Cardinal Kasper thinks 2000 years of Catholics who contradict him have not been listening to 'the spirit'

This interview is so loaded wih Kasper's agenda to use the synod to jackhammer 2000 years of theology, one hardly knows where to begin.

At this point, I'm going to guess those holding on to the delusion Pope Francis is not the wind beneath Kasper's wings are suffering from a bad case of willful ignorance.

I would urge you to take the time to stomach the whole article but let me give you Kasper's major talking points.

Kasper explains the 2000 years of theologians before him and Pope Francis have misunderstood what mercy is all about.

It's all been a big misunderstanding.

Mercy isn't cheap grace that takes away the commandments.

No, no, no - that would be absurd.

It's all about twisting the interpretation up into a pretzel. Why Thomas Aquinas taught us that!

Doctrine won't change. They're going to instruct everyone to stop using doctrine as the source to measure the discipline of our conduct.

Got that?

When you read doctrine that prohibits a certain conduct, that is the time to stop disciplining youself.

We must read the sign of the times. He and Pope Francis can't imagine the majority of the synod will go against the crystal ball of the current Pope.

This is what you call living "the reality of the senses" of polygamists.

You see, the understanding of the Gospel lives in the souls of people who reject the museum of Church teaching.

The Joy of the Gospel comes from your needs, not the code of doctrines and commandments.

So if you need your neighbor's car, forget about doctrines and commandments about stealing.

If you need a booty call, do not use the discernment of the code of doctrines and commandmets.

Why not use Kieran Conroy to show the Pope's see of Bishops how to execute the strategy?

Cardinal Kasper goes on to explain that the Romans have "fears" about the Pope's idioms and concrete moral construction in the new Evangelii Gaudium.

We're a paranoid bunch.

I'll tell you what Carol "needs" for Evangelii Gaudium. She needs to stay further away from these people than people exhibiting symptoms of Ebola.

Take the time to read the whole interview. It is surreal.

I'll say it again...This is going to get ugly!

Remarkable

This post written by Robert Royal at The Catholic Thing really demonstrates the level of trust that has been eroded by 'the Francis effect'.

No matter how bad things were through my twenty years of trying to preserve the faith for my children, even if you could get veteran Catholic journalists to privately agree Bishop so and so was a train wreck, they would never agree to expose a situation for what it was.

I used to refer to them as the armchair Catholics.

In reading Royals thesis, at first it seems like he doesn't get the gravity of the Pope's theological war, but there is no mistaking that he smells something and it's a smelly smell.

Perhaps even more surprising, we’re hearing from some sources that though Cardinal Bergoglio came into the Vatican with no firm agenda, the hope now is that he may be able to re-ignite the “Spirit of Vatican II,” which he had known as a young priest in Argentina.

Like much else in the past year and a half in the Church, it’s hard to say what any of this means. To take only the last item, there’s nothing wrong with the Spirit of Vatican II – if what we mean is the Holy Spirit, present since Pentecost in preserving the Church in living unity with God in charity. But if, as some hope, that Spirit is some radically progressive current, what can only be called a spirit of division and hubris that thought itself superior to the whole prior history of the Church – a kind of uber-Protestantism that paradoxically insisted it was being more Catholic than the pope – then we are in for some troubled days indeed.

It turns out Joan Chittister's shtick might qualify for being more Catholic than the Pope.

Royal refers to another well-written piece that gets to the heart of the serious problem with this pontificate.

I’ll get to specifics shortly. But I want to point out – hoping that I’m wrong – something I fear has already begun.

After Vatican II the Church went through decades of turmoil because of “the Spirit of Vatican II,” a spirit that contradicted the Conciliar documents and much of Christian history. But that didn’t matter. That wayward “spirit” carried all before it.

We are, I believe, close to what may become a Spirit of Bergoglio, another period of confusion based, once again, not on the pope’s actual words, but in the unbalanced emotions to which certain, casual expressions of his have given rise.

Another keen observation, the things the Pope doesn't say are as bad as the things he does:

Sandro Magister, the steady Vatican observer, claims there are now ten Cardinals who have publicly opposed the “Kasper/Bergoglio position.” The opposition is clear. But can we say the pope backs the highly controversial proposals Kasper put forward, even though the pope praised him for what he termed his “theology done on one’s knees”?

After years of observing the Vatican, I can’t say – and that’s perhaps most worrisome of all. If there’s going to be a development in pastoral practice on such a heated question as divorced and remarried Catholics, we need a clear statement from the pope himself. Perhaps he wishes to let the debate proceed before rendering judgment. But in the meantime, his efforts to reduce confrontation with the culture and proclaim God’s forgiveness to those “on the periphery” seem to have led to open division – within the Church.

How's that for refreshing honesty.

The lines in the sand are drawn and we are openly dividing.

The division has been there for 50 years.

Maybe Pope Francis thought we'd sacrifice the salvation of our children to keep the peace. If so, it was a gross miscalculation.

This is going to get ugly.

All I care about in my little area of influence is keeping people on the Ark as it plays itself out.

This too shall pass.

Lydia, Oh Lydia the tattooed Catholic Encyclopydia

Eddie Siebert from the Society of Jesus (surprise) is shilling for women to flush the Catechism down the toilet and instead base judgments upon the thoughts in their own brain and desires and go to the tattoo parlor and get some tramp stamps on your skin....

...
..A testament to James Joyce's description of Catholic meaning "Here comes everybody," she's a fervent feminist (she cites Benedictine Sr. Joan Chittister's question, "How can you be Catholic and not be a feminist?")

Come on, I know you're as dying as I am to see Joan Chittister's tatts. (Something tells me I don't think we're talking a rosebud.)

I could be mistaken, but the Jesuit author seems to be using Pope Francis to discredit the Catechism and pass out licenses for tattoos to women.

See what you think.

Here he is talking about haughty paranoid Catholics like us who 'tend' to conclude the poor women following the advice of Jesuits are, you know... uncatechized:

Anyway, I can't really blame the nones who feel a bit of paranoia. There's that popular perception out there about some Catholics. (Not you; you're fine.) I'm talking about the haughty us-vs.-them Catholics, the ones who tend to treat nones (often the ones they love) as ill-informed and inferior (as if that will help).

Way to go Father, feed right into their inferiority complexes!

Here he is trying to hoodwink poor ill-informed and misinformed sadsacks into getting a tattoo by alleging following a desire to mark your body with a tramp stamp is the respect for dissent Pope Francis talked about on the infamous impromptu interview on the plane - a gift that keeps on giving:

Not reported as often are the many stories of Catholics who respect the consciences of nonbelievers. Remember how shocked the world was when Pope Francis openly did this at his first press briefing to the assembled group of journalists? Then there was his public letter in La Repubblica where he insisted God's mercy "does not have limits" and reaches nonbelievers, too, for whom sin would not be the lack of faith in God, but rather, failure to obey one's conscience.

That's right, says the Jesuit, Pope Francis was trying to tell women their consciences are giving out commands and one should not fail to obey your conscience when the Jesuits plant seeds to sleep around and get yourself a sleeve of tatts.

I mean really, when you think about it, I don't care what the Friars of the Immaculate or the Bishop in Paraguay did -- it could not possibly rise anywhere near the level of evil the Society of Jesus has foisted upon generations of Catholics.

As the Friars are being jack hammered, Pope Francis recently referred to the Jesuits as brave and expert rowers and instructed them to "Get in the boat and row".

After all the dung the Jesuits have taught, after all they have done to lead so many to the devil, the Pope refers to them as brave experts in theology.

This priest and the order of the Society of Jesus who is discrediting the Catechism all over the world, are the teachers who Pope Francis is telling to row and giving out the oars.

Fr. Siebert is rowing all right. He's saying as a priest, instead of informing the misinformed, teaching and converting, he's spent his life encouraging the people around them to listen to the voices inside of their heads commanding to contradict the Catechism.

Fr. Siebert says it is sinful not to sleep around and get tatts when you have the urges. He does not, he says, pass out Catholic koolaid:

Occasionally, when my holy orders are revealed in conversation with nones I'm meeting, I'll notice a flash of panic in their eyes, as though I might start to force-feed them the Catholic Kool-Aid.

Do you believe it?

Fr. Siebert thinks Catholic teaching is "koolaid" - a reference to the poison that Jim Jones handed out to kill his followers.

For whatever reason, Pope Francis doesn't seem to get what It is we all are going to 'unify' to, what action is divisive and who needs to be removed with his authority.

In the most powerful time in the history of Christ's Church, he is appointing the Sieberts to calibrate his talking points and give us instructions from his two years of nuanced and misleading statements.

That boat is going to set sail. By the Christ I will be on it, way down in the bowels of the ship where the oars go into the water.

