Two Good Posts Up By Matt Abbott

Matt Abbott has two great posts up here.

The first is a post on our friend Judie Brown from the American Life League castigating Chris Korzen and Catholics United.

Judie Brown's response:

'Catholics United has verbally excoriated the Family Research Council's factual campaign to expose the sordid pro-death underbelly of the Obama health care plan. By doing this Catholics United has united itself to those who promote evil acts like abortion and euthanasia while denying they are doing so. No single person or entity should call itself Catholic while embracing philosophies and actions that are the antithesis of Catholic teaching.

'I would recommend to Mr. Korzen, who speaks for Catholics United, that he understand that many of us have seen the actions of, while hearing the words of, President Obama, and have found an absolute disconnect between the two. Perhaps Mr. Korzen should pay closer attention. American Life League urges him to apologize to the leadership of the Family Research Council. As a practicing Catholic who is proud of her faith and her Church's teaching on the dignity of the human person, I will be apologizing to FRC for the shameful statements Catholics United has made because such statements are an insult not only to Catholics but to people of all faiths.'

The second post is about Stephen Brady of Roman Catholic Faithful. I wasn't tapped into Steve's work very closely but I know that he worked very hard at uprooting apostasy, liturgical abuses and corruption - and did so through many personal hardships and tragedies. Steve is throwing in the towel after coming to the conclusion that the corruption inside of the Church goes from the top to the bottom, believes we've done everything we can possibly do and It is essentially - gone.

'Today I am even more convinced of what I wrote back then. The recent horror of watching the University of Notre Dame honor America's abortionist-in-chief, Barack Obama, and the accompanying silence from the Vatican, demonstrates convincingly that the conciliar church is corrupt from top to bottom. I cannot in good conscience commit financial resources to 'rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic' in the conciliar church. For this reason, I have decided to dissolve RCF.

'I hope that, by the grace of God, I have done some good in the years I was president of RCF. I cannot tell you how blessed I was to work with many heroically-struggling priests and lay men and women, moms and dads.

'As the darkening clouds envelop the world today, it is clear to me that no mere human effort can save the Church. That role has been assigned by Our Lord to His mother, our mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary. We know from the approved Marian apparitions at Fatima, Akita and Quito that Our Lady is destined to save the Church and mankind at a time when the world is enslaved in sin. Our Lady revealed to Sister Lucy that the pope and all the bishops must together consecrate Russia to her sorrowful and Immaculate Heart. As of this moment, the world stands in great peril of an 'annihilation' of certain nations because Our Lady's request has not been obeyed.

'I believe our work as RCF has gone as far as it can go. For those who have had ears to hear, you know what must be done: Pray for the pope that he will command this requested consecration, a consecration that will bring world peace and restore Holy Mother Church. Pray the rosary every day. Attend the Traditional Latin Mass. Receive the Sacraments frequently. Wear Our Lady's scapular.'
I actually didn't realize Brady subscribed to the "failure to consecrate" meme. Pope John Paul II fulfilled this request, numerous times - -I believe in 1982, 1983, 1984 and then went out of his way just before the millennium to, once again, entrust the entire world to Mary.

I don't get it.

In any event, I think Steve's comments state of corruption inside of the Church is something that I've struggled with - and although I do not go so far as to say the Pope is involved - I think the corruption inside is very widespread and I have to concede his characterization is pretty close to the bullseye as far as I'm concerned.

God's blessings upon Steve and his family.

Our Lady's request was for ALL the Bishops together to consecrate Russia, specifically Russia, unfortunately this has not been done - get it?

Thanks for your thoughts, but I just don't subscribe to it. Can you give me more context There is no possible time on the face of the earth that you can have every single Bishop present. This kind of technical conspiracy that is suposedly part of the Our Lady's character, is impossible with the heart of a mother - especially, the Blessed Mother.

I thought Sr. Lucia confirmed it at some point. Can't remember which time it was.

March 25, 1984 Pope John Paul II, "united with all the pastors of the Church in a particular bond whereby we constitute a body and a college," consecrates "the whole world, especially the peoples for which by reason of their situation you have particular love and solicitude." Both the Pope and Sr. Lucia initially seemed uncertain that the consecration has been fulfilled, but shortly thereafter Sr. Lucia tells the papal nuncio to Portugal that the Consecration is fulfilled.

August 29, 1989 Sr. Lucia affirms in correspondence that the consecration "has been accomplished" and that "God will keep His word."

