From a gifted writer and friend:
“In Search of Peace”
I tried to find peace, but it always evaded me. I searched for it in
prestige,
education,
accomplishments,
challenges, and
employment.
But I couldn’t find it. Some days I felt good, yet there was never a sense of completeness and real rest. Often I felt
panicky,
envious,
agitated,
cheated, and
empty.
Then I acquired a more personal knowledge of Jesus. I experienced his
Patience,
Endurance,
Affirmation,
Comfort, and
Empathy.
I finally found real PEACE.
Unfortunately there are still times when that peace evades me because I just don’t accept it. But slowly and steadily it is becoming more firm in my life.
True PEACE comes from
Prayer and worship,
Experiencing God’s grace,
Accepting his will,
Contemplating his word, and
Expressing his love.
Jesus said, “PEACE is what I leave with you; it is my own PEACE that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.” (John 14:27)
Lord, encourage me to pursue the PEACE that comes from YOU. Please take my burdens and give me rest. Lead me beside the still waters and restore my soul. Then let me bring the PEACE you’ve given me into my relationships with family members and friends. Amen.
