Pierre Thomas of ABC and His Rat Story About an "Unarmed" Bomber "Shot" in "Violent Encounter"

I read Pierre Thomas' story today and couldn't help but wonder what kind of a scoundrel would make up a ridiculous pack of lies to slander a victim of a murdering terrorist.

If I didn't know any better and was reading Pierre Thoma's story, I would think Todashev was just sitting in a room, unarmed and as innocent as a lamb when all of a sudden, Todashev had a change in demeanor and the police shot out of their chairs to attack him and shoot him dead.

Ibragim Todashev, an Orlando, Fla., associate of one of the Boston bombing suspects, was not armed when he was involved an alleged violent confrontation with an FBI agent that resulted in Todashev being shot to death in his apartment, law enforcement sources told ABC News.....

Officials initially told ABC News and other news outlets that a knife was involved in the confrontation....

However, by the day after the shooting, officials noted there was confusion about whether a weapon was involved...

The investigation so far is showing there was an abrupt change in Todashev's demeanor and a physical confrontation ensued, sources said...
The next thing you know he was dead.

Thomas, the dirty rat, goes on to explain that while Todashev -who is trained in martial arts - was 'unarmed, it just so happens a samurai sword was in the room and the FBI agent was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

What yellow journalism.

It's like something you'd read in the bowels of a country with Taliban-controlled press.

Archdiocese of New York - Boneheaded and Stupid Situation

Cardinal Dolan Paying to Kill Children "Under Protest".

I'm sure you've all read it by now.

The Archdiocese of New York has previously acknowledged that some local Catholic institutions offer health insurance plans that include contraceptive drugs to comply with state law; now, it is also acknowledging that the archdiocese’s own money is used to pay for a union health plan that covers contraception and even abortion for workers at its affiliated nursing homes and clinics.
“We provide the services under protest,” said Joseph Zwilling, a spokesman for the Archdiocese of New York.
One does not protest something, Sir, and then go ahead and do it.

When one protests something, one does not do it.   The commotion involved in the forbearance of doing something unethical, objectionable and downright despicable, combined with the press releases explaining the reasons why we are not doing it -that's what makes it a "protest".

The people protesting the death penalty do not then proceed to supply the executioner with the lethal injection.

Get it?

We are talking about a government mandate to kill people.  We don't do it under any circumstances.  They can arrest us and they can, have and will in the future even kill us - but we still do not follow mandates to kill other people.  Especially children and sick people.

Moreover - and more importantly - we do not provide tools that bait uncatechized women into doing something that robs her of her salvation.  We do not provide the circumstances that bait doctors and nurses and pharmacists into choosing to put food on the table  or doing something that robs them of their salvation.   Not on our dime.

The archdiocese needs to shut down the business if that is the only option left on the table. We are in the salvation of souls business and anything and everything we do has to be consistent with our morals, ethics and laws.

Come what may.

That's what the 2000 years of martyrdom is all about.

Mr. Zwilling's excuse - God Bless him - is so lame, the pagans at the New York Times were able to find the simple solution:

In theory, ArchCare could have negotiated independently with the union to avoid providing its 1199 employees — health support staff members ranging from physician assistants to orderlies — abortion and contraception coverage. The archdiocese avoids providing those services for 1,100 other ArchCare employees, for example, by insuring them through a special self-insurance plan that is exempt from the mandate.

Sadly, the news on ArchCare is about to get worse in the coming days. Stay tuned.

In the meantime,  be sure to check out Judie Brown's story - Cardinal Dolan's Mess

The cowardice is hard to watch.

Archdiocese of Boston Honors Marshall Sloane

On the front page of Cardinal O'Malley's newspaper is a story detailing the honor they bestowed upon Marshall Sloane at this year's Catholic Charities event.  Sloane was the recipient of this year's "justice and compassion" award.

Cardinal Seán P. O'Malley joined Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Boston, May 15, at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum for their annual Spring Celebration. The benefit raised more than $1.3 million to fund the agency's programs and services that support 200,000 people in need throughout Eastern Massachusetts.

Catholic Charities honored Barbara and Marshall Sloane of Century Bank with the "Justice and Compassion Award"

As many readers here know, Catholic Charities is headed by the Cardinals closest confident, Fr. Bryan Hehir, to whom he has given more power than the Holy See.

So, what were Cardinal O'Malley and Fr. Hehir honoring?

It's the same old/same old.

If you give a Cardinal enough money, he will do much more than look the other way when you defile children - he will applaud, honor and cheer you on.

Margery Eagan has the story - Mr. Sloane is a leader in the crusade to change the meaning of sexual morality.

You talk to Marshall Sloane for five minutes. It hits you: If this man is what 80 years of living the Boy Scout Oath produces, every boy in the world should join — immediately.

“I love Scouting,” Sloane, a veteran of Troop 18, Somerville, told me Friday night.

