It looks like an autopsy in stone

What were they thinking?

I don't know, Carol. Today "art" is supposed to be functional. Maybe the Italian army could store all the Naples garbage in it until they figure out where to dump it?

No wonder the Mohammedans don't permit images. It's time for a new iconoclasm.

For the better:

Virgin Mary statue dedicated at Indiana church: Our Lady of the New Millennium statue at Sacred Heart Church in Palos Hills.

Associated Press, May 23, 2011

Hundreds of people joined Cardinal Francis George of Chicago at the dedication of a three-story-tall statue of the Virgin Mary at its permanent home at a northwestern Indiana Catholic church.

The 34-foot-tall Our Lady of the New Millennium statue traveled around the Chicago area for about a decade before being placed outside St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in the town of St. John in April.

George joked that like many former Chicagoans, the metal statue now has a home in northwestern Indiana.

Gary Bishop Dale Melczek said he hoped the statue would help draw pilgrims to the Shrine of Christ's Passion at the church.
