Bryan Hehir's Coup of the Catholic Church in America

As I've indexed many times throughout the last several years, Bryan Hehir has been involved with a group from the Kennedy School of Government that worked to elect Obama and is now working with the Obama Administration to snuff out the Catholic religion as we know it in America.

Hehir has been effective here in Massachusetts with the assistance of Cardinal O'Malley in strategically shutting down legislative and constitutional defense of our freedom to practice religion without handing out "emergency contraceptives", he took over the Mass Catholic Conference and, again, strategically shut down every aspect of it, leaving our Catholic conscience protections in Massachusetts legislatively and Constitutionally defenseless. The Cathedra in Boston being, in effect, sede vacanate, Hehir has been running the diocese for five years. I could go on and on indexing Cardinal O'Malley and Bryan Hehir's destructive policies for hours, but this is not the thrust of this post.

Hehir's objectives are twofold:

1. The destruction of Humanae Vitae and Democracy.
2. Marxism/Communism in America.

In a story in Accuracy in the Media, (Catholic Church Funding of Acorn) author Cliff Kincaid describes the contrived socioeconomic wars, instigated by churchmen to simultaneously kill faithfulness to the tenets of the Catholic Church and at the right time, overthrow democracy.

Alinskyian training sessions in the religious context are designed not to develop or cultivate a personal relationship with Christ and promote traditional values and cultural institutions but to engage in Marxist political activity and radical change. Stephanie Block puts it this way: "Their worldview is marred by visions of class struggle and perpetual revolution. They are systematically trained to renounce moral truth in favor of consensus-based 'values.'" What has happened over the course of years, some of these experts say, is that Catholics trained in Alinskyian thought have become confused about moral issues and problems. They think, for example, that opposition to the death penalty is on the same moral plane as opposition to abortion, even though Catholic moral teaching has never precluded capital punishment. They believe that fighting "global warming" is as important as saving the lives of unborn children or preventing the killing of the elderly. They are trained to fight for abortion and homosexual "rights" in violation of traditional Catholic Church teaching.

The article gives a decent analysis of how the Saul Alinsky confusion plays out in the public square.

Alinsky had his own Catholic connection, having had the support in Texas of Catholic Bishop Bernard J. Sheil and the Catholic Diocese in the San Antonio area. This then became a center of support for Marxist-oriented Liberation Theology and opposition to the Reagan policy of preventing Communist takeovers of Central American countries in the 1980s.

Father J. Bryan Hehir, who in 1983 delivered a series of lectures at the far-left Institute for Policy Studies (IPS) entitled, "Matthew, Marx, Luke, and John" illustrates the continuing left-wing drift of the Catholic Church in foreign affairs. Hehir, who served on the staff of the U.S. Catholic Conference of Bishops in Washington, D.C., from 1973-1992 and now teaches at Harvard, appeared on an October 15, 2007, Center for American Progress panel on "pursuing the global common good." Obama's adviser McDonough was also on the panel.

How Marxism Infiltrated the Catholic Church, scroll down to the bottom of page 3, where it describes how Hehir was crowned with an award named after Orlando Letelier, a Chilean communist.

Hehir's communist and dissenting reputation was well known before Cardinal O'Malley brought him to Boston. Once Hehir was in place, Cardinal O'Malley withdrew from power and handed over every aspect of it to Bryan Hehir. O'Malley has protected Hehir by using his blog to defend the Hehir's scandals and malign the righteous as Catholics dividing and doing a disservice to the Church.

I believe Hehir and Cardinal O'Malley have made major strides in bringing Marxism with their Caritas Christi debacle complete with contracts with abortionists. With a few heroic exceptions, Catholic apostolates refused to cover the story and then hailing O'Malley as a hero in the abortion arrangements. Everyone in the trenches knows that Hehir and O'Malley are two peas in a pod. O'Malley, like Obama, talks out of both sides of his mouth to keep Rome confused about what is really happening.

But, everything that is done in the darkness is eventually revealed by the Holy Spirit. And, in the meantime, we can be encouraged by those speaking out clearly against the injustices and malfeasance:

Father Z has a great post up containing the recent comments of Archbishop Burke about the quasi-canonization of Ted Kennedy in Boston and its confusing effects upon discernment and decision making.