Sloane, the founder of Century Bank, is one of Boston’s most tireless philanthropists. Catholic Charities just honored the Sloanes... Still, Sloane’s age — 87 — and his profession — banker — do not exactly fit the profile of a guy you’d expect to fly to Texas to vote to end to the Scouts’ ban on gay troop members, a controversy that’s roiled the organization for years. But he did.... Despite at least 3,600 calls to his answering machine, every one urging him to keep the ban, Marshall Sloane voted with the 61 percent majority that ended it Thursday. Excluding Scouts based on sexual orientation, he said, was simply wrong. “I was so proud. For three days straight maybe 50 people got up to give their point of view. This was very emotional. Plenty of old-timers threatened to quit,” said Sloane, believing himself to be the second oldest old-timer in the hall. “But there was no yelling, no screaming, no nastiness. For it or against it, when you finished speaking, you got a hand.

Get it?

Children having sex before the age of legal consent.  Whether yer fer it or agin it, it's just time to clap.

But the optimistic Sloane, who opposes bans on gay adult Scouts, too, believes that ban will be history as well, and soon. He said people were wrangling last week over the meaning of “morally straight,” the last phrase in the Boy Scout Oath.

Sloane is leading conversations that persuade them to reject the moral truths necessary for their soul's salvation.  The Archbishop , irrespective of the victims of Mr. Sloan's spiritually-disordered ideas, assembled the hap, hap, clappiest group of folks in the Archdiocese to give him a trophy and a front page story in his newspaper.

A new spin for the Wedding Feast at Cana.

The Cardinal, who is the spiritual parent of one half million Catholics in Boston, reminds me of another parent who threw a party for this children on the other side of town.

In a very wealthy suburb of Boston, father William Hacking threw a lovely birthday celebration for a friend of his daughter's.  All the children got drunk and when the police came, they threw empty bottles at them.

All were arrested.  Mr. Hacking, who was also trashed, was charged with violating social hosting laws.

Catholic Cardinals and Bishops incessantly violate social hosting laws of the Church.  You have to wonder why they continue to let the people operating the Chancery in Boston defile and consume our children.

Why do they pretend they cannot see or smell the overwhelming stench of the doctrines of moral and sexual perversion coming from Fr. Bryan Hehir?

In the News

A local friend and evangelist alerted me to a story in this story in Boston Globe about the reinstatement of a falsely-accused priest.

As longtime readers here know, the 'archdiocese' (- a phony word without any meaning that was cooked up to distance the archbishop from the execution of his own policies -) has done a terrible job managing accusations of priests.

Canon law is written to protect priests from false accusations, requiring the parties to determine an accusation as 'credible' before removing a priest.

Yet, even when accusations are incredible and in fact impossible, priests are burdened with false accusations for over ten years before being 'returned' to active status.

I put 'returned' in quotes because falsely-accused innocent priests are never actually returned to active ministry.   The chicanery and dishonesty involved in sidelining exonerated and innocent priests, sickens any just person.

When I first read the story about Fr. Byrne, I was encouraged to read about his reinstatement, but I am not quite sure what to make of it.

The article first says Fr. Byrne has been 'reinstated' and assigned, but then goes on to clarify the 69-year-old priest is assigned to... retirement.

“In reaching this decision, Cardinal Sean O’Malley reaffirmed his care and concern for all persons impacted by the reality of sexual abuse of children,” the archdiocese said in a statement. “The Cardinal and the Archdiocese remain committed to resolving cases of this nature in a manner that is as just as possible for all involved.”

As priests are not allowed to 'retire' until age 75, it's the same old dishonesty, but just the same, I thought, it is an improvement to have the 'reinstatement' published and to clarify that it is the Cardinal's intention to both protect children and protect priests against the injustice of a false accusation.  I believe this to be true and publishing Fr. Byrne's exoneration is commendable.

But then, they drop the shoe.

In June 2005, Byrne received five years of probation after pleading guilty to embezzling more than $135,000 from Waltham’s Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted to his personal bank accounts, the Globe previously reported. He had started embezzling the money at least as early as February 1997.

While this priest, who no doubt suffered under the weight of a false accusation, is now cleared of sexual abuse, the embezzlement, one would think, does not qualify him for 'reinstatement'.

Yet - I know plenty of falsely-accused priests who do qualify for reinstatement.

They do not reinstate whom they should and reinstate whom they should not.

Why, why, why... are they so stupid?

It is exasperating.

Could they not have crafted a message announcing Fr. Byrne has been exonerated, cleared and Sacramental restrictions lifted, but due to the nature of his mismanagement of money is currently assigned to sacramental duty to sick in hospitals and nursing homes?

Catholics tend to be suckers.  We are always pursuing and believing in redemption.  This was part of the reason why pedophiles were sent away to the doctor for therapy and then reinstated.

We want to believe that all you have to do is explain to abusive persons the reasons why what they are doing is wrong and tell them to stop, sent them on a retreat to exorcise their demons - and then reinstate them because all is well.

