Cardinal Burke is sent to Guam. Fr Z goes to the Spinzone.

As you have all heard by now, the Pope found a job in Guam for Cardinal Burke.

The press immediately suggested the Pope thought Cardinal Burke is responsible for the crusades involving the poster and fake newspaper, so he sent Cardinal Burke to Guam to silence him and see if the shenanigans stopped.

Fr. Z responded with a post suggesting everyone calm down, this is a good thing.

I see where Fr Z is coming from.

He is thinking like a rational person:

Do the Romans suppose Church Militant is a Mickey Mouse operation being run out of Cardinal Burke's apartment and sending +Burke to Guam will stop us?!

Moses supposes his toses are roses.  Moses supposes erroneously.  LOL.

I'd love to agree with Fr Z but I have way too many years of experience dealing with the antics of our episcopal leaders and their cronies.

Unfortunately, thinking sending Cardinal Burke to Guam will stop Church Militant is perfectly consistent with their modus operandi.

This is bishopthink.

When they are getting stung, they run out of their bunkers and kick the beehive.   And they do it for years before they come to terms with the fact that kicking the beehive makes the situation worse.

Some of them eventually learn at the school of hard knocks, but some of them never learn.   Rome is filled to the rafters with the latter.

For a few days or weeks, the bees will give them the time to make them feel safe.  And then one morning, the Romans will wake up in their bunkers to an Alfred Hitchcock sound of swarming bees.

You think you have silenced us?   Watch this!

One can certainly feel the patience wearing thin. These Cardinal Burke hijinks do set off a bit of an emotional storm. There is truly a "bridge too far", and, exasperated by their demonic tinkerings and plans, when they openly, brazenly attack one of our commanders, they are truly poking the hornet's nest.
There is, indeed, a limit to patience.

I agree, Fr. Z is looking through rose colored glasses. How long Cardinal Burke will be in 'Guam' is anyone's guess, but SUPPOSEDLY he is only going to handle one case of sexual abuse. If people were paying attention to what happened in Malta, with the Pope asking Cdl. Burke to 'handle the bad guy' and then turned around and said.....'Shame on you Raymond for handling the bad guy in that way!' I see red flags with this 'Guam' thingy. Would he try the same tactic just to marginalize Cdl. Burke? Don't know about anyone else, but I don't trust the Pope, especially after the Malta mess, any farther than I can throw him!!

Another setup of His Eminence by FrankenPope - according to the Timman at the StLouisCatholic.blogspot.com :

Oh, Boy. Here It Comes.

Steve Skojec asks, "Am I the only one who finds this incredibly suspicious?"

Answer: No.

Let's see. A thought experiment:

1. Send Cardinal Burke to the Knights with a mandate to stop the condom guy.
2. Serve up Cardinal Burke as having acted without authority.
3. Take over Knights.
4. Rehire condom guy.
5. Check press find out Cardinal Burke still has many supporters.
6. Send Burke to investigate a sexual abuse claim against the Bishop of Guam because, hey, why not send the Cardinal Patronus of the Knights of Malta to investigate a sexual abuse case against the Bishop? Everybody knows the Cardinal has the complete confidence of the Holy See, and everybody knows how much the Holy See is cracking down on sexual abusers that don't form part of the Pope's inner circle, right?
7. Serve up Cardinal Burke as having mishandled a sexual abuse claim.
8. Take over Malta (see what I did there)?
9. Affirm love for Bishop.
10. Check press to find out if we can finally can Burke for good.

Any questons?

Just one. When will the merciful God relent and have mercy on us? No, we don't deserve it, but please, God, we need it.

Tom,

I long for the days when we read stuff like that and had the luxury of thinking it was far fetched!

We have plenty of evidence to convict this Pooe of spiritual treason.

Sending Cardinal Burke to Guam appears like a sick joke by Pope Francis. I can imagine chortling about this with his Cardinal pals. Cardinal Burke will have the last laugh.
