Ireland's Adolf Hitler, Enda Kenny, being honored at Boston College

No doubt you've already heard the news that the Ireland's Adolf Hitler is being honored at Boston College.

As you can imagine, Boston (and national) prolifers have been quite busy behind the scenes.

I'll bet you're wondering how a Cardinal Archbishop of Boston would respond to the honoring of a man whose current project is lethally exterminating the infants of financially and spiritually impoverished women?

1. He released a statement saying Kenny is doing irreparable harm and disservice to Christ's Church.
2. He immediately used his authority to demand Boston College rescind the invitation.

Responding to a request for comment, the Archdiocese of Boston noted that Cardinal Sean O'Malley was not scheduled to attend the Commencement due to another commitment.

 

Are we to understand this as the Cardinal's response?

 

He isn't going to be there due to the fact he has another event already on his calendar?

I sent followup emails asking Terry, the Vicar General (among others) to have the courtesy to respond, explaining time is of the essence and prolife Catholics intend to appeal to the Holy See for intervention, explaining that there's isn't a dime's worth of difference between 'honoring' Kenny and the Taliban.


They responded with the usual and customary/decades-old pastoral policy.  You know the one?

Same one they used on mothers reporting their children were being raped:  When they do not call or respond to your communications pleading with them to stop the abuse - you know it's them.

CJ Doyle of the Catholic Action League has called for a protest (more on that later), released the following:

The Catholic Action League of Massachusetts today condemned Jesuit administered Boston College for selecting Republic of Ireland Taoiseach Enda Kenny as its 2013 Commencement Speaker. The university will also confer an honorary Doctor of Laws degree on Kenny during commencement exercises on May 20th.

 

On April 30th, Kenny's coalition government introduced legislation with the Orwellian title "The Protection of Life during Pregnancy Bill 2013," which would legalise abortion in Ireland under the guise of preventing the suicide of pregnant women. As there is no gestational age limit to the measure, it would mean abortion on demand, under threat of suicide, through all nine months of pregnancy.

 

Catholic hospitals would be forced to comply with the proposed law. Moreover, the bill contains no conscience clause protections for physicians, nurses, and other health care workers.

 

The Catholic Church has denounced the measure and called upon the Irish people to lobby their elected representatives to oppose it. Cardinal Sean Brady, the Primate of Ireland, said the bill, if approved would "make the direct and intentional killing of unborn children lawful in Ireland." Brady went on to say that: "It is a tragic moment for Irish society when we regard the the deliberate destruction of a completely innocent person as an acceptable response to the threat of the preventable death of another person."

 

Kenny has threatened to expel pro-life Catholic TDs (members of parliament) from his Fine Gael parliamentary party if they refuse to vote for measure, which is expected to be acted upon in July.

 

 Last year, Kenny's government published legislation---The Criminal Justice (Withholding of Information on Offences Against Children and Vulnerable Persons) Bill---which would impose criminal penalties, including imprisonment up to five years, on priests who refuse to violate the seal of the confessional in cases of sexual abuse.

 

In a July, 2011 speech, Kenny misrepresented the words of Pope Benedict XVI to imply that the Pontiff approved the cover up of sexual abuse and castigated what he called the "dysfunction, disconnection, elitism" and "narcissism" of the Vatican. Following that attack, Kenny closed the Irish Embassy to the Holy See.

 

Boston College said Kenny represents the "progressive center" and is committed to "social justice."

 

The Catholic Action League called Kenny's selection "an astonishing, appalling, disgraceful and deplorable act of betrayal."

 

Catholic Action League Executive Director C. J. Doyle stated:"Even for a university whose Catholic identity is as compromised as that of BC, this decision is shameful and dishonorable. Boston College has gone beyond promoting dissent against Catholic teaching to giving aid and comfort to the enemies of the Church. Every faithful Catholic in this country ought to protest against this odious perfidy."

Judie Brown of the American Life League has expressed the reasons why the invitation should be rescinded (much more graciously than I) along with many other local and national prolifers.

Boston College spokesperson Jack Dunn today told a reporter for the Irish Times that their ceremony honoring Enda Kenny has nothing to do with his lethal extermination of Irish children.

Get it?

Pay no attention to the dismembered bodies of the victims of Kenny's political empire.

Dunn said they dig Kenny because is an internationally respected leader, with a well-known reputation for (-brace yourself-) promoting human rights that resonate with Boston College.  It's all about the sons of Boston's Irish immigrants. 

How's that for diabolical?

On the same day the Cardinal released his response, somebody posted a video on youtube that was a dramatic enactment.

In a village in the wiles of some jungle, a black family - grandparents, parents, children - were being beaten with pieces of trees by others in the village.  There was a very large crowd - hundreds - standing by watching it.  The beating was driving them into a nearby pit, where trees were lit on fire. The video zoomed in on the victims as they desperately tried to escape.  The villagers beat them back into the pit. Sometimes picking them up and throwing them into it.  The victims rocked back and forth and wailed as the fire consumed their clothes and then their flesh.  Hundreds stood around with their arms folded, watching.

Sickened by Boston College and Fr. Fahey, sickened the Cardinal, sickened by the Archdiocese, I forced myself to watch it. 

This is exactly what they are doing.

What many are doing.

Too many are doing.

Praying for the victims in that village, the hundreds of thousands who die every day at the hands of their tyrants, those who watch with their arms folded, those who support and honor the liars and murderers. 

Testifying: We see what they are doing and God sees what they are doing.

Jack Dunne said it's about heritage. Just a couple of harps celebrating their heritage with a jig. I guess it's a good thing for Boston Fr. Leahy and Jack Dunne are not Russians. It is entirely possible they'd honor a couple of bombers. Independent of bombings. Of course.

Cardinal O'Malley on the Sr. Carol Keehan and Obama Divorce

Sr. Keehan and the Catholic Health Association 'rejects' Obama's Obamacare 'compromise'.

Here's an interesting observation on this 180 from the perspective of Catholic ethics and the usual and customary behaviors of the Bishops and nuns belonging to the Woodstock generation.

Sister was completely on board the abortion provisions of Obamacare when she thought the carrying out of the ethical problems in the mandate would be arms-length enough to absolve her of her own actions to help put it all in place. It was perfectly acceptable for Sr. Keehan to force educated Catholic doctors, nurses, pharmacists, business owners to pass out Obamacare crack pipes to the uncatechized but now that the ethical and salvific choices are hers to make, she wants freedom from the tyranny of the government she helped put into place.

When the chickens they hatch come home to roost and the onus is on them to do harm to souls, they don't want to execute their own policies.

Why do you suppose that is?

Did you see Cardinal O'Malley's statements on the Vatican's intercession of Sr. Keehan and renegade nuns?

He is despondent. Here he is is trying to evangelize and the Vatican has teed up a controversy. The Pope is his greatest distraction.

O’Malley declined to assign blame for what he described as misrepresentation of the church’s attitude toward women, but a spokesman later clarified that O’Malley believes the church hierarchy could do a better job communicating complex subjects and that the media have unfairly characterized the issues and linked matters that are unrelated to one another.

You read that right. It isn't Joan Chittister, Carol Keehan et al, who could do a better job communicating complex theology on human sexuality and the sanctity of life.

When the Cardinal fills our schools and initiatives and Chancery with these nuns and the people they have misled, that is not doing irreparable harm to the community of the faithful.

