Follow Up on the Catholic Education Problems at Sacred Heart School in Kingston

Earlier this Summer, I apprised readers that there was an update coming to the story about the ongoing saga at Sacred Heart High School in Kingston.

Matt Abbott has the story at Renew. Matt's story is being widely circulated in Catholic circles. (Pewsitter, Spirit Daily and Catholic blogs on the internet)

Catholic parents met with school officials, archdiocesan officials and the fruit of those meetings is not good.

Parents were first ignored and rebuffed. After three or four weeks of slipping out the back door the school principal, Mr. Enos, met with parents. He made clear at these meetings (as he did with me) that he was 100% behind the article and if the opportunity arose to publish similar articles in the future, he will do so.

Additionally, Mr. Enos expressed his unhappiness with the parents for bringing the article to the attention of the Bishop and the Archdiocese and he made clear to them that they were not to do so in the future.

I'd like to remind you that Sacred Heart's article told children a man who hired pedophiles, tied children to tables and had them abused around the clock for 24 hours or more without a break to 'record' their response, was the enlightened one on matters of human sexuality.

Not only did Mr. Enos defend his actions in approving the article, he used his position as principal to tell parents concerned about the ramifications of this article to their own children and other Catholics who attend the school, that he was not happy that there is a code of silence they were not adhering to.

When asked, Enos said that, in hindsight, he wouldn't change his position and he would approve a similar article again if presented the opportunity in the future. He also told the parents that the conversation he had with them was not to leave the room — a version of 'What happens at Sacred Heart stays at Sacred Heart.'

Anyone see a problem with this kind of thuggery?

Can someone tell me what is worse than distributing information to children that a known pedophile who abused thousands of children is the enlightened one on human sexuality and then threatening parents not to tell the Bishop about scandals in the future?

Isn't this a problem for the clowns at the Chancery who are supposed to be protecting 'safe environments to tell' at parishes and schools?

Parents were eventually referred to Mr. Enos' boss, the grand pubah of the Sisters of the Divine Providence, Sister Mary Francis Fletcher.

I spoke to the parents earlier this Summer and the meeting was scandalous. (I hope to convince the parents to permit me to divulge more information about this meeting in the not too distant future.)

We have sent Sister a number of e-mails requesting a written explanation of the administration's plan to address the concerns raised by the parents. Sister has essentially ignored these requests; thus, parents will have no input into how to prevent this situation from happening at Sacred Heart in the future. Sister's arrogant, dismissive and disinterested manner in which she has addressed our concerns and requests is disturbing.

As concerned parents, we requested that the administration respect our decision (and duty) to educate our children in a school committed to a true Catholic education. We are stunned and deeply saddened by all this. We feel a moral obligation not to support a school that calls itself Catholic but authorizes articles in the school newspaper that undermine the Catholic faith, marginalize Catholic teaching — easily available to anyone with a Catechism — treat parents with contempt, and marginalize parents for raising legitimate concerns over these published articles.

I believe it is absolutely critical (and I will advise the parents, council members and other local and national leaders) to add a few more things to this list.

The superior at the Sisters of the Divine Providence should be investigated for hostility to Catholic doctrine by the Vatican.

More importantly Courage and EnCourage need to be brought into Sacred Heart School and in fact EVERY Catholic school across the diocese where this situation pops up.

Courage can be a constant presence rather than "article and counter-article" that will only lead the children in an intellectual circle. Courage is really group support on the ground. They know what to say and how to say it. They put processes for dealing with the feelings of being marginalized and bring about an end that helps them to know they are no different than any one of us, that there is love in the Catholic Church and Her teachings. There is parental support and family support. If there is a genuine concern about hostility or malice, there are trained people who those children can report things to and have that situation taken care of. There shouldn't be any more shame imparted to a child struggling with a same-sex attraction than there is with any other child struggling with temptation and sin.

Here we will have a climate that is safe for one and all and most especially safe for Catholic teachers to teach the faith and Catholic children to learn it. There is no gripe that can be taken up by people who oppose our faith other than telling them a Catholic school may not be the place for their child.

Conservative Catholics have been and continue to be terrorized. They are wounded, frustrated and deeply concerned about the Catechesis that is leaving Catholic children without the tools to make the choices necessary for their salvation.

We have done a terrible job at getting the message right.

Frankly, I have a confession to make.

I am gay friendly.

I'm probably worse than gay friendly, I actually can say there are gays whom I love and I hope and pray that in evangelizing my faith, or wanting that faith evangelized to Catholic children. it does not diminish that love in any way.

This doesn't mean there is an iota of compromise on wanting my faith taught to me and to those in our Catholic communities.

Using the term 'something is gay friendly' in such a way that makes it seem like Catholics and the Catholic Church should't be friendly to gays is not really the wisest choice of words. We should eliminate it from our vocabulary.

We need some new jargon.

Yes, gays have an agenda. They want to be loved. They want to be treated with respect. There is no obstacle to this in a Catholic agenda of wanting our faith taught in our parishes and schools.

There are, of course, some situations where these lofty goals can't be met. For instance, when people want to publicly reject or do not want Catholic teachings taught in Catholic apostolates.

Several months ago, in the process of trying to enroll her child at St. Paul's in Hingham, a lesbian parent made clear that Catholic teaching was offensive to her and she wanted her child enrolled in a Catholic school that would not teach Catholic morality. Local Catholic writer Gail Besse did a great job on the roundup in a story published by the New Oxford Review.

This is not a workable situation, but instead of admitting this, Fr. Bryan Hehir, Jack Connors and Mary Grassa O'Neil cooked up a scheme to cut off funding to any Catholic school in Boston that declared a similar situation as unworkable. The priest who did the right thing, Fr. Rafferty, was hung out to dry. The auxiliary Bishop, Bishop Dooher, placed the child in a Catholic school in Weymouth, thereby making it an impossible place for any teacher to teach Catholic ethics and morality. I can give you my oath as a Catholic activist that are not done with this situation by any means in Boston.

There is a fight going on with the administration under Cardinal O'Malley on the future of Catholic education and they have not yet begun to see the whites of our eyes.

We will not surrender until our faith is freed from the imprisonment or the desks of Fr. Hehir and his cronies are emptied at 66 Brooks Drive.

As Kate Hepburn once said, "Buckle up, it's going to be a bumpy ride."

Hi Carol,

An abortion mill (killing center) is setting up shop 1 block away from my parish (St John the Baptist) in Haverhill MA. I'm glad to report that we have a march scheduled on Oct2nd, we will be marching from our parish to the killing center praying the rosary. (this march is be coodinated by our deacon and priests)

I think (and hope) that the Bryan Hehirs and their liberal nonsense are fading away. It seems like to me...

Jasper,

That is great news. Fantastic news.

St. John's Seminary is not without its problems but there have been many improvements over the years and priests coming out of there are faithful.

Also, as Joan Chittister likes to say "from where I stand" it seems to me that the fall out from the 'sexual abuse crisis' (that actually happened in the 60s and 70s) lit many fires of conversion in the presbyterate. Things have actually improved in terms of open dissent in various parishes.

Right now, we have a better scene than we did ten years ago.

The problem at hand is that those who dissent and have control of things at the Chancery and our schools are after the next generation.

Aside from the threat to producing another generation of children who will lack the tools for salvation, faithful priests are being silenced by those in control. When the teachings are taught, the people in the pews riot. This is a threat to the 'money'. They are getting pressure both from the people in the pews and the people in the Chancery. It is a hostile environment and our Catechism is in captivity. Our faith is not being taught in the overwhelming majority of parishes.

I was happy to learn there are several elementary schools that are teaching the faith. In spite of the Chancery.

But Hehir's efforts are to slay this progress and the things he is putting in place are very advanced. They are not irreversible at this point but they soon will be and we have got to rise up and push back.

Gary, I don't believe we are dealing with sinister people. They are people with no sense at all of the spiritual world and therefore their discernment and discretion has derailed. The results are sinister but they know not what they do.

What has happened here is that parents were brainwashed to let their children's latency period (when their intimacy is being formed and guided)go wild. You will remember in your own latency period when you first became aware of your emotions and love for your parents, we wanted to grow up and marry our fathers and mothers. When we expressed things like this our own parents channeled the intimacy into the right places. We learned the different kinds of love. There is no such thing going on now.

The results of this are catastrophic. For many children, lust has taken the place of love. For others, their love was channeled into being attracted to same-sex. We have what we have and we have to now take the situation and balance the ship inside of Catholic parishes and schools.

Most of us know little or nothing about gays, about how their intimacy plays out in their relationships and I believe that there is a tendency for us to see the fringe and apply those wild things to the 'gay lifestyle'. And, I think gays see fringe who have malice in their hearts for gays and they think that is how Catholics feel about them.

