Rejoicing at Chancery. Church is changing. Money and pride are on their way back.

For the times they are a changing.

$1 million more than the previous year.

Cardinal Seán O’Malley says it’s a sign of a changing church.

Pope Francis, who appears on the cover of the latest Rolling Stone magazine, has reached a level of popularity not limited to Catholics.

“That trumps Time Magazine,” O’Malley, a friend of Pope Francis, said.

Religious people are 25-percent more likely to donate money and 23-percent more likely to volunteer,” according to O’Malley.

Kathleen Driscoll with the Boston Archdiocese says “there’s a pride in being Catholic again.”

hrough the appeal, 144 parishes are receiving rebates totaling $1.6 million, earned for exceeding appeal goals.

Pledges to the annual appeal have been increasing

n.b. to the cash collectors in the chancery: Don't buy a frame yet.. The Holy See doesn't see the merit to the hostile, weird and theologically screwball Rolling Stone article.

The Holy Father on Worship and Praise (It's for everyone!)

Very, very interesting remarks from Pope Francis on outwardly expressed praise and joy for Our Lord.

It isn't just for the Charistmatics.

I start and end my workday with Worship and Praise. Throughout the day in the lull. I praise our Lord in the quiet prayer during the Holy Sacrifice. At Adoration.

Let us face it. TTC readers are lovers of the intimacy in the substance of the Sacraments.

Rock music and liturgical dancing at the intimacy of souls going on at a Holy Sacrifice is about as useful to us as a ten piece orchestra in our bedrooms.

We come to dissolve into Christ and that act of intimate dissolution into the Soul of Christ can only be reached through mystical prayer.

This is a world that doesn't exist to majority of charismatics. I get wigged out when the noise is so loud at the Holy Sacrifice that I can't concentrate on the mystical prayer that takes me to the place where I dissolve into Christ.

Wrong time. Wrong place.

I have a better idea.

Why not blast the rock music while these same folks are sitting in a hot room on their yoga mats trying to connect with themselves and leave those of us trying to connect our souls to God alone?

I was particularly struck by this:

“I wonder sometimes how many times we despise good people in our hearts, good people who praise the Lord as it comes to them, so spontaneously, because they are not cultured, because they do not follow the formalities? [I mean really] despise [them]?

Oh come on!

I'm amazed by the ability of the Holy Father to exaggerate and understate, all at the same time!

Perhaps he's feeling a little sensitive over the criticism of his puppet Masses. LOL.

In some ways, I understand what Pope Francis is saying. I have come to see the charismatics as newlyweds in the throes of passion with our Lord. I love their praise and worship outside of the Liturgy, sharing our fire. I avoid the Liturgies (I deliberately go to the 7:30am Mass to avoid the hoohas) but if I am stuck with that timing, I prepare myself for missing the real passion and intimacy with Christ for Communion at a lower level of intensity with Christ. I used to feel robbed. But I know that The company of Christ's newlyweds pleases Him, and I can observe it with appreciation.

Easier said than done.

Let's make a deal.

Issue an edict for one Latin Mass every Sunday every 40 miles, burn the puppets, genuflect at Consecration, have the theologically correct Corpus of Christ on the Cross at Papal Masses and we'll try to be a little more patient!

Msgr. Pope on Self-Deception

Good reading.

Fr. Barron on Andrew Greeley

"In defense of Andrew Greeley".

Andy walked into the restaurant wearing a beautiful parka with a great hood and carrying loads of his books, which he offered to me and Bill as gifts. I was twenty-eight at the time, and I will confess to being a little star-struck. For the next couple of hours we talked and talked about all sorts of things: the Church, of course, but also literature, poetry, sociology, theology, Chicago sports, and politics. As Fr. Greeley talked, his eyes darted back and forth and a little grin always threatened to spread across his face.

Being with him was intoxicating.

I certainly hope Fr. Barroon means he and Andrew Greeley got drunk together, rather than the prospect that he went all gaga in the presence of a prelate who led souls into porn and apostasy.

So he 'star-struck', eh?

I knew I smelled a celebrity fetish.

I suppose it's a good thing his friend didn't introduce him to Charlie Manson.

Pope Francis says women should play expanded role in Church.

Pope Francis is purported to 'insist' that women take on greater responsibility for the Church, using their gifts of sensitivity and intuition toward the weak and unprotected in society.

Do you think Pope Francis is looking for my phone number?

This could be it.

Stop laughing.

Seriously - it sounds like he knows exactly where and how the gifts of women are most effective.

Still, I posted the following to his twitter account:

Top five clues the intuition of Church ladies is a dud

5. Has an Obama sticker on her car.
4. Reads America Magazine and National Catholic Reporter.
3. Does Yoga.
2. Doesn't count Rosaries.
1. Is looking for a greater role in the Church.

A spiritual allegory if I ever saw one.

This, sir, is no bird.

Urgent Alert

What a scumbag this woman's husband is.

All the child needs is a 30 more days in the womb. In this case, the hospital is a good guy.

Please take action on this ALL alert.

URGENT ALERT
Will you make a phone call or send an e-mail to save Baby Munoz' life?
I am writing today with an URGENT request. There is a preborn baby in Texas who will be put to death by Monday at 5:00 PM if all of us don't act immediately.

Since November 26, 2013, Baby Munoz' mother, Marlise Munoz, has been treated at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. Marlise was found unconscious by her husband and was taken to the hospital. She was put on life support and has been taken care of by the hospital for the last eight weeks. She is pregnant and her baby is still alive. Baby Munoz is just 22 weeks old and needs to stay in mom's womb for a few more weeks to have a good chance of survival.

The problem is that Marlise Munoz has been declared "brain dead" by doctors and the doctors, her husband, and her parents want treatment stopped. They want Marlise and her baby to be killed. The hospital has been the good guy here and has refused to stop treatment. The family took the hospital to court and, on Friday...

The judge ordered the hospital to kill both the mother and child by taking life support away from the mother!

The hospital is considering whether or not to appeal the ruling. Any appeal will give Baby Munoz more time to develop and increase the chances of survival.

Because of the "brain death" declaration, many people are making this into a complicated case. It is not. Your American Life League has been fighting these "Brain Death" declarations for years and, sadly, we predicted just this kind of thing, and worse, would happen. I could write volumes on why "brain death" is NOT true death and why medical personnel could not keep a truly dead person functioning for 8 weeks.

But we don't have time for that. We need to save this mother and child and we need to do it immediately.

We need you to call the hospital and beg them to continue fighting for the mother and child and to appeal the judge's ruling. Call or e-mail and thank them for what they have been doing and beg them to appeal.

Call the hospital president and CEO, Robert Earley at 817-702-3431. You can also reach the Chief Operating Officer, Bill Whitman, at the same number.

E-mail the Chairman of the Board, Trent Petty, at: BoardChair@jpshealth.org

Whether you call or e-mail, you need to do it immediately. Baby Munoz will be dead by Monday evening if we do not act NOW.

Thank you and pray that God will save this mother and child.

Pope Francis effect on catechesis

The priests whom Pope Francis has expressed he will not make judgments upon are starting to publicly disclose what they've been catechizing our children to say and do in our parishes and schools.

Jesuit parish priest Fr. John Whitney wrote a piece called "The Acts of Orange and Blue Apostles" in which he explains that Pope Francis approves of activism to change Church teaching on gay marriage as the example for Catholics to follow

Fr. Whitney explains that protesting teachings on marriage is what Pope Francis intended to convey when he instructed that we 'make a mess' in their diocese.

For Francis, it seems, the timidity of tightly held borders, the safe-harbor of accepted opinion and doctrinal purity risks a greater sin—a greater loss to the Church—than the dangerous paths of love and welcome.

Let us not shoot the messenger.

This is an accurate interpretation of catechetical instructions of Pope Francis.

It is also an accurate manifestation of the marching orders faithful Catholic families are receiving from numerous Boston priests with long histories of agendas to demoralize Church teaching - and if that is not possible demoralize children of families who bring their children to Church.

They had piped down during the pontificate of Pope Benedict but what Pope Francis is saying and doing is giving new life to their crusade.

Irreparable harm and damage is being done in the name of Pope Francis all over the Archdiocese.