Taking Fr. Siebert et al oars right out of their hands.

You'll recognize us. We'll be the ones without the tatts!

Dear Father, bishops and priests imposing heresy and perdition to souls do not get along with me...

Dear Father,

After thirty-something years of explaining to my children the reasons why we, as Catholics, do not accept the worldly advice and condoms being passed out at school - and that advice being discredited at our local parish, Catholic schools and in the public square by the wolves in sheeps clothing--and our children now being advised by the Pope not to make judgments about whether sleeping with schoolmates is sinful and their foregone conclusion being the pope says just go ahead and do it -- with the removal of a bishop for not going along to get along with people who teach this nightmare of an agenda to the people we love, it occurs to me that the Pope's public display of removal for not getting along with it, the Pope has fired a shot across our bow.

Seems now as clear as the nose on my face: Pope Francis appoints people to teach heresy and removes people who raise objections to the people they love being misled into error.

Am I understanding the message behind the philosophical beheadings for not going along with the spiritual homicides?

I suppose, what's a Pope to do when the devil dragging his children into mass spiritual homicides but to silence Church teaching, conflate, confound and dishonor it and when the prophets rise kill them to give witness that if we all don't go along with the strategy, he will remove and exile?

Getting along with prelates who destroy our children's souls is more important than the souls themselves in this pontificate.

What's a Catholic mother to do but sit back and watch him do it?

Having the bishops like you is, after all, much more important than ensuring the teaching of substance in the Catechism to our children.

Whaaaah. I want the bishops to like me!

Oh wait.

ps: Pope Francis held a Liturgy today to 'honor' grandparents.

Please. Do not spit on us and tell us it's raining.

If the Pope wishes to 'honor' us, let him release his captivity of the teachings of our Church so that the people we love may have them to guide their conscience.
e
If he wishes to 'honor' us, he needs to stand in the public square and tell our children and grandchildren what judgments to make about Church teaching.

He needs to stop appointing people who apostasize and he needs to stop demonizing, demoting, removing and deconstructing priests and apostolates that teach the practice of our religion.

He needs to zip his lips when his brain tells his tongue to pigeonhole the faithful practice of Catholicism and Sacredness of our Liturgy as the prosletizing of ancient history that is plaguing Christ's Church.

Cease and desist the manifestation of the image he's come along to save Christ's people from the 2000 years of Church teaching that alienates them from the Sacraments and salvation.

Go out onto the piazza, open his arms and say something that gets published in every newspaper in the world to let every prelate, every bishop, every adult and child know that Pope Francis is telling them what their grandparents have been teaching them from the Catechism of the Catholic Church on how to respond to temptations are indeed judgments that must be made to gain entry into Heaven.

Tell them, and in no uncertain terms, that giving to the poor is a duty but does not mitigate adultery. Tell them what constitutes adultery and the only thing that can restore us to the road of salvation is the Sacrament of Confession. Tell them work to help the unemployed and the climate and lonely people does absolutely nothing to restore a soul to a state of Sanctifying Grace.

That is how a Pope 'honors' grandparents.

Pope Francis reportedly refuses audience to Bishop Rogelio Livieres Plano

"The real problem of the Church in Paraguay is the crisis of faith, life and morality, which was further supported and extended by poor training of clergy, together with the laxity of the shepherds," wrote Bishop Livieres to Cardinal Ouellet.

If this report is true, I'm here to remind you that this is a man who not only agreed to grant audience to two of history's most notorious collaborators of the execution of unborn children and Christians all over the world, he agreed to stand beside them for a photo op.

This is a man who stood on a plane and told journalists seeking clarification about the teachings of the Church as they pertain to the sexual activity among homosexuals and his response was, who is a Roman Pontiff to make a judgment about Church teachings as they pertain to the Sixth Commandment of God.

I could go on and on.

There is more than ample evidence to demonstrate what Pope Francis message is about Church teaching - he has silenced it and is persecuting and removing those who try to teach it, and filling that void with statements that lead people to commit sin.

I am sorry to say it.

The failures to articulate what we all know is happening before our very eyes only sends a message that our intention is to go along with this charade and destruction through silence.

Decades ago, I read a story of a Jewish man standing before a pit filled with bodies with his executioners whose last words were - I see what you are doing and God sees it too.

No way should any person or persons who knows what is happening sit in silence as the persecution we have all experienced in our chanceries, schools, apostolates - is rolled out from the Chair of Peter.

Are you actually going to sit quietly as you watch these men be persecuted through the Pope's hand?

What kind of service is this to Christ and His Church? His people? Our relatives, friends, people we love?

I'm also here to remind you that if you don't think public exposure of what we are all saying behind closed doors is effective, one should sit before the Blessed Sacrament and think about the big ole long pause after the announcement of the Pope's intention to remove Cardinal Burke. While you're there, meditate upon the past twenty years of the effectiveness of publicly exposing error.

This blogger has not come this far working to preserve the deposit of faith for my family to sit in silence while a Pope takes a hammer to it - or all of us.

The Gates of Hell

I really love how this priest expresses his faith, his experiences, his observations.

Joan told me she was planning to go to Oklahoma City on September 21, to be at the site of the Black Mass. She wanted to be there to be with Jesus at the foot of Calvary. She told me she didn't want Him to be alone. When I saw the pictures of this brave woman, so passionately in love with Jesus Christ, I couldn't restrain my tears, as I knew that her efforts were not for human success or glory, but rather to console the Heart of Jesus, so bitterly offended.

What a splendid woman Joan is. She has inspired others by her contagious faith -- the great Linda Gibbons of Toronto, and Mary Wagner of Vancouver. In our day we have a shortage of great and holy souls like Padre Pio and Mother Teresa. But there are little souls being forged in the furnace of the Sacred Heart. They are not celebrated by the world; in fact, they are despised and rejected. But they are the victim-souls of our day, carrying the Cross with Jesus to the peak of Calvary.

May we all be infected with the divine madness of love that lives in the hearts of these little ones.

Made me cry just reading it.

By the way, Catholic Familyland is a spectacular place to bring your family once a year to meet and be with other families who are practicing our religion with fervor. It's a long boring drive from the East Coast but so worth it. No other place like it. Check it out.

They usually sell out. Hundreds of families rocking the place with zeal for the House of Our Lord and His Magisterium.

Nobody can ever take it away from us. No vanities, no clapping fornication parade, no bishop or Cardinal or even Pope obstructing and silencing Church teaching could touch that fire. It is too hot. It's fuel is Sanctifying Grace.

The enemies of Church teaching have absolutely no idea what they are up against.

They are positively clueless.

We're the people who go to prison and talk up the truth until you have to kill us to shut us up.

They're going to teach our children our religion or it is going to get mighty ugly from the rectory in St. Patrick's Cathedral to the Chair of Peter.

Pathetic Theology Needs Alpha Men

Fr. Nicholson is quite a gift to God and His Church.

It doesn't get any better than that!

Cardinal Burke Suggests Media Undermining Synod

Our beloved Cardinal Burke has suggested the media has a rumor mill churning and is fueling expectations that impossible changes will be made to Church teaching.

And then Cardinal Burke said: What elephants?

Oh come on!

It is Cardinal Kasper who is running the rumor mill and fueling expectations that the Pope is going to make impossible changes to Church teaching.

Pope Francis isn't helping.

Don't they remember what happened at "Vatican II"?

A couple of handfuls of clowns took talking points out of context and completely destroyed Catechesis and the Liturgy in every classroom and parish in the United States.

Saying it's impossible is really naive.

It doesn't have to change doctrinally to do it's damage where it matters the most.

The Holy Father has Cardinal Kasper out saying irresponsible statements on his behalf for close to a year now and when the synod happens, he's going to use the opportunity to do what this crowd has been waiting to do since they were singing Puff the Magic Dragon with Peter Paul and Mary.

It very much is going to happen and our children and children's children will be drinking the poison from Pope Francis synod long after he is dead and buried under St. Peter's Square.

Cardinal Burke stated:

“That’s why it’s very important for those who are in charge to be very clear,” he said
.

God bless and protect him and the others for writing a crystal clear book on Church teaching on the family.

But after a year and a half of Pope Francis and the people he appoints to get his talking points across, I do not believe he is capable of being very clear, even if that were his intention.

In the 57 years of being a Catholic, I never observed or heard anyone who could muddy up Church teaching better than Pope Francis.

Color me a pessimist. I think the synod is going to be a train wreck.

I hope he proves me wrong!

He is not Spartacus?

A high-level mole has written a behind-the-scenes story about the appointment of apostate Bp. Cupich to the Chicago see.

The mole claims the US Nuncio was one of the forces behind the appointment.