If you plow through the seven years of the Cardinal's communications, you'll find nothing saying the women misleading a generation of Catholics into promiscuity and murdering their own children are having problems communicating the complexities of doctrine and they are doing great disservice to the Church.

When Fr. John Unni delivers whacked out messages like this one, or the head of the Catholic Schools holds a 40,00 per plate fundraiser for the treacherous dictator who has this country on the trajectory of catastrophic murder and mayhem, these are not the people who need to revamp their message.

Get it?

He and Terry Donilon and the nuns and Jack Connors and John Unni and those they have misled are not the people with communication problems. The Cardinal is despondent because the Pope's communications are a distraction to their impeccable service to Christ's Church.

The Cardinal has fortified the profound and dangerous culture of attacking those who are reporting errors and dysfunction he has the responsibility to correct. It is notIt is never the people pulfering and causing irreperable harm thatare giving the Cardinal the doldrums. It is always the people reporting it and asking him to stop the victimizations. It is not a safe environment for children or any person of good will concerned about the personal or spiritual welfare of the faithful. Reporting the dangerous culture the Cardinal has instituted through the protocol and canonical guidance continues to result in the protection of Episcopal misfeasance and malfeasance by doing nothing or worse, giving them a red cap, rewards and accolades.

Other than continuing to expose it openly, fast, pray, offer up suffering, I'm not sure what else we can do.

I sure wish I had a nickel for every time Catholics in Boston repeated this phrase for close to a decade.

It took years to come to the full realization that he is just an ornament.

They roll him out of bed, prop him in the car and take him from one adventure to another. The man has absolutely no idea what is happening to the souls under his charge and that i the way he likes it. As you can see from the picture, this week one of the stops was the circus.

Truth is stranger than fiction.

What's next? An adventure on the Yellowbrook Road with Dorothy, Toto and the Lollipop kids on their way to find the Wizard? Maybe the Strawman will lend him his brain?


Here's a perfect example of the fleecing of his flock while he's being driven around 24/7 being entertained.

In the vacuum of the where's waldo leadership at the Chancery, Margery Egan is herding the lambs to Obama's riots and is hoping to see the Cardinal join class warfare.

Thankfully, they haven't returned her phone calls. Lucky for us, his donors are all rich and he knows where his bread is buttered. Still, the gimme stuff for free Catholics finally have a chance to recreate those three days at Woodstock and they're not letting go of it anytime soon.


And what a proud moment for Catholics around here desperate for the hierarchy to interrupt its crusade against gays and abortion...

It is no surprise that counterfeit Catholics like Margery Eagan and Steve Krueger want the Church to give up its resistance to abortion and embrace the leftists of Occupy Boston (I pray we see O'Malley soon, 10/16/2011).
Having spent their careers collaborating with the abortion culture, the last thing Eagan and Krueger want to hear is the Church reminding people of the more than fifty million unborn children killed by surgical abortion alone in this country since 1973, not to mention the millions more destroyed by abortion inducing chemical contraceptives.
Eagan is engaged in gross hypocrisy when she laments the plight of the poor, but endorses the legal slaughter of the poorest and most vulnerable among us --- the unborn.

More Wreckovation and Lies from the Archdiocese of Boston

Earlier this week, Cardinal O'Malley moved the body of Boston's first Cardinal and tore down his mausoleum to close the sale of the Chancery to Boston College. Boston College escrowed 2 million dollars pending the removal of Cardinal O'Connell's body since 2004.

Cardinal O'Malley made the deal to disinter O'Connell's body and demolish his mausoleum without permission or even a courtesy call from his relatives. Upon learning of the deal, they promptly took the Cardinal to court where the matter has been tied up since 2004.

They didn't have the decency to hire a hearse. The gravediggers dug him up and the body was thrown onto the back of their truck.

Our friends at BCI point out yet another stupid lie from the Archdiocese. The Cardinal sold all of the land to Boston College. Our Catholic seminary is literally leasing air space on the parcel formerly owned by the Archdiocese and those entitled to her inheritance, built up over the last 200 years.

Last October, we reported in “Seminary Squeezola: BC Brighton Campus Plans” that St. Johns Hall is all that remains of the former St. Johns Seminary property for the seminary, and even that building sits on land now owned by Boston College. The building itself is legally considered a “condominium.” You can verify that in the St. Johns Seminary 2010 annual report on page 9, where it says: “The Seminary retained an ownership of a condominium in St. John’s Hall.”

Bottom line: there are in reality no more ”grounds of St. John’s Seminary.” BC owns all the land. Thus, the remains of Cardinal O’Connell were moved from the former chapel and mauselium that was on land currently owned by BC, to another plot of land that is also owned by BC, which is very close to St. John’s Seminary. Cardinal O’Connell was re-buried in a gravesite which is today legally Boston College property, not the “grounds of St. John’s Seminary.”

How strange, peculiar and unnecessary it is to lie about the situation.

It is duly noted by Boston Catholics that though the Archbishop couldn't make the time to perform his duty to give the honor and respect Cardinal O'Connell deserved under these most grievous circumstances, he was able to make the time to be present and accounted for to cry like a banshee at Myra Kraft's funeral.

The chicanery is breathtaking.

Loving in the Truth at St. Cecilia's - What Would Jesus Do?

If you go to the Mass today, please, be wise and gentle.

All who come to an event that is pitched as an open invitation from the Church are bruised reeds. Above all else, our desire is to bring them to conversion.

It is true that some will come to make this some kind of territorial and cultural victory over the Deposit of Faith. But God can even use our stupid ideas to see if He can get us on the hook. He has the ability to soften the hardest of hearts.

I am living proof.

We don't want to engage in any battle in the cultural war waged by anyone, because souls rebelling are so far from a state of Grace, clonking them on the head on way into the door could cause them to rebel further - and perhaps they will never approach the Deposit of Faith.

The goal is to drive out the false teaching and bring in Courage. There is a time and place to continue with these goals. The people coming to Church today, they are not the parties that will help us achieve this goal. That battle is at 66 Brooks Drive and the Holy See.

Let's welcome, pray and see if Unni has been kicked onto the right trajectory. If he is not, we pick up that battle tomorrow.

These are my thoughts, for what they are worth.

Last week we began a look at the controversy at St. Cecilia’s Church in Boston over the scheduling of a Mass originally advertised to celebrate “gay pride” and then after criticism postponed and relabeled to a “welcoming Mass,” which while perhaps no longer explicitly extolling gay pride still seems poised to give no-questions-asked hospitality to those who believe that gay pride should be glorified, including within the context of a Catholic Mass.

We noted that the controversy raises several concerns that extend beyond a particular parish or archdiocese with regard to the authentic pastoral care the Church owes those immersed in a gay lifestyle or in any lifestyle that exalts practices that are incompatible with the Gospel. The only adequate Christian response to anyone is love, but this love can never remain a shallow hospitality that fails to help the person recognize and respond to the rather conspicuous ways Christ is challenging him to turn away from sin and believe in the Gospel. Particularly with those ensconced in a gay lifestyle — which is a way of life built on regarding several basic truths of anthropology, sexual morality, marriage, Scriptural inspiration, and magisterial authority as antiquated and repressive “hang-ups” from which people need to be liberated — the Church’s charity must always be bound to the compassionate, clear and compelling presentation of the fullness of the truth that alone can set them free (Jn 8:32). The stakes of the Church’s failure to carry out this service to the truth are huge, not only for those presently involved in a gay lifestyle, but also for the conscience formation of all in the Church and society....

