Democrats Stand Up for the Sanctity of Life

I've watched Bart Stupak's balderdash now several times and I just can't get over the dishonesty of it.

I guess we are late to the party. All we had to do after Roe v. Wade was have Ronald Reagan draw up an Executive Order barring abortion in the United States.

He's got to be kidding with that nonsense.

Over 50 million babies have been executed in the womb, some of them decapitated alive through the initiatives of the Democrats.

Someone had the decency to shout babykiller at him on the floor. God sees what you are doing dude.

I love the comment posted by Fr. Vince Fitzpatrick on this thread.

Kevon really outdoes Cardinal Bernardin, too, in larding up the term "pro-life" to include "keeping insurance costs down," "no more arbitrary premium hikes, etc. etc.

Why EVERYTHING is "pro-life"! More fuzzy teddy bears for the children is pro-life! Filling potholes is pro-life! Weatherizing houses is pro-life! More rent-a-mobs from ACORN is pro-life! Wheee! So I can be a good Catholic AND keep voting for the baby-killers again and again and again--because they are for so many, many things that are "pro-life"!

There have been some positive developments. To no one's surprise, LCWR and NETWORK came out for baby-killing. But so did the CHA. It's always progress when some "Catholic" organization stops working behind the scenes for abortion, and starts working for it out in the open.

Thing is: the pro-abortion sisters at LCWR and NETWORK can be pro-abortion and keep their jobs. So can the people who run the Catholic Hospital Association.

The bishops at the USCCB who have done so much to promote Obama's agenda know that they can't keep their jobs and support abortion publicly. But they will continue to do everything they can to strengthen the pro-aborts' iron grip on government--as they have been doing for forty years. They are already shipping out the mail-in postcards for amnesty for illegal aliens--i.e., permanent pro-abortion-voting-bloc expansion.

I noticed that Bart Stupak, in speaking against the Stupak amendment, started spouting Seamless Garment rhetoric, the first, last, and always refuge of the pro-abortion "Catholic." Cardinal Bernardin, the Best Friend the Abortionists Ever Had--EVER, continues from the grave his brilliant, evil work of sowing intellectual, moral, and rhetorical chaos.

Gum It Up, Repeal and Replace

Caving for an executive order is either really naive or disingenuous.  We're not as stupid as we look.

Bart was given clear logic from  numerous people about the insufficiencies  in turning over votes to secure this disaster, including Executive Orders can't trump Federal law so he didn't go into this ignorant.

“The law of the land trumps any Executive Order, which can be reversed or altered at the stroke of a pen by this or any subsequent President without any congressional approval or notice," Boehner said.

"Moreover, while an Executive Order can direct members of the executive branch, it cannot direct the private sector," he added.

Opposition to the idea comes in part because technically it won't work to authentically ban abortion funding and can easily be reversed.

“Because of Roe v. Wade, courts have interpreted the decision as a statutory mandate that the government must provide federal funding for elective abortion in through federal programs. In other words, no Executive Order or regulation can override a statutory mandate unless Congress passes a law that prohibits federal funding from being used in this manner," Boehner explained.

Every time I begin to trust a democrat they do something deliberately dishonest. What is with them?

When you can't even get the USCCB on your side, you know your publicity stunt was a bust.

One proposal to address the serious problem in the Senate health care bill on abortion funding, specifically the direct appropriating of new funds that bypass the Hyde amendment, is to have the President issue an executive order against using these funds for abortion.  Unfortunately, this proposal does not begin to address the problem, which arises from decades of federal appellate rulings that apply the principles of Roe v. Wade to federal health legislation.  According to these rulings, such health legislation creates a statutory requirement for abortion funding, unless Congress clearly forbids such funding.  That is why the Hyde amendment was needed in 1976, to stop Medicaid from funding 300,000 abortions a year.  The statutory mandate construed by the courts would override any executive order or regulation.  This is the unanimous view of our legal advisors and of the experts we have consulted on abortion jurisprudence.  Only a change in the law enacted by Congress, not an executive order, can begin to address this very serious problem in the legislation."

The guy means well--he just didn't have the backbone to do the right thing in the face of the tyranny taking over the country. Pelosi did not need Stupak yesterday so today's deal signals Stupak and his holdouts would possibly have been enough votes to Nay the Bill.

Perhaps this was all cooked up by Pelosi et al to try to save Bart Stupak and other's seat when the people vote in November.

I'm really disappointed in the dishonesty.

The short-term game plan seems to be gum it up, repeal and replace.

We'll see what happens.
