Sissies on the See

What do you make of this appointment today?

Another fox in the hen house.

Definitely getting weirder.

My take as one living under Wuerl..http://restore-dc-catholicism.blogspot.com/2013/12/congregation-for-bishops-burke-out.html

This appointment demonstrates that Pope Francis either doesn't know what he's doing, doesn't know the American church or doesn't care. For a man not only to "adamantly refuse," as "Restore-DC-Catholicism" put it, to implement Canon 915 (behavior that the Vatican probably knows about) but who disciplines a priest who follows Canon Law by not giving the Eucharist to a self-proclaimed "Buddhist lesbian" to earn such a position demonstrates that the hierarchy not only is dangerously distant from the laity but from everything it claims to believe in!

What's very interesting is that the Patheos crowd (typified by Mark Shea) doesn't think this means all that much!

Here's Shea's response:

If Shea really thinks this is "boring," then he certainly doesn't know the current state of the Church!

I find it truly fascinating that Francis' most persistent critics are "conservative" and "traditionalist" Catholics. That's a good thing, because the "moderates" and "liberals" are too infatuated either with their own agendas or blind loyalty to the ecclesiastical institution.