This theological lunatic goes on:

In the last few weeks, the students of Eastside Catholic High School, and their companions from other schools in the area, have given us an example of the kind of passionate discernment, motivated by the Gospel, that characterizes an important dimension of Catholic education—and, indeed, should characterize our faith both in and out of school. Regardless of the particulars of this situation (and personnel issues may have complexities I do not know), these students have spoken up as products of Catholic education, as women and men motivated by the Spirit and by their own experience of grace. Though it is a painful time, their teachers and their parents should be proud of the Gospel spirit that has been planted in these young hearts. Likewise, we in the broader Church should be grateful for the mess these young people bring, and should listen with compassion and openness to the Spirit that moves within them. Their love, their gentleness, their quest to make of the Church “the home of all, not a small chapel that can hold only a small group of selected people,” demands more than the silence of authority; it demands communion and engagement with the Church—i.e., education, direction, dialogue—since their spirit is a sign of the Church and is life-blood for the Church. May we engage, with fearless love, at the side of our younger sisters and brothers; and may we trust in the God whose Church we are all becoming.

What king of charity does not make a judgment that this man is sick in the head and soul and contagion to hundreds if not thousands of souls under he is given access to pervert?

Fr. Whitney defended his marching in the Seattle gay pride parade in his parish bulletin and invited parishioners to join him. In that bulletin, he compared the Church’s teaching to Old Testament dietary restrictions.

In a 2012 interview with NPR, he called the bishops’ position defending traditional marriage “a denial of civil rights.”

Me thinks a few thousand dollars and a private investigator is order for this priest. I hear the pitter patter of thoughts arising from his genitalia.

I find it impossible to believe that the men charged with his oversight, and the temporal goods of the Church, have a tin ear to where his thoughts are coming from.

I've never believed the protestations of Chancery officials who claim they are ignorant of the root of agendas of these priests.

The chancery has a duty to make judgments about it and if they won't do it, it's the job of the Romans to find out why the bishop isn't doing it.

When one visits a Chancery and it looks more like a scene from the movie Birdcage than the fruit of a Catholic celibate seminary, one begins to see a pattern that the Romans have a duty to unravel.

The only thing we've seen less of in this pontificate, is celibate men who are trying to flee from it and seeking refuge in the Latin Mass.

Pope Francis can't be this stupid.

In the event he is, and it certainly is not out of the question, I'm not going to rest until we show him the fruit of this show.

At the end of the day, even if I we get from our efforts is that I know that he knows that we know, I'm satisfied I've done all I could for my children and grandchildren, and moreover to Christ and His Church and those who have the right of access to the tools for salvation.

If he knows that we can see it, he knows that Christ knows. Good luck to him carrying that baggage.

This priest is on fire!

Love it.

Christians in the Ukraine

Anyone following this, or have information on what is transpiring?

Seems like a very serious situation.

It seems to me their government's demoralization of Christ's people is way ahead of the American government?

Will not henceforth write, sign, or print in any way a single phrase which in our opinion distorts the truth.

Will utter such a phrase neither in private conversation not in the presence of many people, neither on our own behalf not at the prompting of someone else, either in the role of agitator, teacher, educator, not in a theatrical role.

Will not depict, foster or broadcast a single idea which we can only see is false or a distortion of the truth whether it be in painting, sculpture, photography, technical science, or music.

Will not cite out of context, either orally or written, a single quotation so as to please someone, to feather our own nest, to achieve success in our work, if we do not share completely the idea which is quoted, or if it does not accurately reflect the matter at issue.

Will not allow ourselves to be compelled to attend demonstrations or meetings if they are contrary to our desire or will, will neither take into hand not raise into the air a poster or slogan which we do not completely accept.

Will not raise our hand to vote for a proposal with which we do not sincerely sympathize, will vote neither openly nor secretly for a person whom we consider unworthy or of doubtful abilities.

Will not allow ourselves to be dragged to a meeting where there can be expected a forced or distorted discussion of a question.
Will immediately walk out of a meeting, session, lecture, performance or film showing if we hear a speaker tell lies, or purvey ideological nonsense or shameless propaganda.

Will not subscribe to or buy a newspaper or magazine in which information is distorted and primary facts are concealed
.

Compare this to the actions Cardinal Dolan, ordained priests and bishops and the plethora of husbands fathers and men in the United States who are doing all of the above in the name of Christ and His Church.

These men in the Ukraine demonstrate heroic virtue for their vocation and avocation. I know many who reside in the United States that exercise these virtues.

They are getting louder as the culture attempts to enforce immoral treatises upon the uncatechized.

The martyrs and saints are rising.

I really still hold onto the hope that Pope Francis is attempting to guide ships into safe ports in places where the physical massacre of Christians has yet to commence.

Silencing Church teaching just can't be the rules of order and obedience on our own ship.

It just can't be.

Mark is so full of sheat.

Not sure who Mendon Baloney is, but he's got a bad case of contagion.

Be sure to check the big turd in the comment section.

I think I get it. Prolifers need to be evangelized on the abortifacient properties of contraception and the sinful substance of contracepting and disposing of egg and sperm intended to unite and carry out God's plan - Mr. Baloney and Mr. Sheat think that's a disservice to Christ and the truth.

No agenda there, right?

What makes disclosing important?

Catechesis.

The children at the prolife march are children of prolife mothers and fathers.

These are our children.

Is it important to you that our own children be catechized on contraception and the moral teachings of the Church?

When was the last time they heard it from your priest?

The priest is the only link to affirming that what Mommy and Daddy teaches at home.

If he doesn't say anything about it, credibility is lost - and we lose the children of Christ's elect.

If you are sitting in a parish with your children where the priest contradicts Church teaching - he is a wolf.

Over the years, I've heard many parents tell me they know the priest is a wolf, but they continue to bring their children to the parish to be taught by a wolf because they've been singing in the choir or teaching CCD there for years, this is where their neighbors go, etc.

Most of the time, they think the outcome of bringing their own children to a wolf every Sunday to be taught by him, they will have the opportunity to convert the wolf.

But that is the job of his bishop. If the bishop doesn't do it, that is the job of the Romans. We know they are not doing it and I'll talk about this in a minute - but this is not your job.

Your job is to ensure your own children get converted.

Bringing your own children to a wolf to convert them to Catholic teaching as the prince of this world is pulling them away from it in everything in the secular culture has consequences.

Michael Voris has just showed you those consequences.

A great number of children of prolife families are being pulled to the center of your wolf's gravity.

Not only do people like Mark Sheat and Brandon what's his name don't care, they beat and maul the people who do.

And, they convince the foolish people in their comboxes and EWTN that this is an example of servitude to Christ.

The outcome of Mark Sheat's ministry is, he convinces parents to keep their children in the parish of a wolf.

The wolf brainwashes the children that Church's teachings on contraception and immorality are in error and offensive.

To defend his actions, Sheat actually denies that Catholic children hold convictions contradict Church teaching on contraception, premarital sex and gay marriage?

Ludicrous and dangerous.

It is irresponsible for EWTN to continue to retain the man. Aside from his very well documented problem with abusive conduct, he is negatively impacting the salvation of souls.

When prolife families are gathered somewhere, and you test the substance of their catechesis to find one hundred thousand of them with perverted moral compasses, that's something righteous people would have the internal incentives to want to see fixed.

These are the children of faithfully practicing Catholics.

We would want to alert parents of prolife families that something is going awry, so they can take an inventory of where they can improve exposure to priests who will convincingly explain, teach and affirm Church teaching.

Mark can even pervert this intention and good work.

Let's talk about the priests and their bishops (and the Romans) who contribute to this predicament.

They are divided into priests who deprive Catholics of Church teaching and those who pervert it.

I was speaking to a friend of mine last night about Cardinal O'Malley's wonderful remarks this week in the Boston Herald.

The normal Catholic in the parish might hear a sermon on abortion once a year. They’ll never hear a sermon on homosexuality or gay marriage. They’ll never hear a sermon about contraception. But if you look at the New York Times, in the course of a week, there will be 20 articles on those topics. So who is obsessed?

(It has occurred to me that the Pope intended intended to convey that the people obsessed with Church teaching are those who oppose it as we know this to be the case. More on this at another time.)

My friend and I were discussing how refreshing the observation is that Catholics never hear Church teaching on contraception, homosexuality and gay marriage.

My friend pointedly said.

That's nice.

But who's in charge?!!

Who is responsible?!!

I LOL.

We're not there yet are we.

The person in charge who knows our families have zero catechesis and leadership on these critical subject matters at this time in our history, is charged with fixing that starvation and deprivation.

Fax a memo six times a year saying here is the substance you need to teach this weekend. Here is the message. Here is how to deliver said message sensitively.

Better yet, six times a year, produce a video of the message with the Cardinal saying and send the video to each parish with a memo saying it is mandated at every Mass this weekend.

This way, the Cardinal gets to build his relationships with the people AND delivers, teaches and fortifies what parents are teaching at home - as Church teaching.