I'm surprised (sort of) to hear Ab. Viganò is sleeping with the enemy. Wasn't he a key player in the disclosure of highly-sensitive documents outlining the sexcapades and money laundering going on in the Curia? Wasn't he later exiled in retaliation when the internal mafioso recovered enough to crawl out out from the sink hole and blackmail somebody who had the power to exile him?

I thought the US Nuncio was a good egg.

This is a strange turn of events.

It might actually explain a few things.

Over the course of my 20 years of work trying to get Catechesis released from imprisonment, the US Nuncio has periodically been a player who responded to some of the more serious dust ups.

I've never liked the games nuncio's play and they all play them. Some more than others. They pretend appropriate protocol for communication to them is, they don't acknowledge your communication. They have a nun answering phones who assures you it's been read by him and may or may not be acted upon and politely tells you to have a nice life before she hangs up the phone.

This is the way it is they'll tell you, Arrivederci.

I think I've sent one or two followup communications about the communications that outlines, as politely as possible:

You've got some gall brother. Get over yourself and institute some kind of system of oversight and accountability for the serious matters people bring to you. Hasn't the hierarchy learned that we need a structure for reporting corruption and responding to it? Holding people accountable? Removing them if necessary?

Usually, the party knows the more serious stuff gets acted upon because the speeding cuckoo train comes to a screeching halt. It wasn't happening with Ab Viganò, which I found to be interesting.

I never drew the conclusion it was necessarily him. Sometimes, the corruption is so bad and things are so far out of control, they defy orders of superiors. That has been happening periodically for about five years in Boston - manifesting itself in certain matters. I figured the Holy See had lost complete control and had bigger fish to fry.

Why would he want to put a fox in the henhouse?

Has he been on the other side all along?

Am I scratching this guy off the scorecard?

A commenter wrote earlier, with a tiny bit of guilt, that they found all the selling out entertaining.

I don't know about that! I didn't think the crowd would be this thin.

I keep hoping Don Bosco's vision was accurate and eventually the cowards come around.

Fr. Nicolson has an outstanding post on staying the course, HERE. Do take the time to read it.

But these are troubled times, and I do not mean to minimize the anxiety and feelings of helplessness that many people feel.

We went on to discuss the coming Synod. Again, I probed with cold determination on what the Canon might offer. He, again, with elegant ease, reminded me of the historical events surrounding the definition of the dogma of Infallibility, and many other events in which the Church seemed to be caught between two, three or even more, camps. He suggested that this kind of tension, while undesirable, allows the Holy Ghost to strike the most perfect balance in the pronouncements and definitions of the Faith.

It were as if God uses the chaos to create and clarify.

I keep praying - We get the message. You can stop now!

(This post of Fr. Nicholson's is kind of fun too.)

As Rod Steward once said, every picture tells a story don't it.

Pope Francis hand-picked moral theologian on family suggests Pope will push birth control

When is this circus of a synod anyhow?

Remember the fifty years of urban legends and kooky theology that delusional people swore were approved at Vatican II that wound up in Catholic educational resources?

Yeah. I think the Pope Francis synod will make that look like content from the Remnant.

Cardinal Kasper recently spoke about the Pope's agenda on contraception.

Parents need to make decisions on how many children they should have, not the Church.

Here is something we can believe: He doesn't know what the solution is to close the "gulf" between Church teaching and disobedience to it.

I am sure he is clueless about the remedy of teaching substance that awakens the conscience and drives people to the Sacrament of Confession and Sacramental Grace in the Eucharist. He hasn't used that gulf closer since the nuns threw on their first pair of polyester pants.

He also articulated mutual decisions to refrain from relations when a woman is ovulating is "artificial", implying its the same thing as using abortifacient of birth control pills.

A madman has been put in charge of the synod.

Maybe we should hire Frs Paul Nicholson and George Rutler and hole up with them for a ten day retreat until its over?!

Scalia and Patheos- the "Pope Francis Effect"

I fell to temptation and read the comboxes on her attack of Cardinal Burke. So many of you have written to say her arrogance and noxious behavior worsened after the Romans poured gasoline on her fires of destruction of catechesis. I didn't think it was possible to reach a higher level of arrogance and obnoxious and I just had to see for myself.

She really has it going on but that is the way I always remember her.

I hadn't been to her snake pit since she wrote the piece titled "Ted Kennedy Crucible". When Catholics work to diminish the efficacy of the devil who has one of our own using his talent to slay children and the souls if their mothers, Lizzy rushes to defend sin and confirm them in it. Leading a soul to the Sacraments is a crucible to her. Shea and the other daffy dame work a trilogy.

When women are being hoodwinked into surrendering their incredible gift of human sexuality to a repository for sperm for men who do not respect or love them enough to care about their salvation, let alone marry them, take pills to chemically sterilize themselves or kill their own children, there is nothing like the "social justice" of Winkin, Blinkin, and Nod.

They are like people who let friends drive home drunk and attack friends who say what is necessary to stop them and then claim that is what nice is, convincing themselves they are doing service to God.

She must be a charmer as a friend, eh? When you are doing something stupid and self destructive, Lizzie stands on her front porch to wave goodbye, hand you a bright balloon and blow kisses.

I keep wondering how low EWTN will let them go before they cut them loose but her venom directed at Cardinal Burke speaks volumes about the state of affairs at that place. Mother Angelica may be incapacitated now, but when that holy, brave woman dies, she will storm from Heaven and knock them down and out of her apostolate like a lucky strike at the bowling alley.

I don't know how anyone could stand reading any of it. It is repulsive.

I've spoken of "the Pope Francis effect" in an off-the-cuff manner, but in all seriousness, we need to face the truth. Catholics who have been begging for Catechesis are in for a pontificate that is going to arm the enemies of teaching the Deposit of Faith. Pope Francis is arming them with tools to carry out their attacks with brutality and force. They will do it on the Internet and in every apostolate in every parish and school in every diocese.

And they are wearing the coat of arms of a Catholic Pope.

It is as clear as the nose on your face that Catholics who want and need effective teaching of the substance of the Catechism are the enemies of Pope Francis and his "effect", and we will be targets for removal and the tactics of King David to set you up to be killed. Please keep Fr Wylie in your prayers.

The situation is as bad as it gets. Good times are ahead.

Lizzie is the manifestation of the "Pope Francis effect" and it is as critical as ever for responsible Catholic evangelists to express what we know is happening before our eyes and how to keep your hand on the plow.

There is enough substance taught over the last thirty years to be effective in your parish, even when approached with Lizzies and Sheas carrying wearing the coat of arms of Pope Francis.

Grab something and hold onto it, preserve it.

With one very important caveat: if you have children under the age of 18 and a parish or school is not teaching the substance if the Catechism or is teaching error, get out. Find another place to worship where the faith is being taught to your children. This is not the time for you to do anything but see to it that your own are formed with tools they need to make the right judgments. There are priests excersising Moto Proprio in every diocese. If there is nothing left where you are, pack it up and drive there.

That is our job until the smoke rises again in Vatican City.

And of course prayer, Adoration and using every morsel of good fruit that can and will come from Pope to draw and convert--and our sense of humor.

Elizabeth Scalia directs her vicious smarm to Cardinal Burke

I refuse to link to her rotten website or repeat the content of that vile woman's post.

Pope Francis really knows how to pull the family together and sow his seeds. Scalia is a regular Pope Francis blossom.

Below are comments about Scalia's malicious shtick from Fr. Nicholson who says it better than I ever could and with more charity than I can muster for the stink that emanates from her and "Patheos":

What a vicious, smarmy attack on the spotless integrity of Cardinal Burke. She breathlessly recently defended the sordid decisions of one prelate ... because it complemented her world view.

Now she mocks this great man, by suggesting it will do him good to work with the poor migrants in Malta.

All because he has done more than most in preserving the patrimony of the Faith.

Shame on her.

I am sick to death of Patheos.

I am sick and tired of such illuminators of other people's consciences.

I am sure in her own way, she rivals any Missionary of Charity by her outreach.

She is divisive; a divider.

Why would anyone read this woman's expulsions? Because like someone with bad breath, it is impossible to avoid it.

Spare a prayer for such a divisive individual. May her idle words be forgiven her.

Cardinal Dolan's 'Splainin - Grab Your Banner and Join the Parade

He's got to be kidding.

Is he implying that wearing a sign about pride in temptations in sexual attractions outside of the sacrament of marriage does not fatally wound grand marshalling the parade?

Let's take a look at crack pipe he's passing out as Catholic teaching:

He starts off with a piece of sound theology:

So, while actions are immoral, identity is not!

This is true. Sort of.

One can acknowledge the temptations they have and/or the falls in the past and identify with a classification of that struggle.

One can have the honesty to identify himself as being attracted to pornography, masturbation, habitual wife/husband cheater, polygamy, booze, drugs.

