This is pride, not humility and it is furthermore, rude.

This left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Matthew 20:25-28
English Standard Version (ESV)
25 But Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. 26 It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant,[a] 27 and whoever would be first among you must be your slave,[b] 28 even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Anonymous,

People who use that quote to imply it pertains to the Pope usually have an agenda. It pertains to tyrants who impose burdens upon the people who belong the people of God.

We are all with him on cutting the prince of the Church crap. If he felt talented musicians playing their best for the Vicar of Christ offends his humility, he should have declined the I invitation ahead of time, graciously and politely.

To snub the little drummer boys and girls in the public square to tee up yet another opportunity to tell us all how humble he is, is Uncle Screwtape humility.

The more he pulls these publicity stunts to explain how humble he is, the less genuine his humility appears to be.

This is not something a humble man would do to his fellow human beings. It's something you would expect from a jerk.

We have no way of knowing whether he declined this invitation some time ago, and that this was ignored by those running the event. Bear in mind, this invitation was for his predecessor.

My guess, and that is all it is, is that there is a strong effort on the part of bureaucrats to "control" or "manage" him (that is how bureaucracies everywhere operate), and he is letting them know that he is NOT going to be "managed".

Whether this event was part of that, again, is something we cannot know.

There is no question a crew circles the wagons of a bishop and pope to control him, and we are all in agreement this is the the problemo.

I didn't use the quote which he used to explain his absence, but it was a doozy. Rude and abrasive to people who came to give talent back to the Mystical Body of Christ is neither the time, place or right people to flex your humble muscles upon.

All he has to do is remove the corrupt prelates. I refuse to play along with the delusion that he is pulling these stunts because the corrupt lord it over him.

There is nobody over him but the Holy Spirit. He has the power to remove the corrupt faster than he would remove a pedophile. The corrupt are more sinister than than the pedophiles. The crimes against the Church and souls are more evil.

All people need to be be converted to Christ, not just the poor, even talented musicians do. Wall street bankers need his guidance just as much as poor people, maybe even more-so.
