Fr. Unni's Message on the Parable of the Sower: "The Nomatterwhatness of God Fills Us With Mercy"

I'll bet you never heard that one before. I'm wishing I never heard it, but I'll get to how Fr. Unni got that message out of the parable of the sower in a minute. First, some good news:

Parishioners at St. Cecilia's were told that though they billed today's Mass at St. Cecilia's as a 'welcome' Mass, everyone is welcome at all Masses - said he thought everyone has known that all along.

He also stopped referring to faithful Catholics as hate mongers. We are now known at St. Cecilia's as the people who "don't get it". And, we're in good company because the Pope and 2000 years worth of Church teachings are with us.

You have to love the irony that today's Gospel was the parable of the sower, where the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven are lost to people whose souls are inadequately prepared to receive the Word.

Enough suspense.

Fr. Unni's homily explained exactly whose souls are inadequately prepared to receive the Word - it's the 'hard liners' and religious authorities who just 'don't get it'.

You see, Jesus opposed religious authority because He said stupid stuff like everyone was welcome, come to Him wracked with shame, whether you are gay or a prostitute or any other person on the margins. Religious authority and hard liners don't get it. Remember that Nicodemus came through the roof.

Fortuitously, he read the Gospel of Matthew before and after the parable of the sower and you know what he found? That Christ said if he had gone to Sodom and did what He did for outcasts, they would have gotten it.

Get it?

No?

He knew this was all going to be open for misinterpretation, but he is not giving the green light -no no - it's about loving people taking care of other people.

Jesus said 'these people' are people who lay heavy burdens and rules upon you but if you come to Him, He will give you rest. Know who you are. God sees who you are and He will give you rest. Stand in your own strength.

Do you get it, he asked?

I was only one in the pews around me shaking my head 'no' but there must have been others because he went on to clarify what he was talking about. That's when he gave the quote that ties it all together. It's all about shame and compassion. Shame bad. Compassion good.

He had a book written by "Greg Boyle" who apparently explains that shame is at the root of all addiction. God loves all woundedness into health. God finds in them total acceptability in their being. Self cannot survive without love. The absence of self-love is shame. The sinner is the outcast. Shame speaks lies. You're not at home with yourself. If we don't believe in ourselves, we will never come to the Table. If somebody tells you that you can't come to the Table, it isn't the Catholic religion.

So much for the theology of unworthy reception of the Eucharist but I digress.

If we don't believe in ourselves, we will never come to the Table. Let shame go because the nomatterwhatness of God fills us with mercy.

The strategy of Jesus was not about taking the right stand on issues, it is about standing in the right place. Compassion stands in awe of what others carry in life rather than judging them. Jesus eats with them, that's it. He eats with them. Eating with outcasts renders them acceptable.

Some people ask him why he needs a Rainbow Ministry. He tells them he listened to gay older men in their 60s, 70s and 80s - and all you say is tell me a story of who is feeling squashed - there needs to be a place. People saying this is the Unni gospel of sodomy just don't get it. With compassion, margins get erased.

The seed is God's compassion and acceptance. What kind of soil are we?

Are we stingy or open?

Everyone is holy love. There is no shame. Shame is healed. There is nothing to be ashamed of. Do we get it?

And with that, he flung open his vestments and swirled around like he was getting ready to fly, and up the stairs he went as the congregation broke open into wild applause. (In fact, there was a lot of clapping throughout the whole Mass, which I don't have the wherewithall to describe right now.)

I am not putting words in Unni's mouth - these are all his words. Somebody taped the homily. As soon as I receive it, we'll get it uploaded to the internet. I can't even get into the nightmare of the intercessions.

I couldn't count the times I was brought to my knees in reparation, my heart moved with pity for the gentle, kind and loving souls surrounding me, being so spiritually abused. God help them.

It doesn't take much to find how frightening Fr. Unni's gospel of no shame actually is, as one of our readers found a St. Cecilia bulletin dated October 24, 2010 with a printed article by Michael Gelenfield who has been accused of repeated sexual abuse. Not even repeated sexual abuse is to be ashamed of at St. Cecilia's. Shame speaks lies, let shame go because the nomatterwhatness of God fills him with mercy, total acceptability in his being.

Wasn't this the problem?

Oh wait..I think I get it now...being a friend of the Catholic hierarchy has its perks, doesn't it.

Wow, Carol. I'd have gotten ill.

St. Matthew 11:
23 And you Capharnaum, shall you be exalted up to heaven? You shall go down even unto hell. For if in Sodom had been wrought the miracles that have been wrought in you, perhaps it had remained unto this day. 24 But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment than for you.