The rightly-ordered purpose for such recognition is to keep the constant vigil over what leads oneself (or others) into falling to the temptation.

When one puts a sign on oneself about taking pride in their temptation, the recognition of identity is being used to promote taking actions on those temptations.

If Cardinal Dolan wants to have a parade with the group COURAGE to clarify to those watching the parade that those wearing signs of identity to their personal sexual temptations are practicing the virtue of celibacy - he can knock himself out.

But that is not what is going on here and he knows it. His intellectual dishonesty astounds me.

He goes on to say:

In fact, as the Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us, people with same-sex attraction are God’s children, deserving dignity and respect, never to be treated with discrimination or injustice.

Absolutely true.

Priests who are attracted to breaking their vow of celibacy are also God's children, deserving of dignity and respect and should never be treated with discrimination or injustice.

If a movement starts happening in the USCCB to take pride in it and Cardinal Dolan leads a parade, every lucid person who is watching it knows the implicit message about what actions he is condoning.

In fact, as the Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us, people with same-sex attraction, friends with benefits, pornography, masturbation, habitual wife/husband cheater, breaking your vow of celibacy in the Sacrament of Ordination, polygamy, booze, drugs are God’s children, deserving dignity and respect, never to be treated with discrimination or injustice.

Grab your banner. The Pope Francis effect parades are commencing.

I hope they have the decency to make their symbol the golden calf.

Some of us will be skipping the celebration at the base of Mt. Sinai. We'll be sitting in front of the Sanctuary. We'll be right there in every parish and ministry, in every diocese, reminding you of the truth. When it's all over and the smoke rises once again out of Vatican City, we'll emerge from the cavern to assess the damage and start again.

Sandro Magister is reporting Pope Francis will exile Cardinal Burke

This ought to really liven things up in the Pope Francis "go out and make a mess" department.

What a lightening rod.

Did you ever think you'd live to see the day when the Pope splinters the Church and he's off to the races building his administration with infidels?

Sources confirmed to LifeSite News that Cardinal Burke has been exiled and further states if it happens before the Synod, he won't be able to attend.

What do you make of this curious story about the Synod "co-president"

You don't suppose they'll all marry each other at the synod, do you?

Cardinal Burke's removal was a tough one for our friends at Church Militant who has asked for prayers for the Church, our Pope and Cardinal Burke.

This is a very unusual step - a group of Cardinals has issued a public warning to the Pope about the misuse of his authority to confound and confuse Catholics on the prohibition on Communion for Catholics with two wives or husbands.

This really throws a wet blanket on Cardinal Kasper.

Pope Francis is reportedly irritated.

As Patrick Madrid eloquently stated - lines are being drawn in the sand.

Or, as Carol not so eloquently states - this is really getting ugly.

Is this the reason why MaryAnn Glendon was shilling for "Crux"?

Her son in law is writing for them?

Several sources told TTC that Cardinal O'Malley's "kickoff" event included telling Margery Eagan he was hoping her departure from the Boston Herald meant she was coming to work for the Pilot. He was making a joke implying how inappropriate it would be in light of the contempt for Church teaching she promotes among his flock.

I'm not laughing.

Fr. Wylie sent to wiles of South Africa War Zone

Our friend Matt Abbot reports on the disturbing developments and another disturbing development on a priest in New York, working for Archbishop Sheen's Center for Art and Culture.

Fr. Wylie seems to have fallen into the maelstrom of the old King David trick - Send Uriah to the front.

Astounding.

Details on Fr. Hall haven't come out of the woodwork - which is very strange. Usually, a priest has a prayer group or a group of priests or lay people who knows more details and will speak out about a persecution -- as they are frustrated about the loss of their priest.

Five Prayers from Fr. Amorth to Combat Evil

1. Prayer Against Malefice from the Greek Ritual

Kyrie eleison. God, our Lord, King of ages, All-powerful and All-mighty, You Who made everything and Who transform everything simply by Your will. You Who in Babylon changed into dew the flames of the ‘seven-times hotter’ furnace and protected and saved the three holy children. You are the doctor and the physician of our soul. You are the salvation of those who turn to You. We beseech You to make powerless, banish, and drive out every diabolic power, presence, and machination; every evil influence, malefice, or evil eye and all evil actions aimed against Your servant [name of person/s]. Where there is envy and malice, give us an abundance of goodness, endurance, victory, and charity. O Lord, You Who love man, we beg You to reach out Your powerful hands and Your most high and mighty arms and send the angel of peace over us, to protect us, body and soul. May he keep at bay and vanquish every evil power, every poison or malice invoked against us by corrupt and envious people. Then, under the protection of Your authority may we sing, in gratitude, ‘The Lord is my salvation; whom should I fear? I will not fear evil because You are with me, my God, my strength, my powerful Lord, Lord of peace, Father of all ages.”

Yes, Lord our God, be merciful to us, Your image, and save your servant [name of person/s] from every threat or harm from the evil one, and protect him/her by raising him/her above all evil. We ask You this through the intercession of our Most Blessed, glorious Lady, Mary ever Virgin, Mother of God, of the most splendid archangels and all Your saints. Amen!

2. Anima Christi

Soul of Christ, sanctify me; Body of Christ, save me; Blood of Christ, inebriate me; Water from the side of Christ, wash me; Passion of Christ, strengthen me; O good Jesus, hear me; within Thy wounds, hide me; let me never be separated from Thee; from the evil one, deliver me; at the hour of my death, call me and bid me come to Thee, that with Thy saints, I may praise Thee forever and ever. Amen.

3. Prayer Against Every Evil

Spirit of our God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Most Holy Trinity, Immaculate Virgin Mary, angels, archangels, and saints of heaven, descend upon me. Please purify me, Lord, mold me, fill me with yourself, use me.

Banish all the forces of evil from me, destroy them, vanish them, so that I can be healthy and do good deeds.

Banish from me all spells, witchcraft, black magic, malefice, ties, maledictions, and the evil eye; diabolic infestations, oppressions, possessions; all that is evil and sinful, jealously, perfidy, envy; physical, psychological, moral, spiritual, diabolical aliments.

Burn all these evils in hell, that they may never again touch me or any other creature in the entire world.

I command and bid all the power who molest me – by the power of God all powerful, in the name of Jesus Christ our Savior, through the intercession of the Immaculate Virgin Mary – to leave me forever, and to be consigned into the everlasting hell, where they will be bound by Saint Michael the archangel, Saint Gabriel, Saint Raphael, our guardian angels, and where they will be crushed under the heel of the Immaculate Virgin Mary. Amen.

4. Prayer for Inner Healing

Lord Jesus, You came to heal our wounded and troubled hearts. I beg You to heal the torments that cause anxiety in my heart; I beg You, in a particular way, to heal all who are the cause of sin. I beg You to come into my life and heal me of the psychological harms that struck me in my early years and from the injuries that they caused through my life.

Lord Jesus, You know my burdens. I lay them all on Your Good Shepherd’s Heart. I beseech You – by the merits of the great, open wound in Your heart-to heal the small wounds that are in mine. Heal the pain of my memories, so that nothing that has happened to me will cause me to remain in pain and anguish, filled with anxiety.

Heal, O Lord, all those wounds that have been the cause of all the evil that is rooted in my life. I want to forgive all those who have offended me. Look to those inner sores that make me unable to forgive. You Who came to forgive the afflicted of heart, please, heal my own heart.

Heal, my Lord Jesus, those intimate wounds that cause me physical illness. I offer You my heart. Accept it, Lord, purify it and give me the sentiments of Your Divine Heart. Help me to be meek and humble.

Heal me, O Lord, from the pain caused by the death of my loved ones, which is oppressing me. Grant me to regain peace and joy in the knowledge that You are the Resurrection and the Life. Make me an authentic witness to Your Resurrection, Your victory over sin and death, Your living presence among us. Amen.

5. Prayer for Deliverance

My Lord, you are all powerful, you are God, you are Father. We beg you through the intercession and help of the archangels Michael, Raphael and Gabriel, for the deliverance of our brothers and sisters who are enslaved by the evil one. All saints of Heaven, come to our aid.

From anxiety, sadness and obsessions, we beg You. Free us, O Lord.
From hatred, fornication, envy, we beg You, Free us, O Lord.
From thoughts of jealousy, rage, and death, we beg You, Free us, O Lord.
From every thought of suicide and abortion, we beg You, Free us, O Lord.
From every form of sinful sexuality, we beg You, Free us, O Lord.
From every division in our family, and every harmful friendship, we beg You, Free us, O Lord.
From every sort of spell, malefic, witchcraft, and every form of the occult, we beg You,
Free us, O Lord.