When priests refuse -there are one or two or three - replace them as pastor.

Mark Shea and Brandon blahblahblah are not invested in this kind of an outcome. They are too busy upholding the divisions in our family between the priests and bishops and Rome. Too busy fortifying the culture where children who bring their needs to their father are villainized.

You want to talk about who is being divisive?

Who the culprits of division in our family are, who is obstructing Church teaching, who is responsible for the gross misunderstanding of Church teaching in one hundred thousand children of prolife families?

The Mark Sheats at every parish and apostolate.

I'm going to continue to work stamping out his voice and obstructions. More on that later!

You're going down baby!

It's all going down.

Meanwhile, a new Vortex is up that relates to the subject matter.

Love will keep us together...oh wait.

This is actually quite strange.

After 39 years, their... insurance plan blew their marriage out of the water?

As in Obamacare?

To add mystery, the Captain seems to have been caught by surprise.

Hey, Pope Francis...what's that you say about small-minded rules about murder?

We're coming your way!

The muslims posted this warning to Christians in Nazareth.

Yet, I find those unwilling to acknowledge the mass murders of Christians are much more offensive than this murdering brood of vipers.

Beware of Lyndon LaRouche Group

Practicing Catholics in Boston - particularly Irish Catholics - have very mixed memories of John F. Kennedy.

JFK had the Irish fire in his gut for love of man and his country.  As a young child, I don't ever recall going into a home that didn't have his picture hanging on a wall or resting on a piece of furniture in a place of honor.  He was a kind man with a beautiful wife, family, passion for the immigrants and the poor and racial harmony - and his death was and remains devastating.

When I look back over the course of time, I often think that is the moment our world changed.

Jack struggled with his faith and power as people often do in politics.  Religious bigotry against Catholics was an obstacle to his election.  In spite of his famous and ludicrous statement that conveyed he would not let his conscience formed by the truth affect his judgment, he was not a culture warrior for immorality and murder.   It is alleged to have struggled with chastity in his own marriage but he did not impose his own struggles with immorality upon our country with pursuits to legislate them as ideals and virtues.  That legacy was introduced by his brother Ted who went to his grave without straightening out his own family, or his country.

In many ways, the Kennedy family was exploited by sick prelates seeking political power.  Upon JFK's rise, they flocked to the family to latch onto their tails for a ride to power.  (One of whom is still seated in the Chancery of Boston, Fr. Bryan Hehir)

Under the guise of spiritually guiding the Kennedy family through the grief of violently robbing them of two brothers, priests with their own broken moral compasses led the family into the abyss.

As a second generation immigrant Irish Roman Catholic, I am sickened by the exploitation of grief and larceny of this family's faith by ordained Catholic men.  I thank God for Bishop Tobin.  When it became obvious that private counseling would not lead Patrick Kennedy back to the truth, he took the actions necessary to sever the leadership of his flock.

The Kennedy's are kind and loving people.  I especially love Joe.  In his passion and life's work has been keeping struggling families supplied with oil to heat their homes, keep their families warm.  He tried to broker a deal with many American fuel companies and they rebuffed him.  The country of Venezuela finally assisted him.  He's faced controversies for accepting cheap oil from communists but I've never been able to gin up indignation.    Every time I see him, my indignation is directed towards the spiritual misfeasance of ordained Catholic men who led the family into the abyss.

Because the Kennedy family, in their poor state, has assisted with legislation that have led so many into their spiritual suicide and homicide, Catholics have little tolerance to integrate any initiative related to the Kennedy family.   I share that intolerance as the agendas of those bringing what appears to be harmless is always much more convoluted when you scratch the surface.

Scratching the surface, doing diligence on agendas, is not something ordained Catholic men take the time to do.

A fellow Boston Catholic warrior and reader Don Camillo alerted me to his concerns about the presence of group with ties to Lyndon LaRouch in Boston.  He's written a guest post which I share with you today.

***************

I live in the City of Boston.  Recently, I started noticing this poster
pasted ubiquitously all over most city neighborhoods.  As you can read, the posters advertise a 50th anniversary commemoration concert to memorialize the life and ideals of JFK.  According to advertising and an article in the Archdiocese’s newspaper the Pilot

, the Mozart Requiem at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross is being underwritten and co-sponsored by the Schiller Institute.

Why am I writing about this fairly harmless concert on a Catholic watchdog blog?

What’s the real problem here: (a) Kennedy politics (b) the current state of the Democratic Party ideals (c) my preference for Verdi’s requiem (d) The current lack of leadership from Cardinal Sean O’Malley.  Specifically, Cardinal Sean has erred by allowing a recognized cult (The Schiller Institute) to co-sponsor an event with the archdiocese in the Cathedral of the Holy Cross.

If you said (d) you are correct.  Maybe you researched the Schiller Institute before answering (d).  If so good for you, it is far more than the Cardinal and his advisors did.

The most cursory research of the Schiller Institute would lead Inspector Clouseau to conclude the following.  The Schiller Institute is an arm of the Lyndon LaRouche political cult.  The LaRouche Cult operates under various names including the Schiller Institute, the Lydon Larouche PAC, the Lyndon LaRouche Worldwide Youth Movement.  The president of the Schiller Institute is Helga LaRouche, the wife of Lyndon LaRouche.

Yes, those LaRouche automatons.  You know them standing in front of your local post office.  They have eager smiles and glassed over eyes. They have a cardtable full of sundry conspiracy literature with large pictures of President Obama and President Bush with Hitler mustaches to attract your attention.  You can find out lots of information about cults and the LaRouche cult online.  One example of a website that identifies the Schiller Institute as a cult and the danger of cults is the Freedom of Mind Resource Center.   Remember for every glassy eyed fool at a LaRouche table in front of your post office there are two broken hearted parents and a few siblings wondering what happened to their son or brother.

Oh Lord, where is our shepherd?  How can Cardinal Sean be so dunderheaded and easily connived?  How many nice people will be swindled because they gave their credit card or financial data to help support this project?  (Yes, the LaRouche people were fundraising for this event using an online giving site.)  How many catholic old ladies, lonely students, or music lovers will get taken in by the LaRouche cult this afternoon at the Holy Cross Cathedral?  How many souls will be led astray thanks to the sleeping (and traveling) shepherd?

So you think the mantle of credibility laid upon the disciples of Lyndon LaRouche is no big deal.  Sure there is something to be said for the fact that most Bostonians will be watching Tom Brady this Sunday afternoon instead of swooning over the symphonic strains of Mozart in the South End.  However, you can bet that this event will be rebroadcast all over the world on various LaRouche websites and maybe even on the Cardinal’s vanity television station.   I believe that Boston is the second diocese (possibly archdiocese) to be taken in by Lyndon LaRouche and the Schiller Institute with this Kennedy concert scam.  Shame on any pastor who lets these creeps into the sanctuary.  I hope this brief blog post will prompt a mea culpa from Cardinal Sean, but I doubt it.  Apologize to his sheep- no way.  It is easier to use his cadre of public relations professionals to explain away this ugly omission in leadership.

This is so sad.  Here we are in Beantown, once a city on a hill not the home of gay marriage.   Here the Catholic Church and Catholic citizenry climbed over the rubble of the burnt  Ursuline Covent to make great contributions to this burg and the nation without being anything but authentically American and Roman Catholic.  The Boston croziers of Cheverus, Fenton, Fitzpatrick, and Williams were cast iron rods unyielding in the protection and growth of their flock.  Cardinal Sean wields a crozier with malleability of a pipe cleaner.

The sheep are lost.  Oh Lord, where is our shepherd?

Author's note:  I've read Carol McKinley's great reporting at the 10th Crusade/Throw The Bums Out for years and I have tipped her off on a couple of instances of rousing incompetence in the leadership of the Archdiocese of Boston.  I am choosing to remain anonymous to safeguard my vantage point.   I am very happy to author this guest post as Don Camillo.

Secret Sex Society at Vatican

Oh come on.

Is this supposed to be breaking news?

Mama Cass is dead.

The Lindberg baby was kidnapped.

Martin Luther King and JFK were assassinated.

Technically, things that have been commonly known for thirty or forty years don't qualify as a secret!

Even the Pope admitted the existence:

And, yes .. it is difficult. In the curia there are also holy men, really, there are holy people. There is talk of a gay lobby, and it's true, it's there ... We have to see what we can do. Pray for me ... that I should make as few mistakes as possible. "

What to do. What to do.