Everyone knows who Archbishop Burke is speaking about.

Fr. Z quotes Archbishop Burke:
"The Church’s unity is founded on speaking the truth in love," he said. "This does not destroy unity but helps to repair a breach in the life of the Church."

I think the Marxists at the Kennedy School of Government believed that the infiltration of Marxist ideology into Catholic education had done it's job and it was time for the takeover. In nine months of the Obama Administration, they're about halfway towards their goal.

But, the people are awakening from the trance. We are in an intellectual battle for the soul of our nation. The mobs are organizing and pushing back. The Marxists are in full retreat.

Let's continue to unravel their logic, shall we?

Relentlessly.

The good and kind shepherd has his place in the battle. The hardnosed Fox has their place in the battle. Quite frankly, I think they are responsible for saving our hides from a swift takeover. The sarcastic Fr. Z has his place in the battle. The prayer warriors have their place in the battle.

Let's all take our places and advance.

Let freedom ring.

Worthy is the Lamb.

"In landing operations, retreat is impossible, to surrender is as ignoble as it is foolish. above all else remember that we as attackers have the initiative, we know exactly what we are going to do, while the enemy is ignorant of our intentions and can only parry our blows. We must retain this tremendous advantage by always attacking rapidly, ruthlessly, viciously, and without rest."
~George Patton.

Good grief. No wonder we get rebuffed when we question the scandals allowed within the Archdiocese (Caritas Christi, Kennedy funeral among others.)
The groundwork has been being laid for years. Thank you for bringing to light articles like this Accuracy in Media one.

Carol,

Perhaps Patton should be the patron saint of the church militant in Boston.

Thank you for all your work, which must cut into your family time and increase your stress levels. Thank you for all your local investigative reporting.

If you ever get back to Still River, please let me know. Sorry I missed meeting you at the picnic this year.

Carol,

I echo M's thanks for your hard work to shine light on this sad situation.

From a former resident of the Archdiocese of Boston (South Shore).

Carol,
I get it.
What now?
Seriously.
Is it time for action?
At least chase Bad Hair around with
a few nasty abortion posters, or something? Maybe a bullhorn barking the St. Michael prayer outside his
Harvard office? The church militant are ready.

Your kind words mean a great deal to me. Thanks to all of you.

LCIB: What's next with Hehir? Putting together a long dossier of his Marxism and his shutting down the faith here in Boston and sending it to certified mail to certain high-level attorneys who work for the US Church and Prelates in Rome. They may do nothing about this man but I'll be God damned if the paper trail isn't going to be on their desks for when it blows up. And, it will - as it always has.

I am fed up with the inaction of letting people rape our religion.

3rd Arise session (from Renew Intl) is about social justice. Hehir and Arise dissenters are in their glory. On Sat, Oct 17 in Boston there is the "Archdiocesan Justice Convocation - In the Footsteps of Christ" Keynoter Fr. J. Bryan Hehir, and discussion led by Sr. Terry Rickard, O.P., Executive Director of RENEW International. Renew has troubled history with Catholic doctrine : http://www.ourladyswarriors.org/renew/renewauth.htm ;http://www.catholicapologetics.info/modernproblems/currenterrors/renew.htm ; http://www.ourladyswarriors.org/renew/direct4.htm .

Blech. Renew is absolute nonsense. The good news is in most parishes it is a dud. Indoctrinating the innocent will have a limited impact.

Renew is carefully written propaganda designed to confuse and emotionally manipulate in order to break down 'barriers to progress'. Elders who are 'moved' by targeted sentimentality write checks.

Aside from the drivel RENEW's design also gets the elderly to open their wallet?

I'm curious now.

Carol,

I'm not sure what to do ... my bishop is bringing Hehir here to the Diocese of St Petersburg for the final convocation of our Eucharistic Congress. I have written the Bishop many times in response to commentaries on his blogs. It's frightening what has been allowed into the church. He never responds to me

Dear C.,

Who's the Bishop there?

You may want to consider getting a blog and publishing the information on the internet. Exposing it publicly is a great deterrent.

They can bury private communications. When it's out there in cyberspace, not so much.

If you want to send me a private email with info you can do it at cmmckinley@aol.com.
