No Carol, it's pee me a river! LOL! Seriously, these 7th century morons commit horrible acts against their own kind (sodomy against little boys, forcing little girls to marry old men, sentencing women to death for being raped) and I'm supposed to go ballistic because some Marines commit that is something in bad taste?!

Where's the outrage when one of our Afghan "partners" turn his gun on our soldiers as happened yet again the other day? Where was Hillary's public outrage then?Certainly what happened should NOT have, but I think that it is indicative of the anger that comes from being forced into an expectation of respect for them while they distain us. Double standards, even if it is only for 'diplomacy,' never ends well.

Oh.. Mark Shea and Frank Weathers are not going to like this! In their world, it's blame America first and Rick Santorem is just as bad as your local abortionist.

If these soldiers called it a golden showers, they would be heroes.

Is it vulgar and immature these animals and murderers were peed on? Sure.

But really, who gives a bleep.

I'm not a fan of spinning the cowardice of men to give a crap about the oppression of our brothers and sisters across the world into some kind of virtue.

The castration of men is an ugly thing to watch.

Susan, Mark Shea has been way over the edge of reason for years! He has constantly sundowned our military on his and other peoples blogs. For example, he repeated an old wive's tale that our armed forces in Vietnam were throwing enemy soldiers off of airplanes over the ocean on the Against The Grain blog. He caught hell from people who served in the 'Nam for repeating that calumny!
What is really weird about Shea's anti-military bias is that he grew up in a military family. What could have made him so anti-military?

I'm taking a wild guess here...

The generation of Jesuits castrated from their testosterone?

Carol, the Mark Sheas of the world have a very selective outrage. He posts that Iran is not really a threat!

http://www.patheos.com/blogs/markshea/2012/01/its-sad-when-the-writers-of-cracked.html

Only somebody who gets his views on geopolitics from ESPN would think that.

The problem is that people believe that Shea is "in step with Church thinking," so they will uncritically view his opinions as such. Here's another example:

http://www.patheos.com/blogs/markshea/2012/01/murderers-for-jesus.html

Shea is not just another obnoxious, self-righteous blogger. He is an unwitting propagandist for a regime that not only seeks to destroy Israel but also -- if it could -- the United States.

Shea is warped. He should be ignored at any cost.

Let me correct myself: Shea shouldn't be ignored at any cost; he should be fought vigorously!

Carol, how does your comment relate to my post on Shea?

I'm not going to enter into a debate on Shea's character, or lack of same. All I ask is that you look at his actions...or just ask Steve Dalton.

Mark Shea is a son of the Church who is trying his best to enrich those around him. In spite of his flaws. Like the rest of us who have tied ourselves to the Ark of the Covenant to ride out the storm.

No matter what he does says or does, it pales in comparison to a soul who have severed themselves from Christ and His One Holy Catholic and Aspostolic Church and is cruising Catholic websites to mislead others into their tragic predicament.

Carol, I'm not going to defend Joe Leaving the church, but I can't defend Mark Shea's actions either. It's not a matter of him being 'flawed', everybody on the face of the earth is 'flawed'. Mark Shea has a well-known record of arrogant bullying behaviour that, IMHO, borders on the psychotic or psychopathic. I, along with thousands of other blog readers, have seen the hateful way Mark and his flunkies, will go after someone who disagrees with them on one of his hobbyhorses or hang-ups. This isn't Christian behaviour Carol, and it shouldn't be tolerated. Many blogmasters, like Matthew Bellisarno of the Catholic Champion blog, have had to tell Shea to take a hike, because they would not allow Shea to slander or vilify themselves or the other commentators on their blogs.
What gets me is the way no church offical or employer has ever taken action against this abusive individual. Instead, they make excuses for him and he continues in his foul mouth tirades against people who disagree with him. For example, if you think it's perfectly alright to execute someone for a capital crime, he says you're a death penalty maxiumist. Nevermind the church, backed by it's oral and written tradition, always taught the rightousness of the dp. Mark accuses people, clergy and laity alike, of wanting to kill as many people that they can get their hands on. This is outright slander and libel that is nworthy of a Christian man.
Carol, if you still think I'm being too harsh on Mark Shea, go to these two blogs: http://catholicchampion.blogspot.com and Against The Grain at http://christopherblosser.blogspot.com Put Shea's name into the blog's search engines and you will see dozens of reasons that Mark isn't just 'flawed', he's down right mean and nasty.

Carol, at some point, theological identification means nothing. That point is reached when one's behavior runs directly counter to one's said identity. That's not solely a Catholic problem, of course. But it is Mark Shea's problem, and has been for at least a decade. That's how long he and I have crossed swords.

It's also the problem you have with those members of the clergy and hierarchy who behave as if they are de facto atheists.

Remember, Carol, to those whom God has given much, He will require much. Remember, also, that God will judge every careless word spoken. If Shea truly is a "son of the Church," then it's about time he start behaving like one, and not like an insane banchee who cannot control his impulses.

Joe,

Your glass is never half full. It's never even half empty. it's always completely empty.

I'm not a stranger to conversations with Mark that are critical. The gig is not my cup of tea. I don't think I'm his. Nevertheless, he has contributed a lot of great catechesis and substance to Catholic gathered on the internet. I can't bring myself to say he's a bum.