This is why those of us who want our faith taught to us and to our children have got to be more careful about our language and our jargon. Both sides are hurt and frustrated.

Courage and EnCourage is a resource that is underused. We need to be a presence in every school and every parish when the situation pops up, be there with the solution. Push it in our parish councils, our archdiocescan councils, our presbyteral councils and the people in the Chancery.

Some of these places are not going to seed but some of them will.

Right now, there is a rebellion cooking and the people need leadership. Grab a locus and clean it up. Don't forget to get Adoration going and our prayer people behind you. Warriors cannot survive without the prayer.

There is a time for every purpose under Heaven. A time to tear down and a time to build. Here in Boston, the Chancery needs to be torn down while in our parishes we find safe places to build.

Be Not Afraid!

The Cardinal is too busy campaigning for Question 2 on the ballot in November. This situation, which directly involves his flock, is above his pay grade.

Question 2 involves a state law that streamlines local zoning and permitting when low to moderate income housing meets a certain percentage of a development.

This is a matter involving prudential judgments about how best to provide housing for the poor. Lay Catholics, in their guise as citizens, are more than able to make a determination about the effectiveness of this law.

However, the Archdiocese has a stake-through it's charities which provide public housing. Interesting. As the adage says "follow the money".

What's next? Will the Cardinal be demanding to be included in the debates alongside Deval, Charlie, Tim and Jill?

Why is this principal at a Catholic

a real lack of leadership and orthodoxy on behalf of Cardinal Sean".

The principal should be sent to a local library for some remedial education on natural law and basic
reality on human sexuality. Or perhaps the poor fellow could be
sent to a local farm to see how life is made possible.

This stifling of the parents by the Archdiocese seems to be an endemic policy all through the Archdiocese.

It also take place on "Cardinal Sean's blog". This picture fest
offers litle for the faithful while all genuine Catholic comments on this site are stifled.

Has anyone noticed the past three issues of Pilot has had no leters section?

"Be not afraid" the late Pope used to say.

Mrs. McKinley,

As a Sacred Heart student and practicing Catholic I am grateful for your coverage of this story.

I wanted to let you know that the author of the story Joe Nelson has posted your updates to his facebook account again (and twitter) to rally other students to threaten and intimidate you.

Heads up.

Just thought you might like to know: my english class had a nice, collective laugh at your insanity today. As my teacher said "You can't argue with these people, they're idiots. There's no reasoning with such closeminded individuals" It really does make me sad that you can't see the harm you're causing with these blogs. Stop picking fights with high school kids and posting blogs on articles that were written months ago. In short: DROP IT ALREADY.

Your English teacher at Sacred Heart said that did he/she?

Catholics are not openminded about Sacred Heart giving teenagers a pedophile as a mentor, you all laughed and "we" are the idiots?

LOL.

Well, thanks for letting us know.

Mr. Enos and the Sisters of the Divine Providence have quite an anti-Catholic gig going there.

Carol McKinley,
I have one huge problem with your coverage of this matter and others. Actually i have several huge problems with it, but one that stands above the rest, for now. Why is it that you believe the "Children" at Sacred Heart are incapable of reading, understanding and making their own decisions in regards to this matter and others. Your lack of respect and confidence in these students is not something we should forget about. If the previous generation had been perfect (and i do mean your generation) than perhaps there would be merit in what you say. Such as, "And by the way, we are not trying to engage teenagers so run along. This is about and between the adults." The idea that you think so low of these students that you believe they will just buy whatever they hear or are spoon-fed is frightening, and discouraging. It seems you want to keep them buying into whatever is taught at catholic schools so you can spoon-feed that to them as well. Perhaps you are just scared. Scared that your generation is fading and the world will belong to the newly young, and you believe that its up to the old generation (which has caused more problems then they have fixed) to make the new generation better. Well, you can't, so I would appreciate it if you would stop trying.

Carol,

We are not being indoctrinated by our teachers and administrators to be homosexuals. Sacred Heart is gracious enough to give us our freedom of speech in the newspaper. This is important to the students on the staff.

If you are a parent that is upset about a well written window into what it feels like to struggle with something different and somewhat taboo in our environment.

I'm glad the article was published. The students have a right to publish their opinions in the paper. This is the main premise of the Heart Beat; we are fully concerned about our rights to free speech. I respect yours as well, but you will not stifle the students' voices.

To all of those discouraged parents of Sacred Heart students, we would all be glad to see you and your potentially hateful and arrogant children to leave. I will personally show you the door.

Sacred Heart is no place for close-minded, hateful individuals. Perhaps you should home school your children and indoctrinate them as you wish. That way there will be no gay agenda there to taint their perceptions of God's Great Words.

If you don't like it, just leave and operate however you want outside of our school. We don't want your hate to start breeding in our corridors. Write on Carol's blog and have her do something about it. She has the authority, follow in her footsteps. She gets things done. You will receive justice for the atrocities that have been borne upon you.

I am on my lunch but wanted to respond to the last two commenters from Sacred Heart students.

Sacred Heart is a Catholic School. So long as they hang Christ on a Crucifix and characterize themsleves to be a Catholic School, the Constitutional rights of Catholics to preserve their religion actually legally trump 'freedom of speech'. The rights to bring in ideology that persuades catholic children to act in a manner that is contrary to their own salvation actually ends once you cross the threshold of a Catholic School.

I don't expect you to understand this but the adults responsible are going to be called to the table of accountability and they certainly do understand it.

Catholic schools, including any so-called 'student newspaper' are tools to be used "for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that one who belongs to God may be competent, equipped for every good work", (from St. Timothy)

n.b.

I have placed a phone call to the Bishop this morning about the conversation your English teacher had with you yesterday afternoon.

When a teacher and principal uses his opposition to the teachings of the Church to characterize faithful Catholics as hateful, some students will carry this message and harass and threaten and intimidate Catholics.

This most certainly will not only be silenced but we will ask the Bishop to expel and fire any principal, student or teacher who continues on fueling this rage and behavoir.

We have not been standing up to this climate in the last decade but as we are told in today's scripture readings, "The Kingdom of God is at hand".

Has anyone posting here actually read the article in the Heart Beat, or just Carol's and other's opinions about it?

Other than the mention of Alfred Kinsey, who is indeed a controversial figure, and we may never know if he truly is guilty of all those things he is accused of doing in the name of research, neither the author of the article nor the "school" say anything against the Church.

The statements about the Church and its teachings on homosexuality come as quotes from the anonymous profiled students. Say whatever you want about the school's behavior after the publication, especially the less than proper comments you have received on this blog, but these students are entitled to their opinions, and the school publishing their opinions does not equate to these statements becoming the school's opinions.

The words of the students interviewed do not express the school's teaching any more than the editors running an opinion piece by you yourself express the school's teaching.

If you want to address the issues with Sacred Heart and its "departure from Catholic teaching", be my guest. It needs to happen. But it's time to wise up and stop attacking a student paper. You'll never win that way.

Anonymous said...

Carol,
The main problem with your ranting and raving about this article and the lack of Catholic education at Sacred Heart is that the article was not biased. They were merely profiles explaining the thoughts and emotions of students that are gay or bisexual. Nowhere did it say that homosexuality is a good thing or even acceptable, which I'll admit is something I wish it had been able to do. However, the Heart Beat tries to maintain an unbiased approach to journalism that merely presents the facts surrounding an issue. I urge you to go back and read the articles because I guarantee you won't find any promotion of the "homosexual agenda" anywhere. The function of the paper is to teach students responsible, good journalism, which it cannot do if it must take a Catholic perspective on everything. All the students can do as journalists is report the facts. If there is a concern that the majority of students do not understand Catholic teaching on issues like homosexuality, that is something that was, if anything, revealed by the profiles and that can be corrected in religion classes at school. If you think the paper could use an explanation of Church teaching to balance this article, I urge you to write a letter to the editors and I will personally see to it that it is published, being one of the editors myself. However, your position that the article needed to be balanced is that of the minority opinion and certainly not the view of the staff. Therefore, expecting us to write a follow-up summarizing Catholic social teaching is unwise. I'm sure at this point you know where to send letters. I would urge you to take a rest from smearing Sacred Heart before you give the school a chance to prove that we're not just a bunch of sinful spin artists who aim to subvert the teachings of the Church.

You may never know if Kinsey carried out the experiments he reported?

Let me assist you out the most appalling of the long list of straw man arguments you present.

Your denials about this monstrous victimization are reminicent of Catholics who heard the shrieks of children being sodomized behind closed doors by priest pedophilies but wanted to claim they really will never know what happened.

This is like Mel Gibson denying the holocaust. It is sick and I am disgusted by it.