Lord, You Who said, “I leave you peace, My peace I give you,” grant that, through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, we may be liberated from every evil spell and enjoy your peace always. In the name of Christ, our Lord. Amen.

***

Please remember the best defense against evil is a well-ordered and holy soul. Regular confession and reception of the Holy Eucharist is a person’s greatest refuge. Also remember these prayers for deliverance should be coupled with Our Lord’s Prayer and the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel.

Fr. Rutler on the Martyrdom of Christians

FROM THE PASTOR
September 14, 2014
by Fr. George W. Rutler

I do not like most jargon, as it diminishes the creative power of the noble English language rightly used. For instance, I do not like to be told by bureaucratic sorts to “prioritize.” (Apparently, the first recorded instance of its use was in the 1972 presidential campaign.) As with all things, Christ the Living Word put it better when he said, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33). God and his promise of eternal life should have priority over every other desire or concern.

Recently, many television viewers complained about a news bulletin covering the beheading of the journalist and devout Catholic, James Foley. Their objection was not to the horror of the news, but that it had interrupted the broadcast of a soap opera. We are learning quickly that people with that defective kind of priority will soon find out the hard way that life is not a soap opera. We are now engaged in a war, whether or not some politicians hesitate to call it that, and it must have priority over all other interests. The war is being fought by enemies of God, deluded by the conceit that they are fighting for God.

This is so hard for an indulged and selfish culture to accept, inasmuch as it means acknowledging that good and evil exist, though many would prefer to ignore the latter. Christians are being martyred in the Middle East, and public officials still find it hard to mention that those who are being crucified, beheaded, and driven from their homes are suffering because they are Christians.

The auxiliary bishop of Baghdad, Shlemon Warduni, said on Vatican radio: “We have to ask the world: Why are you silent? Why do not you speak out? Do human rights exist, or not? And if they exist, where are they? There are many, many cases that should arouse the conscience of the whole world: Where is Europe? Where is America?” The genocide of Christians, who have been in Iraq since shortly after the Resurrection, does not seem to have priority in the attention of many in our country.

As this suffering continues, many in the United States are willing to tolerate heresy and moral decadence in a vain attempt to “get along” with others. While Christians must “love the sinner and hate the sin,” there are an increasing number of people who are intimidated into enabling the sinner to advertise his sin. In 1992, Cardinal O’Connor said that compromising Catholic truth for the sake of political correctness “was not worth one comma in the Apostles' Creed.”

The holy martyrs in the Middle East honor the Church and atone for our degeneracy. Their bishops are willing to struggle and die with them. They must be amazed that bishops and people in other places have their priorities so wrong.

Boston Catholic Insider on Cardinal O'Malley's Publicity Stunts for "Crux"

Excellent post.

I forgot Margery Eagan suggested the Pope should try smoking pot.

That might explain the launch event?

Casting the Net into the Deep

As I watched Cardinal O'Malley, Mary Ann Glendon, Joan Desmond Frawley sell a media apostolate they know will encourage readers to sleep around, take contraception, conflate false gods and pagan rituals as supplements for the sacraments, I thought a lot about the direction this is all going and work we all have cut out for us in our parishes. Until Pope Francis gets to the big 'ta da" of the practice of loving Christ enough to be faithful to Him, the practice of love that does what your lover desires even when you don't feel lie it -- this is where the 'Francis effect' is going to really do damage - in the Liturgy, in catechesis, which will then spread to the community and our own homes and relationships of everyone we care about making their way to Heaven.

I often wonder how Pope Francis feels about the "Francis effect".

Imagine yourself trying to sell the teachings of the Church with a new marketing plan and the next thing you know your initiative turns into a Catholic license to sin free from consequences and they call it the "Carol effect".

Pope Francis is like the parents in town who have drunken bashes for teenagers. All the teens love them but the parents don't have a friend in town over the age 18. It doesn't stop until the conversion is spawned from the tragedy of a child who wraps his car around a tree.

The synod is right around the corner. We have three possibilities.

1. He's going to formally undermine the teachings and structure of the Mystical Body of Christ
2. He's going to move people to faithfulness.
3. Cardinal O'Malley and Mary Ann Glendon have given us the preview: Pope Francis is going to sell Margery Eagan and her dissent as the future role model of 'all things Catholic'.

As the "Crux" was playing out, I was hands on working on another situation in the Archdiocese. The details are not important but the outcome is, because everyone on every level eventually came to Jesus on it and the initiative is going to be tweaked to put the focus back on the mission to bring souls to Sanctifying Grace.

One or two heroic witness to laying down one's own agenda to learn and accept the truth at all costs can light a fire of love that consumes many. When a person or persons desires to do something that is contrary to the teachings of the Church or Canon Law, love for Christ is taken hostage.

A person has sexual desires for you they want to fulfill. The spiritual reality is, that person is asking you to make a choice between them and Christ.

There are individual struggles:

Do you want to remain in a state of Grace and receive the Properties in the Eucharist or do you want to keep that person in your life?

The person you love has taken Christ hostage and the choice is before you. Pay his ransom and walk away or give in to the demands of the captor.

It's a subconscious thing that goes on, the person doesn't mean to do it but that is what is happening on the spiritual level.

There are parish and community struggles:

A person wants to turn the Sacred Liturgy into theatrics of lights and good music and human entertainment, folklore or dance. Does a priest sacrifice bringing his entire community to the font of Sanctifying Grace and let the person or persons hijack the Liturgy?

There are struggles that will involve our duty to preserve the Deposit of Faith for the next generation when it is in the hands of pagans and heretics.

We have islam carrying out their perpetual agenda to pursue and kill Christ and His folowers and the President of the United States has them positioned in every city waiting for the right time to riot and bomb, set fires and kill us all.

It's an emergency situation. Most of us are people of good will who may make mistakes in casting the net into the deep.

Those who are goners are going to become obvious and manifest themselves.

We have our work cut out for us and everyone has their role. Many victories lie ahead. Many heroes are sitting beside you, leading their parishes in ministries or as priests. There are heroes in the Chancery, in the USCCB and in Rome.

The Mystical Body of Christ is absolutely magnificent. I just can't get enough of it.

n.b. There is a Latin Mass at s
St Pauls in Cambridge at 7pm tomorrow evening to celebrate the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. See you there!

Pope Francis to Marry Couples Living in Sin - Be careful of stories with meat and potatoes missing.

I lost a few pounds when I saw these headlines this morning, but there is much more to this story than meets the eye.

Couples who have been "living in sin" and women who had children out of wedlock will be married by Pope Francis at a ceremony at the Vatican on Sunday, in a further sign of his determination to make the Catholic Church more inclusive and compassionate.

Ah...no. Like gays have always been marching in parades, the Catholic Church has been marrying couples who live together and have children out of wedlock all along.

The idea is to ask the right questions that lead to those revelations and then teach the substance that leads them to Sanctifying Grace.

There are some important quotes missing from this story. (Here is an article that carried the story in its entirety)

Here's the important quote:

While cohabitation is not in itself a canonical impediment to marriage, it is contrary to the church's teaching on marriage and sexual love. The church urges that pastoral ministers help couples preparing for marriage by showing them the witness of Christian family life in such a way as they may regularize their situation before their wedding ceremony.

Doesn't matter what their situation is when they approach Christ's Church. If they are willing to regularize and enter the Sacrament in a state of Sanctifying Grace, it is the beautiful practice of our religion.

Cardinal O'Malley Reveals More of Pope Francis Plans for Catechesis (or lack thereof)

I reviewed several articles describing last night's Crux kickoff.

Cardinal O'Malley hasn't been this gaga in a room full of powerbrokers moral relativism since Ted Kennedy's funeral.

He made several startling revelations.

First of all, he and Pope Francis are in constant communication by fax around the clock.

Whooh-boy. Carol is calling in some chits to get her hands on that number!

Cardinal O'Malley indicated that Pope Francis is looking in every corner of the world to find voices of cafeteria Catholics who discredit 2000 years of Catholic saints and theologians and help put them in charge of the Vatican.

He really wants lay people to take their proper role in the church, ...But of Francis’ curial reforms that rely on lay experts rather than Vatican bureaucrats? “There’s been a lot of resistance, but the Holy Father has been behind this 100 percent.”

And, if there were ever two men who knew how to pick 'em, it is Cardinal O'Malley and Pope Francis.

Here we were thinking the proper role of a lay person in the Church was being a mother and father, grandparent, children taking care of their elderly parents, husband, wife, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, friend, neighbor and let celibate men take care of the Deposit of Faith and the Sacraments?

One of the more interesting lines of discussion began when Margery Eagan, who writes a column on spirituality for Crux (and who co-hosts Boston Public Radio on WGBH 89.7 FM), asked if Francis might bridge the gap between someone who is “a liberal Catholic” or “a cafeteria Catholic” such as herself and “a conservative Catholic” such as Glendon.