Why lie to Fr. Byrne?

Why have the reinstated but retired spin leave readers with the impression that they are still incapable of recognizing that one who pleads guilty to embezzlement should not be 'reinstated'?

If it is the public relations/communications team, the record shows they have done a terrible disservice to the Archbishop.

Whether it is stupidity of the people in charge of communicating the message or something more sinister becomes irrelevant after ten years of it.

At the end of the day, even if it is the people surrounding the Archbishop who are the problem, if he does not remove them, it is construed as a passive/aggressive way of imposing disorder with the cowardice of distancing yourself from outcome and responsibility to your victims.

It destroys trust that is irreparable unless and until those responsible are removed.

Boyscouts Add a Sex Badge

“If you're honest,
you sooner or later have to confront your values.
 Then you're forced to separate
what is right from what is merely legal."
 ~ Tom Robbins

Most Americans don't even know that America is not a Democracy but a Republic, much less understand the differences between them.

Both can go south, but a Republic is designed to protect its citizens from the moral decay of a majority.

Like a Democracy, anything can become legal in a Republic.  Slavery, the murder of certain groups of people and even incest can be legalized.

The elected officials in a Republic are supposed to separate right from wrong and ensure that laws protect both the citizens and the country from the harm and consequences of immoral and unjust ideas.

The tipping point in a Republic comes when a generation is left without leadership with the intellectual and/or spiritual capacity to carry out their duties.

We have passed that tipping point and we are now all scrambling to know what to do, what to say and how to proceed.

I am still very much intrigued by Pope Francis.  In each of our own lives, it so important to demonstrate how love intersects with truth about right and wrong, sin and virtue and the tools for our salvation.

He made a statement a few days back about atheists (more on that later) which has been grossly misunderstood, about meeting people where they are to do good works, going forward from there.

In good faith, I think the Boyscouts were trying to apply this ideal - but the execution has gone awry.

In a society sexually demoralizing its citizens, even its children, the Boyscouts were at a crossroad familiar to all of us.

The challenge in a society that legalizes what is harmful and lethal are complex, especially for Catholics whose love goes too deep to ratify what we know is destructive.

Sexually charged immoral adults have always sexualized children and those children sexualize other children.    This is nothing new.

It is a predatory use of human sexuality and there are laws which prevent sexualized adults, and in fact children, from acting upon those attractions.  The laws are written to protect children who are incapable of consenting to sexual exploitation.   The age of sexual consent is 16 in most states, 18 in others.

The inappropriate nature of a child revealing sexual attractions - and demanding affirmation - in an apostolate that has nothing to do with sex,  is actually quite disturbing.  It is too much information to put on a pair of khaki shorts, tie a kerchief around your neck to go pick up sticks along the highway or visit a nursing home.

Imagine, if you will, organizing a youth group to serve the poor in the inner city.  During sign ups, a young man steps forward to tell you he is sexually attracted to girls and will not join unless the group adopts a policy that ratifies his sexual attractions.

Since an apostolate that serves the poor would have absolutely nothing to do with this young man's sexual attractions, such a revelation would be so disturbingly inappropriate, the young man's motives and state of mental and spiritual health would be considered dangerous to female children in the group and the people to whom you plan to serve.

Any rational person would conclude that this young man plans to make use of his sexual attraction to girls in your apostolate to serve the poor.

Aside from incorporating the sexual exploitation of children into policy, the Boyscouts decision to include homosexual children but exclude homosexual adults is rather perplexing.

Homosexuals are not pedophiles.  Pedophiles are a breed of their own.

I could misunderstand, but what the Boyscout policy seems to be saying is, while they are willing to encourage sexualized children to make a statement about their sexual attraction to other children prior to the age of consent, at the worst possible time in their formation, when their hormones are raging, they are protecting children from being sexually exploited.

They are only kidding themselves.

Time to say adios to the Boyscouts.

Protesting Boston College Commencement Speaker Enda Kenny

The Catholic Action League, Operation Rescue and Students for Life are protesting tomorrow at Boston College's choice of Enda Kenny as commencement speaker.

If you are able, please make the effort to attend the event.

CATHOLIC ACTION LEAGUE WILL JOIN OPERATION RESCUE AND STUDENTS FOR LIFE IN PROTEST AT BOSTON COLLEGE COMMENCEMENT

Tomorrow, Monday, May 20th, the Catholic Action League of Massachusetts will join with Operation Rescue Boston and Students for Life in protesting the decision of Jesuit administered Boston College to award an honorary Doctor of Laws degree to Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny, who will also be the principal speaker at the university's 2013 Commencement Exercises.

The demonstration will be held on Beacon Street, near the border of Boston and Newton, at the entrance to Alumni Field, from 8:00 to 10:00.

The award to Kenny clearly contravenes the 2004 statement by the United States Conference of Catholic
Bishops, Catholics in Political Life, which states: "The Catholic community and Catholic institutions should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles. They should not be given awards, honors or platforms which would suggest support for their actions."

