Pope Francis Bows to Refrigerator

We knew it would happen.

  1. Pope Francis might bow to the refrigerator, but he wants the Church to be "a home for all and not a small chapel focused on doctrine, orthodoxy and a limited agenda of moral teachings." Here! Here!

He is right in saying that the Church has grown “obsessed with preaching about abortion, gay marriage and contraception."

“It is not necessary to talk about these issues all the time,” “This church with which we should be thinking is the home of all, not a small chapel that can hold only a small group of selected people,” he said. “We must not reduce the bosom of the universal church to a nest protecting our mediocrity.”

    Thank God for Pope Francis!

  2. Does anyone think the Bishop of Rome might just be the destroyer St Francis of Assisi spoke about. The Huffpost article is off the charts!!!!!

  3. No, Theresa, I believe that Pope Francis is a man of God who might just save the Church and bring more people to God.

  4. The man just announced that we stop teaching our children about abortion and promiscuity as the culture draws them to it, and to instead teach that Christ will save them.

  6. Sorry Carol.....are you being sarcastic???? This is just the ticket for all those on the fencers here in the Boston Archdiocese...like the Fr Unis` of the Church. We`re in deep doodoo!

  7. Me? Sarcastic?!!

I have to read the translation, but if reports are accurate, I would say he is a lunatic.

  8. Regretfully. The word regretfully should be in that sentence!

  9. If he said what he is reported to say, it is indefensible and leaves one with no alternative but to teach our children he is anathema.

  10. It kind of ends the reading Francis through Benedict approach.

  11. When was the last time any one of our children heard Church teaching? That is the reason why two generations have been led astray.

Too much emphasis. Give us a break.

  12. I trust everyone realizes that "article" is a spoof. The one I really liked was Fr. Z installs electric communion rails:

  13. I've read Bishop of Rome Francis' tergiversations from the execrable America magazine. It's a long winded piece of sophistry that calls for a "flair for new paths" Church that is a therapeutic agent for secularism. It is jesuitical in the worst historical sense of that word.

  15. Todays Boston Globe...Pope calls on church to change its focus. Decries emphasis on abortion, birth control, gay unions. Church unduly obsessed with these issues, emphasis should be compassion, mercy instead of small minded rules. Church needs new balance or we`ll fall like a house of cards. The Bishop of Rome is on a roll and the liberal insanity is going to run with this one big time!

  16. I bet these liberals Catholics are just giddy that we can put those pesky issues of abortion and gay marriage behind us. Mark Shea is just thrilled. and finally the NY times and Boston Globe will like us!

I mean, I haven't heard a homily about abortion or gay marriage is about 10 years or so. let's stop obsessing about it !!

  18. Is His Holiness an antimonian?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Correction and context: If His Holiness rejects a church of "small-minded rules," is he an antinomian?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Now we have the Bishop of Rome issuing a strong statement against abortion...Rorate caeli has the translated version. There`s alot of disorientation going on diabolical and otherwise. Antinomian..that`s a good question, hopefully Carol or some other learned reader of this blog can answer it.

  21. If Pope Francis says the church has no right to “interfere spiritually” in the lives of gays and lesbians, does this mean a green light for "gay" ministry and “Dignity” Masses?

  22. Anon,

That's a tall order, none of us are really going "to get over ourselves" until Judgment Day. Till then I'll continue to follow my own muse. Sorry if my dissension is an affront to your self esteem.

  23. Anon,

Where did Pope Francis mention interference in the spiritual lives of homosexuals? His statement: "it is not possible to interfere in the spiritual life of a person". The Church cannot force the conscience of anyone to believe in the Truths of the Roman Catholic Faith. This is traditional teaching. In his earlier remarks he re-affirmed the Church's teaching on homosexuality. Now I understand that LGBT activists see an opening due to the media fog that is being generated around the Pope's muddled statements. Let's put away the talking points and at least make an effort to accurately quote his statement.

  24. Did you read any of the other headlines. I think you have been "punked" (fooled) by a satirical website, which is similar to The Onion.

    The story is not genuine.

  25. Dear friends, I got a kick out of the fact that people thought I didn't know the picture was a spoof and took it seriously.

    LOL.