Are you somehow suggesting that if Kinsey made it all up in excrutiating detail, this makes him any less of a monster?

The man was twisted. Even the absurd denial does not absolve the gross misconduct of the student authors and teachers from using this violent sexual deviant as a sound resource on sexual ethics to Catholic children.

The "scientific experiments were observed and every scream and shreik and combatting their rapists was written down.

If the observations were written down, somebody was watching. If they weren't watching, they wouldn't be there to write them down.

The things they were watching happened. That means the pedophiles, children and eqipment used were all in the room. It also means somebody organized it. Upon the publication of the results of the "experiments" rational conclusions are drawn.

As for the suggestion that the article handling the feelings and complaints of sexually active students on the hostile and discriminatory environment of a Catholic school was not in conflict with the teachings of the Church, it is also absurd.

The article is not about children who are denying unhealthy sexual urges with the help of the guidance of the Church. It featured children who have acted upon those urges in the past, have drawn the conclusion homosexuality and bisexuality is their calling and who want to act upon those urges in the future. It further characterized Catholics as bigots and hateful for wanting these urges to be handled like every other sexual urge. This is the direct cause of the malice you see against Catholics here in the comboxes for which the school and the student authors are liable.

Did you ask the students if they are sexuallu active and with whom? If not, why not? One of the students talks about sexuality in the seventh (or so) grade. Did anybody ask the details? Do you know the definition of rape of a child? Is Mr Enos or any other teacher who supervised the project a mandated reporter?

These are serious questions I asked the Bishop back in May and this week we learn the English teacher is calling people raising questions and accountability closed minded idiots.

We are dealing here with a multifaceted problem that is way out of a teenager's league.

What Catholics have been saying for months is, the students do not have the right to use a Catholic periodical handed out to other Catholic children to paint Catholics as bigots or to pass on the emotions of promiscuous children and we are going to see to it that it never happens again.

This was poorly supervised and handled by the adults.

I just wanted to let you know, Carol, the English teacher in question was most certainly not the English teacher who is also the editor of the paper, which I have a hunch you assumed. If this is what you did, you should correct your actions immediately. The English teacher in question is someone completely different. I am not positive if you did this or not, but if so, you should feel ashamed, Ms. McKinley. Please post this. For the sake of that teacher I would just like to know your response to this. Please.

None of the kids mentioned anything about sexual acts or sexual promiscuity. Yes, a relationship was mentioned but not a sexual one. Openly discussing sexual orientation is completely different than discussing sexual behavior. It wasn't mentioned so please stop acting like the article was promoting this. It was promoting the acceptance of these kids as members of the Sacred Heart community, not acceptance of sexual behavior. Also, can you please drop the Kinsey nonsense? Even if the use of this name was in poor taste no student will read the article and think pedophilia or rape is okay. Nor was that ever the intent. The fact that you're even hinting at the thought that students may get this idea is absurd. How stupid do you think high school students are? Stop treating these kids as lost sheep who needed to be guided to salvation. They've all had years upon years of scripture classes and are well aware of the church's teachings on almost any issue imaginable. If they reject a church teaching regarding sexuality that's their choice. They weren't brainwashed, they came to their own conclusions as free thinking, intelligent human beings. Furthermore, many students at Sacred Heart don't come from Catholic families. The main goal of the school is to give the students a better education than they would get elsewhere. They're doing a great job at this. Yes, teaching Catholic values has always been an important goal for the school and always will be, but molding unquestioning students who believe everything they are told about spirituality is not. They are encouraged to come to their own conclusions about their faith and I strongly believe this is a healthy way to go about religious teaching. If this threatens you Carol, then so be it. At least the students have minds of their own. Honestly, Carol, your finger pointing, chastising approach to Christianity is sickening.

TTC said...

In terms of the English teacher, I did not mention anybody's name or make any suggestions about whom I believe it to be.

I also want to be clear that what I am saying when I am making references to mandated reporters.

When an adult find out that a student has revealed he 'found out he was a homosexual in the 7th grade' - this is a huge red flag for sexual abuse. We wouldn't expect other students to recognize this red flag but we certainly expect adults who are in a teaching vocation to be well-trained that the unusually young age of a seventh grader is a red flag.

When the students turned in the article, certain actions should have been taken by the adults.

One of those action items would be to get the identity of the child and ask him certain questions about 'how' he 'found out' in the seventh grade he was a homosexual. He might well have 'found out' because of undue influence of his 50 year old next door neighbor or Uncle Billy.

Get it?

This could well be an abusive situation going on.

Further, the adults should have asked the authors questions about what they mean to convey when they say they want to come out of the closet.

Everyones sins are in the closet. Sins are private matters between a confessor and a penitent. Between counselors and spiritual directors. This was the reason I brought the question to light why you didn't write the article about masturbators coming out of the closet.

Who do you think you are kidding?

Do you think we don't know how to crack the code?

Is there something about your intellect that doesn't inform you that gays don't want to be told their sex they are having is sinful and that was the purpose of your article?t

The nature of a Catholic environment makes it impossible for them to hold hands in the bleachers at the Saints game, be publicly affectionate, take their date to the prom?

That's the closet isn't it?

Because otherwise, the right actions of the school would have been to bring in COURAGE and EnCOURAGE who will help the students be chaste. Just like they bring in Jason Everet to help heterosexuals be chaste.

But that is not what these students were talking about is it. That is not where the teachers at Sacred Heart want to go or Mr. Enos wants to go or the Sisters of the Divine Providence want to go.

Catholics don't want homosexuals treated any differently than heterosexuals who are sinning and want to feel good about those sins out in the open.

Dishonesty is beneath you.

No, the main goal of a Catholic schools is not to give non-Catholic students refuge from the crappy public schools.

The main goal of a Catholic school is for Catholic parents to bring their Catholic children and be taught the Catholic religion and how the tenets of that religion integrate with science, history, law, government and evangelism in this big world. The main goal is to give Catholic children the tools for their own salvation and evangelizing others.

We have been hijacked at the expense of our own children.

We want our schools back and we are sick and tired of being told we are fingerpointing when people who think our Catholics schools are places where they can bring their promiscuity and immorality out in the open and whine about how hateful Catholics are when they step up to the plate and try to put all sin on equal footing on a path to salvation.

As Christ is my witness, you are done using our Crucifix, our Catholic newspapers as your crutch to bring in the ideas of pedophiles and other promoters of immorality and licentiousnessm to Catholic children and boo hoo about your free speech.

This is the beginning of the end. Go to Thayer if you want refuge from public schools. Of course you are free to reject our tenets but what you are not free to do is to build yourself a forum to persuade other Catholic children to reject them. Build your own schools and write away leading people to Gehanna. Knock yourself out.

We are half past give a shit what you think about this and that. We want our children taught our religion. Our whole religion and nothing but our religion so keep your ideas to yourself when you cross our thresholds.

You will get no more room in my forum. Take your accusations about the hatefulness of Catholics elsewhere.

Dear Carol,

My name is Patrick and I am a senior at Sacred Heart High School. You may remember me from that time you stalked my facebook...I thought you might. Anyway, in no way, shape, or form is this issue centered around the "adults." This is between the students and you ignorant humans called conservative catholics. I am seventeen years old and am perfectly capable of forming my own opinions, so please stop implying that kids my age are lower than you on the food chain. We both know that you are at the bottom with convicts and criminals.

In regards to Mr. Enos, just back off. He is a great administrator and knows exactly what he's doing. He is highly respected among the student body and parents of students. Also, have you been slipping out the back door because you are afraid of what might happen if you are seen by students? My guess is that, yes, you are terrified. I would be too. It must tear you up inside to know that you have been defeated by 400 high school students. Oh well, you can't win them all Carol. It's a shame Alcatraz is no longer functioning because im sure we could have found a nice cozy little cell for you.

p.s.- Is there a reason you still creep on Sacred Heart doings when your daughter graduated years ago? That's right, we know about your daughter. she graduated 6 years ago right? Regardless, you are an old woman picking fights with high schoolers. Congrats.

I would like to know what the English teacher (whether it be Scott Dalton - the teacher moderator of the school newspaper - or any other English teacher at Sacred Heart) said about the June issue of the newspaper where Sacred Heart School officially promoted the atheistic viewpoints of students at Sacred Heart? Was it simply a way for those poor abused atheists attending Sacred Heart to come out of the closet? Was it a Celebration of Ignoring the First Commandment Day at Sacred Heart?

The Sisters of Divine Nonsense are pathetic. What FRAUDS.

However, that would make sense wouldnt it? You're right it does. My mistake. I forgot sense is absent in your mind.