On April 30th, Kenny's coalition government introduced legislation to legalise abortion in Ireland.

Catholic Action League Executive Director C. J. Doyle stated:"At a time when the Church and the entire pro-life movement in Ireland are resisting Kenny's proposed changes in Irish law, a Catholic institution is honoring Mr. Kenny. It is a deplorable scandal and an unconscionable betrayal."

Catholic Action League Executive Director C. J. Doyle is an alumnus of Boston College.

Cardinal Dolan Talks Turkey to Governor Cuomo

As Governor Cuomo's policies are slaughtering children, Cardinal Dolan said he meets with him and talks turkey about it.

Do you think he would use the term 'talk turkey', if he was discussing meeting with a pedophile?

What it is about the murder of children that Cardinal Dolan feels his role in the matter is turkey talk?

Following the release of the turkey talk story, the Cardinal wanted to go on the record saying politicians whose policies exploit women and kill children, are in good standing with the Catholic Church.

His spokesperson said, it is just a difference of opinion between the two turkeys.

Obama Bin Biden

The difference between

After all the years of lying for Obama and his administration, covering up their crimes, pitching their lawlessness and reckless disregard for the Constitutional and civil rights of Americans - including the right not to be murdered - all it took for the mainstream media to turn on him was peering into the underpants of the 'free press'.

LOL.

They are shining the light into every closet Obama owns and all the cockroaches are scrambling for shelter.

They are really going for his jugular now.

Unlawful seizure of phone and internet records.

Unlawful seizure of medical records (what is THAT all about?)

Boston Globe's Kevin Cullen Flawed Reasoning on Enda Kenny

“Hate comes from evil men who cannot stand the reproach of goodness because it makes demands upon them that they are unwilling to accept. The more intense the evil, the greater the fear of goodness. That is why Supreme Goodness is nailed to a cross.” Archbishop Fulton Sheen

I don't normally read the commentary of journalists from the Boston Globe, especially when it comes to theology, but I thought readers would find this piece from Kevin Cullen interesting. For instance, take Cullen's use of the word 'local zealots' in this sentence:
The only thing I have in common with Ireland’s Prime Minister Enda Kenny, besides a sheer, unadulterated love of everything about County Mayo, is that we’ve both incurred the wrath of a group of local zealots called the Catholic Action League.
Local zealots - you know - as opposed to that certain group of journalists on Morrissey Boulevard who would never attempt to foist their personal convictions upon others.

Kevin Cullen is an extraordinary witness to the Boston Globe's unbiased coverage of events and their warm, welcoming, loving charity towards all peoples:
These people would be deeply offensive if they weren’t so deliciously comical. They are self-righteous, self-appointed keepers of the faith, who especially like pointing out that a la carte Catholics — that is, most Catholics, who use contraception, don’t think gay folks are disordered, and believe that people should be allowed to get a divorce — do not belong in their church.
I couldn't tell you the last time I read something from the Globe.

I did not find Cullen's open bigotry against Catholics surprising, but when did they completely do away with the journalistic standard of due diligence and rational thought?

"Self-appointed keepers of the faith"

He is writing about Catholicism but appears to be ignorant that 2000 years of Church teaching is memorialized in the  Catechism of the Catholic Church.  There is nothing self-appointing about it.   It takes great humility and love of God to accept and practice those teachings.

I am baffled by people who cannot grasp or understanding real, loving relationships with God.   It seems they do not know God's Animus is as alive and present in the heart and soul as their spouse, mother, children, sisters, brothers, friends?

How can this be?

It is mind-boggling.

I will often choose a person I know they deeply love and ask them, for instance, what keeps them from cheating on their spouse when somebody attractive 'comes on' to them.

Are there any emotions in their relationship with their spouse, any modicum of respect for the mutual love, the gift of that relationship?  Does the prospect of pouring sexual energy into another person and the distance it puts between them and their spouse, the damage it will do to their marital relationship, family, children - do those losses factor into they way they live their life in relationships?

What stops them from stealing from their friends?   Is it only because there are conscious of civil law? They don't want to get caught and go to jail?

When you pose these questions, they are perfectly capable of understanding that they resist temptations because it is necessary to keep love alive and healthy in those human relationships.  The kind of deep, intimate love - one is not even tempted.

Yet, when you try to explain how that same kind of love lives and breathes in a loving relationship with God - and we make choices for the same reasons.

"a la carte Catholics..  do not belong in their church"

This is the stupidest caricature of Catholics who reject Church teaching, and consequently their own salvation, I have ever read. All Catholics sit in the pews and struggle with Church teaching.

Some struggle with accepting the teaching. Others accept the teaching but struggle with practice.

That's what we are all doing there.