Bridge the gap.

This is a Church that teaches right from wrong, sin from virtue. Why in the Name of Christ would we ever want to leave the River of Sanctifying Grace to cross a bridge to listen to the talking points of misguided wolves in sheep's clothing?

No, there isn't going to be any common ground initiatives with lies. It is so far over their heads, they are incapable of processing the reasons why.

Are you ready for the best line in the whole thing?

“I’m going to resist being called a conservative Catholic,” Glendon replied.

You don't say!

For reasons I don't have to explain to readers of TTC, I couldn't think of anything more harebrained than Cardinal O'Malley and Mary Ann Glendon to be the stars of an infomercial encouraging Catholic leaders to read the theological trash posted on Crux.

If they were intentionally trying to sabotage the salvation of souls in Boston, they couldn't do a better job.

What do you think they'll do for an encore?

I think the St. Patrick's Day Parade is looking for a couple of Catholics who know to pull off a decent publicity stunt to spin the story.

Another excellent Vortex -- he's on fire!

I've never taken a shine to the word 'pastoral'. Mikey nails the meaning.

Scuzie

But I am struggling to make sense out of Bill Donohue's continued statements.

This one is way, way out there.

He seems to be positioning his contentment with clapping fornication being added to a Catholic Saint's parade as being okay with him so long as signs about Catholic teaching could be included too.

Where is he losing us?

Maybe this will help:

Prior to the announcement that a klu klux klan group would march under its own banner in the 2015 parade, I was consulted by parade organizers about their plans. I told them that I could only support this decision if there were a formal revision in the parade’s rules governing marching units, and that is exactly what I said in my first public statement. To be specific, I asked them to pledge that a pro-life Catholic group would also be permitted. I was told that a formal change in the rules had been approved and that a pro-life group would march.

Billy boy, when one digs oneself into a hole...we..put.the.shovel.down.

If the scags from "fe-men" want to come into our Churches and the governors of every state tell us we have to let them parade around naked during our Sacred Liturgy, defending the faith doesn't involve saying it's ok with us so long as we are allowed to wear clothes.

Give it a rest.

Cardinal O'Malley Attending Event to Support John Allen/Margery Egan Apostate Website

For out of town readers unfamiliar with Boston media publications, Margery Egan is a Boston Herald journalist who has spent the last few decades publishing articles that encourage Catholic women to sleep around, take contraception and kill their own children. Over the last decade, she added encouraging sexual activity and promiscuity to same sex attracted Catholics.

Anytime there was an opportunity trash Church teaching, bash Catholics striving to practice their religion with fidelity or paint every priest as a pedophile, Mags was all over it.

God only knows how many souls died in their sin, empowered by articles written by the Margery Egan.

When the Boston Globe announced the Catholic Bonnie and Clyde show, Boston Catholics kept refreshing the browser at Cardinal Sean's blog waiting for the big announcement that they are doing a great disservice to the Church and irreparable damage to the communion of the Church.

Ok..we weren't breathlessly waiting for him to use the blog to criticize reprobates as he does faithful Catholics, but the last thing we expected was an announcement that Cardinal O'Malley is so 'supportive' of their publication, he will be in attendance, not only at the 'launch' event in Boston, but he's going to fly to Rome to attend the 'launch' event scheduled there.

Do you believe it? Cardinal O'Malley is a guest speaker at the launch of a publication that distorts and undermines Catholic Church teaching.

John Allen states that while the Archdiocese isn't going to 'officially sponsor' them, Cardinal O'Malley is going to put some wind in their sails.

And, guess who his sidekick is?

Yep - Cardinal Dolan.

You will undoubtedly, from time to time, be seeing an interview with Cardinal O’Malley [of Boston], who will be speaking at our launch event at Boston College on Sept. 11. But that is because he is a national figure. The same goes for my three-part interview with Cardinal Dolan that Crux is publishing.

A regular national celebrity.

Cardinal Pell too. What's gotten into him? I thought he could smell the pigs in the poke all the way from Australia. Has he gone soft in the squash too?

This was my favorite part of the article:

On Sept. 5, Register senior editor Joan Frawley Desmond spoke with Allen about his plans to develop a Catholic website that doesn't “carry water for anyone” and his hopes that the “Francis effect” will revitalize public interest in all things Catholic.

Boy, there's nothing like a story in a Catholic publication dripping with willful ignorance and dishonesty. Every responsible Catholic journalist knows full well the Boston Globe is 'carrying the water' for the culture of death and the destruction of Christ's Church.

I'm so sick of the 'Francis effect', it isn't even funny. Spiritual insanity is getting as scary as Ebola.

n.b. here's a post by Mags.

A bitter superficial woman with a chip on her shoulder, at odds with Church teaching, who disagrees with the church on gays, birth control, women, coming to Church to "meet and greet" and get a piece of squished Sunbeam bread and wine from the priest.

Precisely the kind of cheap leadership in Catholic thought Cardinal O'Malley is well-known to deliver unto Catholic women in Boston.

Margery Eagan may well die sitting in a pew. But it doesn't make her a Catholic, anymore than sitting in her garage makes her a car.

Cardinal Dolan Thinks the Days of Culture Wars in Church Coming to a Close?

You really have to wonder what world this man is living in.

Do you think they're hiding the newspapers and blogs from him?

Hey, I've been involved in the front line battle for a couple of decades and can say with absolute certainty, the culture wars inside of the Church have never been more turbulent than under the reign of Pope Francis.

They really know how to make a smooch to the kuran looks like a kumbaya moment!

Seriously, where is he getting his news from? There isn't a respected sound apostolate I am aware of that isn't throwing rotting tomatoes at them.

Well-respected, well-heeled theologians who would in the past forbear criticizing a bishop (much less a Pope), are openly admitting their disgust and loss of confidence and trust in the hierarchy - not only in the US but also the Romans. With a handful of exceptions (and we all know who they are!).

I guess they think we're going to join the parade and let our children and grandchildren, people we love, embrace apostasy and belly up to sacrilegious communion and communism without catastrophic resistance. Good luck with that!

They are incapable of seeing the writing on the wall.

Cardinal Dolan also stated - get this - Pope Francis "would not be associated with any one ideological camp".

Ideological camp is the new code word for the Magisterium.

According to Cardinal Dolan, Pope Francis doesn't want to be associated with fidelity to the teachings of the Church. Sadly, the evidence to discredit that assertion is pretty flimsy.

I would have thought the blood of the martyrs would help their spines but it seems to me, our mass martyrdom has only made them more craven.

Maybe they're getting their cues from their fearless leader Obama?

Mr. President, what is your position on the beheadings?

Obama: My position on the beheadings is, I be heading to the golf course.

Somebody should fed ex the latest Vortex to Cardinal Dolan with a question: DOES THIS LOOK LIKE CLOSURE TO YOU?

"Conservative" Catholics "Turning" on Cardinal Dolan?

A fun article in the Washington Post.

It always amazes me that there are people 'out there' who want to believe "conservative" is the proper term for loving God so intimately you always strive never be unfaithful to Him. I often wonder if they think cheating on their spouse is just 'liberal'.

In any event, it would seem Bill Donohue's credibility has finally imploded. The poor man's ministry has been suffering from the effects of needing the seat at the Bishop's swanky events for quite some time. He had to keep lowering the bar to defend the indefensible. Watching him grovel his credibility away was painful.

These apostolates survive on money from wealthy Catholics who want a seat at the Bishop's swanky events. They have invested a lot of treasure into the pockets of the Bishop to obtain a seat at the table. The Bishops then use them to influence the coverups of corruption and misfeasance. They feed off of each other.

A person who speaks openly and honestly about the skullduggery of a Cardinal like Cardinal Dolan is on a Chancery blacklist. The Chancery keeps watch on who gives money and support to such persons and makes clear their name will go on a blacklist too, if they support the apostolate.
But Bill Donohue was putty in their hands.

When that happens, the apostolate loses the support of the people running the operation on the ground - the army - and becomes an elite group of muckety mucks who are out of touch with reality.

These people are the same people who are financing the political game. When they become out of touch with the ground game of the army, they start making stupid decisions about candidates that voters are not going to support under any circumstances. But they are so accustomed to winning with their money, they are incapable of understanding their money and power means nothing juxtaposed against the foot soldiers zeal for pleasing God above everyone else, in all circumstances. They lose sight of the fact that the foot soldiers are in control. Nobody was going to vote for their white, rich Obama who would protect their money but had no intention of protecting life or religious protections in the Constitution.

I suspect Bill's defense of Cardinal Dolan's dishonorable mockery of an Irish Catholic saint was so farcical that even the rich could not support it and made critical phone calls to him. He has reversed his self.