Just a few days after the encounter with the CLAR representatives Pope Francis appointed Msgr. Battista Ricca, the Director of the guest house Santa Marta, his personal representative and House Prelate of the Vatican bank IOR. The pederastic [One of his victims was an underage prostitute. This is invariably overlooked.] past of the Monsignor was uncovered by Sandro Magister. Nevertheless, Pope Francis never wavered on the appointment.

I know, I'll put one of the pedophiles in charge of a hotel and bank.

Who am I to judge?

Strangely, the only thing there's less of in Rome under this pontificate are celibate and faithful priests who pray the Liturgy in Latin.

Missionary Work

Several months back, I met a young single mother while waiting for a train at South Station.   She was having a conversation with her mother on her cell phone, multitasking -feeding her 3 year old daughter breakfast at the same time.

I overheard her telling her Mom she secured a job interview, needed to call them back to schedule a time and asked if and when her Mom could help by making herself available.   The conversation ended after unsuccessfully trying to schedule a time over the course of the following few weeks.  The conversation seemed to take the wind out of her sails.

She made another call asking someone else for assistance and I overheard her explaining how she had tried her parents but they were very busy volunteering their time at the library and local dog hospital.

A set of screwed up priorities if I ever heard them.

I try hard to keep the focus of my 'volunteer' hours on the people who are important in my life, but I find I often miss the boat myself.

"Stay where you are. Find your own Calcutta. Find the sick, the suffering and the lonely right there where you are — in your own homes and in your own families, in your workplaces and in your schools. You can find Calcutta all over the world, if you have the eyes to see. Everywhere, wherever you go, you find people who are unwanted, unloved, uncared for, just rejected by society — completely forgotten, completely left alone.” - Blessed Mother Teresa

Andrew Cuomo Suggests Ethnic Cleansing of New York

Advocates of executing people who burden them are getting mighty brazen.

Andrew Cuomo has announced New York should be cleansed of prolife conservatives.

I wonder exactly how this no good bastard plans to round prolifers up and rid New York of us?

St. Catherine's of Siena

A few weeks back, a problematic priest at St. Catherine's of Siena published a statement in the bulletin stating that the Church sees the new manifestation of the Holy Family in the manager in Bethlehem as two mommies or daddies. He also discussed this new caricature of the Holy Family during a homily at every Mass.

Parents present with their children had to pile their children in the back seat of the car after Mass and have the conversations we are all quite familiar with about Father's errors.

The wedge between the parents teaching Church teaching faithfully, and Father's screwball theology will be irreparable for some children. Damage done may last their entire lifetime.

Father's authority goes further than their parents in the eyes of a child. They don't understand what's happened in the Church. They're too young to process it and make the right judgment that Father is an undisciplined apostate.

They then go to school and hear the teachers telling them that their parents are the enemies of their sexual freedom. The teachers give them 'how to' sex lessons in accordance with their own immoral convictions. Then when the child sitting next to them gets sexually stimulated by the thoughts being presented and directs that sexual energy towards a child of a Catholic parent, they remember that Father told them this is now the manifestation of sexual relations are now the new Holy Family of the Roman Catholic Church.

They may never recover.

The past thirty or forty years, the Church ordained a great number of men who were or are morally and sexually disordered. You know them by what they teach and preach - and what they don't. Their agendas have been to teach Catholic children their concepts of human sexuality.

Fr. Garrity has made himself crystal clear that he is a danger to the formation of Catholic children.
I don't know why any Catholic parent would still be sitting in the pews of St. Catherine's of Sienna.

A Catholic parent's duty is to their children. It isn't the long history of singing in a choir, or serving in a ministry in the Church, or even sitting in the pews with people in the same community. Not under circumstances where your children are brainwashed by an intellectually, spiritually and psychosexually malformed priest.

Get out. Leave your ministries and friends behind. Shake the dust of your sandals and mosey on down the road.

There are many faithful priests here in Boston. Say goodbye to Fr. Garrity and take your children to a priest who will give them what they need to make right spiritual judgments for the rest of their natural born life.

This applies to any other parish in the Archdiocese where an apostate priest is assigned.

Many parents at St. Catherine's and others across the archdiocese contacted the local Bishop and Chancery.

In the past, there's a long, long, history of what happens to parents who seek intervention on a priest going awry and leading others into the pit. That history isn't good.

Boston Catholics have repeatedly asked that the Archdiocese make changes to how they review complaints, investigate them and carry out actions. We have repeatedly asked that, should the facts bear out that the priest is in error, their disciplinary actions be directed towards the priest - instead of the whisteblower.

Believe it or not, we are still not there yet. What was broken was never fixed. It in fact only got more entrenched. (This is why the Holy Father's assertions that the Holy See is going to hand off power to discipline to the wolves on the local level is so ludicrous.)

Because in the past, disciplinary actions are directed towards whistlblowers, Boston Catholics had to set up an anonymous blog. The blog protects whistblowers by giving them a venue to air the grievance in the public square. This cuts the thuggery of the various characters in power by protecting the identity of the whisteblower, thereby cutting off their ability to slander, threaten, accuse, fire or discipline the whistleblower.

At various times over the course of the last several years, we have asked them to man up and make the changes they need to make. It has always been the same old game that starts with patronizing letters and ends with ugly hostility directed towards the whistleblower. The disordered priest keeps right on going.

This was the system they used to protect pedophiles, and they use the same system to protect apostate priests.

Every once in a while - about once a year - I have the bandwidth to present the problem and ask them to please stop playing the games.

This time, they did.

For the first time in at least ten years, the complaint was received, reviewed, investigated, the judgment of Church teaching and law was applied - and a clarification was issued this weekend.

It is below.

We are pleased with the message and outcome - and very much hope that how this was handled is our future.

There is one thing I would add to the theology below. It is so very true that in these days, for conversion, we must bear with one another and forgive one another - put up with each other. Was it Paul who says "Please put up with me!"?

But kindness and gentleness are not the only virtues of the Holy Family.

As we well know, the Holy Family took flight from those wishing to do harm to their child. They did not bear with or put up with it.

The Catholic Church is a place that we bring our children to be given the tools for their salvation. Putting up with brainwashing them into error is not an option for any family - irrespective of the struggles each of us has, personally and within the family. We are striving towards perfection of the soul. Church teaching cannot be obstructed, thwarted, confused or contradicted.

If it is, and we can't fix it, we take flight to a parish where our children are safe - until such time as the Chancery executes their duties in a manner worthy of the Lamb, as they have done on this occasion.

We are thankful for it and we have hope that blogs usefulness in exposing corruption will someday not be needed. The sooner the better for all concerned.

From the Pastor’s Desk January 19, 2014

The Feast of the Holy Family takes place on the Sunday after Christmas and invites us to reflect on Jesus, Mary and Joseph as the first family of Christendom. To say the least, the Holy Family is totally unique. When Jesus was born of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Isaiah’s prophecy was fulfilled: “the virgin shall be with child, and bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel.” (Is.7.14) Likewise, the prophet Micah’s prediction about Bethlehem would also be realized: “You Bethlehem-Ephrathah, too small to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler of Israel; whose origin is from of old, from ancient times.” (Mi 5. 8-9) The star that led the Wisemen to Bethlehem was totally out of the ordinary events of life. And the shepherds visiting Joseph, Mary and their newborn son on that first Christmas night amidst the choirs of angels had to set that first Christmas apart from any other event in human history. The first Christmas was not a normal day in history and Mary, Joseph and Jesus were not and are not your average family.

My bulletin column of December 29th tried to capture the unusual circumstances surrounding the birth of Jesus and described them as being not “normal” or “ideal.” These words were used to contrast the Holy Family with what was described as the idyllic view of family life depicted in old television shows like “The Ozzie and Harriet Show” and “Leave It To Beaver.” In no way was there any intention to imply anything beyond this contrast. By calling attention to the impoverished circumstances in which the birth of Jesus took place, the clear implication was to invite us to have greater sensitivity to the needs of the poor in our own day and to be sensitive to the difficulties and hardships that are all too often part of the human condition.

In the Liturgy for Holy Family Sunday, St. Paul’s Epistle to the Colossians spoke of “...heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another ... and over all these put on love that is the bond of perfection.” (Col. 3. 12-14) Modeled by the Holy Family, these are the qualities that all families should seek to emulate. And, obviously, not only should families strive to live these virtues, but we should all be striving to make these the habits of our hearts too!