What Catholics will not accept is when a struggling Catholic uses their presence to encourage others to reject Church teaching, tempt and draw them into celebrating and taking pride in immorality and sin.   The Unitarians down the street love that kind of stuff and you are most welcome there. You're not welcome to do it where our families sit to learn how to make choices that affect their salvation. If it's trouble you're looking for you're going to get it.

Cullen's repeats the hysterical urban legend that Catholic teaching killed a pregnant woman.

Mass murder needs a good excuse.

Kevie - might be time to check out how many abortionists have killed pregnant women.  Not to mention the millions of children.

Cullen's outrageous cacophony doesn't stop there.  He goes on to accuse Catholics of being sexual predators, people who torture children.

Quite the Masshole.

Is this their sharpest tool in the shed or do they just use him for venom that has castrated his intellect and capacity to love?

Irish Journalist Sources Allege Cardinal O'Malley Promised Enda Kenny Diplomatic Absence

According to Niall O'Dowd's sources, Cardinal O’Malley had indicated agreement with a plan that would see him absent on the day at Boston College but with a plausible reason not directly related to Kenny for not attending

The staff would execute the plans whilst the Cardinal packs his suitcase and gets out of town.

A familiar aroma.

I got a kick out of this:
Both Boston College and the Irish government were of the opinion the matter had been handled sensitively on all sides and would quell the developing controversy when anti abortion groups began targeting Kenny.
With nine years of egg on their face, they were of the opinion they could quell Boston Catholic prolifers.

If true, and it certainly is the MO of the ICM (Irish Catholic Mafioso) that surrounds the Cardinal and runs it while he makes like Houdini, I would love to know the name of the person who gave them these assurances, wouldn't you?
This could have been dealt with, as originally intended, as a diplomatic matter, allowing everyone their space” said an Irish government senior source. "Instead it is now a circus.”
If they ever knew the salaries of the clowns, they'd choke on their circus peanuts.

Again - if true - this is certainly a bigger victory than we thought.

Stay tuned for the protest (and followup with the Holy See) in the next few days!

A Question for Fr. William Leahy, Jack Dunne and Boston College

Who do you think you are, giving Catholic children the idea one can mass murder and be a 'well-respected leader' promoting 'Catholic social justice' ideals?

The magnitude of apathy for the victims of Kenny's crimes against humanity cannot and should not be sustained in the public square.

What kind of witness would the Catholic Church be giving if they permitted Fr. Fahey to continue to hold his position at Boston College?

Fr. Leahy needs to be removed. His sacramental faculties should be removed.  He serves this archdiocese through the sponsorship of the Catholic Cardinal in charge of the Boston see.

Jack Dunne had the audacity to insult the intelligence of Catholics with this statement:

The BC spokesman also said that the school’s views on abortion rights remain firm. “As a Catholic institution, Boston College supports the Church’s commitment to the life of the unborn,’’ he said.
Is that right?

Would they confer an honor upon a pedophile promoting pedophilia and then stand in the public square and tell us they are committed to safety of children?

Please. Do not urinate on us and tell us it is raiing.

What they are doing will cost people their lives, and worse - their salvation.

Action needs to be taken against Fahey and the school.

n.b. Nice story in the Boston Globe today.

The controversy over Prime Minister Enda Kenny of Ireland, who supports narrow abortion rights legislation in his country, speaking at Boston College’s commencement took a dramatic turn Friday when the head of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston declared that he will not attend the ceremony.

The announcement from Cardinal Sean P. O’Malley upped the ante in a debate that earlier in the week had pitted BC against the Catholic Action League of Massachusetts, a group that opposes abortion rights and had strongly criticized the university for inviting Kenny.... Doyle, a BC alumnus, added that the controversy is “not the first scandal and betrayal [of church teachings] to afflict BC and probably won’t be the last.” He said that he hopes O’Malley will “perhaps contribute to the reform of that institution.”
Amen to that.

As if the situation could not possibly get any more ridiculous, graduating senior Stephanie Rice said "politics" has no place in the celebration of four years of her hard work as "President of College Democrats at Boston College".

Captain Renault, eat your heart out.

Cardinal O'Malley Boycotting Boston College Over Enda Kenny's Crimes Against Humanity

Great news here in Boston today when the Cardinal announced that he was boycotting the Boston College Commencement, where Enda Kenny is still scheduled to have an honorary degree conferred upon him. Cardinal O'Malley called abortion a crime against humanity. Outstanding. His statement also implied that Boston College has been asked to disinvite Kenny and has refused.
“Since the university has not withdrawn the invitation and because the Taoiseach [prime minister] has not seen fit to decline, I shall not attend the graduation,’’ O’Malley said in a statement. “It is my ardent hope that Boston College will work to redress the confusion, disappointment and harm caused by not adhering to the Bishops’ directives.’’
That Fr. Leahy would defiantly refuse to obey Church teaching and the directive of his religious superior certainly makes him dangerous.  I'm imagining there is going to be accountability and consequences.

