BIN LADEN'S CAPTURE ON THE FEAST OF DIVINE MERCY

A great and wondrous sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth. Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on his heads. His tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that he might devour her child the moment it was born. She gave birth to a son, a male child, who will rule all the nations with an iron scepter. And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne. The woman fled into the desert to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be taken care of for 1,260 days.

It’s an understatement to say I’m deeply moved by the courage of the small group of men who carried out the attempted capture, and as events turned out, the assassination, of Osama Bin Laden.

Like his predecessors, Bin Laden was driven to hound and hunt down the Divinity of Christ. In the spiritual world, where we are aware of the unseen forces, we know his animus was counseled and driven by the devil. It's a tapestry that repeat's itself throughout our religious history.

There are conflicted emotions in seeing the sons of Egypt gobbled up by the Red Sea, Hitler's assassination, the execution of Saddam Hussein and Bin Laden.

I'll tell you what I see: Divine Mercy.

A gift, the fruit of prayer on the Feast of Divine Mercy, the intercession of Blessed Pope John Paul II on the day of his beatification. It is no coincidence that service I was at, we prayed for our soldiers in front of the Blessed Sacrament at almost the exact time the military action was carried out. I am sure similar prayers were said for the men who protect our freedom all over the country and in fact the world.

It was interesting watching Pelosi and the Democrats. Aren’t these the same people who are offended by squirting water on terrorists? They can't seem to stick to their story. They were positively giddy about shooting Bin Laden between the eyes. Per usual, their emotions and victory is focused on the people they see in the mirror.

They can't even see The Deliverer.

Rejoice and be thankful for those who responded to Grace and freed the world from the power of this evil. It is a tremendous victory.

We praise you Jesus, thank you Blessed John Paul II, St. Faustina, the Woman clothed in the sun, the Communion of Saints, souls in purgatory.

Carol, God bless you for saying what you did. You have a far clearer moral conscience than the morons on the National Catholic Register website who advocate praying for bin Laden's soul and not celebrating his death. The same people failed to show any compassion toward or "solidarity" (I hate that word) toward his victims.

Keep religion political! Amen.

Assuming his guilt (as I do), I too rejoice, Lepanto-style, as I rejoice at the execution of Hans Frank, gauleiter of Poland.

I also rejoice that the murderous Frank was reconciled to the Catholic Church before he was hanged, and expressed his contrition on the gallows.

Rejoicing at their deaths doesn't stop me praying for their souls, as I do and shall.

If Laden thought, albeit wrongly, that he was serving God, I take it that the Almighty has taken this into Consideration.

Joseph, I haven't checked the NCR. Thanks for the heads-up. You would have to go a long way to deny Osama Bin Laden was a tool of the anti-Christ and his assassination a victory over that darkness, freedom to the oppressed and an act of justice on behalf of the common good.

Thankfully prayers are never wasted because some people have a soft spot in their hearts for the devil. If that guy's life's work doesn't get him a sentence in hell, it sure is a lucky day for the dogs, sorcerers, unchaste, murderers, and servers of idols, and every one that loveth and maketh a lie, eh?

Chris, your reference to Lepanto is absolutely right on! I'm not quite sure though that just because a person thinks they're doing something 'for god' it's going to be an acceptable excuse. Didn't Christ say something like not all who say they thought they were doing something on behalf of God are going to gain entry into Heaven? I think He said His response would be 'get away from me, I don't know you, the things you did were unauthorized' - something like that.

I believe it was St. Joan of Arc, who in the middle of a battle, told the enemies of Christ before they were killed to come out and go to hell where they belonged. Bin Laden was one of the worst enemies of Christendom in the history of civilization. I don't see any ambiguity on this one.

Lance, Judeo-Christians have a long and rich history of petitioning God to intercede against bondage being carried out at the hands of the 'political'. Lepanto, as Chris mentions is a fantastic example. There are a lot of Egyptian chariots in the Red Sea. A wall in Jericho came tumbling down. A Roman empire was leveled. The fight between good and evil is very much a part of 'politics' and it will be until the end of time.

In case it wasn't clear Lance, I second your AMEN!

I read Jimmy and Jennifer's article and some of the comments. The Scriptural references, which are to be applied while a soul is living are misapplied to give sympathy to one of the greatest minions of the devil who ever lived.

It is a mockery of the price of our salvation, Christ's Life, Passion and Execution.

Those who 'rejoice' in a victory of God's are not rejoicing over the loss of a soul. We rejoice that God has granted captives and victims and future captives and victims, mercy. We are thrilled by the miracle in one of the holiest days, certainly that I have ever known in my life.

Has EWTN assigned an editor? What is going on over there?

Surely the Archbold's will bring some lucidity to the madness.

Right on Joseph!....As we all know, the National Catholic Register and all Catholic publications are evil. Only this tiny Blog contains the fullness of Catholic truth and Carol is a dry martyr for the faith. Why this Blog is even more Catholic than the Pope and all of Rome!

So hand out the ammunition and let's all blow away the enemy.....YEE HA!

Well, they don't call you
"ham" for nothing, do they son.

Implying people who will call the devil out by name and rejoice in a miracle are bloodthirsty certainly makes for good drama.

There's no martyr complexes here, that's for sure. If you're reference to being a teeny tiny blog is supposed to be some kind of slap to my self-esteem...frankly, I'm quite happy to be a teeny tiny nobody with no donors who can manipulate me. This nobody is humbled by the amount of readers I have.

Peace!

I don't know if what happened fits the definition of "assasination". While the SEALS knew they'd probably have to kill him, and were prepared to do so, I understand they wanted to take him alive. He resisted so they had no choice.

That's a fair criticism Janet. That guy might have had a button to detonate a dirty bomb a few inches away. Other than putting his hands up and saying I surrender, how much room could a rational person give him?

Taking him alive, holding him in prison for war crimes would have brought the wrath of Al Queda upon us. We averted a disaster, IMO. Then again, I am tiny so what do I know!

Whether one agrees or not with the SEALs' purpose, they would have spared him, had he surrendered. I suppose one could say that by resisting, Obama spared them the trouble of deciding. The fact still remains that their first intention was not to kill him. It was not assasination by definition.

I completely agree with and fully support our heroic SEALs!

And, you make very valid point about the use of the word assassination. Thanks for your thoughts.