"We are half past give a shit what you think about this and that. We want our children taught our religion. Our whole religion and nothing but our religion so keep your ideas to yourself when you cross our thresholds."

See, the funny thing is, Carol, they aren't your thresholds. They're the thresholds of John Enos and the Sisters of Divine Providence. You are the one who should be respecting their viewpoints. (viewpoints shared by an overwhelming majority of the students and their families might I add)Not the other way around. Maybe Sacred Heart isn't conservative enough for you. I have no problem with that, find a school that is. But you have no right persecuting the viewpoints of a private institution and the students that attend it.

Terrorist? Yes. Patrick made threatening remarks regarding Carol's daughter, "That's right, we know about your daughter..." Straight out of The Godfather. Carol has every reason to feel threatened, and I hope she includes this in the ongoing police investigation.

Patrick, do your parents applaud your insolence, rudeness, and your threats to adults? It is sad to see that you have been given such a fraudulent education. The values-clarification approach you have been subjected to over many years now -- you don't know what I'm talking about, so look it up -- has brainwashed you (yes, Mr Free Thinker - your "open mind" is all in your imagination) makes you substitute feelings for rational thought. In other words, feelings validate your response. In this case, you feel hatred for Carol, and as you've been taught, your feelings are valid, so you are justified in hating her. Right? They taught you that, and I know it.

Christ taught us to love our enemies. But as you and others have noted, Sacred Heart school has taught you that you may reject Christ's teachings when you feel that you know better. This is the lie they taught you, and you know it, but are too cowardly to admit it.

Sad to say, but you will probably have to learn the hard way about issuing public threats. It's not too late, however, Mr Open Mind. Examine your conscience -- you remember that -- and get to confession. Then learn about the true Christ and His Church. Christ does not brainwash, but your teachers do. Learn about the brainwashing methods your teachers used on you. You have my prayers.

TTC said...

You are actually in error. Catholics own the word Catholic.

Sacred Heart is a Catholic School and as such, they agreed to uphold Catholic teaching and are under the obligation to fulfill that obligation. Legally.

I don't have to respect their viewpoints at all and they are in fact not entitled to scandalize the name Catholic.

You know what a copyright is, right? It's kinda sorta like a copyright.

If a Catholic school makes an agreement with the Bishop (as Sacred Heart has done) when they renege on their agreement and scandalize souls attracted to the name "Catholic" they are using/abusing the people to whom that name belongs - i.e, "Catholics", are justified and in fact obligated to stop the scandal.

Understood?

My Darling Carol,

I love you. PHEW. I deserve some credit for that, because it felt as though I were ripping out one of my fingernails with a rusty pair of calipers. But I digress.

I'm not sure where to start. I may need to break something else on/near my computer desk before I can physically control myself enough to type coherently. However I guess I will start with Alfred Kinsey- a wonderful man, if I do say so myself -You're doing a wonderful job of fabrication, but I am still waiting to see a concrete, unbiased (and that means no extremely right-wing politicians) source detailing Kinsey's hired rape and torture of thousands (or was it millions?) of children. That is my first request.

However, I'm going to do a little bargaining with you, darling: you give me concrete evidence and I'll give you this, just so we can be sure there aren't any secrets between us.

Homosexual Agenda
September 29, 2010

6:00- Get up, get dressed. Rape someone.

6:30- Head downtown to purchase a pound of crack/cocaine/heroin (whichever is most readily available) for the day's sales.

7:00- Head over to the LBGT headquarters to get a listing of possible recruits (preferrably young boys.)

8:00- Stop by the park to make some sales for the kiddies. (At least 12 grams.)

9:00- Meet with LGBT group to discuss homosexual agendas/ plan world domination.

10:00- Stop for a late lunch. Rape someone.

11:00- Stop by the mall to make some sales (at least half a pound). Kidnap any customers that show recruiting potential.

2:00- Pick up half a pound of product to replenish supply.

2:30- Stop for a late lunch. Rape at least three people.

3:30- Stop by the park to burn some bibles.

4:30- Head home, get changed to go out. Use spare time to work on "gay virus" research.

6:00- Head out with the gang, beat, kill and pillage at least twelve breeders.

8:00- Stop by the headquarters and discuss plans to infiltrate school systems by becoming teachers (preferrably kindergarten to 6th grade- easier to indoctrinate that way). Rape some prisoners.

10:00- Head home, write new day's schedule, send in profits to headquarters.

11:00- Watch Will and Grace. Take notes.

1:00- Head to bed. Feed prisoners.

I tried to get everything in there, but I've been busy lately so the schedule has changed. I really need to dedicate more time to bible burning...

I hope this shows you that I do not at all take what you say seriously. This is because my underdeveloped mind cannot comprehend your highly evolved intellect. I encourage you to get someone into my school to tell me why homosexuality is a sin. I would really enjoy destroying his logic, and then promptly leaving the premises.

And finally, I will warn you, my dear, that if you dare to twist the words of the amazing Katherine Hepburn just one more INCH towards the right, or left, or whever the heck you were going with it there (because I must say, from a literary perspective, it was a terribly weak device) I will pee. ALL over your lawn. Think about that.

PS- That shirt you're wearing in your profile picture? Horrible color for you, darling.

Love,
E.

Don't let this get lost in Patrick's very disturbing threat:

"Also, have you been slipping out the back door because you are afraid of what might happen if you are seen by students? My guess is that, yes, you are terrified. I would be too."

Anonymous said...

Obviously you have hit a nerve.

Sacred Heart is scared.

And they sure ought to be.

Any self-respecting Catholic would look at the people defending Sacred Heart's "tolerance" of the gay agenda and realize that obviously a Catholic formation of peaceful and caring individuals is not the tone that is being set at that school. You would be insane to send your kids there for a Catholic education. The kids coming out of Silver lake have more honor and respect than the kids commenting on this blog.

My guess is that if you check, the people defending the school's decision to print the article as some sort of free speech are commenting from places as far away as Pittsburgh, PA. You know where the grand pubah of the Sisters of divided propaganda live.

They are scared.

You hit a nerve.

It is all over the web and it is going to be the legacy of Sacred Heart.

How are they ever going to pay for that brand new empty pre-school-kindergarten building. That must be keeping them up at night.

Dear Carol,
I'm also a senior at Sacred Heart High School. I would just like to say that those whom you and your cult like followers call terrorists are what some of us call freedom fighters. Pat is like our forefathers, fighting for justice in the land of the red, white, and blue. The British called George Washington and Samuel Adams terrorists, the colonists called them freedom fighters. You are the British in this situation Carol, an oppressor of those of us that want to learn. Excuse us if we do not wish be brainwashed by insane fundamentalists like you. Excuse us for speaking to you like human beings and not like slaves to their master just because we are "children".
You can slander our teachers and our school all you want but you don't spend time there everyday. You don't interact with the people there. Don't act like you know what goes on in our school. You try to pervert and warp our school into something it isn't.
Why are you doing this Carol? Trying to make money off the amount of hits your blog gets? Trying to spread hate? Personally, I think it's a bit of both. One thing is for sure though, you're nothing but a megalomaniac. You aren't Jesus, you aren't a prophet, you aren't ordained. You're nothing but a pathetic woman who thinks she is speaking the truth when you're nothing but a hate monger. It's fundamentalists like you that murdered innocent people on 9/11. Christan fundamentalists, Muslim fundamentalists. It's the same thing, you're both unreasonable and full of hate. I hope you're proud of yourself.
Cordially,
A Sacred Heart Freedom Fighter

Let this stand as a witness to what kind of environment teachers and administration are creating at Sacred Heart.

n.b. Do I seem like the type to be intimidated by threatening conduct?

Can you get any sillier?

Do you know whether the Sisters of the Divine Providence were visited by Carl Jung in the past? Carl was the ultimate brainwasher, the Kinsey of the mind, of sorts. Here's an old Wanderer

Gay-Friendly Catholic said...

"When an adult find out that a student has revealed he 'found out he was a homosexual in the 7th grade' - this is a huge red flag for sexual abuse."

When was the first time you realized you were attracted to men, Carol? Was it when you had sex for the first time with your husband? Or was it walking through the hallways in middle school when you grew out of "cootie-phase" and thought boys were cute?

One does not need to have sex to know that they are homosexual. Puberty and hormones alert them to that, usually around... seventh grade or so.

Nor do they need to have sex to form a relationship with someone. Claiming that these children have had sex with everyone they "had a relationship with" is just like claiming every heterosexual high-school romance is based on sex. Which is clearly not the case.

The Church has accepted that homosexuality is not a choice, and not a sin if the person remains sexually chaste. You claim you're gay-friendly? Then stop preaching a "homosexual agenda". Those beliefs are NOT supported by the Catholic Church.

Anonymous said...

