With hundreds of Catholics faxing, calling and writing to the Nuncio and the Vatican about the abandonment of the Archbishop from his See, the seven years of dismantling the Catholic Church here in Boston and how in his abandonment, wealthy dissidents have taken over the Chancery and there is fracturing and chaos, we really don't know what to make of the news that the Pope has assigned Cardinal O'Malley to Ireland to "intervene" in a diocese devastated by sexual abuse allegations.
Is this the golden parachute and a Coadjutor will be assigned?
Or, when the Vatican received concerns of several hundred Catholics indicating the Cardinal has shifted power to Jack Connors, other wealthy dissident donors and the Kennedy School of Government, they brainstormed and came up with an idea to give him another job in another diocese, on top of the one he as, in a land far, far away that is a bigger mess than Boston?
Gee, I hope not, because the only thing more absurd would be to read they're rushing the Legionnaires of Christ over to Ireland to help the Church in Ireland out of the mess.
**UPDATE
Here's a good laugh for readers who are privy to what's going on here in Boston:
“It really confirms Sean O’Malley’s profile as being the Mr. Fix-It of the Catholic church when it comes to the sexual abuse crisis,’’ said John L. Allen Jr., who covers the Vatican for the National Catholic Reporter.
Mr. Fix-It.
Is this nuts or what?

That's a good one about calling in the Legionnaires. Stultified or cultified, take your choice Dublin!
Cdl. Sean is the clean-up boy: Fall River, Palm Beach, Boston, now Dublin. An extraordinary talent, you know. I still like to think that Pope Benedict isn't one of the destroyers like O'Malley. Given this move, and other things like appointing Levada, I begin to wonder.
Jerry,
There isn't a dime's worth of difference between the Legionnaires and Cardinal O'Malley.
Since it's well-known in Rome that Mr. Fix-It is in over his head here in Boston and is overwhelmed, I'm trying to reserve judgment until we see how this plays out.
Is there an opening for an archpriest in any Roman basilica?
When I heard that Cardinal O'Malley was going to Ireland I thought of you. How long will he be gone, does anyone know?

Now there's a saint for you when you feel that your sanity is eluding you (such as a time like this) - St. Dymphna!
I hope that they don't send Cardinal Fix-It to my neck of the woods.
Veronica
How long, O Lord, how long?
Thanks for the empathy Dymphna!
It's a big mystery still. Near as we know, he'll be going over there in the Fall and they figure he can still hold his day job here.
The Vicar General is under his desk and Jack Connors, Bryan Hehir, the Chancellor and the Kennedy School of Government have already taken full control of it all.
Veronica - you said it!
We should all take ourselves over to the "take action" page at the BryanHehirExposed blog and write letters of concern to the church officials there, from the Pope on down.
