Cardinal Dolan's Bird Cage

I'm sure you have all been following Church Militant's coverage of our little problem in the Archdiocese of New York?

Apparently Fr. Miqueli's sadomasochism itch that cost the parish a million dollars started the domino-effect.

Do y'all remember this?

I'm afraid this is the tip of the tip of a ginormous iceberg.

I was surprised and sorry to hear the shocking allegations involving Cardinal O'Brien.

Cardinal Dolan has been giving this the nudge and the wink for a long time.

It takes effort not to speculate on the reasons why this subculture thrives in every diocese.

What's your guess that if the gay priests, Bishops, etc. were called out they would simply admit it and then make a legal case out of it. Also, most parishioners would not have a problem with it and be on the side of the gay priests. This is just more evidence of how far we have fallen. We need a Pope who will put an end to all of this but should recognize that an anti-Pope would probably be elected and take 80-90% of the remaining Catholics with him. If that is how the problem must be fixed how many Cardinals and Bishops would go along with it? Obviously, not many. But it must be done anyway.

Cardinal O'Brien was a heartbreak...he will be Confirming my CCD kids in 4 weeks, and I will have my hand on one of their shoulders. I will not be able to get the image of him as an S&M 'master' out of my head...it will be a very difficult Mass for me as I will have to fight with every fiber of my being not to whisper the word 'judas' when I'm next to his ear. This is all so huge and so bone-crushingly sad. They kept legions of good men out of the seminaries for generations, and Christ's temple is infested from top to bottom with filth. Pray for the good guys like you've never prayed before....they are such heroes and warriors. They must be feeling so very weary and abandoned. I really don't think The End can be far off.

Cardinal Dolan took the wrong advice from the wrong people. Instead of Listening to Fr. Groeschel he listened to people feeding him the poison pill. To be fair, Cdl Dolan 'inherited' a cesspool and it seems he found it too hard to fight the NY Diocese wide 'slime' that had grown out of proportion. That's not excusing his inaction, but it seems some of these Cardinals feel that if they start in, the entire Diocese will crumble. If he would just realize that we need to start over anyway with the amount of filth that has permeated the Church, and there's no time like the present. Too many souls are being lost, as if even loosing one is too many. These men cannot be Christian let alone Catholic, and they have permeated the Church like a growing cancer. If this is happening in NY, this is happening here in Chicago, and all other major Diocese in this country and beyond. And you are correct Susan, they end absolutely CANNOT be far off.

So a cardinal who was an S & M "master" is being allowed to confirm pre-teens.

St. Peter Damian probably foresaw this day a millennium ago.

I made a mistake....mea culpa. We are getting the current military Diocese Bp. for our Confirmation...as far as I know he's a good guy (thanks be to God!) I would have been sorely tempted to use a right hook on O'Brien.

I've been waiting for someone to comment on this report from Church Militant.

Susan, your poor children. Is there any way you can go elsewhere to have them confirmed?

Carol is right. There is a subculture is many dioceses that isn't unlike that in the Archdiocese of New York. Shame on Cardinal "Bravo" for tolerating it. Wouldn't it be better if they just all came clean with all the rot? We are adults. We can take it. Just let it all come out so the healing process can begin.

Unfortunately, I think the Church is more interested in protecting its reputation. Whatever is left of it these days.

No no no...as I stated, I got the wrong guy....O'Brien is NOT doing our Confirmation. Sorry for the mix-up.