Fr. Unni admits that Sodom is relevant to his LGBT crowd? He admits that Our Lord approved of their punishment? Or did he mean they were reduced to ashes because of the folks who "didn't get it!?" No, Lot left. Unni omitted that part.

Actually, Unni pronounced a fearsome judgment on his "active" members. For "it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment than for" those who hear the Gospel of Christ. Hence, a sodomite who hears the Word but rejects it is under heavier judgment than a citizen of Sodom.

"And with that, he flung open his vestments and swirled around like he was getting ready to fly, and up the stairs he went as the congregation broke open into wild applause." Wow, a real flamer! Spiking the football! He won. He pulled it off. All thanks to Cardinal Sean!

It sounds like he got some homiletic pointers from Pfleger.

Janet, interesting that you point that out - I thought of Pfleger while watching him.

You could never see God through that dog and pony show. They are holding a mirror up to their own faces and loving themselves - in every conceivable way.

Very disturbing.

Jerry, it wouldn't be something I'd go back to in a hurry, that's for sure.

I don't know what his point was on Sodom -- I think he was saying if they only had loved each other and served in soup kitchens, the whole thing wouldn't have imploded.

Carol: You have some kind of intestinal fortitude. That is all I can say. We have to admit: the Catholic church is in schism. We can no longer pretend otherwise. Carol, it look like the link I gave you for St. Cecilia's chuch bulletin dated 10/24/2010 is inoperative. This link should take you to this bulletin where you will find the article that St. Cecilia's published by accused pedophile Michael Geilenfeld. Seems Unnit and Geilenfeld are "pals".

Let me know if you have a problem.

What a difference between Fr. Landry's and Fr. Unni's messages. It is clear to me that we who believe Fr. Landry's words are part of the 'small faithful remenant' that Virgin Mary prophecised about and the Venerable Anne Catherine Emmerich foresaw in her visions. Those that follow the Fr. Unni's of the world are part of the 'larger universal church' also seen by her in those visions. It is interesting how many of us have found each other, and I am greatful that we have! It is just a matter of time before speaking the truth lands us in jail, given that freedom of religion is soon to exclude 'haters' like us. I look forward to meeting you all there!

I couldn't bring myself to go. Just as well. It sounded like a horror show. The picture in the Globe this morning says it all.

I hope that when Unni flung open his vestments, his thong was the proper liturgical color.

The Nomatterwhatness of Unni fills us with heresy.

And do you notice that in the bulletins the word "Mass" is replaced by "liturgy"? And Unni refers to himself as the "presider". This is not a Catholic parish -- it is a gaggle of piskie wannabes.

By contrast, the bulletin of Mary Immaculate of Lourdes shows a photograph of a rainbow surrounding the sun taken by a parishioner during the Corpus Christi procession. Fr. Higgins describes it poetically as "the white Host of the Eucharist in a celestial monstrance." Fr. Higgins is a priest, not a presider. He celebrates the Mass, not a liturgy. He has also redeemed the metaphor of the rainbow from its squalid perversion by the homo lobby. A celestial monstrance. Fr. Higgins is a Priest of God. Unni is a minister to narcissists.

Fr. Higgins also quotes from a Wall Street Journal essay by Rev. R. Albert Mohler: In less than a single generation, homosexuality has gone from something almost universally understood to be sinful, to something now declared to be the moral equivalent of heterosexuality—and deserving of both legal protection and public encouragement. Theo Hobson, a British theologian, has argued that this is not just the waning of a taboo. Instead, it is a moral inversion that has left those holding the old morality now accused of nothing less than “moral deficiency”.

Fr. Higgins preaches the Gospel. What Unni preaches is the moral inversion of the Gospel. Cardinal O'Malley should remove Unni and send him for reflexion, repentance and re-formation, and failing his conversion, laicisation.

Here is the Globe article: "Gays, lesbians draw comfort, support from Catholic Mass"

www.boston.com/.../massachusetts/.../gays_lesbians_draw_comfort_support_from_catholic_mass/

An excerpt:

Leading the processional, Rainbow Ministry president John Kelly walked into the nave in front of Unni, carrying a gold cross.

“I can’t believe this is happening,’’ Kelly later recalled thinking as he approached the altar. “I never thought I’d see this day.’’

YEAH, ME NEITHER.

This from the Mayor:

Mayor Thomas M. Menino, who attended the service, said he follows the teachings of the Catholic Church for most issues, but on social issues he goes with his heart.

Naturally.

Veronica: They were actually wearing button with a cross and a rainbow symbol. Sancta Mariae Mater Dei ora pro nobis.

Maria, how did we ever let everything get so bad?

We must have many Victim Souls in this world; what else is holding back the Hand of God from striking us?