Later this year, our Holy Father Pope Francis will convene a Synod in Rome to reflect upon the challenges that families face in our own day. A Synod is a very high level meeting of bishops representing all the bishops’ conferences around the world. Traditionally, when the Synod concludes, the Pope issues a letter or instruction to the whole church that captures the work of the Synod bishops. This Synod already promises to be very historic because of the wide consultation that is being conducted in preparation for the fall meeting. The consultation is being conducted around 9 major areas of interest and is seeking objective feedback regarding the challenges that families face around the world.

“Pastoral Challenges to the Family in the Context of Evangelization,” the consultation document, reiterates the Church’s traditional teachings on marriage and family. It identifies specific, con- temporary social realities and asks for information about the kind of pastoral care that is being provided. When the Synod convenes in October, the bishops will have much to discuss and, presumably, will challenge us all to a more Christ centered and evangelizing spirituality.

As we look to the Synod in the fall and reflect on the beauty and simplicity of the Holy Family, let us together pray for all families who strive to be vehicles of unconditional love in which children come to know by heart the origin of that love. Jesus, Mary and Joseph expect nothing less!
God Bless! Msgr. Paul

Dr. Peters on the Pope Francis/Cardinal O'Malley Reformations

Dr. Peters has some excellent observations relative to the 'reformation' of the Catholic Church at hand.

I'm not sure I agree with everything Dr. Peter's says, but his overall observations about ramifications to souls are very good.

The most important point, and one that I have echoed here, the bulk of the damage that Catholics are concerned about are how the peculiar ritual of "reaffirming" a Catholic Sacrament in a Protestant Church is understood by the people watching it, and then used to confuse or attack faithful Catholics.

After all is said and done, people who may find the teachings of the Catholic Church offensive to their personal taste in lifestyle, will go to the Protestant Church as the soundbyte is, bringing your child to a Protestant Church for Baptism is the same thing!

All you have to do, is take a look at the comments section here, to see the contortions of understanding Catholic Sacraments being circulated among the uncatechized.

I do not agree that renewing a Catholic Sacrament at the hands of Protestant minister is canonically licit under the circumstances relating to Cardinal O'Malley's Sacramental anointing in Sudbury.

The word 'licit' means canonically lawful.

If it were canonically lawful, we would be able to find the permission of renewing sacraments in a Protestant Church within the law.

The Sacrament of Baptism is 'reaffirmed' at the Sacrament of Confirmation. The ritual performed by Cardinal O'Malley cannot be found in Church law.

Anyway, this discussion is about the theological law of love and about the damage being done to the understanding of our Sacraments.

Note Dr. Peter's comments:

For example: “It is not a blessing or a sacrament,” archdiocesan spokesman Terrence C. Donilon said in an e-mail. “It is a recalling of the grace of Baptism. Catholics do it every time they enter a church, by dipping their finger into the holy water font and making the sign of the cross.”

Notice, Donilon denies the Protestant minister’s action was a “blessing” but then says it was like Catholics “making the sign of the cross”—which is a blessing!

Blessings are sacramentals. Perhaps the most common Christian sacramental is the Sign of the Cross, augmented or not by the use of Holy Water, and performed by millions of Catholics every day. No canon or liturgical law prohibits baptized non-Catholics from making the Sign of the Cross nor from using Holy Water in accord with its character. Thus, one Christian making the Sign of the Cross on another Christian’s forehead (in explicit commemoration of one’s baptism or not) is simply something to be explained to those not used to seeing it performed by a female Protestant minister on a Catholic cardinal—it is not something whose character should be denied by a Church spokesman, only to be admitted by an analogy that was intended to distinguish the two acts! That is to pile confusion on top of confusion.

Mr Donilon has repeatedly demonstrated his willingness to - and I hate to use this word but it's a fit - lie to Catholics about the precepts of their religion in a crusade to defend the errors of prelates and bishops.

This manifestation of the good ole boys has been a major contributor to the donnybrooks with the Cardinal. Nobody benefits from the necessity to then point out that not only is the bishop committing error, the Cardinal's public relations team is deliberately misleading Catholics to cover that error. The more we correct their errors, the further Mr. Donilon digs the Cardinal into a hole.

It has been a gross disruption of trust in the relationship with our Cardinal.

Changes need to be made to this dynamic.

Cardinal O'Malley's Participation in the Farcical 'Reaffirmation' Ritual

As many of you have read by now, Cardinal O'Malley went to a Baptist Minister to have his baptism reaffirmed.

Let me ask this question (and I think we all know the answer).

Why doesn't he go to Anne Robertson to renew the vows of his ordination?

Would he not wish to leave Catholics (or the Protestants for that matter) with the impression that she has the power and authority to do such a thing?

Why then would he simulate a Sacrament of the Catholic Church that could (and most likely does) confuse Catholics?

Furthermore, why with this woman?

The minister, Anne Robertson, authored a book "God's Top 10: Blowing the Lid Off the Commandments" in which she describes blowing the lid off of prohibitions against contraception, legalized abortion, and same-sex marriage.

Even if one is willing to sink low enough to undermine the Sacraments with the Tom Foolery of letting our separated sister publicly anoint an Apostolic successor, wouldn't the advocacy of murder and immorality prevent one from participating in this farcical ritual?

How about if she advocated for apartheid or ethnic cleansing?

Or is it just the murder of children and spiritual mayhem upon our homosexual brothers and sisters he's willing to overlook.

This was my favorite part:

She paused with the priest at the cardinal’s pew, so they could receive the baptism water from Cardinal O’Malley. The next moment, the cardinal quietly asked the Rev. Robertson to administer the water for him.

“My heart immediately went to my throat,” she said. “To be asked that by the man who might be pope someday – I was stunned. I was choking back tears for hours.”

We are crying too baby.

We are crying too.

News from the Supreme Court Hearing - McCullen v. Coakley

News is good from people in attendance at the hearing.

Alito blew it out of the park. Brought up all the violence of unions and then said let me get this straight—two women are standing inside the buffer zone and one says, this place is safe; the other says this place is unsafe. Because of her speech the woman who says it is unsafe, could be arrested. Every time the femi nazi lawyer for the state called them protesters, Alito cut them right down. He said women are giving counsel and handing out literature.

There is an article in the Washington Post already http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/supreme-court-justices-question-size-of-buffer-zones-around-mass-abortion-clinics/2014/01/15/834f21c4-7e02-11e3-95c6-0a7aa80874bc_story.html?hpid=z4. Even Kagan seemed to be leaning our way. Although Roberts did not speak, Thomas showed something in a book he had open to Alito, and then Alito I think showed it to Roberts.

Jesuits Cut John Dear Loose

Living in Boston and knowing how bad the Jesuits who are still in good standing, I'd love to know exactly what John Dear did to get kicked out!

Since the mission of the religious order has been contradicting Church teaching in academia and the public square for decades, it obviously had nothing to do with his apostasy.

Discrediting and undermining the Catholic Church is ok, but the rug will get pulled underneath your feet is you discredit the terrorism of the Obama administration!

That was his waterloo!

The Boston Globe's Reformation of the Catholic Religion

As you may already have heard, the Boston Globe has hired John Allen of the National Katholic Fishwrap.

I've had my eye on their crusade to demoralize the culture for two decades.

Ignorant of the culture war, I learned what was being taught about human sexuality at the local junior high when my oldest was in second grade.

A degrading caricature of preteen girls as a sexual receptacle for teenage boys that literally came with 'how to' lessons.  "How to" for teenage boys and "how to" protect yourself against sexual diseases and dispose of created human life for pubescent girls.  The 'sexual freedom' of turning women into vulgar and immoral people takes years of training in public schools.

That's how and why I became involved in the culture war.

Several years before the 'sexual crisis' exploded in the media,  somebody sent me a link to an obscure private website wherein several employees of the Boston Globe were actively reaching out to find victims of priestly sexual abuse.

Of course, there is nothing nefarious about that initiative.

If someone came to me with a story of victimization and the mishandling of a pedophile priest by the Church, led me to other victims - I'd pursue that lead myself.  If I found corruption that put children in harms way, I'd expose it.

Things that put people in harm's way - inside and outside of the Church - is what this blog is all about.

But the content of that obscure website, which included forums where people could post, began to take on a network of various recognizable militant culture warrior groups - women priest, married priest, planned parenthood, abortion and gay marriage groups.

What would they be doing helping the Boston Globe flush out victims of pedophile priests?

Several months later, I learned that these various culture warrior groups were actually quite organized and had simultaneously been working under the radar with a group of priests in the Archdiocese.  Boston priests with long histories of advocating sexual immorality (in particular to our homosexual brothers and sisters) had formed a group and named themselves the Boston Priests Forum.

I wondered if these two initiatives were tied together.