I would also say that in light of Fr. Leahy's defiance, it appears that the burden to do the right thing shifted to Enda - who also did not find the humility and see fit to withdraw his scandalous presence.

May the cat eat them and the divil eat the cat.

The protest is on.  More details later.

Kudos and blessings to all whose hand was on this plough - especially our friend CJ Doyle.

Ireland's Adolf Hitler, Enda Kenny, being honored at Boston College

No doubt you've already heard the news that the Ireland's Adolf Hitler is being honored at Boston College.

As you can imagine, Boston (and national) prolifers have been quite busy behind the scenes.

I'll bet you're wondering how a Cardinal Archbishop of Boston would respond to the honoring of a man whose current project is lethally exterminating the infants of financially and spiritually impoverished women?

Here's a multiple choice quiz on Cardinal O'Malley's response:

1. He released a statement saying Kenny is doing irreparable harm and disservice to Christ's Church.
2. He immediately used his authority to demand Boston College rescind the invitation.
3. He said he would be unable to attend due to something he already had on his schedule.

Hint: A certain Boston Catholic blogger behaved badly.

On Mon, May 6, 2013 at 7:25 PM, Carol Mckinley wrote:

Hi Terry (Donilon, Cardinal O'Malley's 'spokesperson'),

Did the below statement come from you?

http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/pm-foisting-abortion-on-ireland-to-be-honored-by-catholic-boston-college

Responding to a request for comment, the Archdiocese of Boston noted that Cardinal Sean O'Malley was not scheduled to attend the Commencement due to another commitment.

Are we to understand this as the Cardinal's response?

He isn't going to be there due to the fact he has another event already on his calendar?

Enda Kenny is a ferocious enemy of Christ's Church who is, as we speak, actively entrapping Catholic souls into murder and spiritual mayhem.

You will not be surprised to hear me say that this sissified response is just not acceptable.   The Cardinal needs to put on the big boy pants and get this man off of the schedule.

Peace,Carol

I sent followup emails asking Terry, the Vicar General (among others) to have the courtesy to respond, explaining time is of the essence and prolife Catholics intend to appeal to the Holy See for intervention, explaining that there's isn't a dime's worth of difference between 'honoring' Kenny and the Taliban.

They responded with the usual and customary/decades-old pastoral policy.  You know the one?

Same one they used on mothers reporting their children were being raped:  When they do not call or respond to your communications pleading with them to stop the abuse - you know it's them.

CJ Doyle of the Catholic Action League has called for a protest (more on that later), released the following:

The Catholic Action League of Massachusetts today condemned Jesuit administered Boston College for selecting Republic of Ireland Taoiseach Enda Kenny as its 2013 Commencement Speaker. The university will also confer an honorary Doctor of Laws degree on Kenny during commencement exercises on May 20th.

On April 30th, Kenny's coalition government introduced legislation with the Orwellian title "The Protection of Life during Pregnancy Bill 2013," which would legalise abortion in Ireland under the guise of preventing the suicide of pregnant women. As there is no gestational age limit to the measure, it would mean abortion on demand, under threat of suicide, through all nine months of pregnancy.

Catholic hospitals would be forced to comply with the proposed law. Moreover, the bill contains no conscience clause protections for physicians, nurses, and other health care workers.

The Catholic Church has denounced the measure and called upon the Irish people to lobby their elected representatives to oppose it. Cardinal Sean Brady, the Primate of Ireland, said the bill, if approved would "make the direct and intentional killing of unborn children lawful in Ireland." Brady went on to say that: "It is a tragic moment for Irish society when we regard the the deliberate destruction of a completely innocent person as an acceptable response to the threat of the preventable death of another person."

Kenny has threatened to expel pro-life Catholic TDs (members of parliament) from his Fine Gael parliamentary party if they refuse to vote for measure, which is expected to be acted upon in July.

Last year, Kenny's government published legislation---The Criminal Justice (Withholding of Information on Offences Against Children and Vulnerable Persons) Bill---which would impose criminal penalties, including imprisonment up to five years, on priests who refuse to violate the seal of the confessional in cases of sexual abuse.

In a July, 2011 speech, Kenny misrepresented the words of Pope Benedict XVI to imply that the Pontiff approved the cover up of sexual abuse and castigated what he called the "dysfunction, disconnection, elitism" and "narcissism" of the Vatican. Following that attack, Kenny closed the Irish Embassy to the Holy See.

Boston College said Kenny represents the "progressive center" and is committed to "social justice."

The Catholic Action League called Kenny's selection "an astonishing, appalling, disgraceful and deplorable act of betrayal."

Catholic Action League Executive Director C. J. Doyle stated:"Even for a university whose Catholic identity is as compromised as that of BC, this decision is shameful and dishonorable. Boston College has gone beyond promoting dissent against Catholic teaching to giving aid and comfort to the enemies of the Church. Every faithful Catholic in this country ought to protest against this odious perfidy."