With that in mind, we will examine three common falsehoods that have come to the surface in the St. Cecilia’s controversy to which the Church must respond with the truth.

It is a masterpiece on answering the question "What would Jesus do".

Not to undermine the theology, so lovingly and gracefully delivered, I wanted, especially for today, to point out the following:

The third falsehood relates to the common calumny that any opposition to the gay agenda, or any criticism of a “gay pride Mass,” comes exclusively from “homophobia” or “hatred” for those with same-sex attractions, as a few members of St. Cecilia’s alleged in interviews with the media. While there’s no dispute that, sadly, in some places real homophobia does exist, ministers to the gay community have a duty not only not to abet this confusion but to disabuse those entrusted to their care from thinking the Church’s teachings on same-sex activities are based on hatred rather than love grounded in truth; they also have the responsibility to remind them that judging others or mendaciously bullying others with epithets about their character are grave sins that those with same-sex attractions are not exempt from committing.

These false accusations, however, lead to a larger point about how much the tide has turned with regard to the direction of bullying between those with same-sex attractions and others in society. Whereas in the past, those with same sex attractions were often subject to ill-treatment and ridicule on account of their attractions, including sadly by those who claimed to be Christian, now it’s Christians who are often subjected to ridicule and, in a growing number of cases, discrimination. If anyone doubts this point, they should just ponder what Constance Cervone of Jamaica Plain said in a June 28 Boston Globe article on St. Cecilia’s: “It was harder for me … to come out as a Catholic than as a gay person.” This is an indication that, at least for her, “Christianophobia” is presently more menacing than “homophobia.” The Church as a whole, and those who minister to the gay community in particular, must have the courage to address this.

These things should be pondered today - and every day going forward when dealing with Fr. Unni and the souls being led by his chaotic spiritual leadership.

Archdiocese Turns Down St. Mary's Parents

As the closing of St. Mary of the Assumption School nears, members of the Parent Teacher Association say they want to open an independent private school to provide Catholic education in the northern part of the city.

But just as earlier this week when the group raised $335,000 in a last effort to keep St. Mary open, the Archdiocese of Boston has said no.

Oh, I get it. They need another empty building on their hands.

Wasn't the hype about Catholic education all about opening new schools?

All they seem to be doing is closing schools.

Everything they touch seems to turn to poo.

Anyway, it's interesting that Donilon is quoted now like he is the Archbishop.

Where is the Archbishop?

Does he know?

We are not entertaining this , as there are very good options in the greater Lawrence area,"

The folks in the Chancery making three hundred grand each wouldn't get this, but Lawrence is a big place. Poor people don't have cars or means to get their children across town.

I think there's a breaking story Daughters of St. Paul that will put this fib out of it's misery, won't it.

The truth is, retaliation is the operating system of the Archbishop's fiefdom and the Cardinal's hands have blood on them. Sadly, he is involved.

Boston bloggers have emails, phone calls that tell a sad and rather frightening story of corruption, bullying and retaliation. Anyone who has ever dealt with them about anything beyond the smoke and mirrors of their PR campaigns is painfully aware of it.

I feel so horrible, my heart breaks every time I think about it," said Ingrid Castillo, whose son, Jesus, 7 attends St. Mary.

"I feel they (archdiocesan officials) don't have a heart because they are taking away education from the poor and faith of children."

They've thrown Jesus and the education of our faith into the street. What more is there to say. She has said it all.

Boston Globe Coverage of Cardinal O'Malley's Circus in Ireland

The Boston Globe has a few articles today on the Catholic Church in Ireland and the fix-it circus Cardinal O'Malley has brought into town.

The first article is coverage of people who have wandered from the Divinity of Christ to trump 2000 years worth of the intellect of the Holy Spirit with their own so they can pursue their own agendas.

Here's how one woman, who calls herself a 'liturgist' (what the heck is that??)describes it:

“The sexual abuse crisis has been the catalyst for a much deeper question that was emerging anyway — it’s the whole question of faith, of what it means to be a Christian. Do we believe all of what we profess?’’ said Mary Connolly, a liturgist for the Archdiocese of Tuam, which includes Westport, and a parishioner at St. Mary’s Church. “It’s kind of an awakening of a post-modern society. . . . We all have a choice now.’’

There sure is a sucker born every minute, isn't there.

The story also features a gentleman who was living with his girlfriend and left the Church when the conditions to enter the Sacrament of Marriage were explained to him.

What makes people so obstinate about the rules about Sacraments?

People flock to information about how to keep their body healthy with exercise. They can't get enough on the topic of eating healthy. Some people even approach a conversation about the (pagan) power of a crystal or magnetic bracelet with an open mind.

I'm all for stretching the muscles of your body and doing things to feel fit. But did you ever notice that studios who sell 'yoga' offer it as more than a muscular tune up? When you talk to people who swear by it, the'll tell you that it's a journey to the center of yourself as a fix for your turbulent animus.

This one is a no brainer for me. If my animus is turbulent, I'm usually the person I'm trying to get away from so the last place I want to go is a journey to the center of me. :)

You can go to an exercise class as a skeptic and participate in what the class is doing without listening to the directions or putting any effort it. You can even show up at class and reject the instructions, do it your own way and hurt yourself.

I once met a woman who came to weight watcher meetings each week who would sit down and tell anyone nearby who would listen that it was balderdash. She said she had found the key to successful weight loss - eating anything you wanted whenever you wanted it.

Thanks for the tip lady, but anytime I march my fanny to Weight Watchers, eating whatever I wanted whenever I wanted, it is how the weight went on, not off.

Seriously, I'm not making this up. The woman said when your mentality is depriving yourself of french fries and chocolate, you'll wind up feeling deprived and then overeating.

Sadly, the scale went up every week for her and she eventually stopped coming. I don't think it panned out because I saw her six months later and she looked like she gained 50 pounds.

My point is, people know that their animus is fed by a combination of of body, intellect/mind and spirit and all of these things hunger to be fed. A general rule of thumb to keep in mind - if you want something, you better have the tools for a discernment process in place before you go ahead and take it.

When you enter into a battle with your body, mind or spirit, it all depends on your objectives.

Are you there to learn how to recognize your impulsive unhealthy desires, how to not give in to them and learn new healthy habits?

If you're not going to resist sloth, avarice and gluttony, why bother putting any energy into signing up for a gym and going to weight watchers, right? Save your money for when you have conviction of the heart.

The Catholic Church is the institution Christ left us to provide the tools to keep our animus in tip top shape. The Sacraments draw upon the power of Sacramental Grace contained in Them. We enter those Sacraments with the intention to draw upon the power. It's food for our mind and spirit.

There's a moment in Christ's ministry that teaches about the power of Sacramental Grace in the Sacraments. Walking in a crowd, He suddenly asked 'who' was touching Him. The Apostles, astounded, asked what He was talking about because He had been surrounded by people who were touching Him all day. Christ explained that He felt the power drain from Him, knew that somebody believed, approached with that belief and the purpose of her reaching out and touching Him was to draw the power to heal. In fact, she hadn't even touched Him, she touched the fringe on His cloak. By her faith, she was healed but many who touched Him in that day drew no such benefit.


