Joan Chittister's Lenten Abortion Reflection

The poor Canadians will be treated to a Lenten Abortion Reflection courtesy of Joan Chittister.

The premise of her argument?

If men can kill the Nazis and terrorists in war or self-defense, why oh why can't women kill the children they don't want?

However, “my problem lies in the fact that we make it an absolute,” she added. “We say that we can never, under any circumstances whatsoever, allow abortion, and yet we allow death.
“Men, men can kill for a number of reasons,” she continued. “Men can kill to defend themselves, men can kill to defend the country, men can kill to punish the people that they believe should be killed. And we never call those deaths absolute. ... But in abortion, we allow no discussion whatsoever of possible times when it would not be a matter.”

So men are out there killing people to punish them if they believe they should be killed and they just won't let the women-folk kill their youngins.

Oh, the injustice of it all.

She really has the pins for men.

This is supposed to inspire the faithful for Lent?

Lent as in sacrifice, abstinence, fasting, prayer, worship, penance, preparing for the solemnity of Holy Week and Easter?

Hi Carol,
Thanks for printing this. I'm giving up the internet for Lent, but will pray about this woman's (can't call her "Sister" somehow) attitude and that of others of her ilk. And as always, thanks for the good work. (I hope there is some improvement in the situation with your priest friend.)

Mary,

Have a wonderful Lent. God willing, we'll see you on the other side of Easter morn. Pray for us as we will for you!

Yes - more news coming shortly on my priest friend.