Veronica

Maria said...

I don't know, Veronica. Our Lady told us that there woulc come a time that she would be unable to hold back his wrath. Here is Our Lady of Akita to Sister Agnes:

On October 13, the anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima, 1973, Sr. Agnes heard the beautiful voice speaking from the statue once more: "The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against other bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their confreres, churches and altars will be sacked. The Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the devil will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord. The demon would be especially implacable against souls consecrated to God. The thought of the loss of so many souls is the cause of my sadness. If sins increase in number and gravity, there will be no longer any pardon for them."

She continued, "As I told you, if people do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a punishment greater than the Flood, such as one will never have seen before. Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead. The only arms which will remain for you will be the Rosary and the Sign left by my Son. Each day recite the prayers of the Rosary. With the Rosary pray for the Pope, the bishops and the priests."

Prayer. Penance. Fasting. Sacrifice. The rosary. The message is always the same...

Joseph D'Hippolito said...

I wonder whether the National Catholic Register will comment on this....then again, why should I care what those deleted expletives think?

Maria said...

Joseph: Who knows? This is all so terribly discouraging. But, remember, Our Lord told us,"I am with you until the end of time". He will not abandon us. We must persevere. We have to make reparation. The best way is through, not only prayer and sacrifice but also through fasting. Fasting drives away the enemy. We know this from scripture.

Fr. Hardon said:"The Catholic Church will survive only, only where there are still bishops, priests, and the laity who have the supernatural, even heroic fortitude, to live up to what they know the Vicar of Christ expects of those who call themselves Catholics".

This is the reason we have to be indefatigable in our high calling of protest against these lies. It is only going to get worse. Fr Hardon warned us: "Anyone who does not think that a loyal Catholic today must be ready to live a martyr’s life is living in a dream".

There will be martyrdom to come...

Nor I, Maria. One of my grandmothers died in 1962. I do not think she would recognize the Church today and would be horrified at what she found. She was a 3rd Order Dominican and a daily Mass goer. When she died, I remember the big discussion was: should they or should they not bury her in her habit? I secretly hoped they would (in those days, no one would have ever asked what a young person thought...no one cared what a young person thought), but a pink dress won out. Those were the days!

Dear Carol,

You always keep the spotlight on the heterodox "Catholics" and the Lord will reward you for it. You had the virtue of fortitude of the Holy Ghost to show up at that pseudo-"liturgy". Your labours will be repaid a thousandfold in this life and the next. I do not think that the Lord intends to abandon us. We have His assurance that he does not.

Those who suffer from homosexual attraction and who lead chaste lives in conformance with the Will of God will reap eternal rewards, even as those whose attractions are heterosexual and still lead lives of chastity will. There is no discrimnation in the Church founded by Christ. He calls all to sanctity. But He loves all sinners into repentance. He has provided the Sacrament of Penance and the call to amend one's live. That is what Unni should have preached. Amendment of life. And a sincere Act of Contrition. Perfect Contrition. He failed to preach the Word. He is an Episcopalian masquerading in Roman garb.

There is thus no such thing as a "homosexual community" within the Catholic Church. There is no such thing as an "adulterers' community" nor a "contraceptors' community" nor an "aborters' community". There is no such thing, in other words, as a "Unni-ty" of any description. There is only the Kingdom of God on earth united in the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Faith under the Universal Primacy of the Bishop of Rome.

The larger question is, where is that Church founded by Christ to be found today? Is it presently at Rome? Is it at Byzantium? I am no longer sure. But the post-V2 Roman Church is a shambles. The formerly faithful have left in droves. That is beyond deniability.

And what does Cardinal O'Malley have to offer? What does Archbishop Dolan have to offer? Abject apologies to the pagan culture? To the homo lobby? They are contemptible fools whose girth circumscribes in inverse proportion their faith. French Burgundy and Black Angus steaks on the dime of the pew-puppies. Contemptible wretches, the lot of them.

Dolan at the Governor's mansion! O'Malley at Kenney's funeral! What a bunch of craven apostates. Let them go to buggery. If they haven't already.

I didn't take my phone out until Unni's homily so it would be available on the internet. After his homily, the phone went away.

Don't you know you were supposed to be standing in awe when I carried my cell phone rather than judging me.

Somebody had to write down what he said so his words would be given some sunshine. Hopefully, we'll have an audio up soon too.

I'm sure they told you I was on my knees before the Mass saying the Rosary and I was praying intently all other times.

Jack, I second your thoughts about Dolan. After reading his blog, the description "contemptible fool" is too charitable!

God's not amused w/these contemptible wretches, either. Read Ezekiel 34. That describes them perfectly.