Too late kiddo.

You were paid off to be silent until the corruption of Bishops completely destroyed everything. Don't bother stopping now that it has reached the level of the asinine. Get on his mattress and ride your fanny to his swanky events, tip the glass and smoke your cigar with him. Our people are being massacred and it is only a matter of time before they are on our doorstep.

I had a good laugh at Rod Dreher's thoughts that Cardinal Dolan might come to a realization that he's lost the support of faithful Catholics who are trying to preserve Church teaching in the face of his farcical contradictions.

I presume Dreher is consoling himself with those thoughts but Cardinal Dolan does not give a rat's patoot about actions he knows causes the loss of trust and leadership among faithful Catholics.

What he cares about is gaining the trust and political favor with Herod and Herodias. This is a huge victory for him and he no doubt is very pleased his craven capitulations have won him the leading role in the parade. Really, when you think about it, what better spot for him. There he will be in all his glory, half in the bag, and following behind him will be the Irish drunks and people wearing t-shirts announcing whose sexual orifices they are pleasuring. He owns the results of their spiritual formation and should proudly lead them through the streets of New York in victory.

We were lucky in Boston to have Irish Catholic men who withdrew after political pressure to add people wearing signs about who they are rolling in bed in defiance of Catholic Church teaching. It's tough to fight the political pressure of people who make booze in New York City. I'd love to see it become just Cardinal Dolan and people wearing signs about who they're sleeping with.

Maybe somebody in the t-shirt business could come up with some more themes.

"Kiss me, I'm Irish and proud to be cheating on my spouse." "COS" That would be a huge section.

"Irish prostitute"
"Irish and had an abortion"
"Proud Irish masturbator"

We could gas up a convertible and send Cardinal Dolan in a shirt that says "behind me are the results of what I teach or lack thereof" or, "Herod and Herodios following behind - GOOD FOR THEM!"

Lord, I'm Amazed with Me.

When I read this article, I really tried hard not to say, There they go again with another lame marketing scheme focused on how great they art.

I lost the battle.

Surely, I said to myself, one of the traits involves a priest who gives homilies that form consciences able to discern sin from virtue and available to administer the Sacraments.

But when I scratched the surface, it was a lot of hooey about 'real leaders' and a zippydoda experience on Sunday with good parking and donuts.

In fairness, one of the traits is 'compelling formation'

Compelling?

Do these people get the problem?

As soon as you convey the message it is necessary to refrain from sleeping around and using contraception, they walk out the door with their wallets. Because the Bishops want what's in the wallets, they've issued an edit to stop teaching the tenets of our religion and turn our parishes into religious entertainment for people plagued with the intellectual and spiritual effects of unrepentant sin.

It's a Sunday morn religious boondoggle.

I went to the website and poked around but it didn't get any better.

I thought to myself, is it me? and did a google.

This post on onepeterfive has a link to a youtube on advice on how to bring the Sunday morning zippidedooda to your parish.

The 'weekend experience' coordinator and marketing person explain:

You have to find a mission based upon the likes of the people in the community and then 'construct your service to reflect those likes'. Build a lot of small details into crafting the amazing weekend experience.

The idea, they say, is to 'know the obstacles to YOUR guests coming into your Church community so you can remove them before they experience them.

The weekend experience coordinator tells us he came up with the idea that there are fathers bringing his children to a parish in our universal Catholic Church and he freezes like a deer in the headlights when he sees the pews. He claims there are men who don't know the rules on sitting down in the pews and the parish must have people at the doors to rush to the assistance.

Carol can't sit on a panel with folks the chancery personnel finds to be 'real leaders'.

I would not hesitate to explain that men are creatures who are perfectly capable of making their way to a chair at a sporting event, a seat on a crowded train or movie theater. There is no such animal as a man, clinging to the hands of their children at the doors of our Churches frozen in fear. So, let's skip the 'groups of friendly people' to welcome OUR "guests" and just let people sit down and talk to Christ without interruption or distraction. That's who they came to see. Their HIS guests.

Whatever you do, go to 2:45 at the video and listen to what this individual is looking for when he comes to the Sacred Liturgy.

A great atmosphere, like a theater with good lighting and music. The woman explains that these are tools and tricks of amazing - with the coffee cafe being the 'capstone of our weekend experience'.

A word to the wise: Don't bring this effort south of Quincy or there will be a lot of commotion.

The Clu Clux Crux and Archbishop Chaput

I know I keep repeating myself, but here's another shining example that we're all going to keep vigilant guard over our souls - and I do mean vigilant.

When it comes to Catechesis under the reign of Pope Francis, it would seem the only thing we are not going to have a shortage of is nutty rituals and kooky theology.

When it comes to navigating the river of sanity, we learned Archbishop Chaput does not have both oars in the water. He's pulled his boat over to the shores to join a tribe of Indians who perform pagan rituals of smoking tobaccy and eagle feathers to invoke spirits.

When it comes to counsel, wisdom, healing and intimacy with the spiritual world, the Divinity of Christ in the Tabernacle just isn't cutting the mustard for him.

Color me scrupulous, but I've been away from the madness for so long, it's hard to imagine how you even find yourself in such a haunted place, let alone be so numb in the soul and brain that you would admit your predicament in a newspaper.

Forgive me for thinking out loud here, but there are several stages of the state of one's soul that seem obvious to me. I might descend a couple of steps, but it astounds me that a Catholic priest or Bishop would be smoking feathers in a tribe for a cheap thrill for his soul and not say to himself... WHOAH. WAIT, WHAT AM I DOING!!!!

Here's a reader's digest of my stages:

1. Intimacy and joy - you can't get enough of the Divinity of Christ and the Properties are guiding your mind, soul and animus.

2. Drifting - thoughts or feelings disturb your peace and you are struggling with your rudder.

The devil is in the vicinity. You may not even be able to put your finger on where he's trying to worm his way in. Things in life may seem like they're going smoothly. It might be something small that he's pecking away at, but he is there. If a quick examination of conscience doesn't find mortal sin, you increase reception of the Eucharist, time in Adoration, prayer, Rosary.

Doesn't take long and you're back fully drawing the Properties of Christ. The Alpha and the Omega which contains EVERYTHING.

3. Rudderless - Your thoughts and animus is in a tail spin. You walk out of Mass, Adoration - and you are in the same shape as before you went in.

You've got an ailment that requires the Sacrament of Confession. Time for examination of conscience and the Eucharist, prayer, vigilance - until you are back drawing the Properties of Christ.

I work at trying not to fall below the drift. Life is complicated and busy and I will occasionally find myself in a place where the Properties in Christ's Body and Blood are unable to reach me. It doesn't take longer than a few days to recognize it. I am not feeling the draw. I fall away from prayer. I am operating completely under my own power and I feel it. I put doing something about it on my top list of priorities.

I am not saying finding joy and peace in exercise, the beach, a movie, friends, family, chores, things that appreciate the heritage of our ancestors and culture, work, isn't a good pursuit. Of course it is.

But if you find yourself trying to jump on a cheap thrill of a pagan rituals for your spiritual sustenance, you are off of Christ's reservation.

The poor misguided creatures writing at the Crux have an agenda they are carrying out. Here was a not to surprising revelation: They are aiming at 'middle-aged' bitter man-hating seahags in the pews.

Pope Francis has ripened the agenda. Whether he means to or he doesn't is irrelevant. The devil is in the details and the harvesting between the good and evil forces is in full swing. Stay alert in your boat and if you feel the drift, get thee to Confession and the Eucharist.

Please pray for our dear Archbishop Chaput.

Mike Voris Vortex is, once again, outstanding.

One point. He asks what is happening and me thinks Mikey does not want to acknowledge the Pope Francis elephant in the room. The Chair of Peter is occupied by a leader of this long, painful crucible inside of our Church. The elevation has empowered the agenda. They are fearlessly advancing the internal destruction. That is what is happening.

Cardinal Dolan's St. Patrick's Day Parade Float: A King Size Mattress He Calls The Church of Pope Francis

Cardinal Dolan has taken up the cause of the Catholic Congregation for Clapping Fornication (the "CCCF") to mock the piety and virtue of St. Patrick by turning his feast day into a public display of taking pride in orgies.

You have no doubt read the many stories out there, Phil Lawler's is as good as any.

As an Irish Catholic woman, I cannot articulate how upsetting this is to me, in every conceivable way. Mostly, how the very public rise of prelates who lead souls into temptation and sin will affect the unseen battle between the forces of good and evil. Not just the souls that will fall to it, but the tornado force winds he is releasing into the spiritual world with which we will all have to deal.

Several years ago, Fr. Roger Landry wrote an article with some background on St. Patrick that strikes the right chord on how the ordained are designed to pass on the gifts of our great saint.