I networked with faithful Catholics to plant moles into their meetings and learned that Boston priest Rev. Walter Cuenin was on top of this local fiefdom.   On top of him was Notre Dame apostate priest Fr. Richard McBrien.

By the time the Boston Globe stories began hitting the fan, these groups were established in various parishes under the name of "Voice of the Faithful" and poised to take over the reform of catechesis and ministries.

It was all very well orchestrated and they selected Boston, I presume, due to the sheer number of unfaithful priests who long to see prohibitions against immorality, sin and murder of the innocents formally lifted by a reigning Pope.

The network of priest and lay reformers is fizzled and fractured but still very much exists.  The Chancery in Boston, and consequently catechesis, is being controlled by them.  The Cardinal has left the building and everything has been structured to report to committees of lay people whose decisions are controlled by appointees with agendas to 'reform' Church teaching.

All being controlled by the people in control of the money.  The Archbishop is out of the picture.    I suspect this 'reform' is what is currently under the nose of the Pope.

In watching the most recent brazen moves of Frs. Unni and Garrity, along with recent coverage in the Boston Globe of Pope Francis supposed reformations  -  I suspect that the hiring of John Allen is not a coincidence.

Local power broker of the Democratic National Party, Jack Connors (discussed many times on this blog and on Boston Catholic Insider) is very influential at the Boston Globe.

The Boston Globe is already laying groundwork for the next phase of their reformation.

Here is a story about Catholics in the age of Pope Francis.

Péan has built her life around the church. When she was in her early 20s, she started a mission church in Luly, an impoverished village in her native Haiti. The congregation grew from four members to more than 200. She sat with mothers of sick children, prayed with fishermen in their boats, even preached on Sundays. Everything a priest does, except for the sacramental work forbidden to women — marriage, baptisms, the consecration of bread and wine.
The experience deepened Péan’s love for her church — and her impatience with it. She wants the all-male hierarchy to let women and unordained men do more, make more decisions, even participate in the election of popes...
Pope Francis feels almost like a colleague. Maybe it sounds audacious, but Péan thinks that is how he would see it, too...I like his radicalism.

Here is another quote from a parishioner of one of Boston's renegade priests:

Richard McGuinness , 47, grew up in a close-knit family in West Roxbury and Norwood. He flourished, socially and academically, at Xaverian Brothers High School and the Catholic University of America. When he came out as gay in his 20s, he never saw it as a religious crisis. These days, he goes to Mass every week at St. Susanna with his partner of nine years.“I’ve never let the church’s hang-ups bother my faith,” he says. “I grew up with this religion. It’s my religion. . . . I don’t want middlemen of the cloth interfering with my relationship with God.”Coming to terms with his sexuality, he says, “kind of corrected me.” It helps him, as someone who has been privileged in so many ways, understand what it means to be ostracized.“Is it God-given? Probably,” he says of his sexuality. But sinful? No...
he is glad that Francis is changing the tone and retraining the church’s focus.

“I think about the nuns that have dedicated their lives to those who live in poverty, who are educators, nurturers, nurses — they’re like the troops of the church. And what do they think when they hear these bombastic directives on homosexuality and gays? They need backup.

They sure do.

When one of the infamous dissident priests, Fr. Steve Josoma, protested clustering his deceptive and disordered parish with a faithful parish, the Cardinal backed Fr. Josoma up:

Bates worries about her parish’s future. The plan by the archdiocese to cluster parishes had initially proposed pairing St. Susanna with another more traditional parish in town, St. Mary. Parishioners at St. Susanna protested, saying there were too many differences in the parishes’ finances and pastoral and spiritual approaches. Plans have been put on hold temporarily.

With momentum from Pope Francis, the Boston Globe ran an article yesterday stating that for Catholics, natural law is one path to accepting gays.

Catholics take great exception to the foolish notion that the Catholic Church doesn't 'accept' gays.

Attractions to sin is the very reason why every single person in the pew seeks the Sacraments of the Catholic Church and Properties of Divinity in the Eucharist. These things are food for the battles we wage against attractions to sin.

Homosexuals have never been unwelcome or excluded from the price of our soul's salvation.

What is unwelcome are agendas and materials that lead Catholics to accept same sex attractions, assume them as their identity and then act upon them.

What is unwelcome are agendas that prohibit our priests from explaining the proper disposition of those attractions: celibacy.

Catholics can never act upon SSA attractions. We can't live with our lovers. We cannot set up an abode, adopt children and hoodwink them into the misunderstanding that by going to Church and sitting in the pews as a family, the absence of teaching of moral theology means the sexual relationship of their parents is accepted and no longer a sin.

The manifestation of this disordered conclusion doesn't just spiritually injure the children of that family.  The disordered conclusion is forcefully foisted upon the entire parish of Catholics who take the mission of the salvation of their children's souls seriously.

Prohibitions against teaching the appropriate response to SSA attractions in our schools and parishes for the sake of that one family are damaging thousands seeking the proper judgment and tools of the Church to resist temptation.

This outcome is not welcome and it can and never will be welcome.

Yesterday's story implied that Pope Francis can or will change the definition of 'natural law'.

I can say with certainty that is not where Pope Francis will be when the dust settles. Pope Francis will go to his grave without making changes to Church teaching on the subject matters important to the cultural warriors.

Pope Francis, however, can do further damage to the culture if he proceeds on his current trajectory. Intentional or unintentional outcome of damage is actually irrelevant to the fact that his statements will be used to pervert minds and souls.

The Globe also ran a story on how the amoral and immoral proscriptions of the secular culture has in the past clashed with Christian evangelical churches.

But in the past several years, a new current has arisen in conservative evangelical thought: A small but significant number of theologians, psychologists, and other conservative Christians are beginning to develop moral arguments that it’s possible to affirm same-sex relationships not in spite of orthodox theology, but within it. In books, academic journals, magazines, blog posts, speeches, conferences, and campus clubs, they are steadily building a case that there is a place in the traditional evangelical church for sexually active gay people in committed, monogamous relationships.

I suspect that John Allen is being brought to Boston to help the culture warriors lead a media crusade to misinform and calibrate Pope Francis' statements. Again, I also suspect that it is not a coincidence that Frs. Unni and Garrity are rising to publicly and brazenly distort and pervert Church teaching.

Boston lay Catholics had much of this stamped out and they were flying under the radar for the last three or four years.

The secular culture has been overcome by the prince of this world. I suspect the momentum of the battle for the soul of the Church is intensifying and at hand. It is more organized than we think or know or care. It is at hand.

Keep your eyes on The Boston Globe.

Monsignor Paul Garrity Blasphemes the Holy Family with the claim 'there is no such thing as normal'

Boston Catholic Insider has details HERE and HERE.

Monsignor Garrity's vulgar and execrable remarks about the wife of St. Joseph, spouse of the Holy Spirit and Blessed Virgin as an 'unwed mother' gave way to the ghoulish theological erratum that the "first family of Christianity reminds us that there is no such thing as normal", and we must therefore "applaud the virtues' of the modern manifestation of the Holy Family in the creche of erotica at the Playboy Bunny Mansion.

Many Boston Catholics have (once again)asked the bishops for intervention. Please keep them, and this spiritually disoriented priest, in your prayers.

Anatomy of Investigation of Theological and Liturgical Complaints at Your Local Chancery

This is something Boston Catholics have struggled with over the past few years. If you are reading TTC, I would imagine you've experienced similar struggles in your diocese.

When reporting concerns that our families, people we love and care about are being theologically misled by a program or person, we get the run around.

The run around here in Boston has been reduced to a receptionist asking a few question about the nature of your call and as soon as you disclose it, you are forwarded to a complaint line. Essentially, a voicemail message where you air the gripes on a recorded line.

Oh wait, this about one of our priests, employees or volunteers spiritually abusing and leading others into the abyss?

Talk to the hand baby. Talk to the hand.

This is unusual, even for Boston!

(n.b. Do not accept that outcome. When you call the Chancery, ask for the Vicar General's Office and tell anyone who asks questions before you get them on the phone that your call is of a personal and confidential nature.)

The usual and customary run around involves receiving a letter thanking you for your concerns and then the program goes on exploiting and scandalizing Catholics. (Boston does this too)

When Catholics return to the Chancery to again seek intervention, that's when the fur starts to fly.

In the followup phone calls, the lengths they go to protect the priest teaching immorality as virtue make your head spin.

Most often, it becomes clear that they didn't do the diligence before sending out the dismissive letter. It also becomes clear they have no intention of ever doing the diligence. If you persist in seeking relief for the victims of spiritual malpractice, you find yourself subjected to hostility, bullying, slander and threats - both at the Chancery level and on the level of the parish or school.

