Obama's Sham "Compromise" - Lay people don't have constitutional freedom of religion

Have you notice that Obama's putanas are now claiming that contraception has proven to give women health benefits?

That's right ladies. They're so much better than vitamins and antioxidants, they're going to give them to you for free.

I'll tell you something, as a woman, I'm offended by the implication they think women are this stupid.

You want to give women something good for their health? Give them free groceries and Lancome. How about free eyeglasses for women who can't see without them?

Birth control pills and abortifacients give such enormous health benefits to women they need to be free?

Please. Tell me women are not this stupid.

I digress.

The mandate is law. The "compromise" is a policy. Even if it were a good compromise, which it isn't, it is a policy of a conniving liar. All that stands between the law and the policy is an election.

Let's talk about the creep factor of 'the compromise'. I can't help but to presume that Obama knows the history of American Bishops well and he is relying upon their long history of cowardice to hand their flock over for the slaughter.

What Obama is essentially doing, is putting an offer before the Bishops that creates and arms length from the transaction....for the Bishop. The Bishop will agree to enter into a nefarious contract with the insurance company that puts a layer of people between the Bishop and the the sin of commission to his employees.

The theological and ethical problem with that arrangement is, he is hiring people to commit his sins.

That's not even the worst of it. For the delusion that hiring people to commit his sins will leave him eligible for Heaven, he sacrifices a whopper. He compromises away the conscience protections of every American who doesn't work for him. None of the rest of us will have conscience protections.

Naturally, Carol Keehan is backing it, but it seems she and the two goons at Catholics United are the only people who are willing to sell their soul for this turd.

I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for Kmiec. What's your prediction?

ADDENDUM...

According to Whispers in the Loggia, the Bishops have issued a response. They didn't bite the apple.

“The only complete solution to this religious liberty problem is for HHS to rescind the mandate of these objectionable services.

UPDATE 2

Good analysis by Robby George.

This so-called “accommodation” changes nothing of moral substance and fails to remove the assault on religious liberty and the rights of conscience which gave rise to the controversy. It is certainly no compromise. The reason for the original bipartisan uproar was the administration’s insistence that religious employers, be they institutions or individuals, provide insurance that covered services they regard as gravely immoral and unjust. Under the new rule, the government still coerces religious institutions and individuals to purchase insurance policies that include the very same services.

It is no answer to respond that the religious employers are not “paying” for this aspect of the insurance coverage. For one thing, it is unrealistic to suggest that insurance companies will not pass the costs of these additional services on to the purchasers. More importantly, abortion-drugs, sterilizations, and contraceptives are a necessary feature of the policy purchased by the religious institution or believing individual. They will only be made available to those who are insured under such policy, by virtue of the terms of the policy.

Absolutely correct. The Catholic Church would have to adopt the policies that make birth control available. They would have to add this coverage to their existing policies. We can't do it. And, not only that, the 'accommodation' is adding another layer of sins as we would symbolically wash our hands of our own policy by hiring uncatechized people to commit them.

Furthermore, people who practice the Catholic religion, and need to abide by it's tenets for the purposes of their own salvation, are not afforded their rights in the Constitution to own a business and operate it without violating their own religion under this 'compromise'.

I am still flabbergasted that all this time, he had the power to tell drug companies to give people the pills they need for free if they can't afford them.

Wow. Think he'll extend his magical powers to seniors and the poor, sick and dying who are skimping on lifesaving meds because they can't afford them?

Put your accommodation where the sun doesn't shine, pal. Even the Bishops can finally smell the stink of your sulfur.

Shortly before Obama announced his compromise, Helene Cooper wrote in the New York Times wrote:
"At most, the compromise could potentially help President Obama shore up support among wavering Democrats, who have also expressed doubt about the rule, along with more liberal religious organizations and charities, who oppose the rule but not as vehemently as the Catholic leadership."
The National Catholic Fishwrapper has reported (http://ncronline.org/news/politics/white-house-accommodates-religious-exemptions-contracetpive-coverage) that Douglas Kmiec has returned to the Obama-fold along with others who had strayed such as his former Catholic U. colleague Stephen Schneck and former Congressman Bart Stupak.

"We're delighted that the White House has offered a compromise which will not require any religious institution to financially be responsible for a service that they don't support, while ensuring that women who work in those institutions will have access to services," said the Rev. Debra Haffner, executive director of the Religious Institute.
Haffner's group issued a letter Wednesday on behalf of 23 religious organizations supporting the original mandate. Religious Institute is a multi-faith organization which advocates for sexual health and education.
John Gehring, the Catholic outreach coordinator at Faith in Public Life said the decision "shows the White House respects the Catholic community and concerns of diverse religious leaders."
"It's clear that the president worked very hard to protect both religious liberty and women's health," he said.
Faith in Public Life also emailed a statement signed by 33 prominent theologians, lawyers, and religious groups celebrating the compromise as a "major victory for religious liberty and women’s health."
Among the signers were retired U.S. ambassador Douglas Kmiec and the Institute Leadership Team of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas.
"This is a win for the angels," said Stephen Schneck, the director of the Institute for Policy Research and Catholic Studies at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C."

Well. Isn't that precious. Thanks for the heads up.

Obama's statement isn't much better - he's decided that we all win with ths brillant compromise. He fixed our collective conscience. Now we all know why he 'deserves' a second term!

Meanwhile in another part of town, Romney was trying to convince the CPAC attendees that he is the consevative choice for president. I needed a good laugh....
It's clear that another similarity between Obama and Romney is their belief that the rest of us are morons! I pray for the bishops in their battle and Santorum in his - may they be victorious! Offering up a few Sacraments might help as well....