Gay Friendly Catholic states: "The Church has accepted that homosexuality is not a choice, and not a sin if the person remains sexually chaste."

THIS IS A FALSE STATEMENT.

The Church teaches that each male should accept his sexual identity as a man, and each female her sexual identity as a woman; and that means accepting that one is different from and complementary to – and equal in dignity with -- persons of the opposite sex (gender).

GFC just happened to forget, or intentionally left out of his/her false comment the fact that the Catholic church teaches the following:

Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.

The Catechism goes on to state that the "homosexual ... inclination ... is objectively disordered."

GFC, please tell me that you forgot to add this to your posting and not that you were intentionally trying to deceive people who are reading this blog?

TTC said...

f you meant to write an article where readers walk away with the conviction that the Sacred Heart article was trying to say Catholic schools aren't a safe places for chaste and celibate teenagers to come out of the closet, I just don't know what to say about your journalism career or your understanding of Catholicism.

Are you really aren't telling me it is your belief that Joe Nelson and the subjects of your article are over at Facebook posting about chastity and respect for Catholics and their theology, are you?

You've read what they're saying over at Facebook. You can't be ignorant and informed at the same time. If that is your idea of how people write when they're on the road to chastity and celibacy, I think I understand why a man tying children to tables and hiring pedophiles to abuse them didn't repulse you enough to exclude him as a moral resource for human sexuality.

The next thing you know, you'll ask us to swallow the infamous English teacher at Sacred Heart was sayin what a shame it is hateful Catholic idiots are so closed-minded about celibacy and offering his apologies.

The com boxes here are filled with closeted Sacred Heart celibates are they?

With all sincerity, I hope this is intellectual dishonesty and not something more serious.

Others may be too polite to tell you, but I am here to remind you that the authors slandered Catholics and the Catholic religion as hateful (as you too so cleverly do in your screed).

You wouldn't write an article saying Catholics hate the Jews and make a case for it because you know that you would be sewing seeds of discord between Catholics students and Jewish students. But you freely muck up relations between Catholics and homosexuals. There was a time we tried to care about knowing why you do such a thing but that time has passed and we are cleaning the stalls.

We are sick of it and it will stop.

Practicing Catholics don't have any other agenda except to expose the malice for practicing Catholics at Sacred Heart so that Catholic parents can make informed decisions.

It is here in the com boxes for all who have ears and eyes to see. We further are going to use the situation to hopefully engage the diocese to set some new policies in place. Stay tuned.

You may also find the following ideology of practicing Catholic idiots to be enlightening:

While homosexuality is not immutable, there are many unproven theories on sexual formation. Nobody but you lays claim to know that each child's libido is formed in the same ways so you are ahead of all the science and psychology known to mankind. No wonder Mr. Enos was mesmerized. What an honor it is for me to internet chat with you.

But, you have attributed some things to me which I actually did not say so let me take another stab at it.

Sexual abuse experts, psychologists, doctors and other professionals have been teaching that in some cases, children's latency period was hijacked by and convinced they were homosexuals because their bodies responded to erotica and physical touch of their much older abusers. One of the things mandated reporters should be doing is being on the lookout when a child is talking about sexuality at too early and ask more questions. Little do they know you had all the answers.

If you contact me via email, I will put you in touch with experts whom I am sure will want to set you right up with a 1-800 number so you can enlighten us all.

(I would give some very serious and prayerful thought to taking up writing about Catholic matters. You don't have the expertise in Catholicism, sexuality or the spiritual formation necessary. You have created a horrendous situation here for everyone concerned. )

Dear Carol,

Today in english class we had a quiz on our vocabulary unit for the week-pretty standard stuff-however I thought you would be interested to see some of the sentences I incorporated my vocabulary into (keep in mind these are the exact answers I gave):

4.) Deracinate-(v.) to pull up by the roots; root out, uproot, or dislocate: to eliminate all traces of.
Example: If I could deracinate one thing from society, it would be religions zealotry, namely that of Carol McKinley and her allies, and their steadfast hatred or homosexuality.

6.) Obfuscate-(v.) to darken or obscure; to confuse or bewilder.
Example: Carol McKinley has been doing much too good a job obfuscating the generally tolerant view of homosexuality to anyone of low enough intelligence to believe her.

Keep in mind, these are my own opinions, though I have no doubt you will call me indoctrinated. However, whatever you want to call it-indoctrinated, intelligent, irrefutable-I plan to spread MY knowledge to anyone who will listen. I plan to get as many people as I can informed about you and your friends, and who knows, I might just rustle up the money to start up an abortion mill in the process (I hear they're quite profitable these days).

If you're wondering who to report to the bishop, I'll save you the searching: my name is Evan Grande and I am also a senior at Sacred Heart. I hope that you're scared Carol, because I'm crazy, and I'm VERY VERY loud. I hope you've got your back exits marked, because I'm waiting for you. But worst of all, I'm having fun with you, Carol, and I don't plan to stop any time soon.

As Katherine Hepburn once said "Enemies are stimulating," I must say, Carol

you've got me all hot and bothered.

Dear Carol,
If someone is gay should they have been aborted? I'm sure you think so.

In response to you THEORY about people turning to homosexuality because of past abuses I just would like to say this:
Since you seem to love attention so much it would be right for me assume that you're acting this way because you have been neglected throughout your life. Is your husband ignoring you? He probably got bored of you. Do your children hate you and act distant? Did your mother always tell you you weren't good enough, pretty enough, smart enough? Always second best? This must be the case! Just look at you! Trying to gain attention and sympathy on the internet. It's pathetic and obviously the result of neglect.

See what I did there Carol? Twisted logic is disgusting isn't it?.
Before you go around saying i'm attacking your family, I wasn't. You're the one attacking other people's families. I have many gay/bi friends whose families would NEVER abuse them. You are an evil woman. I'll pray for you.
My names Olivia Brown and i'm another SHHS senior. Another "terrorist" for your list.

Also, for the record, Mr.Dalton is a great teacher. I wrote you a message but you didn't respond to it so i'll say it again. Slandering our school, the Sister of Divine Providence, and our teachers is despicable. Parents can back us up on this. My parents know exactly what type of a school Sacred Heart is which they are more than happy to pay for me to be educated there. Sacred Heart is a Catholic school that refuses to oppress it's students. Last time I checked, Carol, America was a country where freedom was valued and oppression was looked down upon. Too bad you don't seem intelligent enough to grasp this concept.

Another Sacred Heart celibate with respect for practicing Catholics.

Mr. Enos, the faculty of Sacred Heart and the Sisters of the Divine Providence - you are responsible for this in writing an article characterizing practicing Catholics as hateful to homosexuals.

And, they report you are behind the scenes calling practicing Catholics idiots, you are not taking these threats seriously and laughing about it with your students. You are protecting them after they threaten and identify themselves with no consequences whatsoever and it is calling more of them to be more bold.

Anonymous said...

Another Catholic with "respect" for others.

Bishop Dooher, Cardinal O'Malley, and the Archdiocese of Boston - you are responsible for this in allowing Carol to write an article characterizing practicing Catholics as hateful to homosexuals. (Notice how I didn't editorialize that last part.)

And you, Carol, are on the front lines calling homosexuals sinners. You are not listening to well-reasoned agruments but rather responding with hateful assumptions to students. You are indicting them after they speak their minds and identify themselves without fear, and it is calling more of them to be bold.

I figured if you can do some editorializing, why can't I?

Bishop Dooher, this is what happens when you allow your children to speak out and threaten as they wish. Perhaps you should tighten this one's leash.

Sincerely,
Evan Grande

Matt Pink said...

Carol,
I've suggested before that you take a closer look at the stories that you are so upset by in the Heart Beat. The paper never took a stance on Kinsey's research. It only stated that it exists to illustrate the point that the issue of homosexuality is one that has been with us for a while. Additionally, the profiles did not have an agenda. Joe Nelson asked students that were gay/bisexual and willing to talk about their sexuality how it felt being LGBT in a Catholic school. Their responses were recorded. To not publish them or to editorialize from a Catholic standpoint would have been irresponsible journalism either through censorship or bias. I think you're placing your focus in the wrong place. The profiles did reveal that there's a problem at Sacred Heart. If you're like me, then you are inclined to think the problem is a lack of tolerance and understanding regarding homosexuality. For someone like you, the problem is a lack of education of Church teaching. The real questions you should be asking are what Sacred Heart has done after having the feelings of these students revealed through the profiles. It was not the writing or publishing of the profiles that is the problem; it was merely an indicator of one. Since you do not attend or have any children enrolled in Sacred Heart, you cannot know what steps the Religion department and/or administrators have taken to rectify the problem, so I suggest you butt out. You are assuming an agenda that is not present in the article, and blaming the school for it. My personal feelings about your bigotry aside, you're fundamentally mistaken in your criticism. You should also keep in mind that some of the more hostile comments do not represent the majority of the Sacred Heart population. It's even possible that you're skewing it to look that way by only posting the particularly bad ones. But even if you aren't, it just happens that your blog is attracting these individuals, not that Sacred Heart is necessarily full of them. You need to get off your high horse and recognize that all this controversy you've created is built on faulty assumptions. This is my last post. I'm done trying to reason with you. I still strongly recommend that if you think the paper needs balance, you are alone in that thinking. Which is why the only way you'll achieve that is through a letter to the editor. I look forward to being able to publish your letter in the next issue of the paper. Have a nice life and please leave my school and my friends alone.

