The Church and the antichurch, Christ and the antichrist

"We are now standing in the face of the greatest historical confrontation humanity has ever experienced. We are now facing the final confrontation between the Church and the antichurch, between the Gospel and the anti-gospel, between Christ and the antichrist. This confrontation lies within the plans of Divine Providence. It is, therefore, in God's Plan, and it must be a trial which the Church must take up, and face courageously." - Venerable Pope John Paul II

The Antichrist's disciples within the Church are working at a feverish pace in order to inflict maximum damage. The Judases in the Church operate from both sides of the aisle - on one side you have the heterodox dissenters, while on the other - wreaking their own version of destruction - are the orthodox wolves in sheep's clothing who are leading double lives.

Carol: You MUST read this Address by Cardinal Burke: The Fall of the Christian West. It is peerless. You can see the influence of Hardon SJ on his thinking.

Here is an excerpt from Cardinal Burke's address--he quotes, my man, Hardon SJ:

"Finally, there is the martyrdom of witness, the most common form of martyrdom, the martyrdom which is inherent to the Christian life. It can take the form of suffering personal hostility or simply indifference in giving the witness of holiness of life. The Servant of God Father Hardon describes the martyrdom of witness with these words:

All that we have seen about the martyrdom by violence applies here too, but the method of opposition is different. Here the firm believer in the Church's teaching authority; the devoted servant of the papacy; the convinced pastor who insists on sound doctrine to his flock; the dedicated religious who want to remain faithful to their vows of authentic poverty, honest chastity and sincere obedience; the firm parents who are concerned about the religious and moral training of their children and are willing to sacrifice generously to build and care for a Christian family – natural or adopted – such persons will not be spared also active criticism and open opposition, But they must especially be ready to live in an atmosphere of coldness to their deepest beliefs.

Hardon also said that not to believe that we need the faith of living martyrs in our day is to be living in a dream...

Who are the orthodox wolves in sheep's clothing?

Veronica, you can throw Bernard Law and McGuire into that category.
Certainly, Law didn't abuse anyone personally but his coverups couldn't be described as "orthodox" Christian behavior by any stretch of the imagination.

Joe, even I know that!

I thought Marie was referring to the SSPX or or some such other organization.

When I hear "orthodox", my mind does not equate that immediately with anyone in the Church.

@ Veroina--lol. I know. It was never a word in my vocabulary until I encountered the "unorthodox" view from within the Church, i.e., the enemies from within.

I have always thought that the distincion between libeal and convervative re the chuch is false dichotomy. The Church is not a political party. In my mind, there are those who are faithful (orthodox) and those who are unfaithful (unorthodox). That is just me. I think Catherine makes a good point. There are enemies of the Church in both camps.

Isn't it sad, Maria?

I was referring to prominent Catholics who profess allegiance to the Church's teachings and are well respected in the Catholic community, but end up being exposed as leading lives opposed to those same teachings. Because these individuals are well-known, their hypocrisy causes confusion/scandal amongst the faithful.

Catherine, thank you. Now I understand, and I agree.

You can sleep peacefully tonight knowing that I do. (Ha! Ha!)

We are all on the same page! It is sad beyond words, Veronica.

Re Bernard Law:

JP2 in an act of papal largesse bestowed upon him his sinecure in Rome. B16 has by his inaction confirmed it. There is no justice in the novus ordo seclorum Church.

Voltaire was right: écrasez l'infâme.

Until Bernie is consigned to eating locusts in the Egyptian desert and wearing sackcloth and ashes, the Catholic Church will remain a morass of fetid corruption.

In the meantime, Seán of the Franciscan sandals expands in girth while the local Church shrinks. A fitting symbol, he, of the hypocrisy of the cancelleria grassa (no reference to the underpaid corpulent superintendant of schools intended).

Why would anyone give a dime to this corrupt organization? Fools.

Jack, the reason there's no justice is because the prelates believe they're beyond justice. They might not say so openly, but their actions speak louder than words. They have become so isolated from reality that not even massive reductions in Mass attendance and defections from the Church, let alone donations, will affect them. The only things that matter to them are their egos, positions and status. They're nothing but the "blind shepherds" and the "false shepherds" Isaiah (56: 9-12) and Ezekiel (chapter 34) talk about.

The episcopacy has become a Mafia, concerned only with self-protection and self-sustenance. The sooner the American justice system recognizes that, the better the Church will be.

In any event, God is not mocked. These apostate prelates will be fitted for asbestos swimwear sooner than they would like to admit!