Catholic Action League Executive Director C. J. Doyle is an alumnus of Boston College.

Judie Brown of the American Life League has expressed the reasons why the invitation should be rescinded (much more graciously than I) along with many other local and national prolifers.

Boston College spokesperson Jack Dunn today told a reporter for the Irish Times that their ceremony honoring Enda Kenny has nothing to do with his lethal extermination of Irish children.

Get it?

Pay no attention to the dismembered bodies of the victims of Kenny's political empire.

Dunn said they dig Kenny because is an internationally respected leader, with a well-known reputation for (-brace yourself-) promoting human rights that resonate with Boston College.  It's all about the sons of Boston's Irish immigrants.

How's that for diabolical?

On the same day the Cardinal released his response, somebody posted a video on youtube that was a dramatic enactment.

In a village in the wiles of some jungle, a black family - grandparents, parents, children - were being beaten with pieces of trees by others in the village.  There was a very large crowd - hundreds - standing by watching it.  The beating was driving them into a nearby pit, where trees were lit on fire. The video zoomed in on the victims as they desperately tried to escape.  The villagers beat them back into the pit. Sometimes picking them up and throwing them into it.  The victims rocked back and forth and wailed as the fire consumed their clothes and then their flesh.  Hundreds stood around with their arms folded, watching.

Sickened by Boston College and Fr. Fahey, sickened the Cardinal, sickened by the Archdiocese, I forced myself to watch it.

This is exactly what they are doing.

What many are doing.

Too many are doing.

Praying for the victims in that village, the hundreds of thousands who die every day at the hands of their tyrants, those who watch with their arms folded, those who support and honor the liars and murderers.

Testifying: We see what they are doing and God sees what they are doing.

UPDATE

Boston.com has more.

Irish bishops have spoken out against the measure, calling it “a dramatic and morally unacceptable change to Irish law.”

"It is a tragic moment for Irish society when we regard the deliberate destruction of a completely innocent person as an acceptable response to the threat of the preventable death of another person,” they said in a state earlier this month...

From CJ:  Kenny has misrepresented the words of Pope Benedict XVI, insulted the Holy See and closed the Irish Embassy to the Vatican, “ the statement says. “At a time when the Church and the entire pro-life movement in Ireland is resisting this evil man, Boston College is honoring him!”

Jack Dunne said it's about heritage. Just a couple of harps celebrating their heritage with a jig. I guess it's a good thing for Boston Fr. Leahy and Jack Dunne are not Russians. It is entirely possible they'd honor a couple of bombers. Independent of bombings. Of course.

Vatican Prefect for Religious Was Skunked from LCWR Proceedings

Cry me a River.

At one point the cardinal even called for wide-ranging review of structures of church power.

“We are in a moment of needing to review and revision some things,” Braz de Aviz said. “Obedience and authority must be renewed, re-visioned.”

“Authority that commands, kills,” he continued. “Obedience that becomes a copy of what the other person says, infantilizes.”
In addition to Braz de Aviz' suggestion that obedience is killing their widdle infantile feewings, the article is loaded with juicy tidbits.

  • Cardinal Leveda was involved in the skunking.
  • Internal power struggles involve playing Rope a Dope with Pope.
  • He thinks he is playing the part of Saints Peter and Paul.
  • Out of the mouths of babes "The Holy Spirit wins".
  • Apostate nuns want meeting with Pope Francis to personally give him their talking points.
  • The nuns are misunderstood.  Very serious.
  • Pope Francis will give them a hug, but isn't going to change his mind.
  • Very big pain.  Very big.
  • New word for the Catholic dictionary, nuns are 'co-essential' for bishops.
  • Carballo is a bad news.
Also, here is fantastic news from the USCCB.

Fr. William Scanlan RIP

Late last week, Fr. Bill Scanlan, 66, from the Boston Archdiocese (residing in Marian Manor) returned home to Our Lord, leaving his family, many friends and people who loved him.   His funeral was today, Friday, May 3rd.

It has been a rough week.

You forget how painful grief is, how it sucks the oxygen out of your universe, making it hard to breathe.

There truly is a physical presence of a soul and when it leaves this earth, it feels like an amputation.  Even through the pain, you forget it isn't there and you keep reaching for it to seek its advice, solace, love and comfort.

For those in Fr. Bill's life, along with our loss of our friend, we were grieving the vocation he was, in face we all were, robbed of - what should have been.  Fr. Bill was falsely-accused by a disturbed young woman.  Her story was impossible.  Consequently, he was never charged by the police - and he was dragged into Canonical court more times than I can count - four? - and exonerated each time.

I actually don't know what was more painful - the idea that an individual would concoct a story to destroy another human being and priest, the betrayals and cowardice that followed,  the injustices and cacophony of 'bishop's accountability (whom I lost all respect for)  or the outrageous chicanery from the luminaries in the Chancery, some of whom I know deeply regret it.   It was a terrible rollercoaster ride and it took a terrible toll.

