Pope Francis Says Jesus was Daring to Pick Apostles Who Were So Stupid...

That statement you make when you think all blue collar workers are stupid:   “It really seems too daring that Jesus entrusts the task to a small group of simple men without great intellectual abilities!”

The man seems to subscribe to an awful lot of urban legends.

Blue collar workers are stupid.

People who own guns are not Christian.

Women who trust God and are open to life know about as much about procreation as wild bunny rabbits.

Folks who come to Mass to immerse themselves in Christ in mystical prayer are people who don't like to dance.

People who know the effects of receiving the Blessed Sacrament in a state of mortal sin are museum mummies.

Catholics complaining about the stupid things he's doing and saying and the damage its doing to people we love are bitter, rigid, pickle-pussed gossip terrorists.

It's all so tiring.

Tomorrow, citizens of my beloved Ireland are voting on a referendum to put children to death.   The Holy Father has said nothing.   Absolutely nothing.  He expresses his disgust for every raised eyebrow but nothing to say about the lives of the unborn and the salvation of their mothers.

At the end of the day, Christ knew when it comes to an apostolic mission, even an apostolic imbecile is better than someone who just doesn't give a damn.

For once, I have no problem with a statement from that man. It is Jesus's church: the achievement is his, and all good that's accomplished is thanks to God. Would that we had more not-terribly-bright priests like the cure of Ars, and fewer clever fellows like Kasper and Schoenborn.

Oh, he gives a DAMN alright. That is the problem.

But, he does have a real point. Look at the clerics, God is still picking STUPID men.
These losers cannot see the obvious. That is pretty stupid!!

I daresay that it's Kasper et al that are the dense ones. They won't acknowledge the logical and philosophical impossibility of a "god of surprises" since God does not change. Vianny may have had trouble with Latin but I understand that his perceived difficulties with theology was in fact him not complying with the undercurrents of jansenism that existed at that time. These times call for an Aquinas or some others of that caliber.

Carol, never forget the following:

1. Jesus picked simple men to be His disciples because they represented humanity as a whole. He came to save humanity as a whole, not those who hope in their intellect apart from Him.

2. The religious scholars of Jesus' day rejected Him, almost to a man.

3. Remember Matthew 13:12. Jesus said that those who obey what he has taught them will receive more teaching. Those who reject His teaching will see what they have taken away from them. In which condition is the Catholic hierarchy in now?

Some might ask if the Holy Spirit was daring to pick a pope who is so stupid!

Tom, I suggest you read the story behind Leo XIII's vision that led him to compose the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel. That vision, if true, is a divine indictment of the institutional arrogance and clericalism that Catholicism spawned, if not of Catholicism itself.

Anonymous,

I found this, please explain:

The guttural voice, the voice of Satan in his pride, boasted to Our Lord: "I can destroy your Church."

The gentle voice of Our Lord: "You can? Then go ahead and do so."

Satan: "To do so, I need more time and more power."

Our Lord: "How much time? How much power?

Satan: "75 to 100 years, and a greater power over those who will give themselves over to my service."

Our Lord: "You have the time, you will have the power. Do with them what you will."

Karl, the explanation is simple: Jesus has given the Catholic Church over to Satan because the Church refuses to repent of its lust for power, prestige and wealth. Period.
