Mayor Marty Walsh and Boston Catholics' St. Patrick's Day Parade

“As mayor, I feel like I should use my influence.”

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh has announced he will not march in our Catholic St. Patrick's Day Parade because Catholic veteran organizers will not violate their religion and allow homosexual sex themes into the parade.

Cry us a river.

It is our Catholic Feast Day. A celebration of an Irish Catholic Saint in a city where a large population of Irish once immigrated and lived.

The day is about the honor of serving God's people as policeman, fireman, our military and every other avocation. It is about our religion, food culture, our music and our dance.

The day and parade belongs to Irish Catholics and the edicts of our doctrine require resisting attractions to sin.

We've had numerous problems over the years with plebeians who think the day is about acting crude and marching drunks. Dodging them has become increasingly difficult.

The Mayor's use of his political power to foist taking pride in attractions to homosexual sex as some kind of parade theme for our Irish Catholic feast day is beneath contempt.

After all, the mayors of Boston have never tried to use their political influence to interject 'gay pride' into ramadan and the muslims are executing homosexuals all over the world.

Boston's Mayors have never tried to ram 'gay pride' into cultural Chinese celebration of their new year.

I think we know the reason why City Hall has never tried to foist it on our Catholic feasts in Boston's Italian North End (the mafia)!

Our friend CJ Doyle at the Catholic Action League is speaking out against Marty Walsh's insidious and inappropriate use of power to pressure a religious group into violating their own religion on their Catholic feast day.

The Catholic League called Mayor Martin J. Walsh’s intervention “an attempt to impose a radically discordant message, entirely inappropriate to the celebration of Boston’s principal patron saint.”

“The feast of St. Patrick commemorates the bishop and confessor through whom an entire people, in one lifetime, were converted from paganism to the Catholic and apostolic faith,” the statement said. “Mayor Walsh’s efforts, if successful, would destroy the traditional character of the parade, empty it of its original meaning, and reduce it to a secular community festival, devoid of any religious significance.”

Maybe Marty Walsh should use his influence to enter floats for every kind of attraction to licentiousness.

We could have a float for unmarried people sleeping around. We'd need a lot of lumber and a couple of hundred flatbed trucks for that one.

What about a float for people cheating on their spouse? We could dress them up like leprechauns if they didn't want to come out of their closets.

Mary Walsh could organize a whole section of fornicators for Éirinn go Brách.

Even if the man can't bring himself to respect the Catholic religion and those devoted their heritage, there is a Constitution that forbids him from this very thing.

It is dishonorable.

n.b. Don't look for a quote from our Irish Cardinal. He isn't using his influence to save Irish Catholic families from their political tormentors. You won't find anything on his blog saying Marty Walsh is doing irreparable harm to the communion of the faithful and is a disservice to the Catholic Church.

The Mass Catholic Conference is also hiding under their desks.

When their own people are being driven off of the cliff and they don't call or answer their phone - you'll know its them.

I agree with all you've said here. But maybe Marty and "his long time girlfriend" are going to be away on some warm Island at the time and he's just using this as an excuse that is politically correct?

TTC - You have taken my thoughts and expressed them well.

God save us from our so-called leaders!!

I suspect they will get into the parade and then let loose with some show of "Pride" to embarrass the organizers. Getting into the St. Patrick's Day Parade has long been an objective.

Margery Eagen pens an almost weekly screed against the Church. The woman is beyond bizarre. Contrast her anti-Church mania with her yearly "Boston Fetish Convention" celebratory column. There are very few women who openly cheerlead for perversion but Marge is one.

Don't forget the resident anti-Catholic bigot at the Globe, Imperial Kleagle Kevin Cullen.

Kev isn't a even a nominal Catholic, he's an Orangeman, but obsesses about Irish Catholicism on both sides of the Atlantic. He's the Left's version of Ian Paisley. A more "ritualistic liberal" has never been discovered in the wild. Kev is so predictable in his knee-jerk liberalism he even bores your run of the mill moonbat. His column today, predictably, equates the St. Pat's parade to a reflection of a Nuremberg rally circa 1936.
