Carol, I don't think it's a question of "making 2,000 years of faithfulness to doctrines an enemy." I think it's the preternatural nature of self-benighted people (in this case, "Progressives") to paint those who disagree with them as "enemies of the people" who deserve death. I've experienced this when I've argued with such people. All they do is recite the same ideological cliches. When those are spent, they result to personal attacks. They are intellectually lazy, emotionally immature and spiritually deformed.
