Pope Francis is Sponsoring a Debate on Friends with Benefits and Contraception

I didn't think Steve Skojec could be outdone but this caricature of Pope Francis's shtick written by Amanda Marcotte takes First Place Blue Ribbon.

I once participated in some kind of a pre-election conference call where Amanda and her husband or sex buddy partner had a public conversation about - and this is disgusting - letting her dogs clean up after having sex.

She once said - and again, disgusting -

Vulgar doesn't do justice to her presentation.

Naturally, she has an ax to grind against the Sacred Institution that is the Custodian of the tools for salvation.

The definitions of virtue and truth in the Deposit of Faith are oppressing her.

With Pope Francis, there's a glimmer of hope:

Contraception, cohabitation, divorce, remarriage and same-sex unions: They're issues that pain and puzzle Roman Catholics who want to be true to both their church and themselves.

Now those issues are about to be put up for debate by their leader, a man who appears determined to push boundaries and effect change.

However, there is an expectation that, while the church will continue to officially deny Communion to people who divorce and remarry, Pope Francis "could offer local priests a work-around" of sorts.

I hate to be cynical, but it seems like this meeting will help Pope Francis shore up his image as a compassionate, empathetic pope by appearing to listen to people's concerns, all while not budging an inch on the long-standing traditions that harm women and gay people by denying them full human rights.

When other people have a code of ethics and morals, this denies her full human rights.

In Amanda's perfect world, everyone has to be a putana so she feels fully human.

She can't get comfortable in her own skin if the universe reserves human sexuality for uses proscribed by God.

Pope Francis is going to find a 'work around' for 'local priests' want to be 'true to themselves' instead of God.

Constructive permission to commit adultery against God would be a novel idea for a Pope indeed but she is not holding her breath.

Neither am I.