Close to fifteen years after the exposition of cronyism and clericalism in Chanceries that protected pedophiles, how could it be we are still experiencing the phenomenon?

What kind of people operate this way for decades on end? They see the damage to the Church and to souls - sometimes dying in that state, and they just keep on going with the foolish game of giving people who do care the run around.

Dealing with people honestly and in good faith, pursuing what is right and just, worthy of Christ and His Church. should be as natural to people who take positions in the Chancery as parents who do everything they can to protect their children from things that harm them.

A priest who brings in a sorcerer who claims to speak to dead relatives, a speaker or program or group that leads Catholics to reject Church teaching, invalid matter for transubstantiation, why wouldn't they pursue the truth and take appropriate actions to protect people from being demoralized?

It is a mystery I will never understand. And I do not understand how Pope Francis could caricature cronies and monsters as priests who teach moral theology. Cronies are the priests who obstruct the teaching of moral theology. He couldn't be ignorant of 30 years of immorality and sin being shoved down our throats.

The idea that the structure of the Roman Catholic Church will leave authority to free victims of cronies to the cronies themselves, is mind boggling.

Goodbye to Monsignor and the Very Reverend

Is this satire?

I can't tell.

I hope not!

La Stampa is not one to use satire so I presume it isn't.

But stripping titles from the good ole boy network isn't going to unravel the real problem but it is a step in the right direction.

The real problem is a little more complex. It involves a Bishop or Cardinal who favors the immoral and amoral priests and suppresses and silences faithful ones to keep the matrix of power and catechesis in the hands of those who wave admiration, money and political power under his nose.

Changing the name we give to the scoundrels who persecute Church teaching to pursue this path doesn't cut it as a fix.

That is just smoke and mirrors.

Cronies are created by the exact flaw which Pope Francis appears to admire.

Little Monsters

One could devote the contents of an entire blog to keeping an eye on what the Pope is saying!

Today, we find Pope Francis explaining that priests can become little Frankensteins and this gives him the goose bumps.

Francis, who headed the Jesuits' novice training program in his native Argentina in the 1970s, also warned the superiors of some of the failings of seminary training, or "formation," such as when would-be priests merely "grit their teeth, try not to make mistakes, follow the rules smiling a lot, just waiting for the day when they are told 'Good, you have finished formation."

"This is hypocrisy that is the result of clericalism, which is one of the worst evils," Francis was quoted as saying, returning to the issue of clericalism — or a certain cronyism and careerism among the men of the cloth — that he has frequently criticized.

The training of priests, he said, must be a "work of art, not a police action."

"We must form their hearts. Otherwise we are creating little monsters. And then these little monsters mold the people of God. This really gives me goose bumps," he was quoted as saying....

"I am not speaking about people who recognize that they are sinners: we are all sinners, but we are all not corrupt," Francis said. "Sinners are accepted, but not people who are corrupt."

What is this gobblygook supposed to mean?

The entire matrix of the Jesuit religious order is corrupt and they are teaching said corruption to hundreds of thousands of souls in our schools, apostolates, magazines, newspapers and periodicals.

He could not possibly have missed the 350 elephants in the room with him.

Moreover, why would Pope Francis hand-pick a Cardinal to advise him on restructuring Rome whose own Chancery is one of the worst examples of cronyism in the 2000 year history of the Roman Catholic Church?

Are we to believe the Pope told the superiors of the Jesuits that the monster in the Church is the teaching and preaching of moral teachings?

During his homily, Francis told his fellow Jesuits to use mercy, not morality, when they preach.

Do I understand that he is telling religious superiors not to teach seminarians the moral teachings of the Church and to teach them not to teach it?

Monsters in the church of Pope Francis are priests who teach the substance of the Catechism. Those little monsters create monsters who teach the moral teachings of the Church to the people of God, inside of their parishes and homes.

Seminaries are places where the artwork of theological mistakes and errors are to flourish and are training camps for forming priests so they do not teach the substance of the Catechism.

See what he's getting at?

LOL.

I sure hope this is another misunderstanding.

A lot of us are developing a severe case of the goosebumps.

Here is more context.

A very balanced OpEd on the dangers of the confusing syntax and statements that have left the misunderstanding that Pope Francis has abandoned doctrine for love.

What the Pope meant to say.

At least we hope it is a misunderstanding.

LOL.

How does temptation manifest itself?

Excellent post HERE.

There is no way to distinguish temptations of demonic origin from those that come from within us. Demons tempt us by infusing thoughts in our minds. In other words, a demon introduces into our reason, memory, and imagination intellectual objects proper to our understanding that cannot be distinguished from our own thoughts, such as the image of a tree, a memory, or a word. But an angel can also produce such ideas and communicate them to our minds. This is why there is no way to distinguish what comes from us, an angel, a demon, or God directly.

The less you discipline your thoughts towards the angelic and divine, the more rope you give to the demons.

I thought about the demons yesterday when reading an old story circulated about "athiest" Rachel Maddow. She apparently revealed she suffers from existential emptiness and depression. She cut herself loose from God to run on her own power, journeyed into herself and found she is empty. She's been there since she was 12.

Are you you kidding me?

Every one of us follows the pied piper of thoughts that tell us we are more capable of judging right and wrong than God Himself. At least in some way.

But to wallow all alone in the misery of you for THAT long takes some constitution.

Get over yourself lady.

Practicing Catholics have it made. We stay as close as possible to His Living Body which writes His laws in a book for us. We have the Sacraments which reward our surrender and remorse when we fall off the wagon. We have access to Christ's Body and Blood with the properties of His Divinity for enlightenment and strength. The precious gift of His Mystical Body gives the demons very little rope to drag us away.

Still, disciplining thoughts requires the recognition that our intellect is not the only force introducing thoughts into our reason, memory and imagination. It requires attention to the devil's playground - our emotions. Emotions are the fuel for our actions - our happiness, our misery, our anger. You are what you think.

The discipline of this process doesn't just require the recognition of your own intellect, thoughts and emotions.

Just when you think you have a handle on that comes the hard part. Disciplining in the interactions and dramas of every person you love, meet, work with and in your work as an evangelist.

When you watch Pope Francis and understand he is going after the Rachel Maddows of this world, it is easy to cut him some slack.

I am on board using love to disarm the demons.

Mastering what one says and does and what one doesn't say and doesn't do cannot involve the treachery of luring the uncatechized into temptation and sin by making the deposit of faith an irrelevant tool for making judgments.

The whole system of pulling people out of their tailspin relies upon right judgment.

What is love?

Is love being jolly and affectionate around people?

If you don't love enough to give people right judgment, there's a whole lot more of love of self than for the object of your love. You're leaving them to die in their sins.

The outcome of loving people in that way we shall see in hell.

Which does exist and does have souls in it.

Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.
sayeth the Christ.

More clarity from Blessed John Newman:

"You will die in your sins."

We must consider the force of habit. Conscience at first warns us against sin; but if we disregard it, it soon ceases to upbraid us; and thus sins, once known, in time become secret sins. It seems then (and it is a startling reflection), that the more guilty we are, the less we know it; for the oftener we sin, the less we are distressed at it. I think many of us may, on reflection, recollect instances, in our experience of ourselves, of our gradually forgetting things to be wrong which once shocked us. Such is the force of habit. By it, (for instance) men contrive to allow themselves in various kinds of dishonesty. They bring themselves to affirm what is untrue, or what they are not sure is true, in their course of business. They overreach and cheat; and still more are they likely to fall into low and selfish ways without their observing it, and all the while to continue in their attendance on the Christian ordinances, and bear about them a form of religion. Or, again, they will live in self-indulgent habits; eat and drink more than is right; display a needless pomp and splendor in their domestic arrangements, without any misgiving; much less do they think of simplicity of manners and abstinence as Christian duties. Now we cannot suppose they always thought their present mode of living to be justifiable, for others are still struck with its impropriety; and what others now feel, doubtless they once felt themselves. But such is the force of habit. So again, to take as a third instance, the duty of stated private prayer; at first it is omitted with compuction, but soon with indifference. But is is not the less a sin because we do not feel it to be such. Habit has made it a secret sin.

To think of these things, and to be alarmed, is the first step towards acceptable obedience; to be at ease, is to be unsafe. We must know what the evil of sin is hereafter, if we do not learn it here. God give us all the grace to choose the pain of present repentance before the wrath to come!

ok...so?

Rorate has a post up about Pope Francis calling a group of nuns and leaving the following message on their phone:

"What are the nuns doing that they can't answer [the phone]? I am Pope Francis, I wish to greet you in this end of the year, I will see if I can call you later. May God bless you!"
ah?