Approaching the Catholic Church and asking for the Sacrament of Marriage while making clear you intend to exclude Sacramental Grace, the Church can not go along with it. You are entering the Sacrament without understanding what it is, building the foundation of your marriage upon sand. No sound (or sane) priest would go along with it.

Sure, every diocese is filled to the rafters with priests who will do it. But those who do are in the priesthood for something other than the salvation of the souls. Going in and out of their parishes will poison your intellect and spirit and you - or the children you subject them to - will at some point wind up on the highway to hell. For some of us, thankfully, the parishes gone to the dogs just got too screwy to be a by-product of God's.

There was a time to stay in a parish like that to be a witness for the authentic Church but the internal schism has far too much momentum now. The time for that has passed.

"We are now standing in the face of the greatest historical confrontation humanity has ever experienced. We are now facing the final confrontation between the Church and the antichurch, between the Gospel and the anti-gospel, between Christ and the antichrist. This confrontation lies within the plans of Divine Providence. It is, therefore, in God's Plan, and it must be a trial which the Church must take up, and face courageously." - Venerable Pope John Paul II

The second article focuses on Cardinal O'Malley's mission to retrieve the estranged.

Ironically, Cardinal O'Malley believes the way to retrieve the estranged is to build the foundation with people who reject the teachings of the Church. He has never hired nor appointed anyone whose credentials were faithful to the teachings of the Church. All of his hires and appointees either overtly rejected Church teaching in the public square, have spent decades in a role that opposes Church teaching or have spent their careers silent on the teachings of the Church. (There are employees whom he inherited that are faithful, but I'm speaking about Cardinal O'Malley's appointees).


The results of this model Cardinal O'Malley selected to guide his flock in Boston has Mass attendance under his regime plummeting from 376,383 in 2000 to 286,951, according to last year's count.

This model of church bars the attendees from Sacramental Grace. Non believers do not impart knowledge about the fringe of Christ's cloak because they are not in possession of the faith. They do not have, and therefore do not teach, the tools that lead the faithful to approach the Sacraments with belief to draw upon the power of Sacramental Grace and the Divinity of the Body and Blood of Christ. The deprivation of Grace ultimately leaves the flock open to being lured into some hell hole. The pews thin out accordingly.

I am moved to tears that my Ireland has this circus to look forward to as their future. I'm none too happy we'll be treated to puff pieces from the Boston Globe about it. I guess all we can do is make sure the truth is available and public and pray that people will find their way to it, as we did.

The raising of Lazarus was the last straw for those who refused to acknowledge Jesus as the Messiah. When Christ healed the man born blind, attempts to pretend it had not happened failed, and the last recourse was to claim it was a sinful act, violating the Sabbath laws. At first, the refusal to rejoice in these great signs seems as remarkable as the signs themselves, but it is typical of a cramped view of the world, by which close-minded people deny reality. When Jesus called Lazarus from the tomb, “many believed in Him,” but others rushed to the Pharisees, who feared that the Romans would react violently. The miracle was evident, but the desire for social and political control took precedence. This miracle was the efficient cause for the start of the Passion.

Thus, we see the flaw in the adage that “seeing is believing.” It is possible for human pride to refuse to believe what it sees. Of course, one must guard against illusions that trick human vision, but there is a willfulness in obtuse people that rejects palpable evidence. Having received the report about Lazarus, the Pharisees reacted like Sergeant Frank Drebin, the character in the “Naked Gun” film series: “Nothing to see here! Please disperse.”

That kind of vaunting of ideology over truth would focus on the sins and failings of Christians to be Christians, rather than acknowledge the saints and miracles of Christ in history. Recently, after much investigation by medical experts, Bishop Emmanuel Delmas of Angers, France confirmed the extraordinary healing of Serge François in 2002. This 56-year-old man with a paralyzed leg was instantly cured at Lourdes and walked 975 miles to the shrine of Santiago de Compostela in thanksgiving. This received little publicity because it was outside the secular media’s ability to account for such a sign.

It is easier to distract people by calling attention to ecclesiastical gossip and controversies than to admit the spiritual combat that engages the world. Consider the recent massacre of 1,000 people by Muslims in the Ivory Coast town of Duékoué. Few press agencies mentioned that the victims were Catholics seeking sanctuary in the Salesian mission of Saint Teresa of the Child Jesus. William Blake wrote: “This life’s dim windows of the soul / Distorts the heavens from pole to pole / And leads you to believe a lie / When you see with, not through, the eye.”

Humility is truth, and opens the eyes to what human pride would keep in darkness. Moral vision interprets the signs of the times, and man is accountable for how he understands. As He headed for the cross, Jesus said, “If you were blind, you would have no guilt; but now that you say ‘We see,’ your guilt remains” (John 9:41).

Mounting Pressure to Have a Trustee Appointed in the Boston Archdiocese

On Monday, Former Chancellor David Smith renewed his request to the Attorney General to takeover the Pension Plan in the Archdiocese of Boston.

His commendable statement is posted at BCI HERE.

This is really extraordinary, as it is the first time I can think of that a high-ranking employee or former employee has been willing to break the code of silence that demands we go along to get along with the clericalism, cronyism and corruption (which feels like organized crime to Catholics in Boston) in the Chancery.

Smith points out what is obvious to anyone that has followed the administration of Cardinal O'Malley: What is published and said by Cardinal O'Malley and his staff can not be taken at face value.

Too many broken promises and outright lies.


It remains an unknown "who" is in control of the Archdiocese of Boston.

Two things we do know:

1. It is NOT the Archbishop.
2. Whoever it is, is too incompetent, corrupt (or both)to continue to 'do nothing'.

Letting the Archdiocese retain the power to control the pension is unacceptable.

The reasons are enumerated in David Smith's statement.

I encourage you all to read it and pray about the situation.

In our Boston Blogger Telephone Conference last evening, I expressed my feeling that the faithful needs to step forward in the public square and join David Smith's call for intervention from the Attorney General.

I believe both the archdiocese and the attorney general need to know know that this is not going away. It will get louder and more embarrassing and quite frankly, and sadly, has the potential to end with indictments.

Will The Real Archbishop Please Stand Up?

When I was a teenager, there was a game show on television called To Tell the Truth.

This central character is accompanied by two impostors who pretended to be the central character. The celebrity panelists question the three contestants; the impostors are allowed to lie but the central character is sworn "to tell the truth". After questioning, the panel attempts to identify which of the three challengers is telling the truth and is thus the central character.

After a round of questions, each of the panelists would take a guess. Then the host would say "Will the real _______ please stand up." Sometimes, for giggles, the impostors would make like they were going to stand up until finally, the central character would stand.

I thought about the show after reading the post at Boston Catholic Insider today, "Cardinal reaffirms pension plan".

After letters went out and several rounds of meetings took place to coerce employees to absorb the financial misfeasance for the archdiocese by forfeiting close to 40% of their pension, the Cardinal made a statement in the Pilot saying he is committed, to his dying breath, to care for the thousands of employees who have given their lives in service of the Church. He says anyone who felt pressured into taking their money will be able to reverse that decision. The diocese is financially healthy, he said. All of the fiscal challenges have been resolved.