I really don't have all the facts on this one. Hopefully, somebody who subscribes to the failure to consecrate Russia will chime in...

I pray all the time "in union" with the Communion of Saints - or a particular saint. Every Mass is prayed "in union" with Rome and all of our brothers and sisters. The Office is prayed "in union" with everyone saying it. So is the Divine Mercy Chaplet prayed "in union" with everyone at 3PM every day.

If Our Lady said at Fatima that when the Holy Father consecrated Russia to her Immaculate Heart that all Bishops had to be literally present in Rome when he did it - I've never been able to find that citation.

Over the several times the consecration has been done by the various Popes over the years, and a handful of Bishops were not present due to illness or other important reasons -- people see Our Lady as being so mean-spirited as to consider the sickness and absences of the handful to be construed as the failure to comply with her request?

I just can't believe this is the same woman at the wedding feast at Cana. When guests ran out of wine, she had empathy and interceded. Surely, she is not wound so tightly, knowing the consequences of non-compliance, to construe the many attempts to appease her and fulfill the request with as many bishops physically present as possible - as a bust?

The whole Bible and the Book of Revelation is about a scourge because over the physical attendance of a handful of bishops when the Holy Father consecrated Russia several times?

We've got problems, predicted by Christ Himself - and in fact He met face to face with them and paid the ultimate price of going against the tidal waves of errors. I just can't see that our salvation has always hinged on having every single one, come coma, temperature, illness, on the edge of death physically present.

I can't make it gel in my head.

Do the Bishops speak in a united voice? I'm just thinking that when they all spoke in Latin, saying Mass daily they did speak in one voice. In fact at the time of Fatima every bishop and every priest for that matter spoke in one voice. Even to a casual observer you can not deny that since Vatican II the one voice of the church has been broken. Our Lady wants order in the house - is there any doubt in that? I'm thinking Latin Mass first and the other pieces will fall into line.
Let Benedict figure out the Russian consecration thing OK?

According to Sister Lúcia, the Virgin Mary promised that the Consecration of Russia would lead to Russia's conversion and an era of peace.[1]

Pope Pius XII, in his Apostolic Letter of 7 July 1952, Sacro Vergente, consecrated Russia to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Pius XII wrote,

Just as a few years ago We consecrated the entire human race to the Immaculate Heart of the Virgin Mary, Mother of God, so today We consecrate and in a most special manner We entrust all the peoples of Russia to this Immaculate Heart…[15]
In 1952 the Pope reminded the Russian people and the Stalinist regime that the Virgin Mary was always victorious. "The gates of hell will never prevail, where she offers her protection. She is the good mother, the mother of all, and it has never been heard, that those who seek her protection, will not receive it. With this certainty, the Pope dedicates all people of Russia to the immaculate heart of the Virgin. She will help! Error and atheism will be overcome with her assistance and divine grace." [16]

Pope Pius XII and Pope John Paul II both had special relations to Our Lady of Fátima. Pope Benedict XV began Pacelli's church career, elevating him to archbishop in the Sistine Chapel on 13 May 1917, the date of the first reported apparition. Pius XII, was laid to rest in the crypt of Saint Peter's Basilica on 13 November 1958, the Feast of Our Lady of Fátima. Our Lady of Fátima is credited by many faithful and by John Paul II himself,[citation needed] with saving his life during the assassination attempt, which took place on 13 May 1981.

Pope John Paul II again consecrated the entire world to the Virgin Mary in 1984, without mentioning countries like Russia. Some believe that Sister Lúcia verified that this ceremony fulfilled the requests of the Virgin Mary. However, in the Blue Army's Spanish magazine, Sol de Fatima, in the September 1985 issue, Sister Lúcia said that the ceremony did not fulfill the Virgin Mary's request, as there was no specific mention of Russia, and "many bishops attached no importance to it". In 2001, Archbishop Tarcisio Bertone issued a statement, claiming that he had met with Sister Lúcia, who reportedly told him, "I have already said that the consecration desired by Our Lady was made in 1984, and has been accepted in Heaven." Sister Lúcia died on 13 February 2005 (the anniversary of the apparitions), without making any public statement of her own to settle the issue.

The Communist Flag has returned to the Army in Russia so that clearly shows they have not converted to Catholicism. The consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary by the Pope in union with all the bishops was requested by Our Lady of Fatima and she was not obeyed. The consequences for not doing it are very scary. See www.fatima.org and Fatima on demand videos for more information.