There are broken, desperate or bitter souls needing money or attention who have and will in the future concoct a story of abuse by a priest.  The system for reviewing allegations is a kangaroo court in which the innocent are prevented from exoneration.

At last, Fr. Bill is free.  He has dissolved into Christ and has found peace. Fr. Bill was a fiery, very generous, loving, thoughtful, funny, funny man and priest who touched many lives.  My family will miss his love, support and his laughter.

There were four bishops at his funeral and many priests.  One of the bishops who shared the final remembrance, told two stories.

He said he visited Marian Manor once a month to do Masses.  A few weeks back, a woman from a family he had served was dying.  All had been said and done and the family was gathered around not knowing what to do or say, very quietly just waiting by her side for the moment of death.  Fr. Bill heard of it, pulled off his oxygen and somehow got upstairs.  When he entered the room with his great energy, they were soon talking, praying and even laughing in those final moments.

The Bishop said his last interaction with Fr. Bill was after Mass a few weeks ago.  After severely critiquing his homily, he gathered the Bishop's two hands and held them into his own and said "I love you and I'm praying for you".

Below, is one of Fr. Bill's last reflections.  He actually wrote another which is set to be released this week, no doubt with afinal message for each of us whom he loved.  Probably a kick in the backside and a hug.   How we will all miss them both!

Subject: The Call that seems to come with the election of Pope Francis I

It is the feeling of many that the Church must revitalize its Spiritual core ... Back to basics especially deep daily prayer.
As I  on the happenings of the week, I thought of two of my favorite “prayers” + the prayers of many ... I hope you enjoy these insights.

THE SERENITY PRAYER

Reinhold Neibur

God, give us grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.
Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next.
Amen.

Note About The Serenity Prayer's Real Author
You'll find many references online to some not being sure who really wrote the above prayer, some claiming that Reinhold Niebuhr was not actually the author. Many have researched it, including trying to find out if it even goes back to 500 A.D. Despite all the research, though, it still goes back to Niebuhr being the author.
It certainly appears that Reinhold Niebuhr did indeed write The Serenity Prayer. Niebuhr himself discusses the prayer and how it came about it in his book, The Essential Reinhold Niebuhr: Selected Essays and Addresses. You can read the page yourself via amazon.com here if you wish: The Essential Reinhold Niebuhr: Selected Essays and Addresses, page 251. Niebuhr states,
”... The embarrassment, particularly, was occasioned by the incessant correspondence about a prayer I had composed years before, which the old Federal Council of Churches had used and which later was printed on small cards to give to soldiers. Subsequently Alcoholics Anonymous adopted it as its official prayer. The prayer reads: 'God, give us grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed, courage to change the things that should be changed, and the wisdom to distinguish the one from the other.' ...”
In addition, Niebuhr's daughter, Elisabeth Sifton, wrote an entire book about her father's prayer, The Serenity Prayer: Faith and Politics in Times of Peace and War, that explores the circumstances around which her father wrote this prayer, the wide range of versions of this prayer, and the real essence of the prayer's meaning. She quotes The Serenity Prayer on page 277. NPR (National Public Radio) interviewed Sifton about her book, which you can listen to via NPR's website: The Serenity Prayer: Faith in Times of Peace and War.

SAINT FRANCIS PRAYER FOR PEACE

The English version of the prayer reads as follows:

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen.

Perhaps the original publication of the prayer was submitted anonymously to the French publication La Clochette in 1912.

An alternate version is found in Chapter 11 (Page 99) of the "Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions", a book published by Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Inc.
Lord, make me a channel of thy peace;
that where there is hatred, I may bring love;
that where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness;
that where there is discord, I may bring harmony;
that where there is error, I may bring truth;
that where there is doubt, I may bring faith;
that where there is despair, I may bring hope;
that where there are shadows, I may bring light;
that where there is sadness, I may bring joy.
Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort than to be comforted;
to understand, than to be understood;
to love, than to be loved.
For it is by self-forgetting that one finds.
It is by forgiving that one is forgiven.
It is by dying that one awakens to eternal life.Amen.

The following variation on the prayer was delivered by Mother Theresa when she addressed the United Nations in 1985:
Make us worthy Lord to serve our fellow men throughout the world,
who live and die in poverty and hunger.
Give them through our hands, this day, their daily bread
and by our understanding love give peace and joy.
Lord, make me a channel of thy peace.
That where there is hatred I may bring love,
That where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness,
That where there is discord, I may bring harmony,
That where there is error I may bring truth,
That where there is doubt I may bring faith,
That where there is despair I may bring hope,
That where there are shadows I may bring light,
That where there is sadness I may bring joy.
Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort than to be comforted,
To understand than to be understood,
To love than to be loved.
For it is by forgetting self that one finds.
It is by forgiving that one is forgiven,
it is by dying that one awakens to eternal life.