This comes a day or two after the Cardinal sent his lawyers to arbitration with the Daughters of St. Paul and refuse to give them their own money back. It is completely inconsistent what the Cardinal has been doing and saying for the past month. In terms of painting a financial picture that is healthy, this contradicts about a year's worth of PR about the diocese being in terrible financial shape.

Are we to assume that the Cardinal was ignorant that his staff was screwing retirees? He didn't know that his administration held 40 meetings to tell retirees that the Cardinal was not committed to funding their pensions?

When statements or letters get presented saying the Cardinal said or signed this or that, nobody really believes the Cardinal is even aware of the situation. After a release of a letter or directive on a situation and people ask him about it, The Cardinal acts like he is hearing it for the first time.

Either the man has a serious case of amnesia or the group of people in the Chancery who are running things is penning things and orders and signing his name to them without his authorization or even knowledge.

At times, these statements completely contradict something he purportedly ordered or said.

Here's a good example.

Cardinal Sean put out his statement last May saying the Denver policy would be carefully studied and considered, but Fr. Bryan Hehir said a day later on WBUR that the Denver policy didn’t matter at all to the Cardinal–the Boston Archdiocese was already admitting children of gay parents and would continue doing so, just with a formal policy. One of the these two gentlemen was lying. Based on the outcome policy, it would appear that it was the Cardinal.

Nobody knows who or what is running the Archdiocese or what statements and actions are really by the hand of the Archbishop.

Very, very creepy.

Very creepy.

Bishops Turn A Blind Eye

Over the past few weeks, we once again demonstrated in Boston how a Bishop (in our case a Cardinal) handles complaints about corruption. Not only does he turn a blind eye, he takes it one step further. He pens a letter about how wonderful the person is.

What makes this action so despicable, is that it is a deliberate shot across the bow of people who have been reporting the corruption he refuses to take action upon. It says go bleep yourself.

This is not the first time Cardinal O'Malley has resorted to this passive-aggressive response. He is a pro at it. In fact, he did the same thing six months ago, after a dossier was delivered to him on the devastating career and tenure of Fr. Bryan Hehir. He even called in a chit from Rome to have Fr. Hehir 'honored'. Rome played along.

When Cardinal O'Malley and his administration promised the Commonwealth that they would provide abortions and made good on that promise by contracting abortionists and driving the women there, pouring millions of dollars into their own pockets -- we made sure Rome knew every detail. And, not just about the fact that they appointed a Cardinal who would go so far as to facilitate murdering children -- we had a long list of how they were lying about it, how they were using their PR machines to lie about what they were doing and slander people who were publishing factual information.

Even when it comes to lying about the profits they want to make murdering children, the Holy Father will continue to find favor with that Cardinal.

It pains me to say it, because I love the Holy Father. But, I love Christ and His Church and salvation much, much more and so I find that I must say it.

The people in the Chancery know they are positioned to do just about anything without being stopped, and they take full advantage of it.

How this dynamic, how they all turn a blind eye, manifests itself when it comes to abusing children is further revealed in the documents released about Jesuit Fr. McGuire.

Our friend Maria has highlighted in the comments section what the Jesuits knew and when they knew it - and what they did about it.

Specifically, the documents and testimony in this case
show that by the end of 2002, the Jesuits knew:
(1) that there had been allegations involving McGuire's interactions with the son of
a family in Gennany and that McGuire subsequently brought the son to live
with him at Loyola Academy;
(2) that McGuire had "much relations" with several boys in Europe;
(3) that Austrian police had investigated McGuire's relationship with a kitchen boy
in Innsbruck who had travelled extensively with McGuire;
(4) that had been repeatedly abused at Loyola Academy, including
that Fr. Schlax had sent Loyola Academy officials a letter indicating that.
had called McGuire a "pervert" and had also made similar allegations during a
meeting between Jesuit officials and Fr. Schlax;
(5) that Fr. Reinke from Loyola Academy had reported several serious concerns
about McGuire, including that he allowed his "friends" to sleep overnight in his
room;
(6) that McGuire had been accused of having inappropriate interactions with
students at the University of San Francisco;
(7) that McGuire's faculties in Los Angeles had been tenninated;
(8) that Jesuit officials had consulted with an expert on pedophilia about McGuire;
(9) that in 1991 Brother Palacio had reported that he was "quite suspicious" of
McGuire's behavior towards a 16 or 17 year old boy travelling with him;
(10) that Fr. Fessio had reported in 1993 that McGuire had been traveling with
young men, including one with whom he was taking showers, reading
pornography, and masturbating;
(13) that the psychological evaluations of McGuire indicated that he had a sexual
behavior disorder;
(14) that a Jesuit assisting with the evaluation of McGuire in 1993 had concluded
that McGuire had "grave moral problems";
(15)

that the Jesuits had received a report from mother in 1994
indicating that _ lived with McGuire while a student at Loyola in the
1960's and that he would cry when she asked him about McGuire;
that John Doe 130's mother had called them in 1995 to report on her suspicions
regarding McGuire and her son, and had also told McGuire to leave her son
alone;
(17) that in January 2000 the Jesuits could not issue a "letter in good standing" for
McGuire because of the information that had been received about his behavior;
(18) that, throughout the late 1990's and early 2000's, McGuire had utilized the
services of several teenage boys as "aides" who assisted him both day and
night, spent considerable time with him at Canisius House in Evanston, and
travelled extensively with McGuire;
(19) that two different families whose sons had served as McGuire's aides wrote to
the Jesuits in 2000 to express concems about McGuire;
(20) that McGuire might have been the legal guardian of a 16 year old boy, John
Doe 116, who was extremely close to McGuire;

(21) that McGuire was travelling to India with an "aide"~) in late 2000, in
clear violation of the "Guidelines" imposed upon him by the Jesuits;
(22) that in july 2001, Jesuit Marc Andrews reported suspicions about McGuire's
behavior with_;
(23) that in July 2002, McGuire was scheduled to give a "special retreat" to minor
children;
(24) that McGuire was traveling with a "high school boy" (John Doe 116) III
Summer 2002;
(25) that several Jesuits had made reports about McGuire's "personality" problems;
and
(26) that McGuire had ignored four different sets of Guidelines placed on his
behavior by various Jesuit Provincials in 1991, 1994, 1995, and 2001, each

time requiring yet more restrictive limits to be placed on his behavior (which he
continued to ignore).

They can get away with murder. Literally. They can even position themselves to make a profit off of it. And there is nobody over in Rome who will say - "Gee, here's a guy who contracted with the state to drive children to be executed for a lucrative contract, turned a blind eye to it and then lied about it in the public square. Tormented the people who were making the facts known. Perhaps whatever he has wrong with him makes him untrustworthy and we should find a nice position for him somewhere else serving the poor in a village in Africa."

The crocodile tears about how sorry they are that the system is broken really does not move the people here in Boston. When they flop themselves onto the floor in a dramatic show about how sorry they are, and they wash people's feet -- and the cameras are rolling to capture how much they 'care' -- all I see is the Pope's traveling circus. The meaningless gesture is self-serving.

Cardinal O'Malley's Right-Hand Man (Jack Connors) Helping With Obama's Election

Jack Connors is a familiar name to those of you who are following along with us in the archdiocese of Boston.

