Planned Parenthood Calling Catholics Who Will Fight Bishops on Obamabortions

It wasn't that long ago (maybe less than ten years?) that the Bishops were working with prochoice Catholics under the radar.

CNA has a story today that shows we've come a long way baby: Planned Parenthood is out actively trolling for Catholics willing to oppose the Bishops on Obamabortions.

Where are all the usual suspects?

Has Doug Kmiec, Patrick Whelan, Steve Krueger been yapping for Planned Parenthood and I just missed it?

I guess the abortion industry can't get much traction?

Cecile Richards, President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, sent an urgent message this week to the group's base asking for pro-abortion Catholics to defy the U.S. bishops, who are campaigning against the current versions of health care legislation on Capitol Hill because they fund abortion

“One thing I know for sure,” the Planned Parenthood president states, “the bishops don't speak for all Catholics. If you're Catholic and you disagree with the bishops, please let your legislators know when you send your message. Your voice as a pro-choice Catholic needs to be heard NOW.”

Richards claims in her email that “a few days ago, it felt as if we were holding strong in achieving health care reform that would finally ensure comprehensive coverage for everyone,”... “And then I received a copy of a memo that the Catholic bishops sent to their congregations.”

Richards asks Planned Parenthood sympathizers to “contact your senators and representative right now, asking them to protect women, to protect our health care, to protect our rights and not cave to the vocal minority.”

“Second, spread the word. I truly believe that if people know what the bishops and other groups are doing, they will be outraged, and they will speak up. Drowning them out won't be easy, but your action today will help,” she writes.

It makes me warm and fuzzy inside to know their base of Catholics defending abortionists and the women and children they victimize are not banging down their doors.

Hey Carol, Just got off a telephone conference call with Tsongas on the health care bill. As of 7:30 pm Friday, she was up to page 500 of the more than 2,000 page bill that she will vote on tomorrow! It is incredible that these representatives can say they have considered the measure when they can't even cram it all down. I would urge everyone to email their House and Senate representatives about this tonight. All the info is available on the Right to Life website:

Sorry for the long URL.

Carol, It's Mary. Shifted a day, of course, meant Thursday! The vote is on Saturday morning. (I really should take a breath before typing after phone calls)
