From John O'Gorman on the Caritas Sale to Cerebus

John does a great job of fisking another example of how Mr. Fix liquidates the Catholic mission for cash.

Dear Pro-Life Friend,

A NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING CONCERNING CARITAS NORWOOD HOSPITAL, INC., from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (Boston Herald, June 5, 2010, P 9) concerns the transfer of ownership of Caritas Norwood to Cerberus/Steward. AG Martha Coakley placed a similar notice. There will be hearings on the other hospitals at later dates.

The Caritas Norwood public hearing will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at the Coakley Middle School, 1350 Washington St., Norwood, MA 02062 commencing at 6 p.m.

There are several reasons to object to this transfer:

1/ The Boston Pilot of May 14, 2010 reported that Cardinal Sean O'Malley would allow Caritas Norwood, or any of the other 5 Caritas Christi hospitals, to abandon its Catholic identity (by performing abortions, for example) in exchange for a payment of $4,166,666  per hospital to a charity of Cardinal O’Malley’s choice.

2/ Caritas hospitals would have a “Conversion to taxable status to generate significant new state and local tax revenue”, according to a News Release of March 25, 2010 (CaritasCarney.org) These “significant” taxes, and the new FOR PROFIT status would result in higher charges to patients. Cerberus shareholders will want to see a return on their $830 million investment!

3/ Cardinal Sean O'Malley and Caritas Christi Health Care have an obligation to continue to own and operate Catholic hospitals, as this is one of the Church’s core activities.

Persons wishing to make their views known may appear at the hearing or may submit written comments to: Department of Public Health, Determination of Need Program, 99 Chauncy St., 2nd Floor, Boston, MA 02111. Written comments will be accepted up until 5 p.m., July 30, 2010. Note: Please mail by July 26, 2010 to ensure timely delivery.

You may also submit written comments by regular mail to: Public Charities Division/Caritas Transaction, Office of Attorney General Martha Coakley, One Ashburton Place, Boston, MA 02108 or by e-mail to Caritas@State.MA.US

Yours in Pro-Life,

John O’Gorman

I've been reading a little on the seamless garment philosophy. I think the garment is made out of wool and it is designed specifically to pull over ones eyes.

I think it is the only possible way that his eminence 'the Blogger' can justify this stuff.

Keep doing what you are doing.

A joke:
A Father walks up to a diocese director of education and asks;
"Could help me find a Catholic school for my kids?..."

The $325,000/year director says; "Sorry, that is only a service we provide for Lesbians."