Jack has stacked the Chancery with friends of his and his buddy Jim McDonough and given them such high salaries that ten of them are now costing us 3 million dollars. I won't bore you with the details, but you can read about it on BCI if you go over to the right hand side of the blog and read the posts filed under 'conflicts of interest and cronyism.


Yesterday, in a post about the Daughter's of St. Paul missing pension money and the Cardinal's refusal to turn over the data and money to it's rightful owners - there is a very interesting detail on how money gets diverted into Jack Connor's pet project piggy bank instead of things like employee pensions.

As we reported in “Is Boston Archdiocese Committing Fraud?", $5 million is owed to the pension fund for employee pensions by closed parishes. That has not yet been repaid, yet $2.5 was diverted from closed parish reconfiguration funds to pay costs of Finance Council member, Jack Connors’ pet Catholic Schools project in Brockton.

When you owe your employees 5 million dollars from closed parishes and the money comes in, why would you hand it over to Jack Connors instead?

Does that seem ethical to you?

Is Jack Connors fundraising for the Archbishop or is the Archbishop a fundraiser for Jack Connors?

While the Archbishop is giving money to Jack Connors that belongs to the Daughters of St. Paul and sick and retired employees, Connors is holding fru-fru events for the wealthy elite drumming up donors....for OBAMA!

Vice President Joe Biden came to the top of the John Hancock Tower in downtown Boston yesterday afternoon to rally about 100 elite Democratic financial backers...yesterday’s cocktail party...guests, who drank from an open bar and snacked on rare beef tenderloin crostini ...were being courted for future financial help....thanked the crowd, including health care entrepreneur Jack Connors... for its influence as much as its money.

The Daughters of St. Paul and the employees getting screwed out of their pension would have enjoyed the rare beef tenderloin crostini, the open bar and the beautiful view to talk about that 2.5 million.

Biden said he hopes the Archbishop's chief fundraiser will help Obama get elected just like last time:

“Our shot at getting reelected is through you and the same way you did it the last time,’’ he said.

In addition to the cocktail party gathering, Biden also met with a smaller group of supporters in Connors’s 60th-floor office, the highest floor in the skyscraper. Connors is the lead fund-raiser for the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate, and, like others in attendance, has wide influence on other potential fund-raisers.

I sure hope while he had the attention of the wealthy elites, he mentioned the hole he's digging the Archdiocese into.

Why can't meet his fundraising goals at 66 Brooks Drive?

The more important question is, what is Cardinal O'Malley's right-hand man doing helping to re-elect the most destructive and deadly, proabortion administration in the history of American politics?

Noteworthy too is that two brothers and a sister-in-law of Archbishop's spokesperpon, Terry Donilon also work in Obama's White House. Thomas, is National Security Advisor, Michael is Joe Biden's Chief Counsel and Michael's wife is chief of staff to Joe Biden's wife Jill.

BTW - It's very strange, isn't it, that there's nobody in the Cardinal's Cabinet who worked for George Bush. Ronald Reagan. I know plenty of Catholics faithful to doctrine who have applied for jobs and leadership positions - but unless you're a friend of Jack Connors or Jim McDonough, you don't have the credentials.

There's something really dirty going down in Boston and I really believe it needs an independent auditor. And a RICO investigation.

Eyewitness Account of the Pension Circus Under the Big Tent

As most readers hopefully know by now, meetings are being held by the Archdiocese of Boston on the topic of employee pension.

Boston Catholic Insider has the eyewitness account on the circus under the Big Tent.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: The Cardinal has a duty to pay his employees their pension before he donates millions of dollars to Jack Connor's pet project.

The Cardinal Archbishop and the people he has appointed are experts in two things:

1. Calibrating the message so that the deception is in what they don't tell you.

2. The Cardinal Archbishop makes sure he's only in town a few days out of the year so he can claim it was somebody else's fault if they are every caught red-handed.

They are scaring people into writing off the debt of the Cardinal Archbishop by taking a lump sum payment on their pension that is a percentage of what the archdiocese is bound to give them -- and as it turns out, they are guaranteed:

Of course there isn’t. Make sure that you don’t tell them that paragraph 19.3 of the trust agreement says “Each employer shall periodically make contributions which … are sufficient on an actuarial basis approved by the plan’s actuary to fund the costs of the plan arising with respect to the participants…”

Don’t tell them that your benefits are GUARANTEED BY NOT ONLY THIER EMPLOYER BUT ALL OF THE OTHER EMPLOYERS IN THE PLAN. They don’t need to know, and after all, it wasn’t likely the information they were seeking.

Speaking of things they don’t need to know, the largest employer, The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Boston holds real estate with a value we estimate is north of $1 Billion and has no material liabilities.

Very disturbing.

Cardinal Come Home

The Charles Kurault of the episcopal conference has made a pit stop in his diocese for a few days to 'reach out to inactive local Catholics'. He's shocked, shocked I tell you, to learn the Dallas charter is a joke and the good old boy network had pedophiles in active ministry in Philadelphia.

I think we counted something like 8 days that the Cardinal was going to be present and accounted for in Boston from the end of January to May 1st. Naturally, we are delighted the Boston Globe was there to record one of the moments.

Here's one of the things he said:

At yesterday’s news conference, a reporter asked O’Malley about Catholics who feel alienated from the church because of disagreements over social issues, such as gay marriage.

O’Malley replied that if the church can “lead people to Christ’’ it makes it easier to discuss “the challenges and hard words of the Gospel,’’ but he said that “the Ten Commandments are not up for grabs.’’

He added: “We need to do a better job to explain what the church’s teachings are and how they are connected in the very consistent life ethic. But obviously we can’t have that opportunity if those people aren’t talking to us.’’

That's all true of course. But as he well knows, all of his appointees and administrators are unfaithful to Church teaching. The last thing they are going to do is teach it to people in the pews. His administration is teaching people who show up to reject Church teaching. Consequently, in the last three years, we have lost close to one hundred thousand Catholics who "came home".

Catholics are not 'home' until they're living their lives in a pursuit of a state of grace every day. To accomplish that fiat, transgressions against God have to be named so that people will recognize the things they're doing that disconnect them from God's grace. Then priests have to sit in the confessional a half hour before every Mass on the weekend so that those of us who are gone 12 hours a day working have the Sacrament available to us.

It's sad to watch the man say he wants to accomplish something and in practice lead all the parties into the abyss.

n.b. Parishioners of Holy Trinity are requesting prayers to stop the sale of the Church. Take a moment to look at the pictures - it's a tragedy to see this beautiful Church sold to pay for the corruption and ineptitude.

Legislating from the White House - Catholic Bishops Respond

Barack Hussein's order to the Justice Department to stop defending law is an escalation of structural chaos he was elected to accomplish.

Can somebody verify if either one of the Oaths Obama took included the language "I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States for only those Laws I like. "??

Separation of powers is not his strong suit.

The Catholic Bishops are stunned.

Stunned I tell you.

They've dressed themselves in sackcloth and they are rolling in the asses, wondering how in the world could this have happened:

The U.S. bishops' Office of General Counsel said the Obama administration's decision to no longer support the Defense of Marriage Act in legal challenges ahead "represents an abdication" of its "constitutional obligation to ensure that laws of the United States are faithfully executed."

"Marriage has been understood for millennia and across cultures as the union of one man and one woman," the office said in a statement issued Feb. 23 after President Barack Obama instructed the Justice Department to stop defending the federal law passed by Congress and signed into law in 1996 by President Bill Clinton.