Am I supposed to think this is disconcerting or odd?

The Pope makes his own phone calls and is playful with people.

Lighten up.

I absolutely love this about him.

If it is one thing I don't miss, it's the crackpot clerlicalism that turned a human being into a stilted and unreachable robot.

I don't miss that!

There is no substitute to the intellect for Sanctifying Grace

When reading things on Facebook, I am left speechless by the gullibility of Catholics.

I really enjoy satire and admit I've read a few satirical pieces on clown masses that I thought were real. Mainly because there were so many clowns ordained at St. John's Seminary here in Boston in the 70s and 80s, we've actually experienced the Liturgical antics described in satire!

But some of the stuff about poor Pope Francis passed around as real...oiy!

A reader sent me this article giving people hints on how to detect sarcasm.

For instance:

Keep an eye out for hyperbole, or exaggerated phrasing. Writers often overstate an opinion to reveal its logical or ethical flaws.

Surviving eleven years of blogging at TTC, I doubt readers here need instructions on that one.

And this one:

Think about the personality and typical writing style of the writer in question. If he or she normally writes dry, boring prose, a statement you think is sarcastic might actually be sincere. On the other hand, when reading crafty writers like Mark Twain or Oscar Wilde who are known for their wit, keep a constant vigil for outlandish or peculiar statements.

Reading the outlandish and peculiar things coming out of Chanceries and the Holy See these days, faithful Catholics are having a perfectly wonderful time. But this isn't it. Wit is a survival tool.

I get why some people aren't holding their breath refreshing their browser every few hours to see the next blunder we have to address in the public square. But if you know you're not keeping up with it and reading numerous sites to get to the bottom and full context of what he actually said, when you come across a story, wouldn't you google it to find out if what you're reading is accurate?

I read a post yesterday that was posted as an emergency and said a nuclear reactor was in meltdown - right this minute -- and to get indoors and cover your windows and vents if you live on the West Coast.

It's really getting nutty.

I'm holding onto my sanity with the Sacraments with the vigor of an obsessed addict.

Original Prayer to St. Michael

“O Glorious Prince of the heavenly host, St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in the battle and in the terrible warfare that we are waging against the principalities and powers, against the rulers of this world of darkness, against the evil spirits. Come to the aid of man, whom Almighty God created immortal, made in His own image and likeness, and redeemed at a great price from the tyranny of Satan.

“Fight this day the battle of the Lord, together with the holy angels, as already thou hast fought the leader of the proud angels, Lucifer, and his apostate host, who were powerless to resist thee, nor was there place for them any longer in Heaven. That cruel, ancient serpent, who is called the devil or Satan who seduces the whole world, was cast into the abyss with his angels. Behold, this primeval enemy and slayer of men has taken courage. Transformed into an angel of light, he wanders about with all the multitude of wicked spirits, invading the earth in order to blot out the name of God and of His Christ, to seize upon, slay and cast into eternal perdition souls destined for the crown of eternal glory. This wicked dragon pours out, as a most impure flood, the venom of his malice on men of depraved mind and corrupt heart, the spirit of lying, of impiety, of blasphemy, and the pestilent breath of impurity, and of every vice and iniquity.

“These most crafty enemies have filled and inebriated with gall and bitterness the Church, the spouse of the immaculate Lamb, and have laid impious hands on her most sacred possessions. In the Holy Place itself, where the See of Holy Peter and the Chair of Truth has been set up as the light of the world, they have raised the throne of their abominable impiety, with the iniquitous design that when the Pastor has been struck, the sheep may be.

“Arise then, O invincible Prince, bring help against the attacks of the lost spirits to the people of God, and give them the victory. They venerate thee as their protector and patron; in thee holy Church glories as her defense against the malicious power of hell; to thee has God entrusted the souls of men to be established in heavenly beatitude. Oh, pray to the God of peace that He may put Satan under our feet, so far conquered that he may no longer be able to hold men in captivity and harm the Church. Offer our prayers in the sight of the Most High, so that they may quickly find mercy in the sight of the Lord; and vanquishing the dragon, the ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, do thou again make him captive in the abyss, that he may no longer seduce the nations. Amen.

V. Behold the Cross of the Lord; be scattered ye hostile powers.
R. The Lion of the tribe of Judah has conquered the root of David.
V. Let Thy mercies be upon us, O Lord.
R. As we have hoped in Thee.
V. O Lord, hear my prayer.
R. And let my cry come unto Thee.

Let us pray.

O God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we call upon Thy holy Name, and as supplicants, we implore Thy clemency, that by the intercession of Mary, ever Virgin Immaculate and our Mother, and of the glorious St. Michael the Archangel, Thou wouldst deign to help us against Satan and all the other unclean spirits who wander about the world for the injury of the human race and the ruin of souls. Amen.”

Excellent timing.

How Catechesis Works in Catholic Schools, Parishes and Apostolates - the Oxygen of a Bishop

This article is a hoot.

The chicken has come home to roost: millionaires are finally cutting off the oxygen of the episcopal hierarchs - money.

Those of us concerned about the dissent and demoralization of Catholic children in our schools and parishes have been begging the bishops cash cows (those faithful to Church teaching of course) to cut off the money for over a decade.

Some of them have complied and told the bishops why and it has been very effective in putting fires out.

Catechesis is controlled by money, even under a faithful bishop if they are weak, in need of money or adulation for their low self-esteem.

These are the facts.

When the Catechism is taught or preached, powerful and rich politically-affiliated folks with agendas complain to Bishop so and so and priests and teachers - and consequently Church teaching are silenced.

It can be countered if faithful millionaires are willing to cut off the oxygen of a bishop.

You want to silence So and So?
No soup for you.
You going to withhold Church teaching?
No soup for you.
Let teachers and priests teach dissent and rob our children of their religion?
No soup for you.
Demoralize our children in Catholic schools?
No soup for you.
Give honors to Herod and Herodias?
No soup for you.

We have a hard time convincing faithful Catholic millionaires to withhold the money.

One has to be willing to put up with being called a no good so and so by your Bishop on his blog or newspaper or in the National Catholic Register. LOL.

That is a tough pill to swallow for the wealthy who are accustomed to sitting beside powerful people at swanky events.

Seriously, who wants to do such a thing?

It is a terrible choice to make.

But when it comes to the preservation of the faith for our children - we have a duty that goes waaaaay beyond making nice with Cardinal So and So or even Pope So and So.

In Boston, we made much progress until Cardinal O'Malley invited Jack Connors back into the seat of power to siphon money from the wallets Jack has the power to influence.

For those of you who do not know who Jack Connors is, he is Democratic party's carefully placed power broker within the Church. Here's an article worth reading to catch up.

Faithful Catholics had all but castrated his power in the Chancery in Boston.

Cardinal O'Malley, God bless him, in desperation for cash we assume, put him back in the seat of power. In exchange for money (and we are told there is very little of it from Jack himself when compared to what he raises for Obama), the structure of the Roman Catholic Church in Boston in terms of catechesis and power has been completely handed over to a group that is controlled by the political Democratic party.

The Cardinal's spokesperson is a Democratic political hack who contradicts Church teaching in the public square.

The Chancery is loaded to the rafters with Connors appointees.

The Cardinal, God bless him, is no longer involved in any decision-making of the local see. The structures in place are now all handled by lay people affiliated with the Democratic National Convention. Committees have replaced the Cardinal in the structure of the Archdiocese of Boston.

The Cardinal is removed from knowledge, removed from discussion, removed from any decisions about anything. His signature is forged and rubber stamped by the power structures put in place by the DNC.

It is as close to a government controlled and operated farcical and faux church as it gets. It is all controlled by the Democratic National Convention.

The fact that Cardinal O'Malley is advising the Pope on structure would scare the hair off of a charging rhinoserous.

It is a disaster.

Faithful priests are trying to find a refuge in religious orders and excardination.

If this is our future in the Holy See, we are in real trouble.

In any event, this article really has me going.

They are finally holding back on the money.

I hope it is not too late.

Dear Pope Francis

You want to silence So and So?
No soup for you.
You going to withhold Church teaching?
No soup for you.

No soup for you.
Demoralize our children in Catholic schools?
No soup for you.
Give honors to Herod and Herodias?
No soup for you.

We shall say all five mysteries of the Rosary for your spinal cord and intellect. That's 15 decades from the lunatics who count their prayers and offer them as a bouquet for those who can feel and understand the strength behind that revelation.

Good day to you Sir.