Dear Carol,

Evan, myself and all other members of the Sacred Heart community mean no physical harm to you or any of your cohorts. All we seek is justification and reasoning. We just see no basis for your argument and wish to see evidence on your side of the spectrum.
Also, what harm has been done by identifying ourselves? We have nothing to hide. We are simply in search of a compromise. However, it seems that we will never reach middle ground. In that regard, I feel that it is best that both sides agree to disagree. You are set in your ways and we are set in ours. No absurd amount of arguing will solve a disagreement about fundamentals such as this.
I have talked to my fellow students and we have agreed to stop posting on this blog and to let you write what you want without opposition. We hope that, in effect, you and other conservative Catholics posting on this blog will also keep whatever they have to say to themselves. So, this should be the last you hear of Sacred Heart students. We'll do our thing and you do yours. End of story.

Sincerely,
Patrick.

Mrs. McKineley,

I was present in the class when the English teacher made the remarks and I can tell you that most students were not the least bit amused.

Mr. Enos is not taking any punitive measures against the religious bigotry and bullying because the students posting threats are members (and graduate members) of Sacred Heart's prestigious Speech and Debate Team as well as the Heartbeat Staff (Joe Nelson, Evan Grande, Matt Pink, and Emily Barry).

You may want to print off these comments and contact whoever is in charge of the ethics commission of High School Speech and Debate Teams.

I have printed off some of their facebook messages and dropped them in the mail to you.

The evidence of how they conduct their "speech and debate" on your blog and on Facebook should be enough to disqualify Sacred Heart from participating in future events.

There are many students and families who are supporting and praying for you.

I don't think so.

With the terrorizing and threats I received yesterday, you this compromise is simply not good enough anymore. You tell Mr. Enos it is too little/too late.

Carole,

I read this sentence a few times and I still don't know what it means:

"I have talked to my fellow students and we have agreed to stop posting on this blog and to let you write what you want without opposition. We hope that, in effect, you and other conservative Catholics posting on this blog will also keep whatever they have to say to themselves."

Does this say they have agreed to 'let us' write what we want in the hopes we keep whatever they have to say to ourselves?

What are these limitations?

Catholic Evangelization is not to take place at Sacred Heart or other Catholic schools, parishes and communities?

It almost feels like they cyberstalked and threatened you as a warning to other Catholics. And, now, they are putting the limitations on where we can talk about Catholic teachings - they're not to be spoken about anywhere other than Carol McKinley's blog.

Is this some kind of a veiled threat to keep the teachings of the Catechism on homosexuality out of Sacred Heart school?

TTC said...

If you follow the logic (certainly not an easy thing to do),according to one of the Sacred Heart editors, the article was about Sacred Heart being a place where students do not feel safe enough to come out of the closet to practice chastity. They have evidently been told that Catholics are closed-minded about celibacy and chastity. Could be true given the conduct in these com boxes.

If this is the case, the fix is in: Bringing in COURAGE and EnCOURAGE to let them know they have been lied to about the Catholic Church hating them and assist them out of the closet.

n. b. I did a Google and verified that the names are indeed part of the Sacred Heart Speech and Debate Team.

Outrageous.

Observer, I concur. They're not sorry. They haven't done anything wrong, in their minds. These poor kids have received nothing but affirmation for all their lives. I'll bet that some of their parents even buy them prophylactics. And their principal and some teachers aid and abet their criminal behavior.

But they are a bit nervous, or they'd still be spitting venom. Carol has the opportunity now to give them something they haven't received from their parents or teachers: discipline. If no one is willing to tell these kids "no" and back it up with force, they're going to end up in Hell. A little jail time and / or probation might sober them up enough to straighten out. It could be their last chance to repent.

Mr. Enos, you deserve to be removed for failing to discipline these children. You are covering for felony cyber-stalking, not to mention encouraging hate speech by your inaction. When we hear of a cyber-bully event in your school, we will be sure to tell the reporters that you have a history of inaction in student cyber crime. Then you might get to join your young villains in jail.

Matt Abbott has done a follow-up article about the situation:

Catholic blogger and mother Carol McKinley is being threatened by certain male students who attend Sacred Heart School in Kingston, Mass. And they're doing so online.

Why? Because Carol is not afraid to criticize the school for not forming its students in authentic Catholic teaching, particularly in regard to homosexuality.

I covered the situation in my Sept. 22 column.

I'm absolutely appalled by this turn of events, and it seems the offending students have no fear of being disciplined by the school, as evidenced by their vile comments on Carol's blog.

One comment, made by student Evan Grande, states (excerpted):

'...If I could deracinate one thing from society, it would be religions zealotry [sic], namely that of Carol McKinley and her allies, and their steadfast hatred or [sic] homosexuality....I plan to get as many people as I can informed about you and your friends, and who knows, I might just rustle up the money to start up an abortion mill in the process (I hear they're quite profitable these days). But worst of all, I'm having fun with you, Carol, and I don't plan to stop any time soon....'

Another comment, made by a student who identifies himself as Patrick, states:

'My name is Patrick and I am a senior at Sacred Heart High School. You may remember me from that time you stalked my facebook...I thought you might. Anyway, in no way, shape, or form is this issue centered around the 'adults.' This is between the students and you ignorant humans called conservative catholics. I am seventeen years old and am perfectly capable of forming my own opinions, so please stop implying that kids my age are lower than you on the food chain. We both know that you are at the bottom with convicts and criminals.

'In regards to Mr. It's a shame Alcatraz is no longer functioning because im [sic] sure we could have found a nice cozy little cell for you.

'p.s.- Is there a reason you still creep on Sacred Heart doings when your daughter graduated years ago? That's right, we know about your daughter. she graduated 6 years ago right? Regardless, you are an old woman picking fights with high schoolers. Congrats.'

But Carol isn't picking fights with high school students. Nor are the other concerned parents. They're objecting to the actions — and inaction — of school officials.

I should point out that Carol did not ask me to write this follow-up column. I'm simply disgusted that such thuggish behavior is apparently tolerated, if not encouraged, by certain officials at Sacred Heart School. As we know, some teenagers are more than capable of committing heinous crimes. Such threats must be taken seriously.

Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us.

Thank you for your courage, Carol. I really think you should report these venemous threats to the police. The actions of these alleged students fits the legal definition of assault.

Apparently they have not learned at an appropriate age that there are consequences for actions. Please take their threats seriously. There have been enough incidents to show that unhappy and unstable young people can be violent. There's also a strong connection between homosexuality and violence. In fact most crimes against gays are committed by other gays. Take their threats seriously and report them.

TTC said...

Thanks all.

I know many homosexuals and they are the gentle and kind people. I think it's a media distortion to say they experience any more violence in relationships than heterosexuals do. In fact, I believe there is probably much more violence in hetero relationships.

People telling me they're sitting in front of their computers with such rage they're breaking things and boldly telling me they're going pee on my lawn, they're watching my back door and I better be scared - etc - I am taking these threats very, very seriously. Sometimes police actions can put you in a worse position. At the very least, these children do not belong in a Catholic school. Catholics are not safe with these thugs on campus. I appreciate the prayers for all involved.

Their rage was fueled by the adults in the situation. It is incredulous that the principal and teachers did not own up to their error in letting an article be published that paints Catholics as hateful.

They long ago should have sat these children down to explain to them many things they misunderstand about Catholics and the Catholic religion:

That the teachings of the Catholic Church apply to everyone regardless of who and what and how many each of us are attracted to, that these teachings must be promulgated so Catholic children will learn our religion is about staying in a state of grace and how to discipline their libidos.

That there is nothing shameful for non-Catholics who do not want to follow these teachings but these teachings must and will be taught because Catholic schools are for and filled with Catholic children.

They should have been told there actually is no room to teach Catholic children what anyone else "thinks" who rejects Catholicism and the teachings of the Church.