Then, they all got into their suburus with Obama 08 bumper stickers and went home.


I got an email from a friend of mine who works at the USCCB who told me there was a rumor flying around Bishop Dolan got an emergency call from Ireland. The suggestion was made to have a fooggie washing ceremony.

You put your left foot in, you put your left foot out, you put your left foot in and you shake it all about. You do the hokie pokie and you turn yourself about. That's what it's all about.


Marriage has been understood for a millennia to be the union of a man and a woman. Across all cultures.

Are they serious?

I have to restrain myself from listing the names of priests and parishes who have been teaching homosexuals to shack up for the last decade with the full support of the Archbishop of Boston. Some of them are shacking up with their lovers themselves.

Really, after the USCCB has been for 40 years working to elect politicians who have taken the morals of this country to the gutter, the last thing I want to see coming out of them is another publicity stunt. It's like reading a press release admonishing hookers and drug dealers from Charlie Sheen.


Remember the hoopla here a few weeks back in Boston about the need to redistrict what constitutes a parish because all the money and people disappeared? The Cardinal pulled together the usual suspects (called it a pastoral planning commission) to figure out the needs of Catholics and map out a 'pastoral plan'? (Info on this team of wizards can be found HERE)


Back at 66 Brooks Drive, the geniuses gathered. Archdiocescan Pastoral Council and the Archbishop think one of the problems is, Catholic teaching is unfriendly to women and gays and something must be done about it.

In the meeting minutes posted HERE, it was pronounced that planning for the Archdiocese needs to be "bold, prophetic, proactive and based upon the person of Jesus Christ".

I never thought of Christ as 'a person' before. They come up with the craziest things up there. One time, a group of diocesan dames decided catechesis was going to be based on 'two men with beards and a bird'.

I know you're thinking 'there she goes again, exaggerating'. But it is the God's honest truth. The catechetical theme one year in this archdiocese was two men with beards and a bird.

You've got to read the minutes in their entirety.

Here's your first clue they won't be finished until well before the archdiocese goes bankrupt:

After a year of intense research and consultation, the current
downward trajectory of our parishes appears unhealthy and unsustainable.

Think about it. That conclusion took a year of intense research and consultation! There won't be any nominations for the sharpest tools in the shed award from this team.

Here's their tack:

Several serious issues need to be addressed to make the Church more welcoming: the roles of women and GLTB persons in the Church, clericalism, the disproportionate wealth of the Vatican, and the antagonism that exists between some pastors and the Archdiocesan administration.


Are seminarians being trained to plan and work collaboratively with laity? Will they be able to work well with women? Fr. David replied that the seminary is implementing coursework in finance, management and human resources administration

Who will make the planning decisions in the parish—the pastor or the parishioners? Fr. David replied that competent administration of a parish requires collaboration of the pastor, the Parish Pastoral Council and the Parish Finance Council.

We're going down babies. Going down.

Got a long way to go before the beast and the false prophet are cast into the lake.

Role of the APC: Responding to Email Comments
In October, APC members received email messages from two separate individuals asking the APC to support these individuals’ particular viewpoints by making certain demands of Archdiocesan officials.
After some discussion, a consensus was reached about how to best respond to such messages. Council members should refrain from responding individually to these emails. A designated representative will send an acknowledgement to the person advising him/her that their message will be forwarded to the Cardinal and Fr. Erikson. It is Fr. Erikson’s policy to respond to persons who identify themselves, but not to anonymous writers.

As the Archdiocese finishes the demolition of Catholic identity with their 'consensus', the APC was told they can't respond to the concerns of lay people.

Can anyone say...TYRANNY?

Crocodile Tears in Dublin

Catholic Bloggers often hear about the experiences of lay Catholics the rest of the world isn't privy to. All kinds of vctims who have been bullied and disabused, ignored, slandered. Some of them given their sit down and shut up money pass stories on that are demoralizing. After all of the lamentations and talk about reform and sorrow, how Catholics respond to abuse in this hour is manifested in the allegations of Fr. Euteneur.

The priest disappears. The diocese doesn't even have to contribute to the charade, the people in the pews find a way to make a martyr out of him. When victims step forward, the pewsitters do the dirty work for the Bishops and attack like rabid dogs. Meanwhile, the Bishop has built his empire with the morally loose. The next generation is tossed into the systemic rot.

Ten years ago, a lot of us were hopeful that the revelations of abuse would usher in reform. The reforms needed were simple. These tyrannies are built on the level of an Archdiocese. There needed to be a layer above the level of the Archdiocese that reports directly to the Pope so that the people on the level of the Archdiocese knows that they will be removed and held accountable for any corruption.

Instead of meaningful reform, the fix has been telling stories to innocent children about their parents and relatives putting their hands down their pants to rape them at any moment (without a single story of a priest or bishop putting their hands down children's pants!) and a series of Masses and ceremonies all over planet earth where we are treated to crocodile tears lamentations.

Watching these stunts rubs salt in our wounds.

Here's the most honest thing ever said since Cardinal O'Malley's installation here in Boston:

“We want to be part of a church that puts survivors, the victims of abuse, first — ahead of self-interest, reputation, and institutional needs,’’ O’Malley said.

The institution of our soul's salvation has been dismantled and replaced with this ridiculous dog and pony show.

So long as the people of Dublin are not expecting a system where the Holy See acts on corruption, these bells and whistles will bring some measure of comfort, I suppose.

Editor: They're not reading from a Catholic script here, they're participating in something akin to a reality television show, likeBishop Bode's phony attempt. Cardinal Sean and Archbishop Diarmuid Martin are playing ball for the wrong team, as usual. His Lordship, the Primate of Ireland, has been vocal about his role as the good guy, but he's consistently silent on Catholic teaching.

It's going to be difficult to be convincing about whatever it is you're apologizing for if you're not going to admit what the problem really is, it's integrity, as pointed out above and repeatedly on this blog. Neither the Primate of Ireland, nor the Archbishop of Boston are consistently Catholic. So, the problem isn't with the media manufactured sex-abuse crisis, it's a problem with the integrity of Catholic Bishops.

The Luck of the Irish

According to Fr. Tony Flannery of the dissident 'catholic priests association', Cardinal O'Malley met with the 'reform group' and had a 'serious discussion' about the need to turn the Church over to lay people before it collapses.

THE Pope will be officially told the Irish Catholic Church is "on the edge" of national collapse and has only five to 10 years to make a radical recovery by giving laymen and women a greater say in decision-making.

This warning will be submitted in the coming months in a confidential report to Pope Benedict XVI by an international investigator examining the state of the Irish church in the wake of the Murphy and Ryan reports into clerical child abuse.

Cardinal Sean O'Malley, the archbishop of Boston, gave this commitment at a private meeting with members of the recently formed Catholic Priests' Association, Redemptorist priest Fr Tony Flannery revealed at the weekend.

Addressing the annual meeting of The People of God, a lay reform group, Fr Flannery, who met Cardinal O'Malley, revealed that the US prelate engaged in "serious discussion" with the association.

Fr Flannery said Cardinal O'Malley told the association that the Irish church had a decade, at most, to avoid falling over the edge and "becoming like other European countries" where religion is marginal to society.


