Cardinal Burke Outlines Formal Correction of Pope

This Cardinal is like a St. Athinasius.

In a new interview, Cardinal Raymond Burke has said it is “now necessary” that a declaration be issued on key areas of Church doctrine that are “not clear” in Pope Francis’ teachings.

The Holy Father will then be “obliged to respond” in order to bring clarification to those teachings, he said.
The cardinal told The Wanderer newspaper Aug. 14 that such a formal act of correction has not been invoked “for several centuries” and until now it has never been used “in a doctrinal way.”

But he said it would be “quite simple” and involve presenting on the one hand the “clear teaching of the Church” and on the other “what is actually being taught by the Roman Pontiff.” The teaching in question in particular relates to doctrinal matters published in the Pope's 2016 apostolic exhortation, Amoris laetitia.

“If there is a contradiction, the Roman Pontiff is called to conform his own teaching in obedience to Christ and the Magisterium of the Church,” the cardinal explained, adding that a “formal declaration” would be submitted to the Holy Father to which he would be “obliged to respond.”

I'm not familiar with canonical law in this situation, so I'm not sure what he means by 'obliged' and what will happen next if he does not respond. Let's face it. The Holy Father is 'obliged' to teach and preserve the Deposit of Faith and he certainly is not doing it.

The only response thus far has been passive-aggressive homilies implying Catholics asking him to correct the confusion he has imposed upon people we love are scum. After this article, I'll be watching Rome this weekend for another round of homilies loaded with insults. Bloggers ought to have plenty of material by Monday morning.

“These are the points that are not clear in the current teachings of the Roman Pontiff; therefore, this situation must be corrected. The correction would then direct itself principally to those doctrinal points,” he said.

The cardinal, a former prefect of the Apostolic Signatura, the Church’s highest court, did not give a timeframe for the correction, but hinted at its urgency by stressing that the Church is “being torn asunder right now by confusion and division” and that unity is at stake.

“The Holy Father must be called on to exercise his office to put an end to this,” he said.

Let's keep this in our prayers!

"This Cardinal is like a St. Athanasius." Let us pray that this be so.

If anyone actually thinks that P. Francis will respond, I would remind them that the Brooklyn Bridge is for sale once again.

I agree 1000% JBQ! A dollar to donuts Francis keeps mum on the 'formal correction' if indeed it is ever delivered. Francis will just continue with his Stalin like oppression on the faithful, both faithful clergy and laity, and even push the petal to the metal. If the Cardinals actually think they are going to 'correct' all the dissent that Francis has been teaching with a 'formal correction'......foget about it! A formal correction I am afraid will only serve to solidify a 'formal schism'. Francis has stacked the deck with too many Cardinals and Bishops that are as determined to destroy true Catholicism as he is! Ain't no way, no how that this guy is going to back down and teach the true faith. Just ain't gonna happen, so hang on to your hats! It looks like the party is just getting started. Pray the ROSARY!!!

I've given up hope for this Pope. I certainly pray for him and his holy soul, and how he will face his judgment.

What I am trying to reflect on thoughtfully at this point is that Cardinals like Sean O'Malley and other leftists will have at least one more opportunity in their lifetimes/careers to select still another Pope. I don't believe Francis was a prayerfully chosen Pope - he was the choice of politicking.

I am not despairing, but saddened that we have to bear witness to the continued struggles of the Church - She will rise again, but it's evident the purge will be fierce and prolonged. Decades of corruption and rot can't be debrided overnight.

Carol, on an entirely different note, I suggest you read this pronto and act on it.

Regrettably Cardinal Burke is NOT what you think he is Carol.

#1 He gave his blessing to a transgendered male to start a woman's religious Order as Bishop of Madison ,Wisconsin. When a parishioner wrote to him to alert him of the fact he ignored her .She then wrote to the Papal Nuncio who got in touch with the then Bishop Burke. The Bishop then made sure she was a persona non grata in every parish.

#2 After the brutal murder of Fr Kunz who was investigating on his Catholic radio show
perverted satanic clerical cults in Chicago , Burke surprised even the police when he showed up and removed Fr Kunz's files. ( related to me by a woman who spoke with the Detective on the scene).

#3 Read about his posh pad in Vatican City in Nuzzi's book " Merchants in the Temple" ,at a time when the Pope has been trying to curb the Vatican's loss of revenues.

#4 Perhaps this will give one an idea of his spending habits and the fact Burke as Bishop showed zero compassion to victims of clergy abuse in his Diocese.

Cdl Burke .........I know this tactic very well because it is straight out of the Regnum Christi playbook and was a committed act of lying theft towards almost every grass root Catholic home school support group across the country ! Get the mailing list and change the title of their Newsletter just a little bit. Burke knew Maciel and the LC /RC very well and he, like Regnum Christi ( to quote Fr Hardon's softer catholic PC description of them ) are a
bunch of." malicious tricksters".
If you think Burke is one of the "good ones: please think again.

"Coming from an organization that excitedly praises a Cardinal (Raymond Burke) who is spreading a fake Fatima Message, this is effrontery at its finest."

I hadn't known about Cardinal Burke's past. Hmm.. But, on another note, just passing the word around a little........Cardinal Caffarra died this morning (the 2nd Dubia Cardinal to die in two months). Edward Pentin reported and the article is on the National Catholic Register's site. Another 'Hmmm'......and then there were two.
