The Tenth Crusade
A blog for rabbits.
The Tenth Crusade
I would hope that would do it too. It's one thing for him to spout whacky personal opinions. It's quite another to talk of tampering with the catechism.
False Prophet forerunner of the anti-christ. The 'anti-John the Baptist' if you will.
If he can get away with Amoris, he can get away with anything--and he knows it.
My thoughts too Justina. He may just be too smart to get caught up in formal Heresy.
Killing sinners has never been a doctrine. In fact, for the first 300 years of the Church, Catholics were very much against the death penalty. It's simply a non-dogmatic magisterial teaching. Therefore, it can be done away with.
Good luck on anyone in N.O. land giving a crap. Most of the bishops don't know the True Faith, and if they do, don't give a sh*t. Hence, Bergoglio knows he can do whatever he wants.
David please provide a few references on your comment of "1st 300 years".
David,What are you talking about?!!First, the Church's teaching on the death penalty are not in the context of 'killing sinners'. It's an extension of Church teaching on the sanctity of life and salvation of a soul with instructions on how to make a judgment on the best ways to protect the common good from a murdering sociopath. More importantly, I confess that I have no idea how you came to the conclusion that Church teaching on how the sanctity of life as it relates to the death penalty as defined in the Catechism is not revealed truth. You didn't read that on Mark Shea's blog did you? LMBO. Please explain. The substance of a Divinely-revealed Truth can't change. We can tweak the way we explain it, as has been done in our history but the actual substance of the Truth remains the same, clear and conveyed. (I don't think we've done a service to our people by watering it down - the Catechism of Trent is as clear as a bell - but Christ Himself authorizes the use of pablum and explains why its sometimes necessary). What's your source on this?
"It's simply a non-dogmatic magisterial teaching."As is the ban on artificial contraception. Therefore, can it be done away with?
I don't see how anyone could opine that the death penalty teaching, which came from Scripture can be pronounced as in error because it is "immoral" and therefore must be kicked to the curb. It's impossible, because one would be declaring the Bible has errors. Nor do I have answers on how the death penalty teaching is not dogma if it's origin is Scripture.
