Cardinal O'Malley Hosting a Dog and Pony Show for Obama at our Cathedral of the Holy Cross

After a long day in the war zone, I don't even have the bandwidth to express this mutually shameless codependent grab to politicize the tragic manifestation of hatred Obama breeds to empower his popularity.

I'm all for each of us praying in our respective places of worship across the country. It brings me great joy to be united in prayer across our faith under these circumstances especially...but...

Anyone ever heard of an 'interfaith' service inside of a Catholic Church?

Never in my 57 years, have I ever seen nor heard of one. An 'interfaith service where the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ is reserved in our Sanctuary?

Doesn't pass my Sacramental, Liturgical and theological sniff test but I am too tired to even process the reasons why.

I've heard of them being done outside in the open air - but Catholics generally do not participate in them as they give the appearance we are okay with polytheism.

Furthermore, instead of looking for the murderer, police power and resources now shift to a Presidential appearance.

I wish Obama would just be man enough to leave us alone.

Demoralizing our women, killing our children and our sick, bankrupting our country, inspiring hatred between those who are poor and rich, between races, between religions - especially Catholics, hatred against those who pursue virtue and salvation. Hatred against Americans. Hatred of police. Hatred of our military. Etc., etc., etc.

We forgive you but please - Just go away and leave us alone.

TCC, Couldn't you add a check box to reactions. Something like "Stupid" ?

TTC said...

I don't think the checkboxes can be customized but that would be delicious .

The Cardinal is a good, kind man. It is impossible to watch the victims of the execution of his game plan and not feel anger. Anger keeps us from becoming complacent about salvation. I was never one for the circus. You don't have to love the clowns. You just have to discipline your thoughts, wish him well, pray for him and ask God to be merciful to the people being fed circus peanuts instead of Divinity. Forgiveness doesn't come without discipline. Sometimes every day.

TCC, You are right. And accepting brings complacency. brings Relativism. I do and will keep working to be prayerful about this. Take Care.

Perhaps Cardinal Sean and Prez Barry will be seeking to commune with the spirit of Teddy K at the site of his resplendent Catholic funeral. The Cardinal has so many Democratic operatives on staff and they play him like a fiddle.

Oh, and Gov. Devil will be there to speak too,

Carol, you sound simply crude and ignorant, along with your whacko friends. I am embarrassed for you.

Shut up Anon, and put your damn name of the comments you make. Stop being such a coward.

Anonymous,

Your problem is you think practicing Catholics would give a rat's ass what you think.

The Catholic Church isn't a public facility for politicians and false religions.

Put a sock in it.

Yeh Anon, We just love bein' Whackos. Why don't ya come down from you're High Horse and be a Whacko too. You don't know what you're missin'.

There will be a small delay in publishing comments as comment moderation is now on.

I'm in a war zone all day long. I really don't have the patience for people who don't want Catholics to tell them our Sanctuary is reserved for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

Try the moslem mosque. See how far you get with that.

It wouldn't be objectionable holding it at B.C. stadium.

You're talking about a Catholic Sanctuary where the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ Sacrifices Himself for the Sanctification of Baptized Catholics. It is the holiest of holies.

I don't expect hateful people who lack respect for the Catholic religion to show respect. But this is a Catholic blog, posting Catholic teaching whether you like it or you don't is not my concern.

So disheartening, but not surprising. A man who would practically canonize Ted Kennedy --- well, what more is there for him to do? We certainly need to pray for our "princes." They appear to love hobnobbing with the rich and powerful. Somehow I doubt a poor homeless slob would be given such a splendid seat at the table. (Take a lower place, you poor slob. In fact, outside at the curb.)

Carol, this might be why it doesn't pass the "smell test". It appears that non-Christians will be there, too. To what idol will they be praying in a Catholic Church? Secondly, the Messiah Most Miserable is leading - not merely attending but leading - prayer in a Catholic Church? If he should "lead" anything there, it's the line to the confessional. I realize it's short notice, but will someone be able to arrange for a protest/picket outside this debacle?

At the very least they should be removing The Blessed Sacrament, I hope they have the brains to do that!
Carol, your right about the Mosque, LOL.

The Blessed Sacrament is in a separate chapel of its own (as is usually the case for a cathedral), so it will not necessarily have to be removed from the nave where the service will occur, though if that chapel is going to be used in any adjunct way for the service, then it should be removed from it.

I asked our pastor about this--he is a canon lawywer--and he said there is nothing in canon law against inter-faith services being held in Catholic Churches and that Popes John Paul and Benedict XVI both took part in inter0faith prayer services sponsored by the Community of Sant' Egidio in the Basilica in Assisi Italy in 1986 and in 2011

Anonymous, tell Father there is nothing in canon law that forbids him doing a Mass in his mother's lingerie, but we all know you can't do it.

That actually gives me chills.

What he is doing is setting you up to believe that unless something is memorialized as prohibited in law, then it is permissible.

Do you know how dangerous that makes him?

Well thank heavens with Pope Francis the days of Mass being said in one's mother lingerie is over. now if the word just drifts down to these effeminate young priests who can't tell a surplice from a teddie