By these excerpts it is obvious that, to St. Patrick, the best way to honor him would be to bind unto ourselves the same God he did:

“I bind unto myself today the strong Name of the Trinity, by invocation of the same, the Three in One and One in Three.

“I bind unto myself today
the power of God to hold and lead, his eye to watch, his might to stay,
his ear to hearken to my need; the wisdom of my God to teach,
his hand to guide, his shield to ward; the word of God to give me speech,
his heavenly host to be my guard. …

“Against the demon snares of sin, the vice that gives temptation force, the natural lusts that war within, the hostile men that mar my course…

“Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me.
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.…

Impossible to see through a bottom of a glass of Dewars.

Another interesting story on Cardinal Dolan popped up over the last few days, he is fighting over the body of Venerable Bishop Sheen. Rather than relinquish his grip so the cause for Sainthood can go forward, he has turned off the engine of the plane to cause a nose dive into the historic archives.

Fr. Z has a good round up of thought.

Cardinal Dolan had absolutely no interest in the cause, so Peoria took it up, did all the work. Now that it has momentum, Cardinal Dolan wants to renege on the original agreement for the body to move to Peoria.

The canonization cause of Archbishop Fulton Sheen has been suspended indefinitely, according to a statement issued Sept. 3 by the Diocese of Peoria, Illinois, where the archbishop was born.

The suspension was announced “with immense sadness,” the diocese said. “The process to verify a possible miracle attributed to Sheen had been going extremely well, and only awaited a vote of the cardinals and the approval of the Holy Father. There was every indication that a possible date for beatification in Peoria would have been scheduled for as early as the coming year.”

The irony of all this is, the Archdiocese of New York persecuted Bishop Sheen. The usual and customary abusive conduct from bureaucrats and luminaries in our chanceries to those who attempt to teach the Deposit of Faith - those of us who won't join the Congregation for Clapping Fornication.

I could be jaded, but there's a tiny little voice that's saying Cardinal Dolan's engine stall is passive-aggressive.

I mention Fr. Landry above because I am concerned he's fallen into the pack of dogs running wild at EWTN.

When one lays down with the dogs, one gets up with fleas.

St. Patrick, pray for us.

addendum:

I am suspicious about the force behind the removal of Monsignor Pope's post on Cardinal Dolan's Grand Marshalling of the St. Patrick's Day Irish Catholic Clapping Fornicators Parade.

“Now the St. Patrick’s Parade is becoming of parade of disorder, chaos, and fake unity,” Pope wrote in the blog post. “Let’s be honest: St. Patrick’s Day nationally has become a disgraceful display of drunkenness and foolishness in the middle of Lent that more often embarrasses the memory of Patrick than honors it.”

Pope also decried the Al Smith Dinner Memorial Foundation Dinner as “a night of frivolity.” Additionally, he said attendees celebrate along “with those who think it is acceptable to abort children by the millions each year, with those who think anal sex is to be celebrated as an expression of love and that LGBTQIA… (I=intersexual, A= Asexual) is actually a form of sanity to which we should tip our hat, and with those who stand four-square against us over religious liberty.”

He was silenced.

The good old boys protecting Cardinal Dolan's widdle feewings trumps the salvation of souls.

Carry on fellas. Whatever you do, don't acknowledge the problem and whisk Cardinal Dolan off to St. Luke's for a few months.

Whisk it under the carpet and carry on.

James Carroll Putting Pins in his Holy City of Rome voodoo dolly (Again. YAWN)

With the rise of the political empire of the murderers of islam, the Boston Globe is ignoring the ethnic cleansing of Christians all over the world and stepping up hating on the Roman Catholic Church.

When it comes to the scramble of finding space to cover the systemic beheading of Christian children and parading their heads on sticks or James Carroll's screed about abolishing Vatican City, we have a winner.

Carroll, a former priest, describes himself as a "Roman Catholic Reformer".

So here we are forty years later and he has  'reformed' bupkis in the Deposit of Faith.

Sleeping around outside of the Sacrament of Marriage is still immoral and sinful. The precious gift and powerful intercessory fast of priestly celibacy is still going strong. The Church hasn't budged from Humanae Vitae.

Every ounce of energy he's put into his 'reformation' has been a bust.

Over the course of the past year or so, he's put his wages on Pope Francis whom he hopes and believes will usher in the era of triumph for the trouser monsters.

He's still waiting.

Earlier this week, the Boston Globe published another article attacking the Catholic Church. They have a special department of rabid dogs who go after Irish Catholics. Our friend CJ Doyle writes about it below.

I think the Globe was expecting big changes with Pope Francis. My gut instincts were they hired John Allen from the heretical and excommunicated rag National Catholic Reporter for what they hoped would be Pulitzer Prize coverage of the reforms.

I think there are a couple of skangers on Morrissey Boulevard who are getting restless.    LOL.

THE GLOBE'S KEVIN CULLEN DEFINES ONCE
CATHOLIC IRELAND AS "BACKWARD"

In a metro column of The Boston Sunday Globe of August 24th, serial Catholic basher Kevin Cullen wrote about the controversy in Ireland over the discovery of unmarked graves of children at the site of a maternity home in Tuam administered by the Bon Secours Sisters. Though disturbing questions remain, the affair has been characterized by hysterical press coverage and extravagant claims, almost all of which have now been discredited.

Despite his usual vitriolic inclinations, Cullen, in this matter, was prepared to make a few concessions to the truth. He even referred to thepernicious sensationalism of the British owned and inspired media in Dublin. He would then go on however, to repeat many of the same absurdities peddled by the Dublin media, alleging that parish priests regularly condemned unwed mothers at Mass,"every Sunday," or that the Catholic Church believed that children born out of wedlock were "undeserving of human dignity."

Cullen made one revealing comment that told us all we need to know---about Kevin Cullen. He described post independent, mid twentieth century, devoutly Catholic Ireland as "backward" and "clerically dominated." Apparently, faithful adherence to the Catholic religion defines Cullen's criteria for an enfeebled, retrograde culture. Presumably, by Cullen's standards, modern Massachusetts, which kills pre-born children, sodomizes marriage, and distributes contraceptives to minors, is an example of progress and enlightenment.

Cullen's bigoted crack insulted a generation of Irishmen and Irish women who defeated the largest empire in history to gain their freedom and independence---albeit an incomplete, or, as DeValera would say, a "mutilated" independence. A few things ought to be said in defense of that generation. Moreover, some facts, being facts, ought to be acknowledged:

---- At a time when Europe was convulsed by authoritarianism, totalitarianism, wars of aggression, crimes against humanity, genocide, atrocities, religious pogroms, ethnic cleansing, and all manner of extremism, independent Ireland created a stable, peaceful, free, and democratic society governed by the rule of law. Even Winston Churchill, in his second premiership, admitted this.

---- Despite 800 years of occupation and oppression, and 400 years of confiscation and religious persecution, the Irish, upon securing their independence, perpetrated no acts of vengeance upon the religious minority associated with the occupation. Instead, they welcomed members of that minority as citizens, left them undisturbed in their liberties and property, refrained from any discrimination against them, recognized them in the national constitution, and even elected one of their number to the presidency of the state, and later, another, to the presidency of the Republic.

---- At a time when state governments in New England, and, more ominously, in Germany, were sterilizing those with intellectual handicaps, independent Ireland defended the sanctity of innocent human life from conception to natural death, opposing all forms of abortion, contraception, sterilization and euthanasia.

---- At a time when Western nations were weakening prohibitions and restrictions on divorce---the principal cause of female poverty in modern society---independent Ireland upheld the integrity and indissolubility of marriage.

---- At a time when the major Western democracies were complacent in the practice of appeasement, independent Ireland, small, poor, neutral, and virtually unarmed, became one of the first countries to oppose the Fascist aggression in Ethiopia.

---- Ireland, upon independence, effectively eradicated from its capital city that form of human degradation known as prostitution, (which flourished there under British rule) and kept out of the country the Anglo-American vice of pornographic literature.

---- After independence, Ireland established a constitution, a code of laws, and a system of public policies which held that the family was superior to the state, that parents, not the government, should choose the education of their children, and that mothers who chose to care for their children, should, ideally, not be forced to work outside the home.

Given the disasters which afflicted so many post colonial societies in the 20th century, any fair minded observer would view the achievements of independent Ireland with admiration and respect. For Kevin Cullen however, this is all ecclesiastically inspired backwardness.

One is left to wonder in astonishment at the origin of this kind of quisling mentality: political correctness, human respect, a bad conscience, professional self interest? Who knows? On one point, Cullen is obviously quite lucid. Given his attitude towards Irish Catholicism, he is, on Morrissey Boulevard, certainly working for the right employer.
