the Church, sustaining life only by inhaling the sweet odours which were diffused from them far and near, stretching forth their hands towards shadowy idols, and following wandering stars which led them to wells where there was no water. Even when on the very brink of the precipice, they refused to listen to the voice of the Spouse calling them, and, though dying with hunger, derided, insulted, and mocked at those servants and messengers who were sent to invite them to the Nuptial Feast. They obstinately refused to enter the garden, because they feared the thorns of the hedge, although they had neither wheat with which to satisfy their hunger nor wine to quench their thirst, but were simply intoxicated with pride and self-esteem, and being blinded by their own false lights, persisted in asserting that the Church of the Word made flesh was invisible. Jesus beheld them all, he wept over them, and was pleased to suffer for all those who do not see him and who will not carry their crosses after him in his City built upon a hill—his Church founded upon a rock, to which he has given himself in the Holy Eucharist, and against which the gates of Hell will never prevail.

Bearing a prominent place in these mournful visions which were beheld by the soul of Jesus, I saw Satan, who dragged away and strangled a multitude of men redeemed by the blood of Christ and sanctified by the unction of his Sacrament. Our Divine Saviour beheld with bitterest anguish the ingratitude and corruption of the Christians of the first and of all succeeding ages, even to the end of the world, and during the whole of this time the voice of the tempter was incessantly repeating: ‘Canst thou resolve to suffer for such ungrateful reprobates?’ while the various apparitions succeeded each other with intense rapidity, and so violently weighed down and crushed the soul of Jesus, that his sacred humanity was overwhelmed with unspeakable anguish.
...

and this...

Be not....afraid?

That's a tall order.

I think You've made your point now. You've gone a bit to far to get the message home. Before it gets too frightening, we ought to call a halt. Could we start again please?