An American cardinal will tell Pope Benedict XVI that the Church in Ireland is facing a danger of “national collapse,” according to reports in the Irish press.

Cardinal Sean O’Malley of Boston, who is conducting an apostolic visitation in the Dublin archdiocese, reportedly promised a group of Irish priests that he would report to the Pontiff that the Irish Church is in urgent need of reform.

Previously sceptical about the Apostolic Visitation to Ireland ordered by Pope Benedict, Fr Flannery said that in the light of Cardinal O'Malley's undertaking, "there may be some gleam of hope".

Our friends at Catholic Culture are skeptical.

Editor’s note: These media reports should be read with some caution for two reasons: First, the reports came not from Cardinal O’Malley but from representatives of the Association of Catholic Priests, a dissident group with its own agenda. Second, Cardinal O’Malley, whose Boston archdiocese has suffered unprecedented losses during his tenure, is unlikely to overstate the problems facing another local Church.

But, what is there not to believe? Meeting with dissidents and turning teaching, sanctifying and governance over to them is precisely what the Cardinal has done here in Boston. It is not an exaggeration to say that in Boston the role of a Bishop is no longer in the picture. Three hundred years of building an infrastructure here in Boston was demolished in five years.


In 2005, there were 3,731,000 Catholics in the Archdiocese of Boston. Last year in Boston attendance at Mass was down to 286,000.

What's that about 7.5%?

Here it is, right out of the mouth of babes:

“Each time we go to Mass. . . . the pews seem emptier and emptier,’’ said Janet Benestad, secretary for faith formation and evangelization at the archdiocese.

By all means, don't let that stop you from rushing the blueprint over to Ireland.

What's the reason for the decline?

It really isn't complicated.

The credentials of teachers, administrators, lay men and women the Cardinal (and his luminaries) recruit to have a 'greater say in decision making' are not Catholic. Some of them are literally not Catholic and never have been Catholic. Others are baptized Catholics who are either not practicing because they reject the teachings of the Catholic Church or they have formally left for another religion. Some, like Fr. Flannery, have been working the vineyard internally to 'reform' the teachings of the Church by teaching the faithful the Catechism is antiquated.

As he is recommending in Ireland, this is the pool of candidates the Cardinal recruited to make decisions in Boston.

The decline in attendance is causally related to the empire of leaders who then teach the people in the pews to reject the faith. The numbers decrease because parents who are bringing their children to be taught the faith are actually taught to reject it. Consequently, they stop coming and the numbers keep plummeting.

This genius plan is heading to our beautiful Emerald Isle.

It makes me want to cry.

I read recently that a bishop in another diocese was doing his "reforming" by mandating teachers and professionals hired take an oath of fidelity to the teachings of the Church. The books, programs, resources and materials all zealously teach the wisdom and beauty of Catholic teaching.

It seems so odd that men smart enough to get elevated to a Bishop don't know how to choose between the fruit of recruiting people for decision making that will pass on their distaste and rejection to Catholics in the pews and the fruit of teachers and leaders who are on fire for truth and will ignite that fire in the pews.

What is there to say but the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Catholic Bloggers Aim to Purge Dissenters

Very nice article by Rachel Zoll on the new Catholic apostolate on the internet.

The blog "Bryan Hehir Exposed" is aimed at a top adviser to Boston Cardinal Sean O'Malley, the Rev. J. Bryan Hehir, who is the former head of national Catholic Charities and a professor at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. Among the bloggers' claims is that Hehir is a Marxist sympathizer who undermines Catholic teaching on abortion and marriage.

Hehir, who has advised church leaders for four decades, hasn't responded to any accusations and neither has O'Malley, a Capuchin Franciscan friar known for his humility. However, O'Malley said in April on his own blog that Hehir "inspires us with his compassion, vision and fidelity to the work of the Church." In August, O'Malley blocked access from archdiocesan headquarters to one of the critical blogs, the anonymously penned Boston Catholic Insider.

Not only has Cardinal O'Malley done nothing about the 40 years of dissent and scandal being chronicled on BHE, he is going out of his way to protect him.


The same flaw that has brought the Roman Catholic Church to its knees is still deeply entrenched in Boston.  When a Cardinal gets wind of scandals, they bunker down to protect the perpetrator; and

"The lack of civility is very disturbing," said Terrence C. Donilon, the archdiocesan spokesman.

they engage in smear campaigns.


We are disturbing their civilization of corruption and ineptitude.   


By the way, with all of the things Voice of the Faithful has said and done including outrageous malice incited inside of every parish for priests, Bishops and the teachings of the Church, bringing in all kinds of heretics and apostates to mislead Catholics on doctrine, circling parishioners who went in and out of services, disrupting Liturgies -- did you ever hear Terry Donilon or anyone for the Archdiocese say that these people were disturbing and uncivilized?


There was never anything but gushing praise and promises to 'work together'.


Cardinal O'Malley and his administration are hostile to Catholics faithful to doctrine.   I'm sorry to say it but it what it is.

"There's an old saying: Once you become a bishop, you never get bad news or a bad meal," said Carol McKinley, 53, a Boston-area blogger who named her site "The Tenth Crusade." "Not a single bishop will look at the whole. They enjoy their ignorance."

Critics of the bloggers contend the activists are motivated mostly by politics, not theology. The blogs feature nearly as many attacks on President Barack Obama as church leaders. McKinley's site, until recently, was called "Throwthebumsoutin2010," in anticipation of the midterm elections.

By the way, my comment about "not a single bishop will look at the whole" was in the context of the whole Body of Bishops at the USCCB.  


After the sexual abuse crisis, there were explicit promises to be watchdogs to their brother bishops.   They promised to make sure their colleagues are engaging in ethical practices and they pledged to hold each other's feet to the fire.


I was expressing my frustration at this broken promise.


But there are many good Bishops who are paying attention in their own dioceses.   Bishop Chaput, Bishop Vasa, Bishop Nienstedt (who is cleaning house!) and many, many others.   


For those of us trapped in a diocese that is corrupt, experiencing the willful ignorance and clericalism in the Body of Bishops, it does not speak well to those of us who wanted to believe that a Bishop would never get away with what is happening in Boston.


When things are imploding from the scandals at the Chancery, the days of sweeping things under the rug to keep the public image of the Bishop looking stellar are behind us. 

However, the conservative Catholic activists insist their faith, especially church teaching on abortion, inspires all their work.

Catholic officials are struggling to come to terms with the bloggers and have organized several recent media conferences on the topic, the latest at the Vatican this month. The U.S. bishops' conference issued social media guidelines in July calling for Christian charity online.

Still, no one expects the Catholic blogosphere to change tone anytime soon. Many of the conservatives most active online had spent years raising the alarm about dissent on their own in their local dioceses without much effect. Now, they feel they are finally being heard online.

"There's a general sense among many faithful Catholics that no matter how much they write their bishops, no matter how much they go to the pastors, all of these unfaithful things keep getting taught," Voris said. "I think enough Catholics are saying, 'That's it. I've had it.'"

We have done everything feasible within Cardinal O'Malley's administration.  It has been perfectly clear that Cardinal O'Malley is hostile to Faithful Catholics.

We are taking our whistleblowing public and gearing up the activists to take our parishes and Chancery back from the employees hostile to Catholic doctrine.

It is happening all over the country.
