NYT says Gingrich has 84% Chance of Winning Florida

Rapid shift in Florida. Romney is tanking. And, the national polls have Gingrich tied with the Mittens.

Romney is looking desperate.

During an appearance on ABC's "Good Morning America," he referred to Romney as "somebody who has released none of his business records, who has decided to make a stand on transparency without being transparent. After initially balking, Romney is set to release personal tax records on Tuesday"

Can't wait to see what's in those, but his taxes are not his business records. If you're asking other candidates to disclose their business records and contracts to be transparent - you've got some chutzpah not to release your own business records.

I think we'll soon be seeing Romney's forced self-deportation (huh?) from the race.

Demanding that a candidate release business records is a dangerous precedent. Will Gingrich, in turn, release his? What about candidates in the future? Unless a legitimate judicial agency demands those records under subpoena, they should remain private, especially if the businesses are privately owned.

Today, Romney; tomorrow, Catholic Charities?

Granted, Catholic Charities isn't a "business," as such. But who's to say that, sometime down the line, some ambitious government official or politician won't demand to see that agency's records -- especially given the Obama Administration's demand that Catholic hospitals provide abortion and contraception under its health-care plan?

We are seeing the destruction of the line between public and private that the Founders intended. First, Obama. Now, Gingrich. All for what? Ideological dominance and personal ambition?

The republic is doomed. I hope I don't live long enough to see its total demise.

BTW, I've neutral about all the Republican candidates. The California primary is one of the latest in the country. What happens is that we Californians wind up rubber-stamping whoever is left in the campaign.