The fact that the adults let this situation go on like this since May and then this week were behind the scenes calling Catholics hateful, closed-minded idiots and letting them there will be no discipline for their actions is grounds for termination in a Catholic school in my opinion.

Carol,
Stop.
You antagonized a school based on your impulsive and ignorant thoughts on a reasonable newspaper article. You should have read it more thoroughly, but you didn't. Because of your position as a Catholic thinker FAR to one side of the spectrum, you published an angry blog not once, but twice (you should have seen the second one coming) and you incited the brash anger of multiple teenagers. Teenagers that felt like they were being oppressed by a religious zealot and simply were not going to take it. Now, they weren't being oppressed, but you were twisting a lot. Lately, you have been acting like a victim. You publish maaany positive and supporting comments and have published none of my three. By doing this, you add to the victim campaign. You brought this upon yourself, Carol. And now you need to end it. Just take the blog down. Stop attacking a school and fabricating extreme claims, and for the dear love of God, learn more about your religion. You started this, Carol. Your own impulsive ignorance started this. It's time to take the action to stop it.

To all you cowardly anonymous posters:

Please be advised that making online threats is a criminal act in most states and may be actionable in court. And if you think those brave teachers you are defending will help you out when the cops show up at your house, you're dreaming. They are using you as pawns to defend their jobs. Frankly, they have no business teaching in a Catholic school and should be FIRED immediately.

And just so you know--I grew up in a school environment quite similar to that which you are experiencing right now. The professors in my supposedly Catholic high school were all too often anti-Catholic to the hilt. I didn't realize until much later, that these instructors did me a grave disservice by not teaching me the Truth of the Catholic faith. I was cheated. My parents were cheated. And it's sad for me to see that YOU are being cheated even now after all that has happened with the homosexual abuse scandals.

I pray that you will be able to step back and understand what's really happening here. Don't you find it odd that you are learning to hate Catholicism in a Catholic school? Think--why would professors at a Catholic school hate the Church's teachings so much?

THINK! Don't let them brainwash you! You are being used and cheated and you don't even realize it!

I suspect you are a child and you are not going to understand what I am going to say but this needs to be stated for the record.

Under no circumstances am I going to allow anyone to pin any of this on me.

The teachers, principal and the Sisters of the Divine Providence are robbing Catholic children of their faith. They allowed the publication of an article that not only painted practicing Catholics and the Catholic teachings as bigoted, closed-minded and hateful, the entire premise of the article was that the teachings on homosexuality are antiquated and oppressive and they hope in the future that opinions that reject these teachings will shape the opinions of everyone in the school and community.

The students have made clear here that not only are the teaches NOT teaching Catholic doctrine as the sound tool for salvation, they are teaching that our doctrine is idiotic and closed-minded.

In case the consequences of this are unclear to you, this means that Catholic parents who send or have sent their child to Sacred Heart are in the position of knowing they either have to pull their children out (and some have) or they have to stand up to this article so that the tuition they busting their backsides to pay so that their kids will be given the tools for the rest of their life to discipline their own will and mold it to the Will of God for them.

This is what Catholics send their Catholic children to Catholic school for.

If we let the school's guidance stand unopposed, our children lose the tools for their own salvation.

All practicing Catholics have at one time or another rebelled against a teaching of the Church and had strong emotions when a priest or nun or teacher tried to tell us that we would be rejected by God and deprived of Heaven.

Though heterosexuals are none too happy about the teaching that sexuality outside of the Sacrament of marriage is among those teachings - most of us learned how to discipline our libido and use the Sacraments of Confession and the Eucharist to snuff out our own sexual attractions. The intellectual dishonesty of those defending the article is that our sexual attractions are not sexual and do not lead to sex.

To dispense with this absurdity, I wrote an article which was directed at the faculty and the Sisters of the Divine Providence and the heretics they hired as teachers who are slandering and maligning Catholics that equated the bad theology in the article to other teachings people tend to reject.

This was a caricature of their bad theology. I have ever right to write the opinion and article, even if that article is using sarcasm to prove a point, and be treated with respect.

TTC said...

..continued:

The student who wrote the article used Facebook to cook up some unbridled rage in the student body and alumni.

All the school ever had to do was tell the students that they will be expelled if they continue on.

Those students were not only permitted to continue on without consequence by the administration of the school since May, the faculty this week poured gasoline on their fire. In doing so and in being told they will face no consequence, they felt perfectly safe to escalate the threats of violence and put their names on it.

Patrick summarizes their conduct in his exit strategy by summarizing it is the hopes of these individuals that we keep our opinions to ourselves.

I will remind you that in this thread, one student posts a 'dare' to any teacher who teaches the moral theology of the Catholic Church that they will be treated to the rage you see in these com boxes.

This is not a situation where these students can remain in a Catholic school because the Catholics children of Catholic families who want and need the school to teach moral theology are now in the position of knowing what they will get while these students are poised in their chairs at Sacred Heart.

This may well infect other schools and our ability to teach our religion will be toast.

I would give some prayerful thought to any teacher or any faculty member or nun from the Sisters of the Divine Providence or principal try to try blame parents of students or alumni for the treatment we received for responding to this article with their opinions.

This is another intimidation tactic that is not going to fly. What you are trying to do is say that if parents respond to similar situations, they will upset the children writing the article and be responsible for the behavior of undisciplined children being told they are hated by the faculty of the school.

If we let that fly, then parents will not feel safe to publicly respond to situations such as this one.

We must vehemently reject it.

Mrs. McKinley,
It's Sunday morning. Enjoy your toast.

And - a p.s. to any student reading who is struggling or feeling bad about themselves because of the teachings of the Church.

We have been in your shoes many times when we wanted to believe that the teachings of the Catholic Church are oppressive and hurtful. Some Catholics struggle with various teachings or our own wills and emotions about how these make us feel, daily.

You are not unique. You are not hated, even if you reject these teachings and want to go on doing you own thing.

You must understand that Catholics do not want to load up our schools with people who want avoid public schools and use their presence to then tell Catholics their teachings are oppressing them and they want to shape the culture inside of our schools to silence Church teaching.

Catholics cannot permit this to happen because we have the right and duty to protect the precious inheritance of our faith and pass it on to our children.

We welcome all but we expect that if you reject our teachings but still want to come to Catholic schools, that you do not use your presence in our schools to shape our culture to your opinions.

This is our constitutional right to practice our faith freely.

You should also be free to go the adults and have your feelings pastorally cared for and about. The answer to the situation was definitely not what the adults did in this situation.

Anyone who handles your presence with bullying should be reported.

Your rage has been fueled by spiritually and intellectually immature adults. Do not buy into it. They are clueless about Catholicism and Catholics and the situation is dangerous to all.

Ms. McKinley,

I happened across this story and am dumbfounded at the degree of hypocrisy among your detractors. One lonely voice courageously defending the teachings of the ancient church, and suggesting that a Catholic School ought to teach the faith, and in response the most vile hatred and vitriol one can imagine.

And this from the self-proclaimed enlightened progressive left. Keep up the good work and remember what one close-minded, viscous, hate-monger once said: "if the world hates you, remember, it hated Me first."

May I suggest the intercession of a great advocate, St. John Bosco. He once dealt with such insolence and hatred, and responded as you have, with grace and truth on his side.

My prayers are with you.

Sincerely,

Supporter,

Thank you for your words of support and your prayers.

The audacity of telling us we can expect death threats if we speak in the public square about errors being taught to Catholic children is simply breathtaking.

They wouldn't get away with it telling a member of any other religion the death threats are justified and it is high time we step up to the plate and not let them get away with it with Catholics.

This situation is outrageous.

Carol,

I just read your post on the June thread, about being fearful in your own home. That's enough, right? This isn't about restraining orders. This is stalking. You're going to call the Attorney General's office, right? If Coakley's office won't listen, call Senator Brown. I'm dead serious.

Maybe the kids' English teacher would like to include this lesson for tomorrow:

Felony (n) 1. an offense, as murder or burglary, of graver character than those called misdemeanors, esp. those commonly punished in the U.S. by imprisonment for more than a year.

Abetting (v) to encourage, support, or countenance by aid or approval, usually in wrongdoing: to abet a swindler; to abet a crime.

The stalkers will be arrested, not just restrained. The teachers will be investigated. You will be safe.

I'm serious. God bless you.

Wicked funny ... Carol, Do you realize that you just pulled a BUGS BUNNY on these "debate team" geniuses.

Remember when Bugs Bunny would get his opponent into an argument and say: No I don't, Yes you do,
No I don't yes you do,
No I don't, yes you do, and
then he would switch it on them and he would say, yes you do
and all of a sudden by instinct the opponent would say "No I don't" (forgetting his original argument which was "yes you do.").

Well, these debate team geniuses just did that and they are not bright enough to even realize it.

