I've read Bishop of Rome Francis' tergiversations from the execrable America magazine. It's a long winded piece of sophistry that calls for a "flair for new paths" Church that is a therapeutic agent for secularism. It is jesuitical in the worst historical sense of that word.
Todays Boston Globe...Pope calls on church to change its focus. Decries emphasis on abortion, birth control,gay unions. Church unduly obsessed with these issues, emphasis should be compassion,mercy instead of small minded rules. Church needs new balance or we`ll fall like a house of cards. The Bishop of Rome is on a roll and the liberal insanity is going to run with this one big time!
I bet these liberals Catholics are just giddy that we can put those pesky issues of abortion and gay marriage behind us. Mark Shea is just thrilled. and finally the NY times and Boston Globe will like us!
I mean, I haven't heard a homily about abortion or gay marriage is about 10 years or so. let's stop obsessing about it !!

Where did Pope Francis mention interference in the spiritual lives of homosexuals? His statement: "it is not possible to interfere in the spiritual life of a person". The Church cannot force the conscience of anyone to believe in the Truths of the Roman Catholic Faith. This is traditional teaching. In his earlier remarks he re-affirmed the Church's teaching on homosexuality. Now I understand that LGBT activists see an opening due to the media fog that is being generated around the Pope's muddled statements. Let's put away the talking points and at least make an effort to accurately quote his statement.
