Blessed Feast of the Assumption

All of your personal intentions are in my prayers.

Please remember to pray for our youth attending WYD in Madrid on this blessed feast.

It's a shame the Bishops of the US have decide since it's too much to ask Catholic's to go to Mass 2 days in a row & this Feast is not a Holyday of Obligation, this year. Turning your back on Our Lord's Mother is not a good thing to do..

It's brutal.

Makes it really hard for people who work but would have liked to go to Mass to get there.

St. Anthony's has really weird weekday Mass times. It's all well and good if you're on the redline but those of us on the commuter rail would have to leave our houses at 4 in the AM to get to a morning Mass and be to work on time.

Praying for your intentions too,Carol.

Thanks Caroline. How's things at the empty nest?

Carol - I feel your anguish, but had it been an Obligation perhaps they would have had evening Masses..perhaps

The Assumption is not a holy day of obligation this year? That I did not know. Écrasez l'infâme!

Thanks for the prayers Carol. I will pray for your personal intentions as well. Mine are that the Church slough off the heresy of protestantism run rampant since that council. And that the novus ordo bite the dust.

Holy Days of obligations are now like federal holidays, right? Pathetic. I won't turn my back. I will be at the National Shrine tomorrow. And, I will most assuredly remember you and your intentions, my friend.

Hi Jack--Where have you been. They have re-arranged all these things, you know, so no one will be inconvenienced, lol. They don't want people to have to attend Mass two days in a row, for heaven's sake. Enough Mass chat from me for one week end...

Ugh...the empty nest. I'm happy/sad, cheery/dreary, ecstatic when I get a text message...and I write a lot.
So, overall.. pathetic.
You are so kind to ask. : )

God reward you for praying for me, Carol. As an act of charity, please continue to do so. If you would be so kind as to ask Our Blessed Mother, once and for all, to dispel the confusion that reigns supreme in my brain by shedding a ray of Her heavenly light and wisdom my way.

Yesterday, the 14th, I do not know if I have ever in my life sunk to such depths of desolation and discouragement.

Veronica: I have been remembering you in my prayer. I have been there, Veronica. I will definitely ask Our Lady to give you understanding and hope. Storm heaven today on the Assumption. The Blesed Mother granted a favor today maybe she will answers yours too. Hang in there.

Thank you, Maria, and God reward you.

I couldn't help but think of you yesterday during Mass. The problem with my diocese is that there are two sedevacantist and one sspx chapel in it. These chapels have managed to lure away any Catholic that would be able to "stand in solidarity" (don't you love that phrase?!!) with me.

Yesterday, a family I had never seen before sat next to me. They were obviously either not from the diocese, or they were returnees to the Church from either the sspx or the sedevacantists. Somehow I doubt I will see them again. My parish is a bit too cold turkey for people like that.

Still, those are the kind of people my parish needs. If everyone walks away seeking their own spiritual comfort, it is no wonder the place is as bad as it is.

If I was a saint, I could effect change. However, surprising as this may be to all of you here, I am not (are you laughing?).

Veronica: These folks are disobedient and placing their souls at risk. It takes great courage to persevere in these circumstances. You have to beg for His grace.

Do you have Opus Dei in your area? I went to one of their centers today. Sheer heaven. I cried when the priest genuflected and opened the tabernacle, for adoration, w/ such reverence and love.

The other thing that comes to mind is investigating orthodox convents. Perhaps you could attend one of their Masses?

The pastor at my church offered two Masses today, once at 7:30 am and one at 5:30 pm. :-)

Maria, I am in a small and very controlled diocese. An Opus Dei priest? You must be kidding!! Orthodox convent? Well, we do have an MC convent, but it is too far from where I live else I would go there for daily Mass.

In these days, it is better to live in a big city as there are more options.

Lynne - you lucky dog! You are not in Massachusetts, I trust?

Veronica, You're in good company on this blog! The only saint here is Jack O'Malley. Oh wait...

:O)

Seriously, I'm sorry to hear you're discouraged. Keep up the good fight. I second Maria's suggestion to look for Opus Dei.

God never abandons us - somewhere there is a good solid Liturgy. A convent, a chapel in a hospital, a seminary -- it is there somewhere. Prayers.

What is wrong w/ an Opus Dei priest? And, what is a controlled diocese, lol?

EWTN was an enormous help to me when things were bad here.

Opus Dei priests are fabulous. You don't have to join opus dei - but the priests ARE spectacular.

Carol and Maria:

How would I be able to find out if there is an Opus Dei priest here? If there is, he keeps it quiet as I have never heard of one being here.

I am not sure if your question, Maria, was serious about a controlled diocese, but I will answer it. A controlled diocese is small enough where a handful of people who are stuck in the sixties control everything with the backing of the bishop. You would think that this diocese would make an attempt and a sincere effort to regain the souls lost to the sspx and the sedevacantist chapels, but they do not care. They are glad to be rid of these people and do not want them in the diocesan churches.

I do not own a television, so I cannot watch EWTN, and the Catholic radio station we have, got rid of anyone on it that I would have listened to and put their own stuff on it.

Things are looking up though! One of our priests said that in twenty years, things would be different!!

Veronica: I get the control scenario. Pitiful. Where do you live?I can look it up for you.

Maria,

I would gladly tell you my location. Not, however, on the blog. After what I saw happen to you on one of the threads, the less some people know, the better off we are.