They originally write an article that kids are afraid, frightened, terrified to come out of the closet at Sacred Heart because it is allegedly the most hateful, unwelcoming place in the world (think NO YOU DON'T). Then they prove by through their actions and temper tantrums that Sacred Heart is not the fightening place that they claim it is (think YES YOU DO). In fact Sacred Heart is a VERY TOLERANT, indeed, an aggressively progressive Catholic school. They get so dizzy in the argument that one of them makes the claim that "Sacred Heart is a Catholic school that refuses to oppress it's students."

They literally have chosen the exact opposite side of the argument from the one they started by writing the original article in the student newspaper.

Are these people idiots? Or did they simply have an agenda to bring homosexuality out into the open at Sacred Heart in order to force it down the throats of decent Catholics who stupidly are attempting to get a "Catholic" education at a "Catholic" school. They really have no idea what fools they have made of themselves.

I love a speech and debate team that hasn't the wherewithal to understand that they have made an argument that directly contradicts their original point. Idiots!

Jerry,

Thanks again for your support and especially your prayers.

I think I'm going to call a few priests, Bishops and Catholic lawyers but here's where I am with it tonight:

With Hehir and Connors in control of what is happening, we are at the beginning of what may be a lively tea party.

What I definitely don't want to do is focus a drama on my own personal safety. I'm not sure woe is Carol is good leadership.

People's attention needs to be focused on the real problem, which is we have hoodlums who have made it clear if the teachings of the Church are expressed in Catholic schools or we correct any of the errors they teach Catholic children, one day when we least expect it, we'll be going out our back door and they will harm or even kill us. We have a principal of the Catholic school who has tolerated and supported their thuggery.

The fix isn't about protecting Carol. It's about protecting the deposit of faith.

These are my thoughts tonight. We'll see where the Lord wants me to go with it.

p.s.

I can't thank everyone enough for the prayer. I feel calm tonight and surrounded.

False dichotomy, girl. Likely you'd do best to do both. And St. Ignatius wasn't talking about threats of physical harm.

Wow, I found out about this story thanks to the website www.realclearreligion.com. I'm appalled at the vile comments some of these so-called "catholic" (or just even "christian") students, parents and teachers have left on your blog. Carol, I have only one say to you. Remember the words of Jesus recorded in John 15:18-19. These apply to you: "If the world hate you, know ye, that it hath hated me before you. If you had been of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you."

On the other hand, the words of Jesus that apply to these fallen-away "catholics" who can't bear your words are the ones found on John 8:41-45: "You do the works of your father. They said therefore to him: We are not born of fornication: we have one Father, even God. Jesus therefore said to them: If God were your Father, you would indeed love me. For from God I proceeded, and came; for I came not of myself, but he sent me: Why do you not know my speech? Because you cannot hear my word. You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and he stood not in the truth; because truth is not in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof. But if I say the truth, you believe me not."

One last thing and EVEN MORE IMPORTANTLY. Please remember the words found on 2 Timothy 3-5: "For there shall be a time, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears: And will indeed turn away their hearing from the truth, but will be turned unto fables. But be thou vigilant, labour in all things, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill thy ministry."

God bless you Carol!

I live in Indiana but came across this story via sanctepater.com. Please know that you have my prayers. I struggle living under the shadow of The Dome where I have had to witness countless abuses in the name balanced education. The fact that a school (or a university) calls itself Catholic, sadly, doesn't always mean they're Catholic. I pray that what is happening at Sacred Heart School will be a wake up call for ALL of us!

Remember I asked about Carl Jung and the Sisters of Divine Providence? Well, no surprise. Check out the list of presenters at the Sisters' "Kearns Spirituality Center" for 2008 and 2010. In 2008, one speaker is trained in Jungian psychology and the Enneagram. This year, Lora Dambrowski, OSF, comes from the Jung Institute in Zurich, and is past president of LCWR.

This "spirituality" is like shooting heroin at a Jimi Hendrix and Ozzy Osbourne concert.

Jerry said...

Just a bit more on the Sisters and Jung. Along with the Wanderer article on Jung, I found this article that bridges from Jungian psychotherapy into the non-directive psycho-conditioning method of Carl Rogers, another prominent destroyer of Catholic religious orders. The article is written by a true believer, a space cadet of the highest rank. It starkly reveals the total abandonment of reality in both Jung and Rogers.

For my point here, let me provide the following quotes from the article.

"I think that men and women, individually and collectively, are inwardly and organismically rejecting the view of one single and culture-approved reality. I believe that they are moving inevitably towards the acceptance of millions of separate, challenging, exciting, informative, individual perceptions of reality." (Rogers)

"For the client, this optimal therapy would mean an exploration of increasingly strange and unknown and dangerous feelings in himself..." (Rogers)

"Reading Rogers confirmed me in my sense that what really mattered in teaching was the immediacy of what was happening. I accepted the obvious truth of his assertion that the content that children pick up in their schooling is far less important than the processes by which they pick it up, that what matters is that they learn to adapt creatively to the future, rather than learn to repeat the past."

The latter point cannot be overemphasized. Education is about the process, not the content -- a process leading them into introversion, into their own self-defined reality. Although the quotes are from Rogers, the concepts are fully consistent with Jung. It is not at all compatible with the Catholic faith.

Because the Sisters subject themselves to Jungian methods, it is imperative that NO ONE entrust his child to them for anything. These Sisters should not be allowed within 100 yards of any school.

Wow,Jerry. That's something.

I can't say too much but I can tell you that various interested parties at the Archdiocese have been trying to get a hold Sacred Heart's principal, Mr. John Enos since Friday. But, Mr. Enos is holed up in the bunker protecting the bullies, refusing to call the Archdiocese back.

When you lose control of your diocese, many dangerous situations develop. People who have no fear about harming others take victims in a culture where discipline and accountability gives way to protecting thugs.

That is all I can say at this time. More on this later (as you can imagine!)

Meanwhile, remember Michael Reardon of the "Catholic School Foundation" (which he actually told me has nothing to do with the Catholic Church)?

http://www.ncregister.com/blog/grant_official_threatens_catholic_schools_over_lesbian_case

I had an interesting conversation with him that will also forthcoming.

A substantive update will have to wait for a little later - - but over the weekend, somebody drove up into the incline in front of my house and took down a 6 -7 foot pine tree.

They would have had to take great care to cross the curb, drive across the sidewalk, drive up the incline about five feet, take down the tree and drive back over the sidewalk and into the street.

It is far from irrational to suspect one of these kids are carrying out their threats.

Kinsey paid my father to rape me

WASHINGTON – A victim of sexologist Alfred Kinsey's "research" during the 1940s is coming forward with the stunning claim that her father was paid by Kinsey, universally regarded as the "father of the sexual revolution," to rape her and then report to him on the attacks.

Nearly 70 years after being molested repeatedly by her own father, "Esther White" (a pseudonym) is speaking out in hope of prompting Congress to investigate the controversial research. White said she would be willing to testify in person on Capitol Hill if an investigation results in opening the Kinsey Institute files to public scrutiny.

"He was giving me orgasms and timing it with a stopwatch," White told WND. "I didn't like it, I went into convulsions, but he didn't care. He said all little girls do this with their daddies, they just don't talk about it."

White was 7 when her father began abusing her.

"There's no question that Kinsey broke a number of laws and conspired to break a number of laws to conduct his faux research," said Matt Barber, a law professor and associate dean at the Liberty University School of Law.

Kinsey's 1948 and 1953 books on human sexual behavior contain tables of information about sexual responses in children as young as 2 months old. Several tables record how long the children needed to be stimulated to achieve "orgasm," and others record how many orgasms the children achieved in given periods of time.

Esther White's data would have been used for this table in Kinsey's first book, though the book focused on male sexual behavior
"Kinsey was not a legitimate scholar. He was not objective," said Janice Crouse, Ph.D., the head of the Beverly LaHaye Institute, the think tank at Concerned Women for America. "Instead, he found people who could produce the results he wanted. ... He was very interested in changing the sexual mores. ... He believed any sex act between consenting adults and even children was acceptable, even healthy." Kinsey and his researchers are widely credited with having redefined sexual morality in America.

"Esther White"
White said Kinsey "enticed" her grandfather, who became a personal friend of Kinsey while studying at Indiana University, to participate in the research, and that her grandfather in turn recruited two of his sons to molest their own daughters for Kinsey. She described Kinsey as "insane," "evil" and "Satan incarnate."

White says her father and grandfather were paid by Kinsey and that Kinsey was aware of what her father was doing to her. She recalls that her father filmed some of those sessions and sent the home movies to Kinsey. She also witnessed Kinsey handing her grandfather a check.
