Legacy of Pope Francis Pontificate: Mundus vult decipi, ergo decipiatur

Cardinal raises question: Is Pope Francis part of Church’s ‘final trial’?

A Dutch cardinal has said that Pope Francis’ failure to uphold the Church’s authentic faith makes him think of the Catechism of the Catholic Church’s prophecy of a “final trial” for the Church before the second coming of Christ.

Cardinal Willem Eijk, 64, the Archbishop of Utrecht, made the startling comment in an article published today at the National Catholic Register.

Startling? To whom?

I think the number of informed Catholics who haven't thought this pontificate could be the CCC prophecy of the Church's final trial could dance on the head of a pin.

The legacy of this papacy is Mundus vult decipi, ergo decipiatur!

If it isn't the prophecy, it might as well be.

Save for divine intervention the Catholic Church has entered a decline from which it will not recover--a spiral of doom that most of our hierarchy will hardly acknowledge. What will be left is a fractional remnant as Pope Benedict XVI has said. My belief is that we are now near the End Time.

Carol,

I would be interested to know what you think of the Bear's latest blog post, "The Catholic Outrage Blog Industry". He also has a lot of comments in the comment section.

I'm asking you because you have so much experience fighting the heretic wars.

I presume, based on some observation, that there are a lot of people who have followed the crisis in the Church who are paying a big personal price in anger, weakening faith, and neglecting duties.

Sounds like he is getting some on the side from the thugs.

Take everything the bear says w a grain of salt. He is against the death penalty and believes EENS is not dogma. Deep down he still wishes he was Eastern Orthodox.

If Catholics have been watching the destruction caused by this Pope even at a 'minimum' they would begin to wonder about where this is leading the Church. I have been watching this Papacy from the beginning and there is absolutely no doubt that we are now living the 'Great Apostasy' that begins at THE TOP.

Anonymous, Thanks for the heads up on Bear's article. I have a lot of thoughts! Will do a blog post. In brief, I agree with some of the things he says, but history has repeatedly shown us that corruption needs exposition to stop abusers. The problem is, it's so widespread in the Pope Francis pontificate, its happening every day which leaves little time to teach and evangelize.
